I did notice people did have reservations, however my daughter and I were able to squeeze in without one. Sitting outside, this was exactly what I was looking for: excellent Italian seafood, al fresco dining experience in a coastal town. I ordered the fish of the day that came served with the local bread. Finished this with a glass of the local wine and it was delicioso! Another Excellent Dinner Choice - And It Opens Early! Monterosso al Mare is the biggest town in Cinque Terre and has a ton of restaurant choices for dinner. For our 3rd of 7 nights, we chose Da because it had great reviews and opened at 6 PM which is very unusual for the area. Maybe that's why people were lining up at 545 PM? Here are some of the pros and cons: Pros: - Most of the food was heavenly, including a shared Vegetable Platter and desserts. Why can't they offer such a platter in the US? - Service was friendly and helpful...especially for 2 people with very limited Italian. Fortunately, the server spoke English and smiled a lot. - Bread tasted great which is an important factor for gluttons like us - Value was excellent - Seating is both inside and outside, but we made sure to go out given the warm weather. Cons: - The main one...really the only thing worth mentioning...was my wife's Ravioli with Pesto was drowning in sauce. She loves pesto, but it tested her endurance. - Outside tables and chairs were on uneven pavement which made our meal "fun" or challenging...depending on how you view things We'd go back to Da Eraldo, but ask them to tread lightly on the pesto. read more

Made a reservation for outside. Host seated us inside. Showed him the confirmation email with an outside table, but he said he had us down for inside. (It was hot and stuffy inside.) Another couple ended up wanting to eat inside instead, so we switched. Not off to a great start. Complimentary bread was warm and tasted a bit like pizza dough. Ordered the pesto lasagna for my main. Dish was one-note and needed more salt. Bit on something extremely hard too. Looked like a tiny piece of bone, but unsure. My husband had their prawn ravioli, which was too fishy for me. Also ordered their swordfish, which was mediocre at best but the better of the three dishes. Side of salad was served with a piece of plastic packaging in the greens. Food was good. However, we waited in a very long line because we saw that it was one of the top rated restaurants in Monterosso. It was actually our least favorite meal out of the 6 days we were dining in Monterosso. This may say more about the other restaurants however as this food was still good. We ordered the Frutti de Mare - over half of the mussels never opened which usually means they are old. The pesto lasagna was good but lacked salt. The walnut ravioli was good but had no real flavor. We had a reservation, arrived on time, and were told our table was paying their check and would be ready in a few minutes. 15 minutes later, we were summoned in and given a choice of three tables. It was confusing. I ordered the tortelloni with mozzarella and walnut sauce. It was indeed mozzarella and walnut sauce, but I was served ravioli, not tortelloni. I didn't know if the tortelloni was unavailable or what (the waiter didn't mention it), but I didn't want my partner to wait while a new dish was made for me, so I ate the ravioli I didn't know I wanted. (Also, I'm starting to learn that this is common in Italy, but a scallop shell of Parmesan cheese was on my plate with the food. I don't eat meat and wish they'd reserve the sea creature carcasses for people who order seafood. What's next, serving bread in the skull of whatever animal was killed for the ragù?) The service was okay, really kind and I appreciate how sweet the ladies were but all the other tables got bread except for us. The service was friendly, but they didn't have enough servers and so it took a long time to get things. When we asked for salt and pepper, it never came. The food either had no taste at all, or was too pungent. And when we got home, three of the four of us had very upset stomachs. read more

The food here is decent but nothing to rave about. The antipasti platter was definitely the best thing we ordered and it was quite large. The pasta tasted fresh but the ragu sauce was average and the carbonara didn't have pieces of bacon, it was just strips. We sat outside and the seats weren't comfortable either, my dad was sore after the meal. Came here May 2022 when visiting Italy with my wife. There was glass baked into the bread. They apologized when I mentioned it but didn't do anything to make it right. Our bread also looked a little different than the other tables. Thought it was a little weird but didn't know how to process it at the time. We shared the Fantasia di mare and the Antipasto misto -- dish after dish of delectable meats, seafoods, cheeses and grilled vegetables. The housemade pastas were equally wonderful. The only thing I did not love was the bread, which were discs of dough that were almost cracker/biscuit like. There is no view and it's not fancy, but this is a must-do restaurant in Monterosso, and you need a reservation. And prices are soooo reasonable. read more
