Miserable experience tonight. Arrived at 5pm, no one in line or eating inside. Every single table was dirty. We decided to stay because we had 3 hungry children with us. I wiped off a table, dropped our stuff and got in line to order. They were out of several items and the workers did not seem knowledgeable about the food. I asked if the red pepper hummus was spicey and the reply I received was ummmm I haven't tried it. Nice. Ok what about the eggplant dip? Ummm haven't tried that either. Nice again. I asked for a plate since we were dining in and the worker proceeded to put everything in to go containers. I ordered a kids meal and had to read off the paper menu to the worker what was included. Really?!? The cashier was very friendly and apologized for the state of the restaurant and unknowledgeable staff. They were out of several juices/teas/sodas. Food was ok. The falafel was dry and flavorless. Meatballs were dry. Hummus was very good. Pita was soft and seemed fresh. Restroom was a mess. Would be nice if it had a changing table. This place honestly needs to close for a week to clean, TRAIN staff, restock food and beverages. I can't believe this is the same chain as in Tysons. read more

After reading reviews, I was not quite sure how this place would be. I decided to try it anyway, and boy am I glad I did! My husband and I had lunch at CAVA, yesterday. It was SO GOOD, I went back for lunch today! I love love love mediterranean food. I had a Salad+Grains today, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought the felafel was better today, because it was crispy then yesterday, the outside wasn't as crispy. I still really liked it both times though! The Raspberry+Ginger juice is fantastic. I did sit outside with the Hubs yesterday, because the noise was pretty loud inside. Today, I took my food home. I had to wait in line a long time yesterday (about 12:45pm) but today (about 2:30pm) was walk right in and be served. Very happy with this place, and glad there is another place along these lines here in Ashburn. I love the style, think these types of restaurants are my favorite, with exception to fine dining. :) read more

I am excited they opened in Ashburn. Having shown the menu to my wife, she thought it would be fufu...it was not that. I had eaten at the location in Fairfax before and it was very good. I decided to stop in to the new spot in Ashburn, and many of the other reviews I saw criticized the lack of menu boards on the walls...they do have menus you can take with you and use as a reference...but I'm not here to talk about menu boards, and menus, but the food and the experience. The staff is friendly and accommodating, helpful. The choices are vast, and the portions are huge! I got a bowl, with falafel and chicken...one word, YUM! The falafel had actual garbanzo beans in them, very bold and flavorful. The chips are awesome too!! The crazy feta dip is great. Feta and jalapeños make for a great combination. If you are familiar with Cava, stop in for a burst of goodness, if you have never been to Cava, go in and try it. I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

What happened to the sauces? Last time I went to Cava, they we're all watered down and bland. That's the number one reason restaurants lose business-- skimping on food quality. Second reason is bad customer service. If you start off with a good quality product that drives the business, why change it? Even if you have to raise the price a little to keep the quality, people understand that. But don't lower the quality and then turn around and raise the price too! This kills it every time. Consistency is key. If you look at restaurants that have consistency in their food quality and customer service they stay around forever. Sweetwater Tavern -perfect example. They have consistent quality and great customer service and the place is always packed with people. That's what I call a great American restaurant. Don't let your watered down sauces and wilted greens kill your business, not to mention employees standing around talking while customers are waiting to be taken care of. I find that happening a lot when there's only "one" customer in line waiting to be served. Although your competition got in a little trouble, they're winning "your"customers with consistent food quality and they don't keep customers standing in line waiting while employees socialize with each other. The concept doesn't work. I ordered the pita, and was told that you put three spreads on it, resulting in a smear of hummus, a smear of tzatsiki, and one of babaganoush on the same pita. This was followed by the "option " of various toppings resulting in something which wasn't a schwarma, wasn't souflaki, just a mishmash of unrelated ingredients. The pita itself was so tough and stale as to be inedible. Pitas are made to be eaten quickly after being cooked. I guess if you'd never had middle eastern food, and maybe you got a fresh pita, it might pass as food, but the idea of trying to blend a Chipotle concept to mediterranean is pretty much an abomination. I got a gift certificate from a friend who loves this place and we've been four times this week! I don't know where to start really, so I went to Cava for the first time yesterday looking forward to the Spicy Lamb Meatballs, one I got up to the proteins I noticed that they were out of the Spicy Lamb Meatballs I wasn't too worried thinking it was lunch time around 12:45 but the employee said that they were out and it was going to be a while at this point I was disappointed knowing first impressions are the ones that last, so I ended up getting chicken and beef meat balls one I got to the cashier they bagged my food up and didn't ask for cash so then I told them I hadn't paid and they told me that it was on the house due to there bad planning I was very impressed with the customer service there isn't really any places that would do that, so I will be a returning customer due to the A class customer service I received and let's not forget the food was amazing not gonna find something like that around this area. read more

Grabbed a quick lunch here with my husband today. We love Cava Mezze so we were excited to try their casual-style restaurant (and we're so jealous we don't have one back home!). The food was delicious but the customer service was AMAZING! We ended up having an issue with one of our dishes, and the staff went above and beyond to fix it and ensure that we enjoyed our meal. My wife put in a pickup order at this Cava and I thought she pre-paid online. I walked in, they were very friendly and had the order ready at the front. They gave me the order and I went home. When I got home, I asked her if she paid online to double check. Turns out she didn't! I called Cava right back, apologized and offered to pay over the phone. Cardavo (I probably spelled his name wrong) assured me that it was alright and despite me insisting, told me they would take care of the bill! I was very gracious and appreciative. Their customer service is very, very top notch at this location. I have been to the Cava in Tyson's as well, and this one is nice and open, clean, and everyone is friendly and very customer service oriented. I came to Cava for the first time in my life a few weeks ago. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by Ricardo. I had no idea how or what to order. Don't get me wrong, cava is delicious . I go there multiple times a month and they have a wide variety of different options. However, this last experience was disappointing to say the least. As someone who works in the food industry as well, i was shocked. I usually always get a grain bowl and then i ask for spinach. The amount of rice they give in the first place is not even worth the 10 dollars but i never complained. This past time i went i asked for my usual white rice bowl with spinach on top, but instead i was rudely told that i can't do that. i was never aware of this but instead she talked to me in a way that was condescending and rude. i was a little shocked and was expecting her to tell me to follow the protocol the next time i went. instead, she began scooping out the rice in my bowl, leaving me with a scarce amount of food. At chipotle , they will give you how ever much rice you want with zero charge. Customer service and the outrageous costs are the reason why I will no longer be coming to this cava. Everyone who wrote a bad review about Cava is an idiot! They really should have IQ tests before allowing people to write reviews since they actually do affect businesses. Anyway...Even for a first timer my fiancé and I quickly caught up with the drill there and they have menus EVERYWHERE including ones right in front of your face when you walk through the door. The employees were all so sweet & helpful the past 3 days in a row that we've gone there so it's definitely consistent. Maybe if you'e a fat slob used to a McDonalds diet you won't like this but I'd still find that hard to believe. It's very satisfying and filling so you won't feel hungry 30 minutes after eating there. I have a big appetite and the greens/grain bowl is plenty. Like I said- this place is amazing as long as you are not a completely uneducated and ignorant moron that can't appreciate REAL food.
