This place is way too overhyped. As previous reviews have said, you really just come here for the decorations and not the service or the food. The food leaves much to be desired and the service is completely lacking. My friends and I were seated near the back corner table and barely had the waitress check on us. I had chicken Marsala which was ok but nothing you couldn't get at your local Italian restaurant. I had one of the signature cocktails and it was in a plastic cup and about two sips. I highly doubt I'll be back. Would be nice to bring kids for a special occasion but definitely not a date night or girls night. read more

The way the restaurant was decorated with Christmas lights on the outside was just beautiful. and the first glimpse of the inside was just breathtaking. Soon after, I felt claustrophobic! There were too many people going in-and-out of beautifully decorated but over-crowded dining rooms, and most servers walking to and from the kitchen managed to smile or keep a straight face as they narrowly avoided a collision with guests. This place was supposed to be a fancy, upscale restaurant, but there were many things that just fell short of the expectation. The food was just average and not worth the price; the dress code was either not enforced or confusing for guests who showed up in sweatpants and baseball hats; the bar which was playing a football game was slow at getting drinks out to guests at the bar and the entire restaurant. I bought a CAVA gift card that was supposed to be a Christmas present and never received it. I called multiple times before Christmas and was told each time they would "look into it." Nothing happened, and I couldn't give the gift. I called several more times after Christmas with the same response--no apology, no urgency. It wasn't resolved until 12/30/25, after finally reaching someone with more authority. The explanation I got was that they were busy and that another company handles gift cards. That may be true, but it's not the customer's problem. What's disappointing is that there was zero attempt to make things right--just excuses. I see a lot of hate on this restaurant as I'm writing this, and honestly not sure it's justified. We took my 7yr old daughter here during the Harry Potter theme (also COVID), and the food was great, had a kids filet, wife and I also had a filet, meat was done perfectly. The theme of HP was great. We went again tonight with my daughter and her friend to celebrate the Wicked theme, which we found out the whole staff actually does the decorations themselves. I understand it's a bit on the pricy side, but that atmosphere they create also takes time, and is part of the experience, the girls lost their minds. This place is so AMAZING! One of my favorite holidays is Christmas...so being here I was in heaven! When we looked on the website it said to be still set up as "Beauty & the Beast " themed. We was so excited when we arrived to see they had decorated for Christmas. Reservations have to be made online. We arrived 15mins early & was directed to sit at the bar where they came to get us from. WARNING: Two drinks ended up being over $40! The drinks were very strong! The seating in "The experience " room was very tight & close. Our servers were excellent,helpful & very attentive. There is plenty of parking with a wrap around lot around the building. We came in with a few other couples, but were pretty quickly seated. The waiter was friendly, but overall, the place was a bit sub-par. You definitely make reservations for the ambiance of the restaurant, which was greatly decorated. As I walked around the restaurant, it was more like I was a nuisance even though I respectfully made sure I wasn't in anyone's way. If the wait staff had offered to take pictures or smiled, it would've made the experience more memorable. Friends that had visited gave me a heads up the food was a disappointment so we ordered appetizers alone, which were pretty pricey. The six cheese garlic bread was super cheesy and of course greasy! It could've used more garlic and less butter since it's drenched in cheese. We ordered the whipped ricotta, which was very good with the Fig jam and crisp toasted bread (like crackers). We also ordered a charcuterie board as well. I'd recommend pairing the charcuterie with the whipped ricotta. The drinks were decent. I was expecting the pistachio ice cream martini to be more ice cream or creamy. The coconut tiki definitely lacked coconut flavor but was good tasting overall. I do not recommend getting dessert. I got a baklava dessert covered in cream. They doused cinnamon over it and got a tad carried away. It was overly sweet. The pistachio cheesecake was sour and I had to inform the waiter. He comped it, but was obviously disappointing. If you do come for the ambiance of the restaurant I'd recommend eating before coming. Grab an appetizer and drink. It's a beautiful restaurant and they did an excellent job with the decor. I would come back when they change the theme in a couple of months. Kenya the server was amazing. We had a difficult part of 12 and he handled it like a champ. Food wise though, it's just ok. It's not great and it's not bad. Food could be seasoned a little more though. Wow! What an incredible experience from start to finish. The decorations were absolutely BEAUTIFUL, creating such a welcoming and warm atmosphere. Even though the restaurant was clearly very busy, the service was impressively fast, and our server was so friendly and attentive, making the evening even more enjoyable. We started with the caprese salad and the 6 cheese garlic bread--and let me just say, HOLY MOLY that bread was out of this world! Perfectly cheesy, garlicky, and baked to perfection. For our main courses, we ordered the chicken parm and the surf and turf (filet with lobster tail stuffed with crab). I'm still dreaming about the lobster tail--it was absolutely divine. 1st impressions, not good. The main room & one of the adjoining rooms were supposedly closed for construction, so they were cramming everyone into the little side rooms & the acoustics were terrible! We were shouting to hear eachother across the table & I couldnt hear the waiter. I had to wait for the check to see what wine I wound up with, but our waiter was very nice & brought me 2 samples of Pino Grigio to taste. If you make reservations, go in a party of more than 2 people. There appeared to be more room around the larger tables. We were crammed into the corner against the wall & it was very clostrophobic & uncomfortable. The waiter told us there was no where else for us to sit except the bar & that the noise level was better in there, but I had brought my elderly mother as an Xmas present. She would have never been able to climb onto the tall chairs & eat. You cannot sit at a table without everyone in the party ordering an entree, not even with a plate fee, & cannot order just coffee & dessert, because it is only offered at the end of the meal, presented on a tray, (not listed on the menu). The waiter told us if we had opted for the bar we could have gotten an appetizer & entree, vs both having to order an entree at the table. I honestly COULDNT WAIT for the whole experience to be over, it was that bad!!!! I literally i wanted to run screaming from this resteraunt (I mean a 10 out of 10 bad with stressful noise level. I included a clip so you can hear for yourself. My phone was literally sitting on the table in front of me & you can barely hear me over the roar). The mashed potatoes were bland, but would be fine with salt, which they did not provide. The red velvet cake was ok, but I managed to polish it all off regardless.. The pistachio cheese cake was a hit w/ my mother. It was not very sweet, but it was definately cheesecake with a hint of pistachio flavor. I was glad her Pork was good & that she liked her dessert, considering both of us felt the same about the experience. I would not go back there again. The food wasn't that good, the acoustics were off-putting & the prices were very high. I thought the decorations where going to be more impressive than they were, & I just didn't feel that is was worth it. My mother said if it wasn't our Xmas present, that she would have wanted to leave, so it wasn't just me. The Oz Experience was amazing. We sat in Munchkinland and the attention to detail was incredible. All of the rooms were spectacular. The Glinda's Bubble drink was fun to have. It smoked and bubbled. This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I ordered the chicken marsala and it was completely inedible -- the sauce tasted nothing like marsala, the chicken was overcooked, and the mashed potatoes were cold. On top of that, they require every person at the table to order a full entrée, even if you've already ordered multiple appetizers. The hostess was incredibly rude, which set the tone right from the start. Honestly, the only redeeming quality of this place is the Christmas decor -- it's beautiful, but definitely not worth the $300 we spent on what was truly awful food. Took my mom here for Mother's Day lunch, we arrived about 15-20 min before our scheduled reservation time and were still seated promptly. Our server was friendly and attentive. Started off with the shrimp scampi appetizer, followed by chicken parm and chicken marsala. Everything was delicious. We each had a specialty drink (mine no alcohol) , dry ice always makes things fun! The desserts were AMAZING. If i could've had one of each, i honestly would've. All in all, we both throughly enjoyed our experience here. After all the mixed reviews I've seen on this place, I'm happy we came here. One of my favorite movies is Hocus Pocus and when I saw they had a themed bar I knew I had to check it out. The reviews of the food were not great, so I was not expecting much. But, I can say the lobster raviolis were not bad. The lobster meat in the raviolis was fresh and the lobster cream sauce had a great lobster flavor. I wish there was more meat in the raviolis. Meanwhile, my husband stayed to settle the bill since our night was unfortunately over. The waitress was an absolute gem. Comped the drink, called the manager over, really tried to make it right. Then Ryan showed up, the manager who must've majored in "How Not to Handle Customers 101." seems the drink was all he could do for us, because "accidents happen," and offered a "call if you need your dry cleaning paid." The whipped cream was sweet and tasted amazing! The presentation was beautiful as well and I loved that they accepted this special request. Summary: This place is fantastic! It's very elegant and beautiful. Reservations must be set at least two days in advance to attend. Our birthday was on Monday so we reserved for 7:30 and it was almost empty with a few other customers celebrating their birthdays as well which was nice. Keep in mind ordering a drink, appetizer, and a entree is mandatory so prepare to spend at least $60+ per person. Cava's decorations for the holidays are an absolute wonder. Every corner is touched with extravagant detail with elaborate and whimsical fixtures, displays and lights. Each dining room is decorated with an inspired theme. The bar, hallways, entrance and the bathrooms are covered with holiday decor. When you dine at Cava, you are there for the decorations. This was my second visit at Cava. We were celebrating a birthday with my family and with a few first timers. My first time visit was a few years ago when they had a Frozen inspired room, during the busiest season of December. Since this was after the holidays and a 3pm reservation on a Saturday, we missed the crowd completely. We were able to walk around the restaurant to view the other dining rooms and bar area. I don't remember being allowed to do this the first time. The decorations do make the restaurant fairly tight in areas, but they are currently in the works of an expansion and renovation. Please note that you need to have a reservation and make it far in advanced. They do have strict policies like you have to pay if someone in your party doesn't show up and everyone must order an entree. All of the info is posted on their website. The service was great, we had no issues. The staff were friendly, attentive, and our server was fantastic. Everyone definitely felt more at ease than my first visit with a very packed restaurant. We were seated in the Tangled-inspired room. Beautiful hanging lanterns, purple and gold lighting and ornaments, it was an elegant and tasteful homage to the Disney film. Unfortunately, I am giving Cava 3 stars for the food and price. The food quality does not match up to the price. It's expensive for mediocre food. The food we ordered was decent and good. To start, we shared the Six Cheese Garlic Bread that was a pull-a-part loaf of buttery and garlicky goodness. I was happy that they had a vegetarian menu and they were able to cater to my food allergies. I had the Vegetable Bruscetta Risotto that had zucchini, squash, peas and tasty sun-dried tomatoes. It was a generous portion and filling that I took half of it home. Other entrees that my family ordered were the Chicken Parmigiana, Chicken Marsala, and New York Strip. Dessert is what I look forward to and they bring a tray of all the dessert to look at. Who could resist that? We ordered a couple Peanut Butter and Chocolate cakes and a Lemon Cake to share. My review is written from the standpoint of a tourist with a stopover in Southington, so our experience at Cava was a one-time occurrence. The decor is over-the-top: we were seated in the Beauty and the Beast room which is a work of art. The two-person tables are a bit small, especially once all of the appetizers, wine, and entrees arrive. The food was good Italian -- not great, not innovative, and probably not worth the price charged without the spectacle of decor...but a meal here is clearly more about the spectacle so in that sense, it's justified. If you're visiting the area, you should try it, just to see the sights. If you live in the area, it's probably a one & done experience. read more

I live 3 and a half hours away and I really wanted to see this place with my family. well my daughter is autistic and is a very picky eater she wanted to go her for her birthday. well they have nothing on the menu she eats and asked if there was any way to make her a burger pizza chicken tenders and they said no. When I asked well I guess she can eat before we go well he said I would have to pay for a meal and I can bring it home. I'm sorry I'm not traveling 3 1/2 hours with food in my car. It's terrible how this place is run. Sadly, we made the assumption that the $58 lobster mac and cheese would have the lobster meat pulled and mixed in. The plate arrived with the lobster upside-down covered in sauce. So, awkwardly in your nice dress clothes you must pull the lobster out of the macaroni and sauce, then crack it to pull all of your meat out all while covered in the cheese sauce. What a mess and highly disappointed. The calamari was incredible and the sauce was so tasty. It had a ton of hot peppers which is out favorite. The gnocchi was a good size portion for the $33 price. I was cautious about coming here after reading many mediocre rated reviews. I had seen sponsored posts about this restaurant and still wanted to try it. I'm glad I did! Sometimes you have to try for yourself because reviews will not always reflect your experience! Our server was very attentive the whole night. We sat outside on the rooftop and it was such a nice experience. Cute decor and everyoneee was taking pictures. The wine was good and the food was delicious! Yes it's pricey because this is the place people will dress up and go all out to. For appetizers we got the fig spread and the octopus. They were delicious. For entrees both hubby and I got the lobster ravioli and it was amazing! For dessert we ended with some lovely pistacchio cheesecake. We had a lovely night! read more

I haven't even seen the other reviews, but I can guess that they're going to say the same exact thing that I am but I do have something specific to complain about. As most people would agree, the only reason to come to this restaurant is the famous decorations throughout the restaurant. It is truly spectacular and beautiful and it does make for many great photo opportunities. Coming now Within the month of February having the Valentine's themed room "Cupid's Cove" was really nice, that was the main thing. It's a short 2 1/2 hour trip from New York City where I live and we were actually spending the day before for Super Bowl Sunday in Stamford so we decided for my wife's birthday and for Valentines week to finally make it to this restaurant. Just to let you know, they do keep these decorations up from December up until the 24th of March which is really cool. Now the thing is there wasn't really anything wrong with the food, but it was absolutely nothing spectacular or different that you could not find in most cities, certainly New York City. As I mentioned the only reason to come to this place really is for the decorations. The service is pretty professional and it might not have been the service fault but initially I was asking a question about the quantity and size of the Alaskan king crab appetiser because the price for $24 was not that bad for Alaskan king crab. The server seemed extremely scripted and rushed although he was pleasant and professional but it seemed extremely scripted. Sure enough when the Alaskan King crab arrived it was basically just one leg split into four pieces trying to make it look much bigger than it really is with a couple of sources of cocktail and horseradish and a couple of lemons. I actually mentioned this to the food runner who dropped it off and he seemed amused that I would ask about the portion which I was told by the server is a very big and excellent portion. After the food runner walked away, he actually was overheard only about 5 feet away from me in the hallway, joking and laughing and commenting about how sure enough the guy at the table did make a comment about the size of the king crab. This was awkward and unprofessional, but I did not make a scene about it. it was my wife's birthday and we were charged for the dessert and the birthday singing which usually would be a chorus of all of the servers or at least two or three was just my server which basically was a whisper of a song. I kinda get it the room was kind of quiet so we really didn't wanna make too much of a scene anyway, but it is a birthday after all. Overall, not a bad place just try to be economic when you go there and avoid the alcohol drinks pregame before you go because the drinks are a fortune. read more
