We agreed my clothes would be ready a few days later on a Tuesday, when I came to pickup they said they made a mistake but that the clothes would be ready the next morning at 730 am. I came in at 830 am to find out they made another mistake and my shirts still weren't ready. They seemed to have a hard time acknowledging the second error and I felt like I received more of an attitude than an apology when I finally did get to pick up my clothes. Maybe it was an off day, but I won't be returning to find out. And their prices are too high. read more

This is directed towards Dennis who I am told is the owner of Cathy's Cleaners. It's amazing to me that in this day and age a person (especially the owner of a business) could be so clueless about how to speak to their customers. I borrowed my girlfriends sons sleeping bag and thought it would be nice to have it dry cleaned before I returned it to him. My fault for not asking how much you would charge to clean a sleeping bag. But when I stopped in to pick it up I was shocked that the charge was $34. I don't think the sleeping bag is even worth $34. I asked the girl at the counter (apparently your daughter) if she could reduce the price at all. She said she could not but suggested I talk to one of the managers and come back later. I said OK. I came back a few days later with a couple of shirts to drop off and talked to someone who I think was one of your managers. She said there was nothing she could do but if I went over to Safeway and bought something, that on the back of the receipt there was a $10 coupon that I could use and thereby reduce the price of the sleeping bag cleaning by $10. (I'd like to also mention that she pointed to the Safeway which is in the same parking lot as your location.) I agreed and said I would be back with a coupon. So the next day I went to Safeway and bought some groceries and there was no coupon on the back of the receipt. In fact I looked at many receipts and there was no coupon for Cathy's cleaners on any of them. I went back the following day and purchased some beer at Safeway and again there was no Cathy's Cleaners coupon on the back of the receipt. So I made a third trip back to pick up my sleeping bag and shirts and this time the same girl said she didn't know why there was no coupon on the back but there was nothing she could do to give me the $10 off. She called somebody and they told her that the coupons were printed at the Safeway store on third street only. So now I have to make a special trip to the other Safeway to get the $10 off I was told I could get by going to the Safeway a few hundred yards from your establishment? Seems a little ridiculous that you need a coupon to give a long-time customer a $10 discount. I'm a little frustrated because I needed to return the sleeping bag to him today as he is leaving town so I asked her if she could call a manager. She called you and you told her you wouldn't do anything without the coupon. Then you walked in a few moments later and I addressed you but you just walked past me and said you had to go to the bathroom. When you came out I explained the situation as above. I also said you probably didn't recognize me as I had a beard and had not been in for quite some time because I took three months off to hike the Pacific crest Trail. Otherwise you surely would have remembered me because I have been taking my dry cleaning to you for a long time. So you proceeded to look me up in your system and told me that I have spent an average of $40 per month with your business. So you were looking me up to see what I was worth to you? By the way I just realized that most of my dry cleaning for the last year had been dropped off and picked up by my girlfriend and under her name so we would be worth a lot more than that to you. In any case you had an opportunity to give good customer service and could have said something like "sorry about the misunderstanding's. We appreciate your business and would be happy to give you the $10 off." Instead you told me that you would do this one time and never again. And begrudgingly gave me the $10 off. Why would you do that? You gained nothing by giving me the $10 discount. You lost an opportunity to win me over and keep me as a customer. Instead you only made me feel cheap and unimportant as your customer. I was going to just leave and not say anything as most customers do. But having ran businesses myself, and understanding that for every complaint you get there are 24 people who don't tell you about their dissatisfaction I decided to let you know how I felt. Maybe you have never looked at the research or just don't care about treating your customers with respect and appreciation. But I thought maybe you were just having a bad day and didn't realize the way you had just spoken to me. In any case when you walked back and I tried to explain how you made me feel. This gave you another opportunity to say something like "I'm sorry I made you feel like that sir, we appreciate your business and want to keep you satisfied as our customer." But no. You proceeded to justify what you said to me and told me you have ran many businesses very successfully and that you can't keep giving these kind of discounts and stay in business. Wow. read more

This place has lost its way, so you should stay away. Over the past several months, any minor alteration or button replacement never gets done. I pick up, work is marked with a safety pin and not done. Today, I go to pick up shirts and a coat that I was emailed were complete. Two items on the shirts - not done. Again. I was told the coat won't be ready until the 29th. Ugh. I try to get the coat back - I need it for a trip next week. No one knows where it is. At 2nd street they tell me it is at the Westside store. So, I drop off 4 shirts, leave 2 that weren't complete and take the rest and head off to the Westside store. When I get there they've been looking for the coat and can't find it. Wow. I leave, thinking I'm going to have to purchase a new coat since this one is lost. But, the 2nd street store calls and they found it. Heading back there. I get to 2nd street. The coat was wadded up in a bag at the bottom of a pile for a week. It's unclean, wrinkled as hell, and no alteration. At this point I ask for all my stuff back and take it to a new dry cleaners. Cathy's can keep the amount I already paid for work that wasn't complete. Consider it my goodbye bonus. Never again. Stay away. read more

When I looked up this Cathy's Cleaners on Yelp and saw that it had only 2 stars I wasn't surprised, if I could give it 0 I would. I used to come here for my school to get our club shirts cleaned here and I never once had a good experience here. Not only do they treat their customers VERY poorly, but the owner is the most disrespectful of them all. The worst part is, every time stopped by to pick up our shirts he would say "we do this as a free service but we expect in return for you to yelp us well online." Was recommended to them by Scizzorbird alterations (who would get a 5 Star) but was very disappointed in the work Cathy's on 2nd. There customer service attitude is terrible and the work was not acceptable. Brought in a black long wool coat I just had my sleeves altered. Went to pick it up and it didn't look clean at all. The young man said indignantly "I can assure you ma' that it was dry cleaned but we can do it again". There was still lint line around the sleeve where the alteration was done. When I returned the cost was $6 more because I requested lint removal. Which I did not and neither did the young man speak about it or warn me there would be an extra charge. When I complained the guy (owner? Mgr?) took The extra charge off without saying a word. Seems 'indignant' attitude was contagious. Won't go back again. read more

Cathy's Cleaners of Bend, Oregon damaged my item. They were defensive when I brought the damage to their attention. They were self-serving in their attempts to resolve the issue, as they were only willing to "mend" the item instead of replacing it. The item is not able to be mended, as you cannot restore an item's length after it has shrunk. Be aware that when you drop-off your stuff for DRY CLEANING, a process that should not involve the dryers since the item should not be getting wet, that your stuff will be tossed in their DRYERS. My item was damaged and it was indicative that the damage was due to their dryers. For example, the only way an item will shrink is if a dryer is used. In addition, my item had fabric balls covering its entirety. The owners are a married couple, who are not well informed about business ethics. Mr. Dennis Loveless is one of the owners, who acknowledged damage and internal communication flaws, however he was unwilling to replace my item. Very unfortunate for a small town to not trust a local owner. read more

I had brought in a cream color pair of dress pants that my husband had worn and there was still a stain on the pants. They said that they would clean it again. Thought I should provide an update on the carpet debacle....when it finally was delivered back to me all looked well - they left it wrapped in plastic and I thought they might have just redeemed themselves. However, once I opened the wrapping, the carpet looked like it hadn't even been cleaned. It's pretty easy to tell if something has been cleaned when it's a white carpet. It looked like they wrapped it to send it off-site which they had told me they needed to do - but what I received in return was the same carpet - it didn't even smell clean. Bottom line is this place is awful and rips you off - quoting one price and then charging another and then they don't even do the service charged for. read more

First they lost the ticket stating who owned the comforter they picked up. The worst part is my comforter came back dirtier than when it left my hands! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND NEVER USE THIS CLEANERS! I took 4 shirts in and 2 of them came out ripped. One was a little older so I didn't cause much of a stink about that one but the other was almost brand new (and my favorite work shirt). The owner and manager were extremely rude and made me feel that this was all somehow my fault. They finally agreed to pay for the one shirt (after a lot of persistence on my part) and after months of waiting for the check and numerous check ins asking where it was, I finally got a check for well less than the value of the shirt. Not even so much as an apology for ruining my shirts and the time I had to put into getting what I rightly deserved. The owner needs a class in customer service 101. Would give this place a zero if possible. STAY AWAY!!! read more

After using another dry cleaner in town, I took a down comforter and a cashmere sweater to Cathy's. The attention to detail was great. Staff was very friendly and the turnaround time was very fast. They even called me to ask if they could hold onto the comforter another day to fix some places that needed sewing. Wow, I am impressed! read more

As an advocate for small business, I hesitated for a few weeks before writing this review. But, as an advocate for the consumer, I felt I must. After all, small business, like any business, deserves its business because of its customer relationship, and in my case, Cathy's failed remarkably. I was intrigued by Cathy's because of the offer for free delivery to my home. When my clothing didn't arrive on the appointed day (Wednesday), I called. The West Side branch told me "they didn't handle that" so I would have to call the other branch. I did. They told me I'd get my clothes on Friday. When my clothes didn't arrive, I called. They said it seemed that there was a mix up. (Apparently, a capability of theirs.) But they did offer to give me a 50% off coupon on my next order, and that it would be given to me when I got my clothes. I offered to pick them up on Saturday, since I wouldn't be on their route until the following week. When I did, my shirts were hanging, though I asked them to be folded. When no 50% off coupon was offered, I thought, "no loss, I'm not coming here again." They had a chance to redeem a miserable experience. They only made it worse. The clothes were clean...but isn't that the minimum expectation? My other hesitation in writing was that an employee might "get in trouble." From my perspective, this is not an employee problem. It's a systems problem, a training problem and a customer experience problem. It seems they haven't looked at their business from the customer's experience and created systems and training that make that experience a delight. Thankfully, I didn't need these clothes for a business trip, Otherwise, I'd be yelping for negative stars. read more

A bit disappointing. When I am charged $20 for cleaning a coat and tightening the buttons, I expect the job to be done right. Not only were the buttons not tight, but upon inspecting the coat, there were still pet hairs on it. Of course, by the time I realized all this, I was already back at work, from which i initially left to pick the coat up. I called them to see what they could do for me for the inconvenience, Jenna said that they would redo it and that she could not offer any discount at all. Not happy since I was planning on wearing this jacket for a special function tomorrow. Way to throw a monkey wrench in the mix. I wonder if all cleaners in town are this way. I switched from Mirror Pond Cleaners for similar reasons. There is just no attention to detail. This place gets 2 stars for their excellent customer service. I brought my Belgian linen curtain panel to Cathy's Cleaners in Bend, Oregon and it was apparent it had been tumbling in the dryer for a while. The fabric was damaged and the hem was torn. In addition, there was a new spot of dirt. They took it upon themselves to "fix" it without my consent, where they created a permanent hem. The original was a temporary hem and their alterations created permanent, unfixable holes in the curtain. Cathy's Cleaners owner, Dennis, was unwilling to be unaccountable. He explained that since my damaged item had been left for longer than 30 days that he could have donated my item. As a business owner, I would believe you would want to follow a Code of Ethics or you could risk consequences from your licensing board or your community. I never received any follow-up from Cathy's Cleaners after the initial pick-up when I noticed my item was damaged. Dennis explained that they made several calls, which is untruthful. However, he did admit that his business has an internal communication issue. Plus, I do not understand why he would feel comfortable donating my item, regardless of his 30 day policy, when this was not a regular pick-up. This is a special circumstance because it is an item that was damaged on their behalf so donating it would be negligent. His justification for not wanting to replace this item was a stretch and one that was self-serving. He further explained that his only option to rectify their mistake was to "fix" it again. However, it is impossible to fix permanent holes and add length when it was shrunk by their DRYERS, which is contrary to its care instructions. The item shrunk by 3+ inches (confirmed and agreed by Dennis) and it is not possible to restore it's original length (100x108). I explained to Dennis that I have no choice but to pursue online reviews because he is unwilling to provide a professional, ethical, accountable or appropriate option to resolve his mistake. He explained that I needed to "attorney shop quick" because I was bullying him and intimidating him. He also explained that I could not visit his stores and it would be seen as trespassing. Lastly, he explained that I could not call as it would be seen as telephonic harassment. All in all, Dennis and his judgment seems self-serving and my nice item was not treated with its special care it needed by an expert, who should have been Dennis as he owns a cleaning company. Be aware that they use their DRYERS, which are damaging and not appropriate for special items - it's written on a special item's care instructions, located on the item. read more

Customer service here is a foreign concept. After using Cathy's Cleaners in Bend for years, I'm done. They called to tell me they had two of my shirts. I went down to pick them up and they told me they were at the Redmond store. Okay...could you have them sent to the Bend store and call me when they arrive? Never heard from them. I went down several weeks later to pick up the shirts and they could not find them. "They're gone", said the manager. I explained to the manager that he is the one who told me they were in Redmond and that he would call me. "I don't see how we're in the wrong," he says. "You lost my shirts. Very disappointing experience with Cathy's cleaners. I have family in town and come to Bend very frequently. I was in town in June and brought in a handful of items to be cleaned. When I came in to pick them up, one of my shirts was completely stretched out/damaged. They assured me they could fix it and since I was leaving in a few days, said they could mail it to me. More than two months and 5+ emails later, I still have no shirt, nor do I have the monies they promised me to compensate for my damaged item. In addition, one of the other items they cleaned had to be dry cleaned back at home as it came back with stains (which I didn't notice until I got home). Bad job cleaning and horrible customer service - really bummed this place couldn't perform. UPDATE - nearly 3 months after the damage occurred, I did get a reimbursement check from Cathy's Appreciate this, but wish it hadn't taken all the nagging required to get to this point. read more

In late October, I took some sweaters in for cleaning and a skirt in for alterations to the Westside location, which advertised on-site alterations. When my sweaters were done, one that had beautiful beaded flowers was ruined. The manager was nice, wanted to make it right and didn't charge me for the cleaning. Accidents happen. But, what made me decide to never go back was the alterations debacle. The skirt -- a simple shortening job and minor take-in of the waist -- was to be done in about 2 weeks. When the due date came, I received a call that it would be another couple of days before it was done. That was no problem and I appreciated the call. However, it would be the last time I heard from anyone so a month after I had taken the skirt in, I went to the cleaners to find out where it was. No one seemed to know as apparently the alternations were not "on site" as advertised. Later that day, I received a call that they found the skirt and I could pick it up the next day. But when I went to get it, it was not there and again, they had to call around to try to find it. Again I received a call that I could pick it up the next day. This time, the skirt was there when I went to get it but I could not believe what I saw. The skirt had just been cut off -- that was how the skirt had been shortened. No hem, no nothing. Just a raw cut. And the take in of the waist was done nicely on one side but on the other, there is a bulge. Again, they didn't charge me -- not sure what I would be paying for anyway -- but after 4 weeks, I will have to redo the alteration on the waist and sew a hem myself that will have to be a teeny tiny hem since they cut the skirt to the finished length. Since I moved I started going to the 2nd street location and have had several problems. twice the order was not ready on the day promised, A repair was not done when I picked up an order. They did not charge because of the errors but even so it was huge inconveinence for. I will definitley try anothet cleaners. I had dropped off 5 items to be cleaned - 4 of them were finished on time as expected. The last item, a pair of black pants, took over a week and a half for me to track down. I went into the cleaners everyday as each day they would tell me it would be there the next. They proceeded to tell me they were still working on the stain when there was no stain to begin with! I had to call all the stores trying to find a manager. I finally heard from the owner who said he would do everything he could to locate my item - he never followed up. After continuing to check each day they finally arrived - and they still charged me! Very disappointed in my experience and will never be back. read more

NOTE: This is not a rant from a habitual complainer, but from a rather rational, kind, positive, easygoing, average guy. It is only the egregious lack of customer empathy, honesty, and integrity that both the workers and management of Cathy's exhibited to my wife and I as we traveled through Bend on our honeymoon (I am a native Oregonian and my wife is from Illinois) that brings me to write this scathing review of a small business located in what is my favorite city in the world. I brought my wife's wedding dress to be cleaned by Cathy's Cleaners on the afternoon of Saturday, 9/20/2014. This was in the midst of my honeymoon (we were staying a couple of nights at Sunriver in a cabin and visiting with some old friends) and on that following Tuesday, 9/23/2014, we would be traveling to Portland to visit with my sick father so that he could see my wife in her wedding dress and I in my tuxedo (his serious health condition prevented him from traveling to Chicago to attend our actual wedding). I absolutely needed this dress to be ready for pickup by 10 am on that Tuesday morning so that we could stay on schedule to meet my father as planned. The lady at the front desk got the guarantee (via telephone) of the manager ("Dennis") that the dress would be absolutely finished by this agreed upon time. The only reason that I entrusted the wedding dress to the staff at Cathy's in the first place was the fact that they assured me that the dress would be finshed by 10 am on Tuesday morning. On Tuesday morning I received a a call from one of the workers at Cathy's who stated that she "needed more time" with the dress. I told her that I was on a strict schedule, that this was completely unacceptable, and that I needed it ASAP. She called me around 10 am telling me that the dress was in fact cleaned and pressed. When I arrived at Cathy's, the dress was as stained and dirty as when I had first dropped it off!!!! A card attached to the dress stated "needed more time to complete". Additionally, a tuxedo shirt that I had dropped off to be pressed and cleaned was completely wrinkled! The lady at the front counter said that "these type of things usually take about a week". I told her of the guarantee that I had received on the preceeding Saturday from her manager and she just shrugged, saying nothing. Utter silence. *Sigh* After my honeymoon was over, I called Cathy's from my home in Chicago. The lady there, Courtney, actually apologized for the terrible service that I experienced, and agreed that I should be refunded the total cleaning bill for the dress of $175.00. She said it would be credited to my account immediately. After 10 days, I hadn't received any refund. I called into Cathy's and was greeted by Dennis, who was less than helpful, to say the least. He said that Courtney wouldn't have promised such a thing and that the dress had in fact been cleaned. I brought up the fact that there was a card attached to the dress that had a box checked on it that read, "needed more time to complete". How could it be that the dress had in fact been cleaned when this card was in fact attesting that it was not clean?! Dennis had no answers for this "logic bomb" that I laid on him (in an exceedingly calm and polite manner, mind you) and basically said that I should take my business elsewhere from now on. Dennis, knowing that I live in Chicago, knew that this was most likely a one-time transaction. None-the-less, shouldn't customers, at the very least, expect to have the work that they paid for be done completely, in a professional manner....and completed at the time guaranteed (by the manager, no less)? After speaking with Dennis, I then received a call from Courtney about ten minutes later and she stated that I apparently misunderstood her and that she never said that I would receive a refund. I told Courtney that just ten days prior that she in fact had guaranteed me a full refund. As with the girl at the counter earlier, there was utter silence in response to my statement! This was very disappointing, to say the least. I am left completely disheartened after a) Losing out on my $175.00, b) Having my wife wear a dirty wedding dress to make the best of an already sad situation with my infirmed father, and c) Essentially being called a liar by Dennis and Courtney, who claimed that I was not promised a refund when I unequivocally was. I suspect that when things go according to plan, Cathy's might do right by its customers. When things go wrong, however, it is the unsuspecting customer that pays the price when dealing with the obtuse, unfriendly, and incompetent management that runs this farce of a business. I kindly ask that you think twice before entrusting any of your favorite garments to Cathy's. They do not stand behind their work and you cannot take them at their word. read more

I needed my suit pressed which was wrinkled from traveling, talked with owner while I waited, very friendly, and I was good to go for my presentation in about 8 minutes.
