Ordered 3 rice bowls togo they forgot the pita bread for each bowl. The man behind the counter had a bad attitude, mumbled when spoke to us, wasn't helpful at all in giving us the name of each dip, meat etc. I was very unimpressed with the portion of meat given.. I asked for half veggie and half chicken and found 3 pieces of chicken. He seemed very annoyed at checkout (he was making the bowls and ringing us up) it was about 8:30pm not sure if he was the only one behind the counter?? (Understaffed) But overall they need better management and staff Bc this made for 3 disappointed customers and a sad cava experience. Terrible experience. Went on a Sunday evening and was pleased to see that although this is a new location, it wasn't particularly crowded. However, we still waited 15 minutes in line as they were obviously understaffed. They were out of some of the ingredients on the "build your own bar". In addition they were out of all of their special teas and juices. Even the soda machine was out of most choices. If you wanted orange soda or water you were in good shape. I eat here at least twice a week for lunch. They are fast and friendly with a few different choices of how to build your bowls or flatbread sandwiches/taco. They manage to keep this place pretty clean despite the amazing traffic this place gets. They also have a great special needs employee and I love places they help out with the less fortunate. Was not impressed with the Ashburn location. The falafel was under seasoned and very dry! I was not impressed with the mixed veggies with diced white potatoes! Smh. The pita bread smelled like bleach! The cashier was constantly wiping his nose with his sleeve while placing lids on the bowl. Clearly he didn't place the lid on my bowl as I requested to place the lid myself. I LOVE Cava and must say the best location for me would be Tyson Corner. I was too excited to find out one was coming to Ashburn! I would always go to the one in Tysons Mall. Same concept of Chipotle but its Mediterranean. For your base you can choose from different grains, pitas, and/or greens. Then you add dips/spreads. And then your protein of choice, I usually choose the braised lamb, spicy meatball lamb, or falafel. Bursting with flavors. Yummy! read more

Seems the owner/manager hired new food servers in the past few months. The people behind the counter need to be able to understand the menu options such as "super greens" and "dairy free dressing". If you have any food allergies - skip this place! There was Feta in with another topping and the food server did not understand English enough to know that I wanted the topping, but without the Feta (i.e. it is contaminated so please get some from the back). Lamb meatballs are always burned - and there is an extra charge for them. Tables are always dirty now (used to be clean). All in all really gone down hill, which is sad. The quality of food and service has decayed over the last year. I literally made a Yelp account just so I could leave a review that I knew would be seen by enough people. I've given the place multiple chances in the last few months hoping that maybe it was just a bad day but each visit has been steadily worse. Today was the last straw. I got a grain bowl and the tiny amount of rice that we started with was a joke. I asked for more and the server acted annoyed. A free pita comes with the bowl, but I asked for two additional pitas and once again the server acted annoyed and said that'll cost extra. I told them that was fine and they tried to talk me into just having two pitas. I paid extra to get spicy lamb balls. They were charred on the outside and frozen on the inside. (That's an up charge, mind you). At the end of it all, I paid $17 for a sub-par, still partially frozen bowl of food that doesn't even compare to what this restaurant used to produce, not that long ago. I also got a lot of attitude. I'm finished with this place. It's a real shame, I work for a pretty big company in the area. My coworkers are always looking for different places to take our lunch breaks and this particular Cava doesn't live up to the high prices they charge for a bowl of food. read more

Go Cava! Wasn't sure what to expect, but thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to Cava. Its self-service style like Chipotle where you walk along the counter and create your meal. Loved the food, fresh and flavorful. Also a wonderful assortment of homemade sodas and juices. .. so no Coke products here! Atmosphere is industrial which isn't my personal preference, but food is great enough to make up for it. Will return! read more

Review Update 11/10: Upon notifying Cava management of the situation described below, the CEO responded almost immediately and very thoughtfully. Based on this have very high hopes that the issues at this location will be quickly resolved and this location will become the same great experience as its neighboring locations in Tysons and Mosaic center. 11/9 :Unsanitary and poorly run establishment. First off, let me say that my husband and I have been frequent guests of the Cava in Falls Church, and have always been very happy with that location. However this Ashburn location clearly does not uphold the Cava standard. For one, there are no menus or signs on the wall telling what can be ordered, as there are at other Cava locations. This is a very minor detail however in comparison to the rest of our experience. First, the guy behind the counter picked up a pita which had mold on it and he proceeded to throw it away. He then picked up another one from the same stack which again clearly had mold on it, so he placed his thumb over the molded spot until he was able to cover it with with food (clearly to conceal it in hope I would not notice). He proceeded to prepare my food as if nothing was wrong. Once I got my food I easily found the quarter sized spot of green mold that went through to the other side of the pita. Upon complaining to management they offered to make me another one, which I declined due to my lack of trust in their sanitation and received a refund. The employee continued to serve the remaining pitas to unknowing customers. Next, my wife and I witnessed the same employee that has served me the moldy pita reach into the tray of food and begin to eat bites of it, all while still behind the counter ready to serve other guests. He reached into the tray and ate from it at least four times that we saw, before we again felt compelled to notify a manager of his further unsanitary, inappropriate, and frankly disgusting, behavior. We were half expecting a camera crew to jump out and tell us his was all a hoax for some 'what would you do?' style reality show, it was that ridiculous. I am a big fan of Cava usually. However I would not return to this location due to their unsanitary practices. I fear this has ruined the Cava experience for me in its entirety. read more

OMG this place... Really one of my favs in Northern VA for a quick bite. It is the fast causal Chipotle take on Mediterranean food. I have had a lot of the variations here and they are all great. The spicy meat balls are great. The chicken is great. They will make it half and half for you if you like and that is great too. Then after you are done going down the line, they have a zillion choices for drinks as well. The sodas are surgery sweet. The limeades and teas are excellent. read more

I visit Cava once a week for a healthy bowl. The leafy options for your bowl and the black lentils provide a hearty and healthy base for the copious amount of toppings. I especially like the fact that their hummus and harissa have very low sodium in comparison with other Mediterranean establishments. Always my go to place for a quick bite. The customer service is on point, choice of ingredients are awesome and the food itself is SO GOOD! I love this concept. Rice bowls for the win! I always get the chicken rice bowl with spinach and arugula. I get the harissa spicy sauce with a side of yogurt tiziki sauce. I pretty much fill the bowl with all the veggie options and top it off with a lighter harissa drizzle and lemon yogurt sauce. It's so fresh and so many different flavors in one bowl. Come on, CAVA. I ordered using the app four hours before pickup time. Got confirmation that it would be ready when I arrived (after lunch rush). Running late, as expected, walk in 12 minutes after the promised time to find no one in line, three people chatting behind the register, and my order not ready. Then I have to wait, taking time I don't have, for the order to be made. Why have order-ahead on the app if you won't make sure it's ready on time. It was supposed to be an easy solution when I was pressed for time. The food is good as always, but the service was terrible. Hence, the 2 stars. Very disappointing. read more

Good food and great atmosphere and concept. The ordering process and set up is much like that of chipotle which is great for convenience and familiarity. The food is very fresh and "clean." Definitely try their drinks, personal favorite is the strawberry mint but all are good. It's a little pricier than chipotle depending what you order but you get what you pay for for sure.
