As others have pointed out, the prices are ridiculous. They are not particularly friendly, either. I took my dress up the street to a dry cleaner who also does alterations. Rose Tailor Shop has recently changed ownership. The previous owner, an Asian lady who retired, was good at her craft, reliable and her prices were reasonable. The new owners, a couple, don't seem as friendly but their craftsmanship is good and they seem reliable. Their prices however were a bit of a shock. For two pair of men's pants I was charged $143. That included taking in the waist 1", hemming the legs and attaching 9 belt loops to each pair of pants. Other than the price being a bit high everything else seemed fine. read more

I went in to get two of my birthday dresses altered, I only payed 40$ for both the dresses online. I was only getting the straps tightened on the dresses and one of them needed to be hemmed on the bottom. They called me later in the day telling me it would be 160$ since one of the dresses has sequins so i told her never mind and to not hem it if it was going to be that much, i go in to pick my dresses up a few days later, went to check out and she told me it was going to be 75$. I simply asked her why it was so expensive for doing the bare minimum and the dresses barely fit any differently , i am 20 years old and don't have that money to get dresses altered. She answered with this is my job and this was way too much work to get the dresses done (i gave her a week and a half) so i said if it was too much work why would you alter my dresses and complain to a paying customer. I said i will not pay almost double what i bought the dresses for and she said the dresses are cheap but the price was not and she said she made them just like the original seam, I handed her the money while i was very upset and offered me 5 cents back and i told her no need and that this was a complete rip off.
