I bought a dress for my daughters wedding that was made for taller women. She was able to just look and it and tell me what needed to be done from taking up the shoulders, taking in the hips that hit too low and hemming two layers of the gown. The dress is fully lined and she had to remove the sleeves, take the shoulders up a couple inches and then reattach them. It looks amazing and it fits me so well now. Very sloppy work on a much loved designer blouse. Visible hand stitching puckering around back neckline. I asked if I should try it on when I went to pick it up as it still looked too big and she said no. Tried it on when I got home and yes, it was still too big and long pieces of thread left hanging. She told me to put the tight dress on and said she could fix it to fit me better when she saw it on me. Four days before the wedding! I went in with a new men's suit to have the cuffs shortened some on the jacket and the pants to be hemmed. When I returned to pick up my suit the tailor was actually surprised that I was going to try the suit on. As it turns out, the pants were not hemmed as she and I had agreed to. Upon my second return, I again tried the pants (again, to her surprise) on they again were not correct. This time, a person in the store was called in for a second opinion. He marked the men's pants exactly as they should have been marked the first time. Now, making my third return trip to the store, they were hemmed correctly. As for customer service remediation, no offer to discount the work was offered considering my multiple trips and inconvenience. I would not recommend this alteration service. read more

Terrible quality work at best. This woman is a complete SWINDLER. Your clothes will be ruined! I am standing up in a wedding & needed my bridesmaid dress hemmed. I found Causeway Alterations on Yelp & selected them based on the good rating/reviews I read. That being said, I'm writing this review so others don't have the same experience I did. I should've went with my gut, and left within the first 20secs upon entering Causeway Alterations. She told me I had a beautiful dress and proceeded to ask if I was the MOTHER of the bride or groom. Sidebar-Most people think I'm in my mid-20's. So at this point I thought she's just rude. I let that go because I need this dress altered.... Causeway Alterations is a "cash only" business and doesn't give receipts, which is already incredibly inconvenient. I was charged $90 to HEM this bridesmaid dress (2 total layers, which included a chiffon overlay). The pictures speak for themselves, but Incase you don't look at those-the quality of Causeway Alterations is nothing but awful. Loose threads (all over) snags EVERYWHERE, UNEVEN hem lines, threading falling apart, and it was MORE wrinkly than when I dropped it off. The woman claimed to have steamed the dress, but this dress was clearly NEVER steamed. I saw another review that she didn't use the correct thread color-GUESS WHAT? She didn't match the thread color for my dress either. The dress is a rosewood pink and she used a whitish/light pink. I mentioned the dress was NOTICEABLY UNEVEN (the right side is shorter than the left)--she was PULLING down on the right side telling me "no hunny it looks perfect". No, it absolutely does not. I questioned why it wasn't touching the floor (it's a FLOOR LENGTH dress & my shoes are NOT supposed to show, but they do now and obviously there's nothing that can be done about that because she cut too much material off the bottom. She's like, well I did it shorter so you don't trip on it. WHAT?! STAY AWAY & don't waste your money here. read more

I'm an avid online shopper, and sometimes that leads to apparel that doesn't fit the way I intend. Luckily this doesn't happen very often. I had two skirts and a dress that arrived at my house, and when I tried them on, they were "tea length." This means that the skirt/dress doesn't hit my knee and doesn't go down to the floor... it ends about mid-calf. My body looks like a weird cocoon with this style, so I've just had them hanging in my closet for months. I've never had alterations done (save for my wedding dress), because I'm usually okay with the fit of my clothes. These outfits just kept staring at me, They were great if they weren't so long! So, I went to Causeway Alterations, and Katrina (sp?) had me try on each item and marked where to take them up. We both laughed at how all of the items looked like blankets on me. For two of the items, she puffed some sort of chalk around instead of pinning needles, I think to be more accurate - not sure. Either way, it was faster than pinning. I picked up the finished product two weeks later (it could've been earlier if I got over there on a weekday). They're excellent! The skirts flair out a little bit, and look better than I thought. On the dress, there was unique stitching at the bottom, and it's unhindered. I've worn the skirts to work, and get compliments whenever I do. I'm not sure of standard alteration rates, but I paid $80 total for two skirts and a dress, and I'm very satisfied with the final product. She lets you pay before or after, cash or check only. read more

I won't give a negative review as I don't believe this business deserves it. I will say that I wish she would have told me prior to working on one of my shirts that the sewing machine may ruin the shirt. I had a few patches sewn on. Some of the patches, her sewing machine would not accommodate the corners/curves very well so you could see the stitching. One was white thread on the black part of the patch. Those I ended up using black permanent marker on the white thread so you couldn't see the stitching. She explained it is the best her sewing machine could accommodate my request and she had to hand sew some of it. It looks like most people are very pleased with her work. She is a very nice person. Her shop is clean and by the looks of it very popular. My request was most likely outside of the usual. The only thing I wish was she would have just turned me away saying she was not comfortable doing these patches due to "______." I would say for regular alterations such as the other reviews state this would be a good shop to take your item to. read more
