We were also thinking of going to the Sushi restaurant next door but when we saw this restaurant was packed on a Sunday night, we knew we had to try. Much to our delight the food was very tasty. We ordered the meat platter to share. Every item was seasoned well and tender. Probably one of the best Persian I've had and I've tried quite a few in Lower Mainland. The service was a bit slow at first but it was a busy night and there was a big group there for a Christmas party. Once it cleared up, service was more attentive. Also to our delight, while we were towards the end of our meal, a table of men suddenly got up and started dancing! The owner/managed was so nice, he even turned up the music and encouraged us and the big group to dance. People were dancing and eating. We definitely didn't expect a fun quiet Sunday dinner turned to be a fun time. We'll have to venture out to Coquitlam again to try more dishes and hopefully perhaps there will be another impromptu dancing. lol.

The koobideh was a bit dry; I wish it had been juicier and softer. As for the lamb shank, I noticed it was much smaller than I expected--perhaps smaller portions have become common at other restaurants recently. The takeout deal was quite good overall. I think I'll try a different item on my next visit to explore more of their menu.

I love their fluffy & succulent rice (perfectly cooked)! - Joojeh Kabab with rice (chicken): The chicken pieces were grilled beautifully & very flavorful. - Koobideh Kabab with rice (ground sirloin): flavorful meat and grilled perfectly. - Fish Kabab with rice: it was just ok. Not our favorite - Mirza Gasemi with rice (BBQ eggplant): the sauce was flavorful & tasty! The eggplant was cooked until it's soft yet it wasn't mushy. I will definitely come back to eat there again.

Overall: Great food, great atmosphere! Highly recommend checking it out…read more Atmosphere: this restaurant is attached to the bazaar in the back which was something different and exciting. They had a bar that had a great set up and looked great. A little too dark I would say, but it was fine. Food: Yummy, yummy, yummy! They had traditional Persian food that just tasted amazing! In addition, they had other options such as burgers, sandwiches, pasta, wings, and much more. Having that variety was great because if someone didn't want to a get Persian meal, that had a wide variety of other choices! I had the beef/lamb kebab and it was great! The meat was super tender and moist. The rice was cooked just right and I don't know what salad dressing they used, but it was one of my favorite!! Highly recommend, great place. Service: Our server was fantastic! She engaged with us beyond just taking out order. She seemed genuinely engaged and did a great job of being attentive to what we needed. One of the best servers I've had in a while!

This place has a good vibe, friendly staff...from the cashier to the bakery, to the deli counter ending at the restaurant section...we received warm attentive service. Love their fresh meat section and their ground lamb was wonderful. Their grocery deli section is decent but could have more variety. We tried their cream puff and coconut rollette ....it didn't taste fresh. It didn't taste as if it had been freshly baked that day. Perhaps had been previously prepared and refrigerated. The pastry had collected moisture instead of it being flakey and crisp, which indicates pre-refrigeration. I guess my standards for a bakery are quite high. Fresh baked goods daily. The restaurant. Even though the portion size and quality needs improvement....I have to be fair and acknowledge their affordable and reasonable menu pricing. You get what you pay for. Yup. That pretty much sums it up.

I shared the Qabuli Pulao (27.99) and we even had some leftover since it was very rich and hearty! The rice was buttery and despite not being a big raisin fan, the sweetness of the raisins complemented the dish very well. The lamb shank was tender and easily fell off the bone as pictured, and was in some sort of slightly heated tomato sauce. I'd want to try the Uzbeki Pulao next time. As for the pot of Turkish tea (3.99), it came in a nice set with sugar cubes, definitely a bit on the strong bitter side but very pretty and great for sharing. Same with the pistachio halwa (6.99), I found it to be quite bitter and am not sure if that's the norm or not.. didn't love it. But overall, I liked the ambiance and the service was good, the server answered all my questions! Bonus points for the jazz playlist they had playing during my visit.

You can order takeout or dine-in for Saray but you can only order takeout for Noon. I saw some people walk in and be seated only to want the Persian cuisine and be turned away because no sit down for the Iranian food is offered. (Different owners, different rules and arrangements I suppose) If you can get past that and are ok with takeout the food was amazing. Portion size for the price was very well received. We ordered the Joojeh and lamb chops and both were cooked and tasted EXCELLENT. I forgot to take a picture of the lamb chops but I assure you they were done perfectly. There's a lamb above the chops on the menu which is actually rack of lamb that doesn't specifically state that in the description so if your in for a rack don't worry they have that too.

Very tasty. You could tell it was marinated before-hand as it was tender and grilled just right. I asked if the Dolmathes were home-made, but it isn't it's canned. You must be clear with your order to make sure they get it right. For example they forgot my kebab plate today so I had to remind them. Another thing, they usually carry breakfast cream which you won't find elsewhere. It's so good, creamy and fresh. They have ayran, shallot yoghurt and some beverages on their fridge as well. I wasn't expecting the special to be this huge, I would even say good for two. The server said that its the same portion as the dinner platter but with a cheaper price tag. For an $11.95 special though, I'm not complaining, however, the lamb was a bit chewy and could need a little more salt.
