Winter Clove Inn - Front door

    Winter Clove Inn

I don't quite know how to describe our getaway to Winter Clove Inn this December. My overall sense…read moreis that many guests are returning families, for whom Winter Clove Inn holds special nostalgic memories, and they love it here. However, new guests that are expecting a 5-star resort based on Google classification will likely be pretty disappointed. The main Inn is old and charming, but it and the adjacent property buildings are showing their age in a not-so-charming way. For example, two of our five guest rooms in Oak Lodge had broken heat, which the property was certainly aware of as they had placed space heaters in the rooms before our arrival. During our last day, there was no water at all in the Carriage House, so guests could not flush toilets or wash hands, even after bowling! Really basic features you would expect in even a roadside motel, such as tissues in guest rooms, were not provided. Toilet seats that needed replacing are mismatched, with oval seats on square front toilets, and the toilet cover in the main lodge was broken and not repaired during our stay. Despite being "pet-free," blankets smelled like dog. Despite the rustic accommodations, our family created our own fun together. Our reserved table in the dining room was uncomfortably tight for 13 guests, which was continually apparent during the slow food service. The amount of food at each meal was plentiful, but servers were poorly trained as they repeatedly failed to clear place settings from one course before bringing another course, and repeatedly miscounted orders bringing the incorrect number of soups, desserts, etc. Aside from some disappointing low points, such as the embarrassing frozen mixed vegetables being served as the "vegetable of the day," or uncut unripe honeydew wedges served as the fruit option, the meals were basic but acceptable fare.

The Kaaterskill - The Lafayette room at the Farmhouse

We loved walking around, seeing the animals, llamas, horses, peacocks. There's a beautiful pond and our room had a direct view straight from the beds! Absolutely lovely and the owner is wonderful!

My cousin just had her wedding at the Kaaterskill, and I have almost nothing but good things to…read moresay. I'll start with the two negatives, though, just to get them out of the way: 1. The water in the guest rooms and kitchen smells like sulfur/farts/rotten eggs. I mean, it's extreme. Very, very extreme. All of the rooms have Jacuzzi's, and I just can't imagine submerging myself in one of those tubs with the smell of the water. Peeee-yew! 2. The venue is beautiful, but it's really up to the renters to make it what they want it. It takes a *lot* of work to set things up (benches for the ceremony, room for the reception, etc.), so you have to be prepared to put some sweat into the space. That being said, it was totally worth it to work hard. My cousin's wedding ended up being the most beautiful wedding I've been to in my life. It was also great to be able to rent out all of the guest rooms for the wedding party so we were all together. There's a giant/modern kitchen so you can cook or keep things cold in the fridge. All of the other living spaces are so totally kitschy. There are artifacts and knickknacks and weird things all over the place. I can't even begin to describe some of the things you'll find in the guest spaces...that's really part of the fun of staying here! Anyway, the landscaping is beautiful. And there are fainting goats! And a pig named Victoria! And chickens! And bunnies running everywhere. And you can have firewood delivered so you can make a bonfire and cook s'mores. Really I can't say enough about what a nice space this is. Hopefully one day everyone can rent out the rooms again and we can celebrate one of their anniversaries!

As I helped my…read moreclients plan their wedding - from out of state - in less than 3 months, I couldn't have asked for better boots on the ground. Prior to the wedding, she is a wealth of information and resources for clients and vendors alike so you never have to start from scratch. As a Planner I know that working with experienced, vetted vendors is worth its weight in gold and Kerri helped make that happen. It's honestly a great venue for "the destination couple" who wants a beautiful rustic wedding at a great venue, without having to worry about a thing - trust me, Kerri will take care of you. Owls Hoot Barn even has an in-house planning team you can hire, that is dedicated to serving OHB couples who need additional support. The Wedding Weekend (helped along by great weather!) went even better than I hoped for this client! I worked with Abigail to get some early setup done and she is a gem! The day of the wedding I was thoroughly impressed with the Venue's Staff, including the in-house food and beverage staff that worked seamlessly with the preferred catering company Forno Rosso. Ashley was such a huge help all day and quickly answered all my random questions and requests throughout the day. Our bartenders for the evening were Brandy and Terri and I never saw them without a smile as they helped guests. The F&B Staff were - always attentive and willing to help with small adjustments. From Jessica who helped make sure everything looked great and went according to plan, to Kerri's own daughter - everyone was polished, professionally dressed, and overall incredible. The guest experience was perfect. Our clients were happy and their guests had a blast!

Kerri stopped at nothing to make sure we felt taken care of, that every detail was handled, and that our day ran as smoothly as possible. Even when some very unexpected rain hit right in the middle of our ceremony, her team was incredible. They transitioned everything inside without a hitch and made sure the celebration continued seamlessly. We never had to worry about a thing. The property itself is stunning beyond belief, and having so many of our closest friends and family stay with us on-site made the entire weekend that much more special. It truly felt like we had this beautiful little world to ourselves for the weekend, and we couldn't have imagined a more perfect place to get married. We would not change a single thing. We are so incredibly grateful to Kerri and her entire team, and I would recommend this venue to absolutely anyone. Truly the best weekend and the best day of our lives!
