Build Your Own Grain Bowl
Teri M.

Cava (block 59). Thursday night @ 5:45. Chose a Build your own pita and a Build your own bowl. Both were delicious, and the portions were huge. For those who are not familiar with CAVA, the concept is similar to Bibibop/chipotle/dos bros where you choose a protein, toppings, sauces, etc. They also have options where the choices are made for you. All of the ingredients were very fresh, and the various items were visually appealing. You can choose a grain bowl, a salad bowl, or a pita sandwich. I thoroughly enjoyed my bowl, and hubby enjoyed his pita. The young ladies who took care of us were very pleasant, and didn't flinch when I asked to taste the saffron basmati rice and the sumac slaw. Highly recommend CAVA.

Spicy Lamb Avocado with Cucumber Mint drink
Perry M.

This was my first time to Cava, and the dining experience was excellent. They have an indoor and outdoor dining area. My son and I sat outside. I ordered the Harissa Bowl, which was a little spicy but super delicious! If you are with someone, you can order one large drink and get free refills. The cucumber mint drink is amazing! My son ordered the Spicy Lamb Avocado which was excellent as well. Very tender lamb chunks. I highly recommend this place.

At dinner, we shared the sausage appetizer - so tender and delicious! One of us had the seafood main course, which was huge and filled with so many different types of seafood and fish. We also had the chicken souvlaki, which is amazing. During our brunch, we shared the saganaki and pita -- the saganaki here is not to be missed. We also shared a delicious lamb burger that was tender, juicy and served with unique toppings. The accompanying Greek potatoes were also unique and very tasty. The service is always excellent here. There is also indoor and outdoor seating, and the outdoor seating has beautiful views. Reservations are not always necessary, but much more so on weekends. Love Vasili's!

The restaurant was half empty, with plenty of open seating both inside and outside, and there appeared to be 3-4 servers standing around with very little to do. Despite that, they refused to seat our party of six. I'm sure one of those servers would have appreciated our business and the gratuity that came with it. Unfortunately, it felt like the manager was more interested in proving a point than taking care of customers. Definitely not the kind of service I expected.

This is a nice, small Middle Eastern market compared to Souq Fresh Market in Lombard. Souq is very big. This market has a lot of unique Middle Eastern snacks that I've never seen before along with a kitchen that you can order lunch and dinner from. Lunch is served 10 am - 2 pm. I believe dinner is served from 2 pm to 9 pm. Don't quote me on the end dinner times. They have 3 tables that you can eat at. I came after 10:20 am and I ordered the chicken kufta lunch special, two different kinds of samosa, and kebabs. Prices were cheap, I got all of this for $25. They also have an area where you can get some fresh meat and deli items. Staff was friendly. Overall 4 out of 5. If they fixed the kebabs, it would easily be a 5. -chicken kufta lunch special 5 - he made this fresh. You get one pita bread with it. Meat was soft and tender. The rice and salad were very tasty. Huge portion. -samosas 5 - I got one beef and one potato. They were both delicious. -kebabs 3.5 - he gave me two big kebabs but they did not taste freshly made. I'm no stranger to kebabs and I usually like my kebabs to be tender and juicy. These were semi tough and kind of dry inside. I can see the spices in them but they would taste even better new.

3 Chefs Persian Cuisine was a pretty mixed experience for us…read more The restaurant itself is more fast-casual than traditional sit-down Persian dining; think somewhere between a Panera and Chipotle in terms of setup and atmosphere. It was clean enough and perfectly fine for a casual meal, but definitely not somewhere I'd go expecting an upscale experience. We ordered the koobideh and shish combo with basmati rice. The meat was decent overall, though not especially tender. The koobideh leaned a little dry, while the shish had better flavor, but neither really stood out compared with some of the better Persian food I've had. The rice was another weak point for me; it wasn't quite as light and fluffy as I like, didn't seem buttered, and definitely could've used more salt. Our food also took about 30 minutes to come out. There was a large group of roughly 10 people ahead of us, so I'm sure that contributed, but it was still a pretty long wait for what feels like a fast-casual concept. Service was another middle-of-the-road part of the experience. The woman at the counter wasn't rude, but she wasn't particularly warm or welcoming either. I was also a little confused by the menu advertising that they can make essentially any Persian dish. I asked about ghormeh sabzi and was told they didn't have it that day, then asked about dill rice after seeing photos of it online and was told they only had white basmati available. One other thing worth noting: our receipt included a 5% transaction service fee, which added a few extra dollars to the bill. Overall, there were no deal-breakers, but there also wasn't much that really wowed me. The food was decent, portions were fair, and I'd come back if I happened to be in the area and was craving Persian food. But as a destination? There are definitely stronger options. Solid 3/5 for me. Not bad, just not particularly memorable.

I chose the Chicken Koobideh which was so juicy, I was shocked! I've had good Koobideh, but never this juicy and tender! Strong flavor, and hint of saffron, a true delight. I also ordered the Ghormeh Sabji - which is a soya (dill) based green stew with meat and beans, and when it first comes to the table, you're thinking this looks and smells like henna paste, but the taste is so beautifully complex - savory, bitter, buttery, and pure deliciousness in every bite!!!!! A must try for something different. Husband ordered the lamb shank, and it was tender and fall off the bone! The meat was soft and unctuous. It was served with this roasted garlic bulb that was roasted to perfection, taking the harshness of the garlic away and replacing it with a soft, buttery, jammy garlicky goodness that is to DIE for!!!! Lastly, my mom got the lamb and beef Koobideh and said it was soft and juicy as well. After food, we had their tea and it is absolute perfection. I take mine sweetened, but even unsweetened my mother found it perfect! Lastly, don't sleep on the DOOGH! That's that fermented yogurt drink that is tart, salty, and super refreshing! I almost didn't even wanna tell yall about it, but I reminded myself that gatekeeping is a cardinal sin! And finally, the ambiance and the service is AMAZING. So gracious, so soft spoken, so generous and just kind to boot. The food is delicious but I'd come back just to see these smiling faces!!!

Another great dinner at Foxtail!…read more We had to come back to try more of the menu, and this time we ordered: * Pork belly bruschetta: 5/10. Unfortunately, this one wasn't for me. The pork belly, ciabatta, and balsamic were all good individually, but together the flavors just didn't work. It felt mismatched... * Colorado lamb kebab: 10/10. This is one of the more $$ entrées on the menu, but it's absolutely worth it. The portion was generous, the lamb was high quality, and the artichoke pesto paired really well with the rich, gamey flavor. The roasted pearl onions were a great addition too.
