Rosie was able to fit me in quickly for a wedding dress bustle. She did a fabulous job and it was very reasonably priced! Thank you!

I did need the dress in a few days, maybe that's why the price was so expensive? Maybe because It's a holiday week? Once I told her that I couldn't afford it I was told that "I wasted her time". Ok, as soon as I got to her place she was rushed in to a dressing room. Mind you she was busy with other clients, but how you being and seamstress don't tell me from the beginning that a sequined dress is going to be that expensive! Not everybody has the money to pay that price. I know that she is running a business and I respect someone's work, but to treat a customer so crudely is sad. There were other clients waiting for her and I was berated and felt embarrassed by her disposition. I apologized for "wasting her time" so she said, and asked for my dress back. She could not give me my dress back until she took off the chalk marks that she made on the hem of my dress during the fitting. She was very angry and very agitated with me. I explained to her that I had only paid $50 for that dress. The hemming costs more than the actual dress! She responed that I was paying $110 for her service. When one has a business the client is not obligated to pay for your work if they disagree with the price. This was just a quote! That is part of being a business owner and working with the public. I was able to find a different alteration place that quoted me $45 for the hemming and I can pick it up the next day. That sounds more reasonable to me and that is why I gave the second alteration place my business. That being said I will not go back which is no big deal. She might have many clients and not need my business which is ok and good, but there are other businesses that do alterations and have pride for their work as well.

I had a simple task before me...get two pair of umpire pants hemmed. I visited his shop (a one man…read moreoperation) and Mr Fred immediately greeted me and asked a few very pointed, specific questions about protective equipment, etc. Long story short, the questions told me he knew exactly what he was doing. He also made sure I had my shirt tucked in ("it makes a difference" said Fred) and that I had the proper shoes with the proper pair of pants. So I stood up on the little podium and he had 'em each marked in about 15 or so seconds flat. He asked me when I needed 'em; I wasn't in a particular hurry so he gave me a six day turn. I tried on each pair once I picked 'em up and they're perfect! Not only is he a very good tailor but a gentleman as well. He is affable and friendly with a neat, well organized shop. It's plain to see he takes pride in his craft and has a great work ethic. So if you need any kind of alterations or tailoring performed on your clothing, this is the fellow to see. You don't find old school workmanship like this in too many places anymore. If you like that, then Fred is your man. I finish by leaving three caveats before you visit. 1. He charges in advance for the work he performs. 2. He only accepts cash and Zelle. 3. His services AIN'T cheap. That said, Fred is probably the best tailor I've ever used. I say that as I own three suits, a tuxedo and coattails plus a number of custom shirts. It never really struck me to rate a tailor on Yelp up to this last go-round. However now that I have, I truly know that Mr Fred is about as good as they get!

I bought this unique fabric bag and have used it for many things, latest of which is for bringing stuff to yoga sessions! After years, the seams started to come undone so I popped by to chat with Fred. I told him how important this bag was and why and he agreed to fix it up for a very reasonable price. Fred went the extra mile and reinforced every seam in the bag and told me we were good for another 20 years! Fred also fixed the belt loop on a pair of jeans but they don't have sentimental value to me. Still, he did it perfectly! Life is a good with a local craftsman who does his best work for you!

I have been using Ruth's Fashions for all our family's tailoring needs for over ten years. We…read morestarted using her when she was in Woodlands Square in Oldsmar. Now she is located next to the Walmart Market on East Lake Rd. in Palm Harbor - the shop is small and you may not notice it if you drive by, but trust me, it is to the left of the Walmart Market. Ruth has tailored my pants and shorts, as well as my children's school uniforms, sports uniforms, and other clothes over the years. Before moving to Tampa Bay, I had been spoiled by having my Grandmother do all our tailoring/hemming for us when we lived up north (she loved sewing). I was worried about how much it was going to cost now that we had to start paying for someone to do our tailoring, but was pleasantly surprised when I found Ruth's. She was recommended to me by a family friend who had also been using her for years, and we've been going to her ever since then. The last time I had a hem fixed on adult pants it was about $7 - not too bad in my opinion. I believe she used to charge about $5 when we starting going to her over 10 years ago, so her prices have not increased that much. She typically says that everything will be ready in one week from when you drop it off. This has always worked out well for me, but I assume she would be able to accommodate you if you needed something done sooner. My daughter loved stopping at Ruth's Fashions and said it reminded her of going to Grandma's house. Ruth was always very sweet to her, and would take the time to ask her about school, her sports, etc. - the personal touch that you miss so often in larger businesses nowadays. A few things to note: (1) Make sure you keep your handwritten ticket to bring with you when you pick up your clothes. I sent my husband to pick up something once and he left the ticket at home - and she wouldn't release the clothes to him. He was frustrated that he had to run home to get the ticket, but I thought it was good that she actually made sure the right person was picking up the clothes - she had never seen him, and I hadn't mentioned someone else would be picking things up. (2) She only takes cash - or at least only did when my husband tried to pick up that same day. He went to give her a credit card and was surprised when she said she only took cash (I completely forgot to tell him) - so he had to go get cash and come back again (needless to say, it was the last time he picked up tailoring for me!). I can understand why she only takes cash too - most of her sales are probably low dollar amounts (like my $7 for fixing a hem), so the amount it would cost her to pay for credit card servicing wouldn't make sense for this business.
