    House white wine

When in Cinque Terre, you must have seafood! We were staying in Corniglia and decided to eat here for dinner. It was delicious. The house wine was also very refreshing with our meal. The staff was also very nice. We took a bottle back with us as well.

I had a different experience than some of the other people posting and I'm not completely sure why but may be due to the timing and circumstance. We we're staying in Corniglia so I was not part of a tour group and we came pretty early so it wasn't packed. The food: I loved my seafood salad. Very lovely presentation and taste. I believe the sauce was probably composed of some sort of combination of olive oil and lemon. I used the opportunity for dipping bread. On top there were also blueberries and tomatoes. Overall the best dish I had in Italy. This was light yet filling. The rest of the meal was standard. The environment: of course one of the best reasons to come here is for the view , and what an amazing view. You can see most of corniglio and the mountains. Just gorgeous and worth it. One of my favorite towns in Cinque Terre because of less tourists and the small streets feeling very authentic. The service: I'm not sure if it was because of there only being a few tables filled but service for us was great. Everyone was nice and came by to check how we liked the food. We we're told this is one of the pricier restaurants but honestly comparing head to head some of the dishes the prices were pretty comparable and I would say the extra euro or two was well worth the amazing view and that seafood salad.

    House white! Delicious and affordable

We were skeptical based off other reviews- so glad we decided to come and make our own decision! We had a great meal! We came during an off season so this may have effected the experience but we experienced a family run business that all helped out and had the typical italian restaurant feel to it! They do not act like restaurants back in the states so don't expect it! That's why you travel? To experience other cultures and atmospheres so don't compare! They don't check on you every 5 minutes and yes you must ask for the bill. We had a bottle of the house white- delicious! Not too dry with a hint of sweet. We enjoyed the black lobster ravioli- it's not listed as that in the menu- it's considered Ligurian pasta (Pansoti)with black lobster. It's an a light tomato based sauce (but not overly tomato heavy taste- light and delicious!), the pesto gnocchi and we enjoyed a cappuccino and the local pine nut cake. Everything was delicious! I'll be dreaming of that ravioli until we return! Highly recommend. The local cake was delicious and so fun knowing you can't get one like that anywhere else! Both the lobster pasta and bake had the local pine nuts. The atmosphere inside was fun and beautiful- Columns of stone and older photos and windows overlooking the great view. There's a terrace with a phenomenal view as well but being the off season and the sun setting before opening they don't do seating outside. It was still very cold so we didn't mind and had a seat by the window. Wonderful meal!

I came here with a large tour group while hiking Cinque Terre. So if you're hiking with Walkabout Florence, they will probably bring you here. The menu was already set for us so the food came out almost as soon as we sat down. To start, we had a plate of assorted fresh seafood. When I say fresh, I mean it tasted like somebody had JUST fished it out of the ocean, which by the way, you can see from the restaurant. There was octopus, squid, some different types of small fish, all of which were surrounding this piece of puffy, fried dough. For the main course, we had linguine al pesto, Ligurian style. It's basically pasta al pesto with green beans and potatoes. Some of the potatoes had a weird taste to it, but the dish was flavorful overall. I still can't get over how amazing that seafood plate was. It's probably one of the best dishes I've had during my entire Italy trip!

    Pesto pasta entree. Not great.

Just as another reviewer wrote below, I came here for lunch while on the Walkabout Florence day hike in Cinque Terre. (The guide said that the company has an agreement with the restaurant so you will always come here if you're on the hiking tour.) I think this restaurant is a strong three star contender; it's not awful, but the food was just okay (and all for €15). You start with a plate of fresh seafood. There's squid, octopus, and fried fish. I didn't enjoy this dish much -- the squid and octopus were cooked, but aside from the fried fish everything lacked flavor. It was pretty much like eating rubber. That being said, it did taste very fresh. You then continue with an entree of pesto pasta, which is also just okay. Nothing spectacular about the dish: the noodles were cooked fine, the pesto was on the strong side, but nothing amazing. And, as the other reviewer mentioned, the potatoes were a bit strange tasting. Service was just below par for me. No smiles or greetings. They looked very unhappy, and I felt kind of trapped eating here. I wouldn't not recommend this restaurant to non-hikers.

We took a day trip tour from Florence and the guide set up lunch at Cecio. We were not expecting much but this restaurant ended up serving us our favorite pasta sauces of our trip. The pesto with potato and green beans was new to me but a great combo. My two daughters and husband had great Gluten-Free (senza glutine) pasta with addicting tomato and Bolognese sauces. My fork was constantly digging into their pastas as well. We enjoyed grilled veggies and talking with one of the owners. Mother and son combo. They took great care of all of us. They have a patio where you can eat and take in all the gorgeous views.

Location: Corniglia, in the Cinque Terre. The place: While this restaurant does have an interior, I didn't see the inside of it because I was too mesmerized by the great terrace, the wonderful weather and the stunning view. The terrace has several tables and can accommodate, I would say, at least 100 people. The food: Because I was hiking with a group, we actually had a preset menu, but you won't hear any complaints from me! We started with an entrée of seafood that consisted of octopus, sardines, shrimp and other assorted items. All were SUPER fresh and SUPER delicious. I mean, you can't really beat seafood that's come out of the ocean the day that you're eating it. Our main was a pasta with pesto and potato dish. This was also really good. The pesto was incredibly flavorful and the dish we had was one of the house specialties. Service: A little brisk and not very friendly. That said, we did show up with about 100 people so the wait staff really didn't have time to mess around, with so many people to feed, and with us being on a schedule. I can't speak for the service on a regular day so you'll have to judge for yourself. Price point: I can't comment on this as our lunch was included in the cost of our trek. Verdict: A definite must-eat place if you are in Corniglia.

Try the trofie al pesto or the swordfish or the walnut sauce ravioli. Absolutely delightful, so good it nearly brought me to tears.

The staff was very jovial with us at the beginning and we were having a good time. Then, just as the server was placing our pasta dish down, I said grazia! The server thought I said gracias and decided to openly correct my pronunciation, embarrassing me amongst other Europeans (i'm American) sitting basically in our lap. He outwardly embarrassing me where others could hear ruined my dinner. He made me cry and couldn't understand why the change in my personality. Sorry, but there's a time and place to correct; however, as your customer is about to enjoy the food you made, you wait. When my husband went to pay, they asked if everything was alright, my husband explained what had happened and the man decided to say, "well i know i like to be corrected". I don't mind be corrected, but not in the manner/time in which he chose to do it, with wall to wall people to hear it. How bout next time you reserve your correction and just do your job well and make it a positive experience as it started out. We would have gone there every night for that octopus salad and to try other items. The food on everyone's table looked amazing. Just bad server.

Definitely make a reservation a couple of days ahead because they book up fast, and the place is popular with visitors who swear it's the best in Manarola. That said, the service was rough. The staff felt inattentive, and even when I was ready to pay, it took forever just to get the bill. They never came back to collect the payment, so I had to walk up to the register myself... and still wait for someone to take it. And honestly, they weren't even busy. The food itself was good, though not the best I've had in Manarola. The grilled sardines (five pieces) were tasty with bread. The seafood spaghetti, frutti di mare, was excellent with a solid portion size. The "giant" grilled prawns were flavorful but definitely not giant; you'll still be hungry unless you order something else. The grilled vegetables were a bit soggy and underwhelming. I kind of wish we'd gone for the lobster pasta special. I saw it at other tables and it looked incredible. Overall: good food, great views, but service that needs improvement. Not a bad meal, but not the must-visit some make it out to be.

I've heard about "earning your meal" by doing a workout but this was a bit extreme. First, just trying to find the bottom of the stairway was a task as every map app we used brought us to a dead end including literally a break in a wall where the tide was rolling in. So we used the Force. The Force worked. At least right up to the point where we found ourselves behind the restaurant supplier who, and I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP, is using a motorized push cart with TANK tracks to bring produce, meat, drinks etc, from the bottom to the restaurant. The good news was it forced us to slow down to catch our breath. The bad news is it forced us to slow down and catch our breath. Reminded me when I'm at the gym and I'm silently cursing my trainer to hurry the F-up and get this session over with. You come to Cinque Terre and you definitely want to combine some great food with some great views. Ristorante La Torre hits both of those at a price. That price was a "I'm lost" and "I'm going to die on this path" hike up winding stairs wondering if the restaurant is ever going to appear. But its worth it. The view of Vernazza and the neighboring towns and of course the glistening Ligurian Sea are just breathtaking. There is inside dining but thankfully the weather permitted us to sit on their multilevel patio. We did opt for some shade because by the time we got up there it was a little bit of sun and my buttery body was melting. I really could have used some wine but I was dehydrated enough so skip. Service was surprisingly attentive, perhaps a nod to understanding the American tourist. Is this a touristy place? For the quality of service and food I want to say no. It has been my experience that a tourist trap sacrifices one or both. Yes I was sweaty and wondering how much will a hospital stay in Italy cost me but this was a great visit. Food: sadly, no gnocchi (which is what I zeroed in on first) related dishes that day. Maybe the ingredients were stuck in the bottom of the hill. I'd normally dock off some love but given I literally witnessed the effort to get supplies I'm not going to complain for a shortage of a dish. Fritto misto : great lightly fried batter on sardines, calamari, shrimp. Spaghetti alla Mari (seafood spaghetti): perfectly cooked pasta with generous amount of shrimp, langostino, calamari in a simple olive oil and garlic sauce. Tagliolino all' Aragostella (taglino with lobster): again perfect al dente pasta in a pomodoro sauce Pasta (forget which style substituted for said absent gnocchi) in pesto. Simple and comforting. All the food was super fresh and tasty Oh and downhill was easy.
