In nut shell their portion size is inadequate especially protein part (chicken etc) is almost nonexistent. their customer service is laidback and sloppy. I ordered on cava app for pickup. They have a separate entrance for pickup. I arrived 20 minutes after the pickup time but The order wasn't there. I went to their register and one of their employees handed me the bowl with a receipt stuck on it. No bag, no spoons no napkins which I had specified in the order. They barely gave me a bag. Pickup orders should be ready in complete form especially when everything is specified in the order. Anyway, they have lot of competition in short pump especially from Mezeh and chipotle so they need to be on top of things. read more

Cava vs Mezeh -- what's the difference? Cava is another "fast food" East Mediterranean style restaurant with plenty of inside seating, as well as outside patio seating. For today's visit I got the greens and grains bowl - half chicken, half roasted vegetables + corn, tomatoes, cucumber, avocado, feta, pickled onions, roasted egg plant, olives, and lemon herb tahini - 7/10! The main difference I noticed between Cava and Mezeh is that this greens and grains bowl tastes salad-like, and almost "lighter"--very fresh, crisp. Cava's pita bread is also baked and seasoned (thicker chips) vs Mezeh's pita bread which is nothing special. The staff was friendly and yelled "welcome to Cava!" as I entered. There was no wait, and I was helped right away. The interior was cute, nothing special. No bar or mixed drinks, but they have their own versions of lemonade, juice, etc. read more

I used to love this place but half a handful of romaine with way too much tzatziki and hummus; cold overly salted and dry spicy falafel with two kids meals that also had too much salt and cold pitas was NOT worth $30. The staff looks bored and clearly aren't paying attention except for the very nice young gentleman on the register. I really don't think I'll be back and I would encourage others to go elsewhere. I wanted the kids to have a healthier meal than burgers and chicken tenders but honestly that would have probably tasted better for a way lower price. read more

Like a lot of people mentioned, as soon as you enter this place reminds you of chipotle. It's the same concept except that the Mexican stuff is replaced with Mediterranean, and of course it offers many more options! Nice contemporary setup, with fresh salads, variety of hummus to go on top of your bowls that can be loaded up with Mediterranean style chicken or the best spicy lamb meat balls I've had in a long time. Most of their sauces are yogurt based, and taste delicious. They do a selection of sparkling fruity lemonades and mexicane cola which tasted great! Felt it was a bit pricey for what you get, but overall it's a great healthy alternative when you want to quickly grab a lunch bowl! read more

I enjoyed my first trip to Cava. I stopped in for a late lunch and the restaurant was empty, so the employees were able to take their time walking me through the menu options. I wasn't familiar with many of the offerings, but was given recommendations on what would go well together. I ended up with a grains and greens bowl with spinach and jasmine basmati rice as the base, falafel balls, and a myriad of toppings including crazy feta, hummus, cucumbers, and pickled cabbage. The hummus was a bit grainy and with so many flavors mixed in it was difficult to distinguish what was in each bite, but everything tasted good! It's definitely much more filling and more exciting that a cold salad, but doesn't make you feel weighed down like other fast casual options. The restaurant itself is very cute, cozy and bright with a great outdoor seating area. I would definitely consider it for a sit down meal when I'm back in Short Pump. read more

Today I went into cava and got my usual bowl, I was welcomed as soon as I entered the building, which is awesome considering nobody does that anymore. All of the staff was very friendly and did an amazing job when it came to going through the line. I came at a busy time and they couldn't have handled it better than they did, they were friendly and welcoming to everyone coming in. Kitchen and line were clean and those two staff members working the line friendly. Food is tasty and they have compostable bowls and real silverware. The three working the serving line, were really the only ones actually working. Dining area and restaurant restrooms were disgusting!!! Food all over the floors, tables, and chairs with at least 10 staff "work"ing. Had to ask twice to get table cleaned off, and then the manger only wiped one table dusting All the food onto seating and floor. She didn't touch any of the other filthy tables. Trash over flowing. Bathroom - no TP and the door lock broken. The numerous staff other than the few actually working wandered around the open kitchen complaining about being short staffed and getting "written up" Location needs new leadership. Fantastic!!! They have an awesome variety of ways to build your Mediterranean meal. I honestly can't remember my combination, but can tell you it was delicious! I had grains and greens and added the braised lamb. The portions are bigger than you'd expect and worth the cost. It's like a Greek Chipotle.... They have a very unique soda situation. They have a variety of Maine Root drinks and speciality juices. You can mix them (like a grown up version of your Chuckee Cheeses soda mixing!). I recommend the rosemary limeade with a little of the plain soda water (from the shared root beer one). Definitely go! It's healthy options with a lot of flavor. I ordered three meals to pick-up and take home. The bowls were fresh, plentiful and tasted great. The pita was a soggy mess; I picked out a couple of pieces of meat but for the most part it was a mess. I also found the pick-up process disjointed. I checked-in and was told my order was in process. After 10 minutes past the promised time, I was told by someone else that pick-up orders were in a different location. Based on the time stamp on the order, it was ready when I arrived. The condition of the pita and the un-necessary wait are training issues for the management team. I would definitely recommend eating at the restaurant. read more

I literally had never been to this place. I've heard about a a lot though. I always wanted to go but I'm not exactly like a health food kind of person so I don't like jump to the health places. My friend brought me here yesterday and I am happy to say that... I like this place! If you like pita it's definitely a go to! I had no idea what to pick for my bowl being my first time because they didn't have like any sort of menu, like whereas at Chopt they show you some common made salads. I'd say this is like a healthy chipotle because they make you pick everything for yourself. I wish I had gone at night when it could of been a little more laid back, but I feel like during the lunch shift--(after working a fast-ish food place that is crazy during lunch)-- everything is a bit more nuts. They have the options between greens, grains, meats and toppings and then there's hummus!!! I suggest red roasted pepper, it was so good!!! I think I would like to try this place on my own just to see what I could come up with because before when I tried I just got exactly what my friend had gotten. CAVA - Mediterranean Near Me - Richmond, Virginia

I've now eaten at Cava thrice. The first time was a couple months ago in NYC and I vowed to go again when I was in the mood for a quick healthy meal. Fast forward to this past weekend when I made two back-to-back visits while in Richmond, VA visiting family. Cava is a build-your-own bowl concept restaurant with a Mediterranean bent. You start by selecting what base you want, which can be salad greens (they have assorted options), grains (brown or white rice) and/or lentils. And they'll happily give you a mix if that's what you want. Then you move on to the dips and spreads of which you can choose three (and later spread on the piece of fresh pita that comes with the bowl). The two Richmond locations I visited had a slightly larger variety of options to choose from (than the one I visited in NYC), including two types of hummus, eggplant and red pepper, tzatziki, harissa and a delicious feta spread with a spicy kick. I love hummus, so I usually get two scoops of that and then one scoop of the Crazy Feta, as I like a little heat. Next you select your protein. I've had both the braised beef (which has a small up-charge) as well as the grilled chicken. Both were delicious. Other options include lamb, falafel and roasted veggies. The last step -- and I think the most fun -- is selecting as many toppings as you want. On my most recent visit, I went with cabbage, pico de gallo, cucumbers, pickled onions and white beans. These elements add a nice crunch to things. They have a bunch of dressing options, but I actually prefer my bowl without, as there are already plenty of yummy flavors to enjoy. If you're not sure, just get one of the side so you have the option. Then there's the unusual drink options. I love that they have a soda fountain with a variety of Maine Root brand options, including Blueberry, Root Beer, Mexican Cola and Ginger Beer. Additionally, they have dispensers for a handful of Honest Tea brand lemonades and teas. I don't typically purchase a beverage when I do fast casual, but who can resist a specialty root beer or peach tea? Of course the two locations in Virginia were more spacious and the employees were super friendly and welcoming, a bonus for us New Yorkers where customer service is typically lacking. That said, the only thing that irked me about my visit to the NYC location was that the soda fountain was not correctly dispensing root beer. I told the guy at the register and he didn't seem to care. Not enough to stop me from going again. read more

CAVA is a build your own dish "fast food-ish" restaurant. If you haven't been here before, you start off by choosing between a salad, grain bowl or greens+grains. Then you pick your protein, dips/ spreads and finish it off with other toppings. The food quality is great and the staff is always friendly, but the options are somewhat limited and though the portions are ok, I've had larger for about the same price. As for the interior of CAVA, it's just plain boring and kind of depressing. Don't get me wrong, it's clean and new but in my opinion, it literally looks like they just finished building it and didn't have time to furnish it. It really could use some artwork, bold colors and more Mediterranean décor to liven the place up. Lastly, the outdoor dining area is quite large. I enjoyed that more than being inside those boring walls. If it wasn't for the "other" restaurant near Matchbox, maybe I would have rated CAVA higher, but it's hard not to compare the two and unfortunately, CAVA just falls short. read more

I really like this new location! If you're looking for a quick, fresh lunch after a long day of shopping, go straight to CAVA. It is the biggest CAVA I have been to yet, and it did not disappoint. The build your own bowl with mediterranean ingredients is one of the best ideas yet. The food was delicious as expected. My favorite meat is the spicy lamb meatballs, they are worth the extra money, because they have so much flavor. One recommendation I have is to get a couple of the dips or sauce toppings on the side. I always want everything on top of the bowl, but I also end up getting too many sauces and it gets a little mushy. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, is because it was pretty messy inside. This was probably because I hit it right after the lunch rush, and they were just opening. But other than that, I highly recommend this CAVA. read more

Cava is the same idea as Mezeh just healthier and more expensive! It is not super expensive, it is less than 10$ per person, but it is just the best way to describe it! They offer different bases such as green (super-green mix, lettuce, spinach, etc) and grains (rice, lentils, and more) One choice of protein, 3 dips (crazy feta, hummus, red pepper hummus, harissa, and more), toppings (mostly cucumber, tomato, pickles, feta, wonton, etc), and you can also add dressings! The bowls usually come with a piece of pita on the side! However, for the drinks, they have a ton of different soda flavors and cold teas! Some of them have sugar added, but it is labeled. I like a lot this place, however, the servings are not big like at chipotle/mezeh! That is another reason why I say it is more expensive, although you are paying for the fresh food! Sunday lunch I decided to try CAVA because I had heard nice things about this place and as a Yelp Elite was offered the opportunity to try a bowl. The prices are really reasonable. My bowl came to around $9.00 and it was plenty for 2 people or 2 meals. Wow. I didn't know what to expect when I walked in but this place but it is like an upscale Chipotle where you order and build your items. The restaurant itself is warm and inviting with really nice outside seating. Now for the bowl. I ordered the bowl with mixed greens,brown rice,feta.Harissa Red Pepper hummus,tomato, onion,Kalamata olives, roasted vegetables and a yogurt dill dressing. I don't know how that combo worked but the freshness of the items and the robust spices and flavors combined for the best bowl ever. The staff here was warm and welcoming and I was waiting on immediately. I will return and recommend you try CAVA. read more
