My husband and I came to the Timonium, MD location after 7:30 pm on 1/5/23 and were very disappointed by the dirty and disorganized the food counter and what we could see of the kitchen. The counter was littered with spilled food, and many containers were missing. The only container in the grains section was black lentils which turned out to be undercooked (undercooked lentils can cause vomiting and diarrhea). My husband asked for brown rice, and the employee went to the kitchen to get some. It turned out to be white rice when my husband ate his order. There seemed to be enough staff, so I'm not sure why the counter and kitchen were in such disarray. There was a steady stream of customers, but the restaurant wasn't crowded. My guess is the staff are not properly trained, and/or the manager isn't doing their job. Extremely disappointing. Don't eat here. read more

The food is delicious and the price is pretty darn reasonable! My favorite: build my own bowl with lentils, chicken, Kalamata olives and a ton of other toppings. I just want to preface by saying I downloaded this app specifically to write this review. This is by far the WORST Cava I've ever been to. The food is good, however the service is HORRIBLE. The workers are so incompetent and every time I visit they never have a good attitude or they are high as a kite. Aside from the aroma of Marijuana, they are always out of ingredients and I mean ALWAYS. Every time I order they are out of 3-4 items and never compensate for it. I ordered a salad on door dash. I asked for the dressing and pita strips to be on the side so I could eat the "salad" a few hours later. This salad was aweful. There were 6 lettuce leaves and no Romaine lettuce after I chose Romaine lettuce. I added marinated red onions. The odor of the onions was extremely strong. Obviously the onions had not been marinating at all. Then the warm roasted vegetables were all mixed in and not on the side. All of the dressing was mixed in. It was a mushy onion mess that went straight into the trash. Go to Sweetgreens for a nice salad. read more

I've been to location multiple times and there is always some sort of minor issue that I'm able to overlook but tonight was over the top. They were nearly out of all main ingredients meats, rices, a lot of toppings, etc. Minimum apologies for the lack of available items. Behind the counter was an absolute mess and so was the dining area. Huge wait for to go orders as well.. I Love CAVA food, it is fresh and well cooked, the staff is pleasant at White Marsh, Arundel Mill. Columbia are great and I love talking with them. I go to these two Cava stores 2-3 times a week! Can be a wait but they are fast. But my experience at the Timonium store, I have visited 4 times and the service is a real challenge, I don't know if it is the staff or how the management is directing the staff! The salad bins were just about empty, if you ask for additional salad greens, there is an attitude while they are scraping around in the Bin to give you 2 more leaves! (3) of the Hummus containers were empty! I ask for 2 dips and the staff is scraping all of the edges of the container, to keep from getting fresh produce and whatever he scraped up from corners was it, not even a full dip! When I asked for a 1/4 piece of bread, he did not know what I was talking about. Food was handed to me in my hand, when I asked for a bag, he said as he pointed " Bags are over there"! It is hard balancing the dressing containers on top of the bowl while it is raining. I have been in stores where the mangers are on the staff, to limit what is given to the customer! I've been here a few times since they've open. The food is really, very good. I'd like a few more choices that aren't spicy though. Seems like everything except chicken and veggies are spicy. The service is THE WORST! Before today I've always gone in, stood in line, and placed my order. I'm usually met with a woman who doesn't want to be there. I've only encountered one person who smiles and seems to like serving customers. Today I put an order in online to take advantage of the app. At first I thought the place was packed. Turns out it was packed...with people waiting for their online order. According to the app, I had a 1:15 pickup time. 1:15 came and went so I asked the woman next to me how long she had been waiting. She said her pickup time was 12:30. The few people who did come in to order, walked through the line right away. I did consider walking through the line to reorder, but didn't want to pay twice since I already ordered and paid online. I ended up leaving about 2:00 because I just couldn't stay any longer. When I went to the app to cancel my order, there was no way to cancel. I tried to contact someone to get my refund since I didn't get my food, but couldn't get ahold of anyone anywhere, headquarters or at the store. I've been to many cavas but this one needs some improvement. The rice is not warm which is not the standard. They were out of half of the toppings and the honey chicken wasn't shredded enough - there were rather white large pieces. I also get free pita bread but didn't get any the 2 times I have been here. Obviously they are understaffed - line was out the door! But they need to strategize on how to fix the other issues in the meantime. I have eaten at the CAVA in Washington DC numerous times and was so excited to have one opening close to me. My daughter and I finally went to lunch there (ordered online and carried out). Imagine my surprise when I got home and opened our bowls to see what looked like half portions inside. I know what it's supposed to look like, and mine did not compare. While the food that was there tasted good, my half portion sure didn't rate the price. Maybe going into the restaurant and watching them make the order would have turned out better since it would have been obvious that they were cheating us out of our meal. I have been so excited to try this place since it recently opened but my first experience at this location was not the best. We ordered take out and the food was not ready within the time we were told and we ended up waiting almost an hour. We were not able to get pita because they were out of it. All four of us ordered grilled chicken and we were wondering if we were given the right chicken because it was so spicy. There was another chicken that was spicy but we did not order that. Since this place has recently open I would definitely be interested in trying it again since it's possible they just need to work out some kinks to have things go a bit smoother. Tip: Do not order on the mobile app unless you are willing to wait an hour for the staff to make your order at the Timonium location (especially during busy times). Walk-in traffic is served more quicker. I ordered on my mobile app today. (I should have learned my lesson from 10 days ago!). Pickup time was 1215pm but my order wasn't ready until 135pm. The last time I went it was an hour wait. The staff said some people did not show up for work and that they were short staffed. There were 8 other people waiting for their mobile orders. At least 3 people couldn't wait for their orders so they left. One of the workers told everyone to fall in the regular line in order to get our mobile orders faster. I know this location is new but Cava needs to get this location properly staffed or trained appropriately in order to handle the abundance of mobile and Doordash orders. There was only one person in the back handling the online orders and it seems like she was inundated by the orders that instead of going by how the order came in, she came out from the prep area and asked which customers were in the store waiting for their order and then she made the order on the spot. (I suppose she was expecting some people to not pick up their orders due to the long wait times). There was another person in the back but he was only cooking. There were only 2 people working the front end area and the front line was moving steadily for walk in customers.. The worker in the back was apologetic and offering free drinks but this is unacceptable. Yesterday I went to the White Marsh Cava farther away, I ordered online and I was able to pickup my order when I arrived. Truly unacceptable as this has happened again on another visit. My husband and I have been to the Cava downtown and the one in White Marsh. We were super excited for one to open in Timonium. The staff was still new and learning which is understandable. We ordered two pita wraps and we're shocked at how watery the tzatziki sauce was. It was literally like the wrap was dipped in the sauce. Overall, we were meh about this Cava location. It's sloppy missing ingredients, too much of some ingredients and too little of others throwing the good dishes off balance making them inedible. First off, I loooove CAVA. But most importantly, this is my favorite CAVA in the surrounding Baltimore area. I've been many times over this summer and always ordered it. Every time I've been in, I am always greeted and served quickly. I went on Monday and was greeted with kindness. My bowl was made efficiently and with ease. This is by far the worst run Cava in the DMV area. The place is always a mess in the food area, it takes forever to get an order no matter how many people are in the store and food isn't as fresh as it should be. On my last visit the manger literally told the workers to make online orders first because they are paid orders as if I was getting a free meal standing in the line. I do have to say the manager seemed to be doing her best but managing a restaurant isn't everyone's strength. Worst service I've ever had at a Cava. They were out of all but three dips, white rice and lentils, dips toppings such as corn and feta, dressings too. They were spending all their time talking to each other behind the counter while customers stood waiting to be served. When I suggested to the manager (Kia I think) that they spend more time talking with customers as opposed to themselves, she copped a major attitude. If she were my employee, I would have fired her on the spot. We should have gone next door to Panera instead. Their customer service is typically excellent. read more

Dirty, unorganized and employees have little to no people skills. If you ever walk through the door at this cava expect to be greeted with a cold stare and little else. Next you're finally at the last station... time to put on your sides!!! Only to find that they have run out of what you want and for whatever reason have refused to refill it. Wasn't that a great experience that makes you want to come back? No? Well lets try to order online... Online order submitted... your order will be ready at 6:15pm. You arrive on time thinking your food will be ready but it never is so you wait and wait... and wait... until it's finally ready at 645pm disgruntled you finally get back home and sit down to eat. This CAVA located was HORRIBLE - I am still pissed 2 days later. I am very busy, & out of my house Mon-Thurs from 6:00AM to 9:30PM. On Tuesday (3/21/2023), the meal for the night was CAVA so my wife didn't need to cook. On my way home, I was certain the White Marsh location by my house closed at 9PM & my GPS told me my arrival time would be 9:02PM. I saw that there was one on York Road, right along my way, that would put me there at 8:48PM. Under the assumption that this location ALSO closed at 9PM, I sped over. I arrived at 8:47PM to grab two bowls to go. Walking up to the door, I was pleased to see that it said the hours were until 10PM every day. I no longer felt like an a-hole since there was over an hour until they closed. However, the whole place looked like it was about to lock its doors. All the chairs were up for the night, & the staff (there were three or four people working that I could actively see) were working on their closing duties. I walked up to the space where you put in your order, & it took the guy a good while to come over to me. When he got there, he just looked at me & i don't recall him asking if I was ready to order. Feeling awkward, I just started my order - One bowl with Splendid Greens & Lentils & the other with Splendid Greens & Right Rice. First, he kept asking me a question about what I wanted in the bowl that I could not understand. He then pointed, said Right Rice, & I confirmed. After I confirmed, he said whatever else he had said before, which I still have no earthly idea. After that was done, it was time for the dips. I have been to CAVA many, many, many times. & as we all know, you get three scoops of whatever. For my wife's with the lentils, I asked for Crazy Feta. He said they were out. Then, as I'm trying to think of what else she might like, he says, "Hold on," opens the fridge below him, & pulls out a fresh, full Crazy Feta container. I was thinking like, "Okay..." but kept moving along. However, he put the Crazy Feta on my bowl. I told him it needed to go on the other, but it was fine to not throw away the bowl - just scoop or scrape it off & I would be just fine. As I'm telling him this, he rolls his eyes and slowly walks over to the trash can & sort of slow motion threw the bowl away & went back to make it again, asking me to remind him of what was in it. We begin again. The dips are on the right bowls, though I have to tell him several times to give three for each of them - not one, not two. Either during the dips or right before, some other people came into the restaurant. At this point, it was about 8:55PM-9:00PM. The man making my food begins to complain out loud about it. Saying how there are now suddenly all these people (there were two people that came in, three tops). I ask him, "You're open until 10:00PM, right?" He said, "Yes." I said, "Okay." He then said, "But it's 9PM." To which I said, "... but ... you are open until 10:00PM ... right?" & he sighed loudly & said, "Yes." After this, we go for proteins. I get half veggies/half grilled chicken. My wife just gets chicken. I put this here because after getting home & eating it, our mouths were on fire because he had put Harissa Chicken in the bowl. My wife like spicy, but I cannot eat it so this ended up giving me stomach issues for the rest of the night, after I stopped eating it. Going to the toppings, I don't really have anything to report here apart from him kind of slamming spoons around. Then the dressing. I only like one - Lemon Herb Tahini. So of course, I ask for it. He says they're out. Then tells me to hold on. Like the dip thing from before. He wanders away for a while. I don't know what he was doing. Someone brings a bottle up & puts it on the counter in front of the bin where he other dressings are. So, you would have to literally reach around or over this bottle to get to any of the others. When he comes back, he still says they're out. I'm looking at this bottle, but I don't remember what the Lemon Herb Tahini looks like automatically, so I say, "Okay" & I take a bit to look at the others to decide on what I can attempt to try that I might like or be able to tolerate at this point. I go with the Dill Yogurt stuff. He squirts it on & then says, "Here's the Lemon Herb Tahini, want it?" & just squirts that on. At this point I say, "Dude, are you serious right now? You said you were out, & it was right in front of you. Now I have this other stuff I did not want at all, & now this is on there too." He looks me dead in the eyes & says, "It's not my fault." I decide I just get through this, pay, and go home. So I say, "It's fine, no worries." He then says, "It was an accident." I say, "It's all good, no worries." He says "Do you want me to make it AGAIN?" I said, "No, it's fine." This goes back and forth a little before I pay and I leave. It was just a really bad experience. OH, not to mention, my wife found four long hairs in her food and ended up having to throw it away. Rude and disgusting. read more

This location is SUCH a disappointment. My husband and I love CAVA but not at this location. We have given them so many tries but after today I've had enough... we have continuously experienced long waits, out of stock ingredients, wrong orders missing things, and staff that doesn't seem to care at all. We will still support CAVA in White Marsh and Owings Mills but not this one....I suspect they'll be out of business soon. read more

My chief complaint is about the general lack of cleanliness at this location. This spot is infested with flies and gnats. They're everywhere. Flies were buzzing around the service line while I was there. The wall behind the fountain beverage area was COVERED in fruit flies indicating that the area had not been wiped down. The station for utensils and pick up orders was covered in spilled food and dust. In general, there was an overall perception of be place being dirty, for me. read more
