Have always heard favorable opinions about CAVA, so finally decided to give it a try. Ordered grain bowl with falafel and spicy lamb meatballs. Maybe it was just my combo of chosen ingredients and dressing but I wasn't really impressed, except for the lamb meatballs. Those alone are worth giving it another try. Falafel was completely disappointing. It had to be undercooked unless their version is supposed to be mushy and have a consistency more like hummus on the inside than traditional falafel. Might go back for the lamb but will definitely not go for the falafel again. read more

I am a fan! Almost a mediterran version of Chipotle and is a great "on the go" healthy option. I feel you get your money's worth, though I am not a fan of their falafel. I recently was introduced to the concept that is Cava, I have been missing it out in life. Yesterday I was at your Sterling location yesterday and it was relatively busy for the time frame I was there. I was thoroughly impressed by the cashier Hunter, he noticed that I was waiting on chicken to complete my meal. Because of the inconvenience he took care of my meal, of which I was totally happy paying for but he insisted because I had to wait. I recently worked as a manager for Glory Days Grill and Hunter is the type of employee that every manager dreams of when it comes to guest interaction. Food is delicious. This place is always cleaning an hour before they close that irritates me. They also told me they didn't have anymore white rice at 9:17 and that it would take till after they closed to make more...HIGHLY UNLIKELY. I can make rice at home in 20 mins. Then we when we're checking out at 9:18 she said to go right? I was like uhm sure. I don't like to feel like I can't dine in. In 2019 if you're a new restaurant please explain to employees that you close at 10 and will leave by 10:30 after cleaning. I came here the first week it opened and let me just say- Cava is my new favorite fast casual restaurant!! I got a grain bowl with braised lamb and it was absolutely amazing. The staff gave me some suggestions so I wasn't lost when I was ordering. They even let me sample some of the sauces which was very kind of them. I also LOVED their house made teas. Very unique and fresh tasting. The store was also incredibly neat and clean. The decor was modern and tasteful. I felt so comfortable and satisfied eating there. Great food, great location, great staff! I will definitely be returning very soon! I've already recommended it to all my friends, family, and coworkers! Definitely give it a try. The new Cascades Landing area is just gorgeous and I'm so happy they built it. Sterling needed the upgrade badly! read more

I am a big Cava fan. Fast casual restaurant with nutritious yet delicious options, including some really flavorful meats. I do have some complaints about the restaurant. The store is undersized (didn't they learn anything from their Tyson's store?) and the layout is awful. There are two separate seating sections separated by a narrow passage. When the place is busy, the food line gets backed up into the narrow passage, making it very difficult to carry your tray to the other food section. The people in line have to take a few steps back to create enough space to allow you through. Its not fun to navigate. My friend came up with a novel solution. He exited the store from the one food section, walked around the store from the outside, and then reentered the store from the other location. Its like he discovered a secret passage ala the Clue board game. read more

First time there. Pros: 1) The service is pretty fast, you get your food almost immediately. 2) Prices are fair, $7-$10 per bowl. Cons: 1) The place is extremely small, maybe 20 chairs total. So if you'll go there as a group of 5+ people, you'll most probably have problems finding spot to seat. 2) I've chosen brown rice and it looked like it was overcooked or was staying on the stove for too long, cause there were burned rice kernels sticked together, like they were stuck to the bottom of the pan or to the sides. It's impossible to chew them, they're hard as raw rice, and it's not healthy as you understand. So I've removed them from the plate to the napkin to throw away. Also it's mixed with all the other ingredients in your bowl, so it's pretty hard to separate it. My friends had to do same, because of same problem. At some point, I think it was the owner who started walking between the tables and asking people what do they think about the place. We've said it was good, but the burned rice spoiled all the impression of our first visit. He said he'll "take care of it". Nice! - we've thought. We were sitting there for another like 10 minutes, waiting what going to happen next. You'd expect him going to kitchen and asking the cook to replace the rice pan, or maybe coming back to us offering some discount for the next visit as an apology? You're wrong :) He just took my napkin and thrown away that burned rice to a trash can. We haven't seen him again. We haven't seen them replacing the rice pan, we haven't seen him going to the kitchen. Looks like that's how they solve issues there :D read more

The food at CAVA is good and is consistent throughout all the locations. However, this particular location has the rudest employees I have ever encountered with this food chain. Every single time I have been to this particular location, I have been rubbed the wrong way by the rude and indifferent attitude of the employees. Moreover, there has been an occasion where my husband and I arrived about half hour before they closed. They acted annoyed with us and were speaking Spanish to each other, complaining about customers. ( I speak Spanish and understood the entire conversation). We took our food to go and barely opened the door when they started blasting the after hours music when the store closes. I used to work at a restaurant and this is common when all the customers are out of the restaurant. We avoid this location and now eat at CAVA occasionally when we are in the D.C. area or Reston. This store definitely is not up to par with the standards upheld by the other locations. read more

I am excited that Cava opened at sterling, near my work place. Me and my coworkers usually order the food online and go pickup..Its quick, and the food is so fresh!! Love the way they arrange the food in the bowl and package it. I once had an issue with the online system, where i ended up double ordering the food. I visited your Sterling, VA location on 8/22/17 at 7:51pm. Excited because this was our first experience at a Cava. I walked in with my fiancé . We stood there about 2-5 minutes. No one greeted us. They just stared at us. I stepped up and said hi. I even explained to them this was my first time at the restaurant . They just said oh. I asked them what's a popular thing to get. They couldn't give me a answer. I felt I was a huge inconvenience to them. Because the whole time they all acted non chalant. The one who was at the beginning of the food line was preoccupied by her phone . The other two people who stood at the end of the food line were just hanging out and talking . My food was cold and tasted terrible. Got home and had to basically microwave a $20 meal. I called today 8/23/17 to make a complaint the supervisor answered and said there's no manager here. It's just me. How can she help me. So I started explaining my story to her. I guess it was too much and she didn't want to handle it. So she reported oh the manager was here last night and he will be in later or tomorrow. So mysteriously there's a manager. So last night all of these discrepancies were going on the manager just stood by and watched. This is the most terrible experience I've had at a restaurant in the past 2 years. read more

CAVA is a fast food esk type of place. Usually the lettuce is fresh, and unless you go at an odd time, the meats are fresh as well. Personally, I like the spiced lamb meatballs. There are up charges for both lamb items so watch out for that. The chicken, to me, is over cooked. Good for a quick, healthy lunch. read more
