It was my FIRST time having Cava + it didn't disappoint! I opted to customize my bowl - I got a mix of greens and white rice with chicken as my protein. The chicken was moist and flavorful! I topped my bowl off with my choices of toppings and sauces - I asked the server to give me what they recommended, in which one of the sauces they drizzled was slightly spicy, but it didn't taste that way at all, which I liked! I also added on the Pita Bread crisps, which were SO tasty, but rather oily. Good amount of searing + there's a restroom with a code, but just ask one of the servers. Great staff as well! Omg this harissa chicken salad bowl is soooo good. I got harissa and eggplant salad added. The flavors are so authentic. It is a spicy food lovers dream!! Let me just say that I came during the weekday lunch rush and the line moved seamlessly. The team work so well together and they were super friendly and patient while I asked them questions about ingredients. Spicy chicken Avocado pita is one of the best pita wraps I've ever had! The avocado was scooped fresh in front of me. The first time I was there the pineapple apple mint drink was amazing. The drink machine has been broken ever since. Bummer. I still recommend it, food was great! I tried the blueberry lavender drink and that was really good. Some of the employees seemed knew because they were unsure about how to answer my 'is this dairy-free' questions. CAVA is an amazing!!! I love their food and concept. It's a Mediterranean version of the well known chain Chipotle. As I was walking down the street, hungry, I thought wow a CAVA location right here in NYC, I know the quality, I feel lucky rn!!! So naturally I stopped. Customer service good as always for this brand. The food was great as always! I typically go for the greens & grains bowl! So why 2 stars? First as I'm sitting there eating, I'm like something is missing. I realized it was the complimentary pita that comes with the meals. I never got it and they never offered it. Had it been my first visit I wouldn't have known, but I'm a CAVA fan. Guess it saves money$ and inventory by not offering it. But the main reason for the 2 stars is that this location was dirty. Every other table and some counter space was unavailable to practice Covid safety and distancing measures. While I appreciate that, the available space needs to be kept clean. There was a dirty napkin crumpled up on the bench next to me. The counter across from me was littered with crumbs and leftover food droppings. There was garbage on the floor near the beverage machine, so nobody was sweeping. All this while 4 employees were standing around having a conversation, since there was No one at the counter. Any one of them could have just did a walk thru and seen the place was dirty. I felt so bait, and It was hard to watch this single girl looking around trying to find a clean place to sit just to enjoy her meal. Had I just done takeout, I probably never would have noticed how unclean this place was. I also had bubble guts 2 hours later by the time I got home. Is it related? I really don't know, but if the areas the we can see look how they did, imagine what the areas we don't see look like... I will still remain a CAVA fan, I just won't be back to this location. Clean food, ordered lunch by the laptop today, needed something quick. Got the bowl mixed with grains and super greens. Added tzatziki, a bunch of mix-ins (cucumbers, olives, etc.), falafel, and a side of dill dressing. I love the concept that Subway Sandwich started - assembly line style. So many places now offer this, and CAVA is one of them. Although the ingredients here are better. Online ordering was a breeze. The falafel balls were a bit small and dry, but four in the order were enough. For $11, more than enough food. Went to Cava today in person, 23-Sept, '19, this time waited on line at 12:45 and it was really long. Still moved fast. It was good to see the assembly line process live. When it came to proteins, the lamb meatballs looked fantastic. And the first one I ate was delicious. The rest, not so much. The flavor was spot on but they got really dry and hard to eat, even with all the sauces. Maybe I should have gotten sauces on the side. read more

Probably my sixth or seventh Cava location I've been to, and I must say I am still super impressed! I am a CAVA regular, primarily at their 42nd street location. First time I had Cava and I must say I was very impressed, and after my nth meal I must say this is still my favorite fast, healthy, casual spot! Fresh ingredients, healthy, big portions, and great prices is what comes into mind. You can choose between ~4 types of veggies or grains, choose 3 out of ~6 dips, pick 1 out of ~4 proteins, have unlimited toppings, and top it off with a sauce of your choice. Eggplant dip, chicken are my favorites here! The tzatiki sauce was also great, and the lemon herb tahini taste fantastic and healthy. Unlike the 42nd street location, there are seating options here at the back. Lots of tables and high tops, with even power outlets for a quick charge. Would come back here again if I need a quick, healthy, and decently priced meal! read more

Horrible! The blueberry lemonade large ($3.30) was watery with no taste. The pita that came with the salad was small and semi hard. The falafel salad ($11.87) was really bad. The flavor was muted with the falafel not feeling fresh as well as the falafel being small. I know all of this because their direct competitor would be Naya which does everything the opposite of Cava. Each bite of this meal continually revealed the flaws of what is bad about Cava. Just eating this bowl told me what I needed to know about the company culture as Naya seems more generous with their quantity and quality while Cava lacks in the quality department. Also, the employees didn't include the pita until I asked which I know all about as I had like a 75% feeling that would happen. Sad how it is more expensive than Naya, but is even worse than Naya. Sorry Manhattanites, El-Lay DOES it better!!!!! On my recent work trip just last week... went next door, there's CAVA. Like other yelpers quoted "Mediterranean Chipotle"... same formula. (Likes of Indikitch, Dos Terribles (lol), pokebowls, etc...). Probably one of best quasi fast-food experience I've had (exception goes to In-N-Out, of course!) The food was fresh! The veggies, the meat, all great quality! (See pics to compare!) Back to NYC This Chelsea location - the space is nice (I do miss that burger joint tho), lots of seatings, and looks efficient. Too bad the server didn't have a welcoming face... the one that didn't smile giving you the sauce and meats. She got annoyed when I said "Grilled Beef Balls" + "Falafels". Now... the food. WTF am I eating? They are selling the concept of "fresh ingredients", "fresh made food"... so, why does the beef meatballs tastes like "mushy" beef? And the falafel tastes like it's been refrigerated, thaw and then recooked? At 11:55am??! The rice is in giant CLUMPS... errr... it usually means it's been sitting around for too long... also, this location seems very stingy with their scoops... including the veggie toppings! Really? A tiny sprinkle of cucumbers will run you what? Less than $1? Your return is like 60-70% of that. In comparison, the Santa Monica branch was just amazing and awesome in every way. Friendly from start to finish with patience to boot! They also don't cheap out on the veggies. The food quality is 100% better. I'm so disappointed. I got a grain & greens bowl listed as $11.97 that after requesting double protein rang up at $19.67, which I wouldn't mind at all if I got even a single serving of protein but all 6 of my spicy lamb meatballs (3/serving) weighed in at 4.8oz. (Yes I weighed on a food scale because I'm in prep for a weightlifting contest and have to hit a certain minimum with my macros) Maybe they were under weight because they were severely over cooked. The "meatballs" are flat and charred on both sides, but I guess leaving it in the tallow was intended to keep them hydrated? My other beef is that the food is surprisingly flavorless. Cayenne pepper to add heat is not a replacement for actual spices for flavor. Big miss all around. But two stars because it's quick and better than eating pizza crust off the ground or suffering through McDonald's. read more

So flavorful and definitely my favorite of all the hummus they had Eggplant hummus - a bit odd.... Not sure what I think about it, but wouldn't get it again. Plain hummus - it's plain but good. This is a perfect place for a quick lunch stop! This was my first time eating at CAVA (or ever hearing about it, but I'm new to NYC‍), I found it on Yelp near me before going on a massive Bed, Bath & Beyond shopping spree (no one likes shopping while hangry). The setup is a similar 'fast-casual' to that of Chipotle or Sweetgreens where you can grab a menu and stand in line deciding what you want (you start with a base, add 3 dips/spreads, add a protein, you get the picture), then they make it in front of you as you add along the way. I choose the 'greens + grains' base with brown rice & romaine. For tzatziki, hummus, and 'crazy feta'. For my protein I chose their roasted vegetables, which are phenomenal and one of the reasons I was impressed- these aren't your average saggy roasted peppers- we're talking Brussels sprouts, butternut squash, carrots & cauliflower! They really went above and beyond here. ALSO- they let me "split" my protein so I got some falafel balls as well. Then I basically wanted every topping (and you can choose as many as you want)- feta, mint, cucumber, kalamata olives, so many options & no limits. Your bowl is going to be overflowing just like mine. Then add whatever dressings you want! I believe I did sriracha Greek yogurt (nice creation there) because I like spice. 1. Everyone was super friendly!! 2. Fast! Very efficient & convenient 3. Healthy - tons of food & no guilt 4. The service is TERRIBLE. Fourth order this week without any condiments and several items missing from the bowl. Not to mention no pita or side sauce I ordered. Then the terrible part. I call and a guy with the worst attitude, named Lewis, refuses to let me know who his supervisor is. The attitude when you ask him anything was so crazy, inexcusable really. At the end (after having to ask him if he owns the place, because he wouldn't let me speak to someone else) finally shared that the GM/person only works at 9am... strange. Will call them tomorrow. In NYC a place like Cava is the new standard for counter service. Cafeteria style, right down the line and build your bowl, salad or pita by choosing from a expanse of fresh, healthy ingredients. Everything in my bowl played out in perfect harmony. From the splendid greens/black lentil base to the Greek vinaigrette on top, all was right in the world. A few standouts were the Honey Sriracha chicken and the Harissa. As crowded as it was, we were in and out in 10 minutes, quite the efficient operation. I visit this location frequently and customer service is usually fairly decent but today service was lacking. I ordered a green/grain bowl and was given a scant amount of greens I requested more lettuce and was told by Jenrri "That'll be extra," I chucked and agreed managing to snap a pic prior. Secondly, I was picking up salads for other colleagues (on our lunch break). They selected a 2:30 pickup, I arrived at 2:55 and was told they were about to prepare the order. After speaking to the manager, the order was indeed ready (although incorrect). A simple acknowledgment of a miscommunication does wanders. I asked for pita bread for one of the to go orders (that comes with the salad) and the manager stated "she didn't put pita on the order" GIRL PUT THE DAMN PITA IN THE BAG! The sandwich was decent and the soda was very tasty. $12.55 for the sandwich was reasonable, but $3.15 for a bottle of soda was outrageous. The bathroom was cramped and not very clean. I'm sitting here enjoying my Splendid Greens (a mix of different romaine, escarole, chicory endive, belgian endive, and radicchio) salad bowl and think this location is probably the best one I've been to so far. All of them are clean and well kept, but this location actually has seats unlike the spot near Bryant Park which caters to a lunch crowd so most orders are picked up to go. I've always liked Cava and first discovered this fast casual Mediterranean inspired chain at Union Square. I was looking for something healthy and quick to eat. I am impressed by their variety of toppings that you can add on top since I live for different flavors. You get to choose a base, three dips (like hummus, tzatziki sauce, harissa, etc.) protein, toppings and a sauce to finish it off. My bowl was delicious and the workers were generous when topping my bowl with pickled onions, radishes, olives, red cabbage, and Israeli salad. Today was the first time I decided to get a drink. They serve housemade teas and seasonal juices so I tried the Strawberry Mint Lime which paired great with my meal! It is so refreshing on a nice, warm spring day.
