They gave us a cheese platter and crackers and for the grand finale, they took us on a small tour where they happened to be bottling a wine that day. The grounds of Red Barn Ranch provide the most picturesque backdrops for photos, as well as stunning indoor areas. This ranch is a dedicated event venue/ however there are a few head of cattle on the nearby properties that lend themselves to the authentic country feel and vibe. (No cattle will be present at the venue, I promise! Just in a beautiful, country picturesque way in the far background viewed from the parking area). This is a Mendocino County favorite place- a gem among locals. Having kind and considerate hosts makes all of the difference to your event experience. The grounds are gorgeous, well kept, and somewhat whimsical. The owners (Karen and Jack) have a great eye for blending their beautiful gardens with the stunning Alexander Valley. Everyone was stunned by the beauty of the location. The property functions brilliantly as a wedding location. We had 125 guests for a ceremony, formal seated dinner, dancing, and a photobooth. There is a large area that is well hidden from the rest of the property that is perfect for catering and event prep work. Note that you have to get clever with catering, because the house kitchen is not to be used for cooking for large crowds. We used a paella caterer, which worked brilliantly. One of the secrets the property holds is the beautiful lighting that appears after dark. There is even a chandelier in a tree! We wouldn't have imagined the property could actually look even more beautiful after dark. The home itself is absolutely gorgeous, and it was such a treat to be able to have our entire immediate family together in one spot for three days. We echo the other reviews regarding the owners. Although a brilliant event space, the property is also Karen and Jack's home, and they expect you to respect it as such. So long as you understand this, everything should go smoothly. There were a couple of bumps between the owners and our wedding planner, but everything worked out in the end. Be sure to ask Karen her ideas if you take a tour. She had some creative insights on how to use the property.

We were served a tasting of five wines, two whites and three reds. The server, Riley was friendly and hospitable. My favorites were their 2023 Pinot Noir that was smooth, and surprisingly their Malbec was a hit; I usually don't like Malbecs but this was smooth and spicy. These two wines stood out due to that flavor profile, spiciness, and the lack of tannins on my palette. It was a cozy vibe tasting in the cave, they also had cards games for us to enjoy.

It was so nice to head upstairs after dinner and fully relax in our own space. Our room was stocked with thoughtful treats upon arrival, and we had access to the most beautiful private gym. The pool area is stunning, and we loved riding the bikes they provide to explore the property. I would absolutely stay here again. The place is beautifully designed and the dishes were tasty, but our server did not read back our order and did not listen carefully enough which ended up with me not getting my main course. Once all the main courses were brought to the table, I was the only one without their main. I specifically said "That's not what I ordered. I ordered the cod" to one of the guys delivering the food. Then our server came and said she thought we were splitting the cod. I had to reiterate that we each ordered the cod. After 10-15 minutes passed, everyone finished their food, so we asked if my main is coming anytime soon and the server said again that we ordered one cod to split. We explained again that we each ordered an individual main. She asked if we wanted to order it then and said it would take about 15 minutes, but it had been too late and I did not want to eat my main alone, 30 mins after everyone had finished their food. I was the only person in the table without their food, and I received no apology whatsoever in either moments - when all the mains arrived and the mistake was caught, or after asking when my main was coming and realizing I never got my food. I was very excited to come with my family and left very disappointed. The server did not seem to care much, and that was the worst part of "hospitality". For such a gorgeous place with such great food it's a shame this is the level of service I received.
