The good: the check in process was efficient, the rooms are clean and the amenities are adequate for the price. Good location if you're headed to the park. The bad: the staff is pretty much asleep at the switch when it comes to access control. The local "citizenry" seem to come and go as they please leaving the pool area a disaster. This low rent lifeatyle, which they've efficiently bestowed on their abundant kids, makes the area very unenjoyable. As I write this it's after 3 pm and the room hasn't been serviced. Sad. read more

This hotel was just okay. The rooms were nice, but the staff seemed unorganized and stressed. Check in was a breeze, so that was nice. The hotel staff was friendly, but they just kinda seemed understaffed? And a bit overwhelmed, even though there weren't a ton of people there. We did have an incident at the pool. The life guard (who I believe is hired by Cedar Point, not the hotel) was very rude to us. We asked if there was a hot tub because the website showed one, and he just laughed at us and walked away. I told my boyfriend I was shocked at how rude he was, and I think he heard me, because he came back and said "well you're two years too late and the pool is heated to 85 degrees so that should be good enough for you." I just thought his attitude was unnecessary. We weren't complaining about the pool or the water temperature, just asking a question. I talked to hotel staff about this and they were very nice and apologetic, even though he's not there employee. They even attempted to give us free Cedar Point tickets the next day, but we were leaving and couldn't stay to use them. I asked if we could just have a late check out since our flight was in the evening and we'd like to relax after a busy day at the park, and the supervisor agreed with no problems. The next morning though another staff member came to our room and told us we were suppose to check out at 11am. I told her we were granted a late check out, and she apologized. At one point during the night someone smoked in their room and set the fire alarm off for a while until the fire department could come. It was unfortunate the hotel couldn't turn it off themselves, but it makes sense. The room was comfortable and nice. I would stay here again, I just hope the next time they have more people working and that lifeguard is no longer employeed. read more

We stayed for 2 nights so we could enjoy Cedar Point. We paid $199 for one night and $269 for second night. Room was clean. But they have no breakfast, no kitchen, no donuts, nothing!! No iron, no hair dryer in room. I had to ask for them. Had troubles checking out because their internet was down. Only if you had cash could you check out. read more

First thing they had my reservation wrong. Upon check-in, they stated I was already checked in. Clearly not or I wouldn't be standing at the desk attempting to check in again. During our stay room was never cleaned once. Dirty towels not exchanged for clean nor was trash taken out. Found a bug on the wall and called management came up promptly only to convince me after he smashed the bug with a tissue I had to leave for an 8am baseball game and told him I would settle up after I returned. No notes were made on the account and manager not available at time of checkout. Not the best customer service I would expect. read more

I stayed here for a nationals tournament with my mom and girlfriend and as soon as we got here the hotel was basic, 3ft pool and it was warm, you can't play it more for adults to sit around and drink. Then later in the week my girlfriend needed to buy tickets and the employee was instantly just trying to get more money out of us and after we explained we only needed ONE waterpark ticket and ONE amusement park ticket, my girlfriend got to the park and was only able to get into the amusement park and when she went to the waterpark she was told she was given two early access tickets to the amusement park and the waterpark, how do you expect my girlfriend to go the amusement park in the morning, and the waterpark all within that early access period. These people are ridiculous, how does that make sense. This place reeked of pot on the outside and the workers carried the smell inside. My brother smokes pot I know what your eyes will look like and what you smell like. I RATE 0 STARS, absolutely never again. read more

Stayed here this weekend for a Cedar Pointe trip. In terms of amenities the hotel is probably 2 stars, however the perks that come with staying in a Cedar Pointe hotel make this a good choice. I'm super high maintenance and picky, and I can tell you it's not as bad as the other reviews make it seem. There was some dirt behind the furniture but all visible places were clean and let's be honest, I'm sure if the average person checked behind some of their own furniture they'd find some dirt somewhere. Let's not hold this place to impossibly high standards, it's a decent hotel. It's mostly clean, they have new flat screen tvs and the space is generous. We were able to comfortably fit 7 people and no one seemed to care. My only complaint is the bed, it was hard as a rock. The hotel really becomes worth it when you factor in the early pass. My friends and I were able to ride three roller coasters with no more than 10 minutes wait. It could've been four but someone threw up on a ride and we got stuck in the coaster just behind them waiting to get off. There's also the discounted tickets, free parking pass, and you get a band for free unlimited drinks (can be used every 30 minutes) which comes in handy when a regular drink is around $4. With the 7 way split, my portion of the trip ended up being $80 for 2 nights in the hotel and tickets. I'm not a cheap person by any means- like I said high maintenance- but when you compare the prices for the other hotels which have comparable standards but a heftier price tag this hotel becomes the clear front runner. read more

Like most people staying at this hotel, I only needed a decent place to stay after my day at Cedar Point. I felt that it was satisfying for the price it was at (which included the deal with the park ticket) and for what I needed it for. Since I shared a room with three other friends the park ticket and the room ended up costing something like $65. I think this is a deal! Though it wasn't the nicest hotel ever, what can you expect? I was satisfied with the cleanliness of my room (didn't see anything dirty) and the location in relation to the park. The lobby can be a little offsetting; there really isn't much to it, just the bare minimum of what a lobby should have. Overall, it did the job and it works for me. read more

This place DEFINITELY does not deserve the 2-star rating it currently has on yelp. Here are the reasons: 1) Great Deal for Groups: There were 5 of us, and all we wanted was a cheap place to sleep during our Cedar Point trip. This hotel had a FANTASTIC deal that included a room, cedar point tickets for every adult in the room, free parking pass to cedar point and one-hour early admission to cedar point. The five of us shared a room, which came with 2 queen beds and plenty of room for a cot and an air mattress and we stayed 2 nights - total cost per person for all this? $91. That is $45.50/night! That deal alone gives it 4 stars. 2) Location: This is a five-minute drive from Cedar Point and located within walking distance to several bars and restaurants. 3) Drinking Fountain: This sounds random, but the drinking fountain in the lobby is honestly the best drinking fountain I have ever experienced in my life. The water is cold, tastes delicious, and comes out in a perfectly-pressured jet that makes drinking from a fountain actually a pleasant experience - you don't have to arch your neck too far down or worry about a loose stream where half the water ends up dribbling down your chin. I couldn't rave more about this drinking fountain and will remember it fondly. What else? It was clean, it was large, it was dark and quiet at night and the staff was friendly and accommodating. I liked the hand lotion they provided. They have free wifi and a pool. I really have no problems at all with this place and was fantastically pleased with the value. read more

VERY SURPRISED the ratings for this hotel are this low.....and I'm picky!! My husband and I honestly picked this hotel based on the price. It's close to Cedar Point and only around $150 per night. Yes, the hotel is very basic, but it is also VERY CLEAN!! I've stayed in several suites at high end hotels throughout my life, and this hotel is just as clean, if not cleaner, than those. Yes there are not a lot of amenities, but it's not priced as though there would be a lot of amenities. The rooms look great, not old or ran down. The hot tub & pool was a nice perk, however, there were too many teenagers there for my liking so chose not to get in. Overall, it was a very good experience. I do wish however, that would not have taken the arcade out. I was so bummed when I arrived and there was a candy shop now where the arcade had been!!!! BOOOOOO!! I'm fat enough. I do not need to buy any candy!!!! read more

First i will say something good. the staff while not really friendly is willing to accommodate. Now onto the real meat and potatoes of this hotel. Dead cockroaches in the lobby, giant spiders in the lobby bathroom. Our room smelled like mildew. There was a black type of mold on the bathroom ceiling. Popcorn on the floors, the previous occupant's black sock fuzz all over the bathroom floor. The desk chair was so broken one could not sit in it. This room was so filthy we checked under the mattress for signs of bed bugs. Three words: Filthy, Filthy Filthy. Something can be outdated but clean at the same time. Not Breakers Express in Sandusky Ohio. read more

I am giving the Cedar Point Express Hotel three stars because when we arrived there was a weird stain on our bed sheet. It looked like blood but I am not sure. One of our towels had hair on it and there was tons of hair in the shower. It is okay to stop for one night here. read more

Solid 3 stars for Breakers Express. The room and bathroom was clean and secure. Even though our room was very close to the lobby, we weren't kept up by noise or commotion. The lobby and front desk staff were also clean and friendly. This is a very basic hotel with very basic amenities, but they are happy to answer a question or point you in the right direction (menus for late night food delivery, a place for breakfast or hot coffee...) I didn't notice any of the insect issues that others had mentioned in previous reviews. See my sister, Maxine W.'s review for a rundown of housekeeping. I don't need to elaborate. All in all, it is a basic, value hotel. If you plan to stay at Cedar Point all day and are just looking for a place to take a scorching hot shower and sleep for not a lot of bucks, this is the place for you. read more

Simply put, this hotel is the "best bang for your buck" when it comes to Cedar Point hotels. The renovations are impressive- the decor is appealing, colorful, and modern. They offer a pool (3 foot deep) and water activities for small children. The facility is well maintained and clean, and the beds are comfortable. This hotel offers the standard host of cedar point perks: early entry, discounted rates, etc. This facility is not the most luxurious option, but it is perfect if you are looking for cedar point access without breaking the bank. An important note about cedar point.... I am an Ohio native and have visited the park on several occasions. When traveling to cedar point, always print and save your documents. Cedar point is a large organization and doesn't keep accurate records about all of your purchases. You may need to furnish tickets or package descriptions to get the wristbands. Always travel with your documentation. read more

What a wonderful hotel! It's just 3 minutes from the entrance to cedar point, so if you are visiting the park this is the place to stay. The rooms were very spacious and clean. Each room was supplied with plenty of towels and toiletries, so we never needed to ask for any. The hotel has a nice pool (although it was cold so I never used it) as well as an on site store where you can get breakfast. The location of the hotel can't be beat, as it's very close to many restaurants and bars in addition to Cedar Point. The hotel offers benefits of discounted tickets to Cedar Points with early pass included (so you can get into the park 1 hour before it opens), as well as discounted parking for the park. This will be my go-to hotel for every time I visit Cedar Point now. I could not recommend this hotel enough! read more

Boo. They charged my friend's credit card 3 times. It took over 30 minutes to get checked in (probably because they were so busy charging my friend so many times). It is WAY outdated. The room smelled strongly of mildew. There aren't mini-fridges in the room. I haven't seen a Zenith TV for years until I visited Breakers Express, so I guess that blast from the past was almost a little fun. Not great. read more

This hotel is in a desperate need of a renovation and better training for the hotel cleaning staff. At over $100 per night even with discounts, it may be worth it to stay somewhere else if you want a well cleaned room and a comfortable bed. Imagine the worst mattress you've ever slept on, multiply that by about 10, and you still are in for worse mattress. You'll probably wake up even more tired then when you went to sleep. The cleaning staff need to learn to clean more than just the highly visible areas of the room, when there is visible dirt, fingernail clippings and other grim under the table, and around the places where obviously a cleaner was too lazy to move a piece of furniture. The check in and front desk staff were pleasant and nice, so no complaints there. Avoid the hotel store. I went shopping for a new pair of sunglasses and half the ones on the rack had lenses covered in mold from being in the dark humid area. read more

Reasonably priced and close to Cedar Point. We took advantage of early entry and parking at the park. The beds are uncomfortable as hell. The room was average for a hotel. The pool was clean and open till 11 PM. We have stayed twice and will likely come back. Would give the rating higher if it were not for the beds. read more

We had a first floor room near our friends. The room was damp and smelled like mildew. The carpet was damp, and the walls literally had water dripping down them. We thought running the air while we were gone to the park would dry out the room, but it was like that all 3 days. Our friends' rooms were the same. We couldn't change rooms, because we were out too late every day. Additionally, the wifi only worked if I stood in the hall. The pool was nice. Some free coffee in the lobby and a little warm decor in the lobby would be nice- the ambiance was very cold and unwelcoming. Not a terrible value if the room had not been like a tropical rainforest. Maybe ok on upper floors??? read more

Very clean and nice atmosphere! Staff is really friendly and it's very close to cedar point.

Express hotel is the best way to describe this place. If you are literally just looking for a place to crash for a night between trips to the park, this is the place to go. If you want a hotel with any amentities, stay at Breakers. I've stayed here and Hotel Breakers and can say for sure that I won't be visiting this hotel again. We checked in (relatively painless), then went to our room. We wanted to go straight to bed, til we noticed our bedspread had a questionable stain. Our room had 2 beds so we swapped the blankets out, only to find a stain on the other blanket as well. We were too tired (past midnight at this point) to ask for a new one so we just slept with the sheet and quilt under the comforter. We were given 2 keys to the room - only one worked (learned this the hard way and had to go back to the desk for a new one). We needed cutlery for breakfast, were told they gave all of it away the previous day? Then went down the following morning and magically all kinds of cutlery was available. AC was horrible and room was so warm. Shower had what I called negative water pressure, and towels weren't folded properly in the bathroom - making me question how clean our room was overall between that and the blanket issues. Overall - good cheap place with a bed to get a discount for park tickets - but not a nice enough hotel to visit again. read more

Let me first start off by stating that the Hotel / Cedar Point / Parking at Cedar Point combo package is a good deal and for most a no brainer as far as cost goes, but know that the hotel cut back on a few amenities. It was plain as it gets, clean, but plain. This means the rooms are basic, no Microwave, Fridge, Iron or Ironing Board, so know this before making your final decision. Other things to mention were the beds not being not very comfy, and OMG the cheap pillows! I've been to quite a few hotels and this was the absolute worst case of shitty 'dead' pillows! They were not fluffy whatsoever! So be prepared to stuff the pillow case with some shirts or flex that bicep to rest your head on. Seriously either of the 2 was more comfortable that what the hotel had to offer. So to reiterate, the package deal was great, but be aware of the hotel caveats. read more

Hotel was nice. Rooms were very clean, although a rowdy team of baseball tournament children aged approximately 12-15 I'm guessing ruined the experience. We were staying for cedar point mainly and to enjoy some of the local stuff. We stayed there for 3 nights from June 23rd through the 26th, staff were friendly, the main guy in the gift shop during our stay when we were down there was super nice, the front desk lady was also exceptionally friendly and helpful, but again, those baseball children ruined it. One of those children was throwing a football in the pool area, and another one pulled the hotel fire alarm on purpose even though there was no fire. Honestly not the best hotel experience I've had at all read more

Pluses: Discounted CP tickets. Early entry to CP. Parking pass to CP. Friendly check-in process. Minuses: Room and bathroom could be cleaner. No room fridge (want cold juice for breakfast? load up on the ice!). Beds advertised as queen-sized were full-sized. Wireless internet was basically useless. $4 for a bottle of soda in vending machines ("welcome to CP; might as well get used to our upcharges early!). Upon check-in, I asked a pretty simple question ("Can a Fast Pass be picked up at any CP entrance?") and the check-in assistant had no idea. I would not expect CP to upgrade this hotel any time soon, as it is the cheapest available option for people who want the "CP property perks" like early entry, etc. read more

Love this hotel! Very clean and modern. The pool area is nice especially for kids. Splash pad is cute and the pool only goes to 3'6". Rooms have a microwave and fridge which was convenient. The soap is Bath & Body Works which was cool. There was a couple things that could have been better but nothing major! Things like the pool was pretty dirty. Lots of dirt, grass, bugs, etc at only 1pm. Also, it would be nice if there were more hooks in the bathroom so that you could hang your wet suits up, there's only 1. It was also odd that the ice container and cups were on the bathroom counter (ew!). We're given 2 room keys but only one worked...and discounts to CP are next to nothing. But other than those minor things, we will definitely be back. read more

I've seen some bad reviews, mostly about not having a complementary breakfast, which to me is a stupid thing to write a bad review about. We loved our stay! AVOID ROOM 1002!!!!! Overall, this is a decent hotel. It's clean, well maintained, and close to Cedar Point. My only complaint was room 1002 which was right next to an employee only room....linen closet, break room?? My three teenagers and I went to bed around 11:30pm, for the next 2 hrs employees went in and out of the room next to us...each time the door would slam. Between 12-1am, I counted the door slamming 18 times!! Then around 7:30am, we were woken with door slamming again...but this time the employees stood with the door open at one point talking about the days they had to work and which days they had off. Between 7:30am-8am the door slammed at least a dozen times. I never heard any other guests being loud or slamming doors...:just the employees. I would stay here again ONLY if I was NOT on the 1st floor. read more

This is definitely an "express" hotel. You get a room with two queen beds, a mini fridge, tv, little coffee pot, hair dryer. There is an express shop where you can buy clothes and snacks. We came for HalloWeekends and my teenage son forgot long pants, and we were able to buy CP sweats in the shop. What you don't get is everything else. There is no restaurant, no area to hang out (besides the lobby and outdoor areas, which when cold are not as usable). If you have kids and want to relax a couple hours in the afternoon between morning at the park and haunted house times, there is really nowhere for them to go. The staff is very nice and helpful, and the rooms are clean. The check in time on Friday at 6pm took about an hour. They also were not able to provide us Fast Pass add-ons at the front desk, even though the FAQs on the website indicate you can. With the hour+ wait across the causeway we saw when we drove back to the hotel Saturday at 4pm, we decided next time we would pay the extra $$ to stay at the Breakers where we would be onsite and have more options. read more

2 and a half star rating overall, REALLY?! People are too damn picky!!! I've never paid over 100$ for a hotel room, ever, because usually it's a decent room and some cheap bagel and cream cheese and you're only there a couple hours. Well we reserved a room (which was easy as pie! and I even called to ask some questions and they were very courteous). We arrived an hour early, the outside is bare, but the building is clean. The lobby is pretty big with some colorful (but not tacky) couches and chairs to sit on with access straight out to the pool. We def hit up the pool after checking into our room. After reading reviews I was terrified I paid the amount I did (we got a package for 2 adults 1 child breakfast, room, and tickets for CP) to stay here, I was terrified the people would be rude and the rooms tiny and dirty. You people obviously haven't stayed at a baymont inn. Their rooms are the size of a damn shoe box. I'm sitting in the room we paid for currently 2 queen beds with these seriously fun colorful blankets (think aimed for fun, once again not tacky) the floors are clean, the walls are clean, the tables and dressers are clean. The bathrooms also very clean, there was a funny smell I thought, and my daughter commented but we fixed that pretty quick, plus... we aren't sleeping in the bathroom. If it smells funny again I'm going to let them know as we leave. As I was saying above though we arrived an hour early and were able to check in, the desk staff was very nice, and how many hotels do you know that the cleaning staff says Hello with a huge smile, how is your day? None!!!! Most of them can't speak english! That right there made my day. Fricken cleaning staff! Anyways, the pool area is nice. They even have lifejackets for little people who can't swim. So, my stay so far has exceeding my expectations, and I'm satisfied for what I paid for my hotel room. I fully intend on editing this if checkout doesn't go smoothly but so far so good, very satisfied, do not let the lack of stars deter you. If you want a decent place to stay for a decent price/package... pick this place. It may not have a fridge in the room but how many people actually use those? read more

Nice, quiet hotel, for an Express Variety. Very clean, and updated & remodeled recently. Staff helpful, and they have a nice gift & food shop. No breakfast in AM, but MacDonald's across the street. Nice stay for the price. Could have been a little cleaner, but I've never stayed in a more friendly & helpful hotel!! The hotel stay included $29 tickets into Cedar point and a free parking pass. Breakfast-to-go was an additional $11.00 for our family, not individual. Not too bad, it included juice box, milk, cereal, pop tart, fruit, and plasticware. There were also muffins and pastry of your choice, and unlimited coffee. :D Regular priced tickets for Cedar Point were $46.99 a person, plus any around town hotel will be about $100+ a night. I chose this hotel for my trip to Cedar Point for a few reasons: 1. You get discounted tickets when you stay at a Cedar Point hotel. 2. You get to enter the park an hour early when you stay at a Cedar Point hotel. 3. You get free parking when you stay at a Cedar Point hotel. 4. This was the cheapest Cedar Point hotel. So yes, I chose this place simply because it was Cedar Point's cheapest hotel option. And honestly, I wasn't expecting much, but I was not disappointed. The room was dated, but everything was clean. I mean, this place is in the middle of Ohio, so I didn't expect a room like one at Disney World. If not having a flat screen is going to ruin your whole vacation, I guess you shouldn't stay here. If you can survive that, I think you'll be okay. The hotel is on Cedar Point Drive, so the park is five minutes away. There is also a Dairy Queen and McDonald's across the street. Getting in an hour early was worth it. The other hotels were almost actually INSIDE Cedar Point, so if you can splurge for one of those, I say go for it. If you are trying to plan your trip on a budget, I think this is a great option. read more

After paying an exorbitant amount to stay at a park property, and expecting something for my money, I couldn't be more disappointed. If you are tempted to stay here, resist the urge. The room is small, filthy, and outdated. The sheets were dragging on the floor. There's some unknown substance on the bathroom wall - blood, perhaps? Ugh, ugh, ugh. Run, run, run.
