I've read the other reviews, and unfortunately read them after I'd already sent 2 comics for review. I have to say my experience was completely opposite some of the others. Granted, I submitted two newer comics, so that may have made things simpler. From the time I sent my books in, to when I received them back graded and slabbed took less than 3 weeks. The books got the grades I felt was appropriate and the slabs look great. I was able to track the progress on their website all the way thru the process and was informed of their final grades before the books were returned. Your results may vary, but my experience was outstanding and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. read more

Consider entrusting this company with your comic books using an exceptionally high level of caution. My Dec 2023 order status reads " Your order has been verified and accurately graded by our professional grading staff (with a a blue clockwise circling arrow shown). After countless non-responsive emails (the phone number links to a message telling you to email them), I sent a registered letter (02/25) via UPS and finally spoke with a live person at CBCS. This individual denied that the aforementioned message was an acknowledgement of receipt, and then advised via text that "...unfortunately since we haven't received the order in-house, there isn't much left we can do on our end." While there isn't much CBCS can do on their end, I am under no such constraint. I have a file open with the Texas Attorney General, Consumer Protection Division, and am exploring other legal options to recoup my loses. read more

Because they didn't open the order, they said they didn't see it. We're talking about a several thousand dollar book. What a calamity of a company. Submit comics for grading to CBCS, and expect nothing beyond a receipt. CBCS provides no progress report, and uses a joke-shop telephone number answered by no one. One year after submission, I haven't a clue when or if I will ever receive my property back, and have filed a formal complaint with the Texas Office of the Attorney General. Next, I will retain a lawyer, and attempt to recover my comics or costs. CBCS is a stain on the hobby and a blight on the slabbing industry. read more

CBCS is comic book grading and certification service for the avid collector who wants to protect authenticate his or her most cherished comic books. Books graded from a .5 to a 10.0 and encased in a plastic holder. Thus, if you're holding on to a Batman 1 or Hulk 181, CBCS offers a clear option to protect and enhance of your book. Customers can avail themselves of their services at many comic book convention, or just send their books into CBCS for grading. The quality of their grading service is right on par with their biggest competitor CGC, but CBCS is slightly less expensive. The most unique thing about CBCS is that they are the only 3rd party grading service to offer an autograph authentication service. So if you had Jack Kirby's signature on a Fantastic Four 1, you could send it in for an authenticated grade by their experts. CGC, on the other hand, offers no such service, and your book would simply receive a CGC qualified grade. All things considered, CBCS is an excellent option in the comic book grading and certification arena. However, my only complaint is that there turn around times seem to be much longer than CGC's, but hopefully they are working on this. read more

CBCS does a very fine job of pressing and grading comics. But they are very poor at communication, callbacks and customer service. And it turns out their customer service email listed on their website (customerservice@cbcscomics.com) does not go to anyone in customer service. Black hole. CBCS altered my bill mid-stream with no notice and no explanation. Repeated calls to the Customer Service representatives were answered with kindness but could only say: "I'll have the manager/supervisor call you back." That never happened. Let me say thanks to all the Dallas-based CS reps that tried to help: Chris, Peter, Alan, and Ronnie. And let me call out as astonishingly negligent, all the supervisory staff that failed in their customer service: DarrelH, Alex & Sarif (sp?) in Dallas and SteveS in Ontario. 9 calls and 10 emails later - no resolution. My issues were held hostage by CBCS, with no communication from them, for over SEVEN MONTHS! I will not use them again. read more

Overall turnaround time was ok but I did pay for the express however their expertise is lacking in the authenticity department. Paid a decent amount to have the comic that we had autographed by stan lee to be graded and wanted it sealed after authenticated. Unfortunately they returned it unverifiable with a low grade. The lower grade was fine, but we never would have sent this if the value was in the autograph but to pay all this just to have them say it was unverifiable?! Are you kidding me?! We had this autographed but clearly they are rejecting authentic autographs because their so called experts are inexperienced idiots. read more

Sent in two books to be verified and slabbed. They were returned, and one of the books (graded a 9.0) has a piece of plastic inside the slab and the bottom of the plastic in the slab is torn. And the bottom of the book is torn and marked from being put in the plastic. It did NOT have these marks before. This is just negligence in regard to slabbing. They claimed it was the shipping of the book that did it, but it was packaged well, and, if it had jostled around during shipping, the outside casing would be harmed. They refused to reslab it at a 9.0, stating it was no longer that grade. They also refused to give me a reimbursement, saying that they could only give me what a 7.5 was worth, since that what is was now. This is a company of crooks now that Steve Borock and Daryl Hayden are gone. read more

Dropped off a VF-ish Fantastic Four 48 signed by Stan Lee to CBCS at their booth at SDCC. Got the call yesterday that they "lost" it. Spoke w/a guy named Chance who offered me $1000 as reimbursement, which I rejected. Another Stan signed version in 7.0 (roughly what mine was) sold on Ebay in May, priced at 8k but sold as best offer accepted. No way to know exactly what that sold for, but it's probably safe to say WELL over 1k lol. Even very low grade unsigned copies are selling well above 1k. I pointed this out to "Chance" and he actually said 'yeah but those are CGC graded, which sell for more" LOLOLOLOL. I kid you not! Anyway, they're playing hardball with me refusing to offer more than 1k. I even told them I'd accept a replacement copy instead of cash and they said no. It's because they know 1k won't buy a comparable copy. What a complete joke these people are. Anyway, I filed a police report with the San Diego PD and advise anyone else being jacked by these scammers to do the same. CBCS - Comic Books Near Me - Dallas, Texas

I had submitted a book at New York comic con in 2021, I did have a representative from CBCS witness Chris Claremont sign the comic. I received my comic about two weeks ago and noticed that it says verified signature versus witness signature. I was charged an additional $25 on top of the $43 I was originally charged and now my label says verified versus witness signature. I have attempted 3 times now over the past two weeks to speak with customer service but have yet to receive a a response back. I even have a copy of my receipt that contains the signature of the representative who witnessed the Claremont signature as well. At this point I have learned that you get what you pay for, I should have waited to have CGC grade this comic. The lack of customer service and the inability to correct such an obvious error is utterly infuriating. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! In august i went to Megacon and sent three books to them for grading. The man at the booth said two months. That was august. Since then, @cbcscomics has double charged me and has yet to send me my books (one of which is action comics #98). Every time i call their customer service i get their call center overseas and am told i will get an email or phone call back, which i never get. Saurav, apparently a supervisor there, apologized profusely and said he would handle my problem and get me my books back and that i would never have to speak to anyone else. Since then he has done nothing but avoid my calls. And i call because this company has consistently not done what they said they would and they still have my books. I assume they have no plans on sending them back so i hope blowing up their Instagram account will do the trick. read more

This companies customer service is the worst in the world, and their turnaround times are horrendous. Whatever you do, dont use their grading services, use CGC. You pay a little more, and if you have to speak to someone at CGC, you will get someone on the phone every time you call. It takes weeks for CBCS to respond, that is even if they respond. Oh, and their slabs are all &**ucked up. Check you slabs carefully, you will see a major mess on the slabs. It also seems to me that you cant resell their slabbed comics for as much as you would get for a CGC comic. I could probably go on and on about this company. Bottom line, I so regret grading a single comic by this company. read more

I was at Terriffcon and I rep an artist. At least 4-5 times a collector would approach our table and say that their comic book was just a "regular" book to be signed. I would look over 15 -20 feet or so and see someone looking towards our booth. Seeing that the book in front of me looked like a "Signature" book I asked the collector's again and they again said just a "regular" book to be signed. When I signaled the person looking over to us I asked them if they were a witness. They said yes and I asked them why they did Not come up with the collector (as they are Supposed to) to let me know so I could charge the right price. They either said they were new or did not even answer. The collector of course said that he did not understand. This happens numerous times at the shows and it is sad that they Love the artist's but want to rip them off to save a couple of dollars. CBCS did a Poor job at this show for sure !! read more

Even though CBCS is cheaper than CGC, they are not worth it. My last submission was delivered by USPS but never showed up on my dashboard. I emailed 5 times without a response. I assumed my books were lost by them. When they do process my previous books, they take forever to send back my books. Customer service is the worst. When I call CGC, a real person answers the phone and checks the system on my books, which never happens at CBCS. At the shows, you will never see a crowd around their table. read more

I've contacted CBCS customer service several times regarding a pressing survey that I was invited to participate in. The link to the survey never worked and all that I've ever received from their so-called "customer service" is a run around, lies and lame excuses. They are highly disappointing to say the least and quite frankly, I really don't understand why any of them have a job.
