For my expectations - useless. I DID NOT HAVE SURGERY. I am reviewing my visit. BTW, if you can't watch videos due to a disability - too bad. Office staff and doc should get on same page. She came highly, highly recommended. Her nutritionist and office staff are very friendly and helpful. They found a time within a month; very reasonable. They provide multiple videos with the 20+ pages of forms. Due to a disability, I have a hard time watching or just listening to videos. I requested the written docs or transcripts to look at; was told nothing existed but not to worry, the doc would spend extra time answering any questions. I completed every form and requested all recent lab work from several doctors and sent it scanned as requested in advance. Why? No reason apparently. The doc came in and clearly had not even glanced for one second at anything I submitted. How do I know? My medical situation is extremely complex; I have multiple issues that turned out to seriously rule out the surgery at all; she seems very uneducated about many of my conditions, but didn't admit it or ask questions about them. She seemed to think I could just quit taking lithium; but, conversely, Her answers about the surgery, pre and post procedures, etc. were very thorough and easy to understand. Obviously, you want a surgeon who can operate, so, if the pesky patient communication is too much, assign someone else. BTW, I was not asked if I was comfortable with another doctor/student/resident, etc. being in the room. I don't care, and I am not shy. However, I know many people uncomfortable with this who would not contradict a doctor. This was a very long drive. My boyfriend had to take time off work. The doc said all of their materials for education, maintenance, etc. were videos only. i guess if you are disabled, you are out of luck. She clearly seems to have helped many people and since I am not having surgery, I cannot speak to that. read more

If there was a rating lower then 1 i would give it. The dr's and nurses are great. Their billing department needs to learn customer service and manners. I had two procedures done on the same day. I paid the amount that i was told was due. I had the procedure done and everything went fine. I was going to have another procedure done. I was told I had a balance due. Apparently they only charged me for one procedure not both. I was never told that I may owe more money after the procedure. My husband and I both tried to resolve this issue with them. They wouldn't try to work with us to resolve the issue. Now it's turned over for collections. This is fine because they aren't getting another dime from me. read more

My husband and I are clients of this practice because we are on the Ideal Protein diet. (We had also looked at another practice with weekend hours, but that ended badly - see my review for "Ideal Weight and Skin," also known as Cedar Park Ideal Weight Loss.) But this review is for this FANTASTIC location - if you are looking for Ideal Protein, this is the place to come! Bottom line - these folks are professionals! I have been on this diet twice before - once in Arizona, and once in Kerrville, TX (a small town just over 100 miles Southwest of here - my husband did it the second time, too), so I'm aware of how it works. (The reason that I was on twice before was that each time I started, there was a death in the family that forced a move to a new location, and if you've ever tried a diet or lifestyle change while going through a traumatic event, it generally doesn't work so well.) In both of these locations, they provided a "coach" - someone trained in the IP method. Here at Cedar Park Surgeons, the coach, Holly, is a nutritionist with a Master's degree. She has answered any question or concern that my husband and I have - both in person and via e-mail - completely, concisely and in a way that makes sense and is neither above our heads, nor patronizing. We never feel rushed in our appointments, or that a question we're asking is silly. As I said - these guys are true professionals! Let's be honest - being on any kind of a diet is a bummer, no matter how good the results are (and these results are GOOD!) but when you have questions that you can't get answered, or the answers don't make sense, it's hard to stay on track. That's why this is such a BIG DEAL for me! Thanks, Holly! I also appreciate the fact that this program is provided in an office where weight loss is the doctors' medical specialty. For 20 years, I've fought my weight - if IP doesn't work (for some reason) I know that I'm already at a facility where I can get more help - and that's just awesome, too! Final note - on my first phone call, I spoke with the receptionist, Savannah - and she's just a delight, as well! read more

The staff at Cedar Park Bariatrics is helpful, welcoming and kind. I'm seeing Dr. Basa and she is great. She is thorough and makes you meet goals. I have no words for this review. Dr. Basa saved my life and I am forever grateful. I was on the fence at first but now I realized this was the best decision I ever made. The office and doctors are very friendly and care about their patients. I almost went somewhere else before coming here and you were just a number there not to mention the doctor does not even live or work in the area (he was from Dallas). They have a fool proof plan that is easy to follow and offer their own products (protein powders, vitamins, etc) which makes it easier to obtain and keep track. All health issues have went away and I am my healthiest in years. I am now 80 pounds down and still going. I highly, highly recommend Dr Basa or Dr. Abando. Thank you both!!! read more

I would give more stars if I could! I recently had a very major surgery performed by Dr. Basa and can't say enough good things about the care and follow-up I received. She is a class act all the way. Her professionalism is second too none, her knowledge is exceptional, and her ability to put her patients at ease is wonderful. The staff at Cedar Park Surgeons is fantastic as well, very friendly, willing to answer any and all questions, and professional. Best doctor I've ever had. Communicates perfectly, understood all my concerns and my surgery went perfectly. I will always use this surgeon in the future, as will my family. Office was quiet, clean, convenient. Staff was awesome. The surgical location was super efficient and friendly, as well. My recovery time was so much quicker then I'd expected, my surgical scar much neater than any before and my recovery pain minimal. Really couldn't have had a better experience. read more

I was so pleased with Dr. Basa, and Dr. Abando during the journey through my pre op, and post op Gastric Sleeve surgery. Dr. Basa is so knowledgeable, and I couldn't be happier with my progress. I started my journey on 1/31/18, and my surgery was on 2/14/18. The best Valentine's gift I could give myself. I look forward to meeting my goals and my follow up care. Well I really waited to do this review. I am 6 months after my sleeve gastrectomy. I had Dr. Abando do my weight loss surgery, and Dr. Basa do my gallbladder removal surgery. To give a little background, I had my weight loss surgery in May, then 6 months later had to get my gallbladder removed (turns out this can be common w rapid weight loss). For people considering surgery, I would recommend Cedar Park Bariatric. Dr. Abando and Dr. Basa are both competent and skilled surgeons. They have created a whole network surrounding weight loss surgery. They have a program, there is a support group online, there is a support group (in person) they can refer you to in the main cedar park hospital, and there is follow up after your surgery. Weeks, months, and a year later. You do not feel like you got surgery and got kicked out in the cold! Their team is there for you anytime you need them. While I did not have Dr. Basa for my WLS, she did do my gallbladder surgery in which everything worked out well. I am glad she was able to do it so I didn't have to have someone unfamiliar with me as a weight loss surgery patient. So far, other than having to get my gallbladder taken out, I have had no complications. The surgeries went well, surgery incisions healed well, and minimal pain. I chose to have my wls at the Cedar park hospital. You recover on the 4th floor, and even the nurses there are great and supportive. From what I understand the 4th floor is where most of the bariatric patients go to recover so you will not be alone! Now that I am 6 months out and 94 lbs down I have to say I do not regret my decision at all (even with the gallbladder attack) I would do it all again in a heartbeat. I also do not regret choosing Dr. Basa and Dr. Abanado as my surgeons. I highly recommend them and their team. Also Kelsey their nutritionist I forgot to mention! Dr. Basa and Abando are the Best! These two doctors really care about their patients. Sometimes when you go to doctors offices you feel like another number. NOT here! They treat you like you are one of their loved ones. I had my procedure done with them, i had never had surgery in my life, the doctors and staff totally put my mind at ease. They answered all my questions( even when I asked the samething 500 times) always with a smile and great attitude. We recently moved to Texas and needed a surgeon. Without any personal recommendations, I turned to social media and found Dr Abando at Cedar Park Surgeons. Excellent doctor and staff! We were able to schedule an appointment with little delay and were treated with professionalism from the front desk to Dr Abando! Since we were cash payers with no insurance they happily gave us a detailed cost breakdown of the surgery. The surgery was preformed at Cedar Park Surgical Center; excellent facility as well. It went exactly as Dr Abando had outlined with no surprises and a great outcome. Surgery is scary at best, but Dr Abando and his team made it as straight forward and comfortable as possible. I hope we never need a surgeon again but would only use Dr Abando if need be in the future!! I highly recommend him and Cedar Park Surgeons for any surgical needs you may have. read more

I was admitted with some stomach pains and was recommended to see a GI specialist. Dr. Basa came to see me shortly later and recommended a Haida Scan to check the functionality of my gallbladder, results showed it was only functioning at 5% and I was recommended to take it out. Dr. Basa and her team are amazing! Great bed side manner and answered all my questions. Surgery went smooth and recover has been quick and painless. Anyone needing this procedure should look to Dr. Basa for removal! read more

I have seen this doctor twice and had surgeries. When I go in for the examine visits, I'm welcomed with broad smiles. After that, it is a disaster. We choose the surgery date and time on that first visit itself. They would call and collect the surgery fees over phone before the surgery date and send an email receipt. The day before my surgery at 4:15pm I get a call from the hospital saying my surgery time has been moved from 10am to 11.30 am. When I asked why, the reply from the hospital was Dr.Basa moved in another patient in my time slot. But I DIDNOT get a call from the doctors office informing me about the change in time. I would have rescheduled to another day. Because i have to be in fasting the whole time. But the hospital staff told me to checkin at 8 am as she was not sure. I think that was to calm me down and make me wait in the waiting area. That is what happened. I was checked in and was waiting in the pre-op room from 8:30 am. At 10 am a nurse came and said my procedure is moved and got to wait for another hour as doctor is doing another surgery. Then at 11:30 am another nurse came and said, we gotto wait as doctor is not done with the previous surgery. Finally Dr. Basa is showing up at 12:30 pm. No apologies, NONE! Ok, she is there doing business just for MONEY!!! All she needs is more patients.... more money..... It didnot end over there. After one month, we got a bill from Dr. Basa's office. But we already paid 500+ before the surgery. But the bill was for 400+ for the surgery. When we called their office, the billing staff just said ignore that bill, you need not pay. We will mail back the difference amount by the end of month. Next month again we are receiving the same bill stating pay 400+ in the next 10 days. But we should be getting a credit back from them. Till date we haven't received our credit back from them. As patients, we have to deal with a lot of stress from this Doctor. ZERO to their billing dept. read more
