Fortunately, I had to make a last-minute trip to Houston and stopped by the CubeSmart on Washington Avenue before my movers arrived with a full truck. I'm very glad I did. The unit I had reserved was not an interior unit--it was an exterior unit. The employees in the office were courteous and genuinely tried to help, but the only interior unit they could offer me was at a significantly higher price. I was told that the only person who could honor my original reservation price was District Manager Brian Serafine. I left two messages for him and never received a return call. Then, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, with my movers scheduled to arrive the very next day, the office called to tell me they could not honor my reservation. Not only would the replacement unit cost $70 more per month, but the first month would no longer be free, despite what my reservation clearly stated.Throughout this entire ordeal, Brian Serafine never contacted me personally. Advertising one product, then charging substantially more when the customer arrives, is unacceptable. CubeSmart should take a hard look at both its management and the misleading reservation practices that leave customers with little choice but to pay more at the last minute.

This is my second unit at this location, and I regret continuing to rent here. I was attracted by what appeared to be a low promotional rate, only to discover that the price increases every few months. I also have serious concerns about the insurance. CubeSmart's own pamphlet states that customers are **not obligated to pay for the insurance to rent a unit**, yet the manager, Harold, told me that it was now mandatory. Then I opened my unit last Friday and found **fire ants at the entrance, mouse/rat feces throughout the unit, spider webs, hornets on the walls, and beetles inside my storage tubs.** My belongings have been damaged and ruined. I photographed everything and filed two claims. After being told to wait for the claims department, I received a voicemail from Cedric telling me that **my claims would not be covered because I did not have the type of insurance that covers this damage.** So I'm left asking: **If insurance is mandatory, what exactly am I paying for? And why am I being charged for coverage that doesn't cover damage caused by conditions inside the facility?** I am a cancer survivor and have health concerns that make exposure to rodent contamination particularly concerning. I expect a storage facility to take reasonable measures to control rodents and other pests. This has been an incredibly frustrating experience. **Before renting here, ask very specific questions about rent increases, insurance requirements, what the insurance actually covers, and pest control.** I personally will not be renting another unit at this location.

So, I've called five times trying to get a reservation set up. When you call CubeSmart it doesn't matter which location you call, if the store manager isn't available to take your call it will ask if you want to be directed to customer service. Customer service reps are located all across the US and you won't speak to someone from the location you are calling. I've scaled serval times and tried talking to the store manager and they were never available. Customer service for some reason couldn't email me the reservation. When they finally text me, I couldn't get them to remove the $17.99 lock fee. I already have a lock and customer service couldn't remove it. They insisted I go in person, but I have a newborn. Anyway, there's plenty of local storage units. F this place!
