Thank gosh another B&N is still open!…read more I was soo looking forward to heading to the magazine rack for updated items. I was not disappointed. They were nice and organized! (I bought a True West magazine) Lots of Books, videos, DVD's, and other great stuff!! Ravenburgers Puzzles and music are still options for purchase too. Not necessarily in that order. I love any book store! This one has a nice discounted section. I think that's where I end up 99% of the time. I almost always find one affordable book I can't live without. The medical section is pretty pitiful. Books in this section are dated and honestly pretty crappy. I have noticed that the majority of the people sitting around reading magazines are over the age of 50. In years previous it was 30 something folks. I guess the demographics of readers hasn't changed, I aged with them! Lol Reading books feels like it's becoming a thing of the past. Many people today appear to read books either on their kindles or not at all. I've always been a reader and love turning the pages of a book. A Starbucks is located within B&N. Nice touch! They do close down an 1 hour before the book store I'm guessing for clean up. October 2025

I mentioned in one of my reviews how the Denton B&N store has fantastic displays, well, so does this store. I am coming to realize that I prefer the older stores, as they really create the kind of child wonder I want my grandchildren to experience. And that child wonder is truly the design and layout of the store. I needed some assistance and the staff working there was truly kind to me and patient, as I had many questions. I will skip past three B&N stores in my area to go to this store going forward.

I have been shopping at Half Price Books for most of my book-buying life. I remember shopping here…read moreall through high school, and I've continued to shop here when I return to Dallas (my hometown) for visits. To sum up my review, Half Price Books ruined me for all other used bookstores. Since leaving Dallas, I've lived in 6 other cities. While some had some pretty decent used bookstores (others not so much), none even come close to HPB. It was one of the many things I took for granted growing up in Texas/Dallas. I thought all cities had stores as large and well-stocked as HPB until I left. Most cities (even large ones) just don't. I've been shopping at HPB since the early 2000s (maybe the 1990s, too), but it's been open since 1972, and this Northwest Highway location is the original - its flagship store. It's huge. In a world with fewer and fewer bookstores (thanks, Amazon), bookstores have also gotten tinier and tinier (some are about the size of postage stamps now, but I'm still happy to visit and support them!). Not HPB. This location is 54,000 square feet. 54,000 square feet!!! There's a coffeeshop (La Casita Coffee at HPB), a large community space (where they host signings and author events, live music, and a monthly game night), and tons of places to sit, read, study, etc. (I should point out that not all Half Price Books locations are THIS large. Most - and I've shopped at a lot of other locations across Texas - are still pretty large stores, but this flagship location is massive. Founded in Dallas, many - 37 - of their 100+ stores are in Texas.) The store is also incredibly well stocked, housing more than half million books and then tons of movies, vinyl, CDs, games, and other items. When I say well-stocked, they have more books than this bibliophile can even process, including tons of mass market paperbacks, rare books, art/photograph books, and more. If you're looking for a classic, they'll have 40 copies (I was looking for an anthology of plays by Eugene O'Neill with a certain play included when I visited this past Saturday, had had about 10 options - and that's for a play not included in the larger anthologies). If you're looking for something rarer, they still might have it. But it's also a great place to browse - to come not knowing what you want. On my most recent visit this past weekend, I left with 3 or 4 books - two I wasn't really looking for and 1 I was. I also grabbed a coffee with my family in the cafe. If you have books you need to sell, this is the place. There's an area in the back where they'll take your books and then you can shop while they review. Then they'll call you up over the speaker in the bookstore when they have an offer for you. Don't expect a lot of money per book, but it's a great way to pass along a book you're done with to get something new to read. I can't say enough about this location of Half Price Books. I've loved it for more than half my life, and it's still the used bookstore I measure all others against. If you love a bookstore, you simply have to shop at this flagship store.

I absolutely love this location and could spend hours on end roaming the aisles with my TBR list…read more Whether you're searching for a new title off the NYT's Bestseller List or one from five years ago, it's more than likely here. Music, games, DVDs and rare titles/collectible items have huge sections, as well. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly; especially those in the Buy Back area! There is plenty of quiet space tucked away for workday tasks or a quick Zoom meeting and you can even bring your puppy (on a leash, of course). There's an attached coffee shop for sustenance and nice, clean bathrooms, too.

As a huge book collector, this place felt like a treasure trove. There was truly something for everyone, and the prices were fantastic. One of my favorite finds was a beautiful collection of Mark Twain stories -- such a gem. I also picked up a few books for my daughter, and we had the best time browsing together. The kids section was so sweet and welcoming. She was getting into everything (as toddlers do!), but everyone was so kind and understanding. The rest of the store has a bit more of a library feel -- lots of readers quietly flipping through pages, sitting on benches and tucked-away desks -- which I think is wonderful. I was mindful of the more relaxed, peaceful atmosphere outside the kids area, but it was really heartwarming to be in a space where people clearly love books and value time spent with them. You can tell this place is run by people who genuinely care about reading and community. I just want to see this business thrive. We'll definitely try to stop by again before heading home. I absolutely loved it here.

Fellow K-Pop collectors please read! I brought in the albums…read morepictured - six had everything and the rest had everything except the photocard - and was offered $6. I asked about the albums they sell, which often don't have photocards, and they said those were "mistake offers" or donations. I wasn't going to post a review, but after getting home and opening one of the albums I noticed they damaged the photocard. It was wedged as far into the crease of the page as possible, causing the top left corner to be bent, so I actually lost money since a damaged card lowers the value of it and the album! So, PSA to anyone looking to sell K-Pop albums: they must have photocards or they won't take them! Also, please check how they place photocards and other inclusions in your albums before you leave in case they damage something! Finally, please dm me on Instagram @gp1117.trades if you'd like to buy any albums. Photocards are included in Frequency (damaged), No Labels, Play Hard, Face The Sun (Mingyu and Vernon) and Oddinary. They're around $2-$10 plus shipping, and I also have photocards for sale and trade :)

There was a huge variety of books and an impressive selection of games as well. The overall atmosphere was what really stood out. It wasn't overly "designed" or fancy, but it had such a warm, welcoming vibe. Everyone seemed relaxed and happy--almost like stepping into a little utopian pocket of calm. Even the staff were incredibly friendly. The cashier chatted with us about different sections and recommended a book because we looked like we were enjoying ourselves. It felt playful, social, and genuinely fun. The store was very well organized too. Nothing seemed out of place, which made browsing easy. There were maybe 15-20 customers while we were there, but because the space is large it didn't feel crowded at all. At the same time, it was nice that there were other people around--sometimes being the only customer in a store can feel awkward. The pricing on games was another pleasant surprise. Some were as low as $6-$7, and a few were even sealed, which you almost never see at that price. I'm not sure exactly how their inventory system works, but the deals were great. Location-wise it's super convenient--right off the highway with plenty of parking. Overall, it was a top-tier experience and a genuinely fun outing. If you're visiting Dallas, especially with kids, this would be a great stop. It looks like a chain, so I'm curious if other locations have the same vibe, but based on this visit I would absolutely recommend it and would definitely go back.

I will never hate on half price books so that's why I'm not giving them any less than 5 stars…read more BUT...BUT! My issue is with their buying your books concept. I showed up here with a huge duffel back filled with brand new books- I've been cleaning out my closet and decided why not get some money for these anyway-- I read on my iPad now (I know, I'm sorry.) The guy at the desk was super nice and helpful-- explained the process of how it works: -They scan each book in their system and the computer basically tells them how much each book is valued. I didn't wait that long until they called my name and I'm thinking "ok, I'm at least gonna get like 90$ for these..." NOPE! The huge duffel bag filled with books was worth to them... Ready for it? $12.87!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Insane. I'm sorry but that is such a scam. I will always love half price books, I spent a lot of time in the one off Northwest Highway as a kid and got all my books from there. But this was just extremely sad. I know for a fact if I said ok, that's fine, they would turn around and sell EACH BOOK for AT LEAST $9.99. Don't waste your time lugging a heavy bag filled with books. Just keep them or sell online. So sorry.
