This is a walk up stand kind of place. There are a few tables outside and a hand washing station. I was prompted to stop by as Dar-E Kreme was partnering with the Northwest High School Cheerleaders to donate a portion of sales as a fundraiser. I thought this was awesome and headed right over! I had already eaten at the NHS craft fair so wasn't starving, so I went with a classic - ice cream float. I opted to make mine a Dr Pepper float. Price was okay for the size. It tasted a bit like cherry which I didn't love, but it also didn't stop me from eating every last drop of the float lol. I would have loved to try a burger and fry and would like to get back and try it. Service was friendly and helpful. Parking is a bit tricky on a rural road, be careful. read more

UPDATE: 5/2024 This place has improved so much. New owners have done great things with it. It's very clean & new. The menu is great. Could use a better burger. The people are very friendly. Concretes are good (not Ted Drewes), But they are not frozen custard. They added more seating. They definitely need more help in the kitchen on busy weekend nights. They are always busy. A bit of a long wait. Help seems new & unsure of what to do, But they will learn. They even added a hand wash station & outdoor A/C. I have been coming here for years and all my life and kids life!!!! They have changed their jumbo burgers to pre made patties tonight. We spent good money there tonight and very very very let down!!! I will never go back. They might have other things good but all my life they had the smash burgers to die for. Today is the first day we've had a chance to come by since the ownership change. The last owners were great, don't get me wrong, but you can tell the new owners have spent a lot of time and money improving the place. The work they've done on the outside of the building looks fantastic! The new bright blue paint job makes the building feel more inviting and there's way more seating than there used to be inside. Plus, there is a nice shaded area to sit and enjoy lunch now. Peeking inside while I placed my order it looks like they've spent a pretty penny upgrading and buying new equipment too. Very nice. We got the fried cauliflower, steak fries and chicken strips - all were as wonderful as they've ever been. We also got a large chocolate shake to share. They are not messing around on those large shakes, 32 ounces of deliciousness. The portions are good, we had plenty to feed 3 with what we got. Great food, super friendly staff and a nice clean environment. I'd give more than 5 stars if allowed. We love this place and we will continue coming back. read more

Nothing quiet compares the ice cream from a cute family owned business! The service is amazing, but a little slow. However, the slowness is strictly because of the popularity of the business and not at all the fault of the employees. Since the new mangers took over, the place is becoming even more popular than before and I love it. It did increase the prices, which I understand and support. Just makes it harder to justify eating there as much as I like when the business is in an area that's generally cheaper to match the affordability of its surroundings. read more

This is my go-to place when I'm craving chocolate soft serve ice cream. They have multiple ice cream concoctions on the menu, plus food (burgers, etc.). It has been a long time since I've ordered food here, but it isn't uncommon for me to make the stop here to get chocolate soft serve with dip cone topping. Love. It. Open but effectively closed. No dine in and also they don't take orders at the window. There are several signs plastered on the building that say "NO ORDERS TAKEN AT THE WINDOW - CALL IN ONLY". Great way to drive away customers. No sporadic burger and fries for you! We ended up driving to Dairy Queen where they will actually take your order like a restaurant should and serve you food. Food is decent but it's the service that's bad. They act bothered to even assist you with ordering. They place their phone off the hook so many times. We love Dar-E Kreme. Theres a kind of hometown southern hospitality here. They are a community staple for Cedar Hill also. You really can't go wrong with anything that you order off the menu. The burgers are thin with a crispy edge which is our favorite type of burger. After you finish your meal, you can order dessert, frozen custard. Even though the dining room is currently closed, the business hasn't slowed! We love going there and eating in our car and it's obvious that everyone else does too. read more

Oh gosh, my boyfriend grew up out here and he has now brought me here twice when over at his family's house. It's a cute little dive/diner-type place, very tiny though. It's almost like a step up from a concession stand, if that makes any sense. Lots of fried foods, burgers, and tons of ice cream. I really did love the chocolate malt that I have had from here.
