My dealer told me I only had about 10% of life left on them. I was surprised at that, because I drive with a central eye to gas mileage. I coast up to stops as often as possible. After Joe looked at them, he told me I had about 90% life on them and didn't recommend doing anything with them. The second and third times I took the car in, I expected to be told I had muffler problems and then a CV boot problem. Again, Joe diagnosed minor problems, showed me what the actual problem was and then did minimal repair. I think I've spent a total of $40 on all three visits! Car is running great and I just cleared another dealership check-up with no problems. I'll be heart-broken if Joe ever retires.....

Today I called because my car was reluctant to start over the last few days. Ron encouraged me to drop by so he could check my battery connection and look under the hood. He listened to my uneducated explanation of what was going on, tightened a couple connections and was patient while we tested other possibilities. He explained everything in a way that I could understand. Thankfully, while I was still at the shop the engine acted up and Ron determined my starter was shot (likely from my battery connection being loose). He was able to order a new starter at a very fair price and replace it SAME DAY. I was willing to leave my car with him for 2 weeks if I needed to, but Ron only needed TWO HOURS. He admits this doesn't always happen, as his schedule after today is booked out 3 weeks in advance (I have waited 2 weeks to get in with him in the past), but today was a lucky day. I drive a 2003 saturn ion (15 years old!) with 230K+ miles on it and Ron was encouraging that with good attention and care the little car will continue to run for quite a while! I both want everyone to know about Ron and I want no one to know about him so I can keep his service to myself. Also, he just got internet so he can order parts faster than before (ha!). I make the drive from out in the suburbs and arrange rides to and from the shop when I need things done because the service and honesty is worth every bit of logistical hastle. I won't take my car anywhere else for repairs. Recently, I had an oil change done at another shop for convenience. They informed me that two of the CV boots had "blown out" and needed to be replaced. I scheduled a drop off to Starr, and sure enough the other shop was lying. Nothing wrong with the boots. The boots are $150 and surely even with Starr's reasonable labor prices I'd have been looking at least $200-250 in total to replace them. This shop is friendly, quick, and most of all honest. Their work is excellent, and they never recommend anything to be done if it doesn't need fixing. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.... and they don't! They won't try to get you to do things early, they won't hoodwink you, but they WILL meet you with a smile and an accurate timeline of when your car will be fixed and at least for me, the estimates have always ended up being accurate or the actual work being less. This shop is worth every bit of the drive to get your work done. I'll never go anywhere else.

I explained that I believed the issue was caused by the neutral safety switch, which is a known and common issue for this model. Instead of inspecting that part, the shop replaced my starter and battery terminal posts, charging me $966. The problem was never fixed -- the Jeep still has the exact same starting issue. When I returned, Starr Auto admitted it might actually be the neutral safety switch and said they could repair it for another $200. That clearly shows the first repair was misdiagnosed and unnecessary. I'm a disabled veteran with VA disabled license plates, and I rely on my vehicle for daily mobility. I trusted this shop to treat me fairly, but instead I feel taken advantage of and disappointed by their lack of professionalism and integrity. I've since filed a credit card dispute for the $966 charge and would strongly caution other customers -- especially veterans -- to avoid this business.

I kinda piled things up with my car and when I finally took it in I was looking for an oil change, new brake light, tire rotation, and air pressure checked. I was hoping I could have all this done for around $125. I left with an $80 bill and they fixed a problem that I had with a tire sensor that I have had for YEARS (MULTIPLE places have offered to fix this for around $200). I was completely blown away. My care needs full synthetic oil and I've been charged upwards of $100 for just an oil change. Southeast was more than affordable and I got one for around half of that. The printout they gave me was very detailed, they didn't offer anything extra than what I was there for and as mentioned before they actually took the time to put the right amount of air in the tires and informed me my sensor was never even broken to begin with. You do need to make an appointment (but I was still able to get in just 2 days out) and drop your car off in the morning. By noon my car was finished and I was able to pick it up. I will absolutely be back and it is honestly the best experience I've ever had at an auto service place. They are very very honest and if you are still considering someplace else, just look at the other 5 star reviews. Southeast is the best!
