Bit of a dive, but definitely a nice place to bring some friends and chill for a bit before you catch your train. We came on a Friday afternoon, and sat at a table. The bartender came round and dropped off a couple of menus, and told us to take our time. Sweet. We got situated, read through the menu, and decided to just have some drinks. There wasn't really anything vegan on the menu, and the cocktails they had all looked to be really sweet, so I ordered a basic ranch water (tequila, lime, seltzer, and nothing else) instead of the one they had on the menu. My companion got a Guinness which they have on tap. The ranch water was made perfectly, and the beer had a creamy head on top, and looked good. It's not my drink of choice, so I didn't taste any from my companion. We sat around and played games and chatted for like an hour and change, and nobody bothered us. There was top 40s playing, and everyone was generally having a good time with whoever they came with. Not a terribly social experience if you're alone, but if you're with the group you came with, you'll be fine for as long as you want, because nobody's bothering you. The men's bathroom was clean and is single use, so you can lock the door behind you and use the urinal or toilet as you wish. The prices were about what I'd expect to pay in a bar near a transit hub, and near the water like this one is. Not too expensive, but not exactly cheap. Came for lunch on a Saturday. We arrived around noon and the place only had one other table. However, within a half hour the place was almost full. Service was quick and performed with a smile. We didn't need to wait long for anything we asked for. Place was clean and spacious. Bathrooms were also clean. Portion sizes are huge and shareable. Food is tasty and made the right way. Greek salad has lots of ingredients, clam chowder bowls were large and had ample clams and was not overloaded with potato. The Pete's Platter (fried seafood mix) was cooked/fried to perfection and each individual piece of seafood was large pieces and not bits. Steamed mussels were tender and slightly on the salty side. Probably the worst bar I've ever been to. Security is a weirdo and is super uptight checking IDs but for certain people only. He also makes rude comments and has no people skills whatsoever. If this place wants more business I would look into getting new security since i'm pretty sure he's half the reason people don't come in here. A friend of mine runs the Ravens games upstairs. Was invited to wear my Steelers gear during the Ravens vs Steelers game. Foodwise, your typical bar food. I got the brisket sandwich. Brisket wad a little tough but I loved the addition of the potato salad. In my opinion enhanced the sandwich a lot. But for games, they block off the whole second floor. There's probably more energy in that room than at some NFL stadiums. They sometimes get promoters to come out and pass out free drinks or even raffle off prizes. Definitely worth stopping by during game days especially if you're a Ravens fan or to cheer on the opposing team like me. This place was ok. I actually was looking for a breakfast spot and "Breakfast Seven Days" was spray painted in the front window. The BEC wasn't great but edible. Kind of a boring dive bar vibe. Apparently it's a Baltimore Ravens bar, maybe it does well during the 1 pm games or after a local sporting event due to its proximity to TD Arena. All in all I'd rather go some place else, that's just me, maybe the locals love it. read more

Taking an early train to Portland from North Station and everything is closed there as far trying to grab a bite or drink. So we walked over to the Causeway. Good food, got the chorizo egg quesadilla and Bloody Mary. Very cool bar with good food and lots of TV's to watch highlights or games. Quick service, friendly staff. Jukebox for music, definitely will have to catch a drink here before a game or before heading out on the Amtrak. read more

The perfect location for before or after any event at TD Garden! They advertise breakfast 7 days a week so had to give their brunch a try - somewhat small menu but we all really liked what we had! The mimosa flight was so fun and the home fries are actual fries cut up which were so delicious. Would appreciate a bigger brunch menu but no complaints otherwise! Service was average given that it was not super crowded but they did have a dog there which was fun! Place was always busy when we were walking to the train so we decided to stop in one morning for breakfast. The food was delicious the music was on point. This restaurant was what I imagine a typical Boston restaurant looks like on the inside. Lots of sports memorabilia. It wasn't very busy, which was nice. The waitress/ bartender was fine. She was quick and attentive. The table was clean. She definitely seemed uninterested in serving us a bit. Got the American breakfast. I was surprised that the potatoes were actually just cut up fries. That was a little weird. The veggies were a bit soggy, and the toast barely had any butter on it. I've been going to the Causeway, on and off, for at least 7-8 years, and for the most part have enjoyed the staff, vibe and food. To me, it's lost its appeal prior to this review, but not enough for me to write one. Sorry to say, they've lost me as a dining customer, who will never, ever eat anything from there again. I MIGHT go back for a drink, but only because a lot of the people that I work with like to have retirement parties there. My friends & I were there the night of a Bruins game, so it was relatively busy, and we were seated upstairs, where the music was so ridiculously loud, that my Apple Watch sent me a warning; and we were literally conversing with each other through screams...no exaggeration. Then they dimmed the lights, so much so, that we were using the flashlights on our phones to see. Trust me, it was quite the DISTRACTION...I ordered the roasted garlic peppercorn wings, and they just weren't good. I didn't taste any garlic, nor peppercorns, and the meat was tougher than leather. Whatever, I moved on, and then one friend found a whole, long strand of hair, that wasn't hers, in her quesadilla, and returned that. To be fair, the waitress felt bad, and took the item off of the bill. I'm sorry that this is a long-winded review, but it's necessary for what's to come! You're probably saying, "So what, you didn't like your chicken, and your friend found a hair in her 'dilla, move on!" I tried to, until, one friend said to my other friend, "don't move", because there was the biggest cockroach that I have ever seen in my entire life on her arm. I swear, this is not hyperbole, it was HUGE! So, she got up, and calmly (I gave her so much credit for that) walked over to two kind guys, in their Bruins jerseys, with drinks in hand, to help get it off of her. The cockroach(osaurus), then crawled to the center of her back, and remember, it was so dark in there, initially, the Bruins guys had a hard time seeing it. They finally flicked it off of her, and it landed in the center of the floor, where some other guy came over and crushed it with his foot. Yeahh, just that gross. Meanwhile, the staff couldn't CARE LESS! One of the waitresses (not ours) witnessed what was happening and just kept minding her own business. Our waitress, just seemed clueless and/or annoyed, I can't quite call that one, and the bar manager, kept side-eyeing and ignoring us. Period! (Oh, he was "kind" enough to have the waitress take 50% off of the bill). After the foot exterminator killed that GMC (Genetically Modified Cockroach), the bar manager came from behind the bar, with his little spray bottle and a paper towel to clean up the carcass. He still didn't acknowledge us, AT ALL, and that is why I needed to write this review. Stopped here before a concert at TD Garden and this was a nice restaurant to stop at. The atmosphere was great, and they played great music. The wait times could feel a bit long and is my only real criticism, but it was a busy day, so it was a bit understandable. I got the spicy chicken sandwich with fries. The fries were great, and the sandwich was also really good. The sandwich wasn't messy, and held together well as I ate it. My friend got the steak tips and she said they were great. Came here on Sunday before the Celtics game. They advised the menu was online and not in person. Unfortunately I didn't have my phone as I left it in the car so I had to go back to the car to get it; to pull up the menu to order. I ordered the smoked wings (sweet chili) & carne asada fries. The fries were lacking queso, so I requested some on the side as well as sour cream. They kept bringing me out everything one by one. I asked for ranch for my wings and got blue cheese, gross. The tequila and pineapple we ordered, 1 of them had a bug in it. When we brought it to the servers attention (light girl with long black hair) she laughed and said "you got the prize" as if something was damn funny. Then just remade the drink and walked off. No apology or anything. Disgusting. The utensils I was given were dirty & they acted as if it was a problem that I asked for to go silverware instead I've been here before but this time was not it for me. I feel like the restaurant is going through an identity crisis. The WiFi password is "thebestbbq", the yelp menu is all about BBQ, but the menu we got today was more sports bar-esque food. If they changed the menu, fine, but a little "new menu!" sign would have felt proper. Service was fine. Our waitress was busy since we came in on a weekend, but she came around every so often. We had to flag her down a couple of times, but had no problem otherwise. The food experience and price was what made the experience subpar. The kitchen needs to get better at figuring out logistics, because when our food came, my roommate's chicken was steaming hot while my beef was much closer to room temperature. The fries (with beer cheese and bacon) were delicious and by far my favorite dish of the evening. Was it worth the $10 price tag for fries? Probably not, considering the portions were exactly the same as the side fries that came with my main dish. According to my roommate, the southern fried chicken tasted nothing like what you'd expect from "southern" fried chicken. It was just fried chicken, with none of the insane crispness that he was used to. The hanger tips were good, but that's about it. The meat was tender, but somehow not juicy. I personally wouldn't get it again. Lastly, the draft beer was $7, which is overpriced in my opinion. All in all, a pretty forgettable place and experience. read more

If I could give it a 0 - I would. Husband and I went in to have a beer and bite. Seated as soon as we arrived right next to the bar. It wasn't busy at all - one table and 4 people at the bar with multiple employees behind the bar. Not a single person ever said anything to us, came to our table, nothing. Had a great meal here with my niece and her boyfriend while visiting Boston. We spent the day at the museum of science and were looking for something within walking distance- stumbled upon this gem. We enjoyed screaming out random words at the top of our lungs while the football fans cheered on their team. As for the food- delicious. We started with the nachos pulled pork- good- could have used some sour cream and salsa- but still good. For my main I had their chicken sandwich and fries- delicious! My niece and her bf also enjoyed their meal. Drinks are pricey here- but it's Boston so that's to be expected. My husband, friend and I stumbled across this bar for the European championships. After being unable to get into a nearby bar that we had tickets for we were pleasantly surprised to find a indoor and outdoor seating along with decent size TVs to watch the game. Shortly after we arrived the place filled to standing room only. We had a booth and after initially having to walk and place our orders at the bar the bartenders were great and very attentive. One of my absolute favorite bars in the West End. When I first moved to this area, everyone - from the door to the bar to the kitchen - were so kind and welcoming. And over the past few years, they still are. They have a nice patio area on Causeway St. for soaking up the sun or people watching - bonus when they open the windows. The main floor has 7 TVs for ample sports options (officially a Ravens and Wisconsin spot). Their bar is the focus but they also have booths and tables for some seating. TouchTunes for the jukebox and Golden Tee for some entertainment. Upstairs, they have more event type space for big games or weekend DJs, etc. Their prices are on par for this area and Coors Light on draft is actually cheap. Their food is way above average for a bar in this area (Taco Tuesday is back!) - and their chefs are always looking to change things up so be sure to double check the menu for Easter eggs.
