He recommended Cecil Whittaker's and that was a good call... we enjoyed a salad and a large half pepperoni / half sausage pizza... Cecil Whittaker's consistently cooks their pizzas just right... I've made my own pizzas at home, with Provel cheese, and it's either not melted enough or burnt... they get it nice and golden and crunchy-and-stringy every time. So I placed an order online just so I knew what the price was but then it wouldn't allow me to pay online so I had to call the store. I ordered one large pizza with pepperoni half of that with mushroom a small person size pizza with two toppings, and 2 pounds of wings. my bill was over $60 and I was extremely surprised. The pizza was OK. It's definitely more St. Louis Pizza and wings were also OK. They did not give us the sauce that we asked for but we charge for that sauce. The service was great, though the woman was able to take my order and get me in there and out of there without a long wait. read more

Nice cozy little business and they've been in Ballwin for a while now. I ordered the veggie and it came out quickly. Back in my day we called this the bait and switch. I called to get the deals and my son called the place the order. Order two large pizzas, two salads and order of cheese garlic bread for 29.99. When he gets up there they say they miss quoted him the deal. He tells them they gave his mom same deal and they say they both were wrong. It only includes one salad. When he gets home the salad they sent doesn't even have dressing and the pizza's cold, and Galic bread is a joke. 6 one finger sized garlic bread, no cheese Never going back. OH, SO HEAVENLY. THIS IS THE BEST PIZZA EVER. First off, screw Imo's. This place is the best!!!!! I'm a St. Louis native now living in Chicago. I miss Cecil's so much. My boyfriend loves this place even more than me.... and that's saying a lot. There's something about the cheese, it's incredibly melty and somewhat sweet. The cheese IS St. Louis. Good 'ol Provel. The sauce, oh the sauce.... way better than Imo's. A tad sweet as well that complements this savory, melty, cheesy, crispy goodness oh so perfectly. Go on Manager's special night when you can get a large for less that $4.00. That's cheaper than McDonald's people! But be prepared to wait on that night. The place if filled to capacity w/ families and all walks of life. But really, any night or time of day is perfect for Cecil's. Poor experience from my attempt to order online - which wouldn't confirm my order - to actually getting our food. Called my order in to the store directly. Delivery driver arrived, rang my doorbell and waited. I put on a mask (thank goodness) to see the driver standing a foot from my door with NO MASK ON, holding my food and a receipt I needed to sign?!?!? I guess this Cecil's doesn't care about keeping customers and employees safe by instituting contactless delivery 11 months into a pandemic. My family won't be back here. read more

We are back here visiting from CA after living in STL for 18 years. We had 4 children (3 boys) who not only ordered this pizza a a regular basis but had many football players over for parties. I'm sure I paid half their rent thru 1998-2011. My children swear this pizza is better than IMO's but I will NEVER BUY another pizza from Cecil's again! I came into town & decided to take pizza's home & the lady says do you want the buy 1 get one FREE XL? I say, yes and order one cheese one pepperoni & one meat lovers then when I picked up it was $79. When I asked why, they said they charge for the most expensive first then cheapest for free. This location has been around forever and it was the perfect spot to stop before an event at the middle school up the road. There is always ample seating in their dining room. Depending on the night you can seat yourself or they may seat you. Staff has always been friendly and are eager to serve. The menu has a lot to pick from. We decided on sodas, a house salad and a large pizza to share. The toppings on both the salad and pizza are plentiful so no worries. The parking is shared with other businesses so be careful on getting in and out. read more

We decided to give the place a try some months ago (had a coupon!) and have gone back several times since. Food is excellent & abundant. We rarely get a pizza, but often go for sandwiches and the like, but it's all been good. Staff's friendly and helpful; if they're ever having a bad day, we certainly don't see it! If you're in the mood for St. Louis style pizza, give CWP a shot. First off, I have to say I am not an Imo's guy. I think it is really overpriced for what you receive. I also think Cecil's food is much better. While I won't speak for every CWP location, the location on Manchestet has been great. The service is always pleasant and quick. More importantly, the food is always good. Be sure to keep your eyes open for the specials they run. Personally, I don't think St. Louis-style pizza gets much better than this. It's just a good ol' pizza place that doesn't try too hard and puts more emphasis on decent pizza than presentation. Considering its history of starting with one small restaurant to now expanding across the St. Louis metropolitan area, I think that speaks to the demand for it. There were three of us during for our pickup order, and fortunately we were all really hungry which allowed us to try different things besides pizza. With a large pizza, a pasta order, a sampler appetizer, and garlic bread, the total was just a notch above $30. I think this is cheaper than you can do at any corporate chain (which have the worst pizzas, anyway, I believe). I went with traditional pepperoni, while the other half of the pizza was shrimp and mushrooms. Despite how disgusting that is, I don't think there are many places where shrimp is a topping option, so I at least appreciate the variety. The sampler consisted of solid chicken fingers, wings, and potato skins. They weren't mind-blowing, by any means. But they were solid and again, I appreciate the variety. The star-reduction is courtesy of the mediocre pasta and garlic bread. But definitely recommend. The pizza leans more toward the greasy side, but not by much. A word of advice from a St. Louis native (lived here 20+ years): NOT ALL Cecil Whittaker's are alike and CWP is greater than Imo's. I have a lot of friends from California, Chicago, and the East that all say how terrible St. Louis style pizza is. However, they're eating either terrible Imo's or going to the CWP in the Central West End (awful). If you guys want to give it a fair shot, I definitely recommend not going with single or double topping pizzas. Try the deluxe and get a side of toasted raviolis. So if you are near this location's CWP, give it another shot. read more

I ordered a large catering order two weeks in advance at the restaurant. The waitress was very helpful and there were no problems. When i called the day of pickup to confirm, the manager was very disrespectful. I was told i couldn't get the pasta i ordered. He trashed the waitress and told me she was stupid and he was going to fire her. After much back and forth he agreed to fill the order. When my husband went to pickup order on xmas eve, the manager was rude. After he left, they called me 15 minutes later to tell me that me husband took the wrong items. I said don't you mean you gave him the wrong items. I had to call my hubby to turn around and go back. This delayed the food getting to the party for over a 1/2 hour. No apologies were given. Cecil's has been on my food menu of life since I could walk... I came here in grade school after baseball games, school events, sunday night volleyball, or anytime. I came here in middle school for our "early out" days and days off with friends. I came here in highschool with special someones and friends to relax and watch sports games. The customer appreciation nights on Tuesday and Thursdays are such a great deal I would grab a few before I went back to college for my dorm mates and turn them on to the amazing taste of Cecil's. The quality of food they serve is poor and their staff is even worse(specifically the manager Scott) I went in there to eat for lunch waited a half an hour and I still have not received my salad which happens sometimes but when I asked about it the manager told me "what do you think this is McDonald's" I have seen him treat multiple customers in this way and you look at some of the other reviews on yelp you will see the same comment.
