    The perfect patio.

Incredible meal, amazing wine selection of course and the perfect patio! We felt like VIPs!

Horrible over salted and charred wagyu

Elegant Escape Let Down by Comfort and Cuisine We stayed for two nights and three days at The Madrone. It's a beautiful estate with an excellent porch, perfect for enjoying your morning coffee. The hotel staff were exceptionally attentive and kind, and the valet, Michael, was an absolute gem. The rooms were charming and picturesque. Another highlight is the location, two wineries are within easy walking distance, making The Madrone not only convenient with its own in-house bar and restaurant but also a premium choice for wine lovers looking to enjoy tastings without the need to drive. Unfortunately, the biggest drawback was the rock-hard beds. I quite literally left with back pain. Thankfully, Healdsburg has plenty of spas to help remedy that. The Madrone Bar was lovely, with talented bartenders who clearly take pride in their craft. The restaurant, however, was hit or miss. While it offered a beautifully curated wine list sure to please any sommelier, the food itself was inconsistent. The duck dish and halibut crudo were excellent, but the remaining courses fell flat, particularly the "caviar," which turned out to be little more than roe. Our dining experience was quiet and calm, likely due to the off-season of November, but our waitress seemed on edge and somewhat inattentive, which detracted from what could have been a more polished service experience. My partner, a wagyu enthusiast who has enjoyed authentic wagyu in Japan, found their version over-salted and charred, more reminiscent of a standard steak. For a $400 meal, the experience didn't live up to expectations. Overall, while The Madrone is undeniably elegant and the service staff generally warm, the comfort and dining experience left much to be desired. The convenient access to nearby wineries adds undeniable appeal, but the overall stay was somewhat a disappointing experience for what was meant to be a special birthday getaway.

Bungalow sitting area in bedroom, with fireplace.

We loved this wonderful hotel! We were celebrating our anniversary and there was a lovely handwritten note left for us in the room. We had a bungalow room, and it was wonderful! A small private patio off to the side, a sitting room, bedroom with another sitting area with a working fireplace. So cozy and romantic. All the decor was lovely, unique and high-end. The bathroom was large and it had heated floors! Also a jacuzzi tub, and a shower with good pressure. Breakfast was included, sort of an expanded continental breakfast with a different hot dish included each day, along with coffee, juices, yogurt and small breakfast pastries. Everyone was so pleasant too. We were greeted with a glass of champagne from the nearby Orsi vineyards. (You can have a 2 for 1 tasting as a hotel guest.) Charles, the maitre d was so welcoming and helpful. Joe helped with parking & bags. We absolutely loved our stay, and looking forward to visiting again.

Seared Salmon- nicely plated but overcooked.

Beautiful property and grounds. The house had a charming character. The hotel staff declined our request to see a sample room as we were leaving the property. This was a missed opportunity by the staff as we were considering it for a small corporate team's multi-day meeting. We should have known better given the lack of attention to details during the meal. Despite noting in the reservations that we were celebrating a birthday and mentioned to the restaurant host and waitstaff, there were no special efforts to recognize the celebration. Not even a candle on the donut holes with our bottle of sparkling.... The brunch food was good enough, nothing stood out. The seared salmon was overcooked.

What a fun eclectic place. In all the years I've lived here, i hadn't been yet but a gal pal and I decided to check it out. Fun funky atmosphere. Had a cocktail and a few nibblies. Excellent service in the front lounge. Great view from the porch. A fun afternoon - highly recommended. (do we aware of the extra misc charges though - see receipt)

Amazing experience, the madrona is connected to the madrona hotel. Beautiful hidden spot. Excellent food, drinks, ambiance, and aesthetic. Prepare to spend, it is a luxury experience. And, the wait staff is incredible. My drinks were all topped off. Love it! seems like a great place for a wedding

Winding up the drive. So pretty!

On July 4 2025 I had one of the best meals I've ever had. This was my first time at the Madrona, and the entrance gate charmed me from the get go. We wound up the driveway and the gracious main building came into view. I felt like I was invited to a fancy party at someone's summer mansion. I immediately made a not to check hotel prices--located just a few miles outside of Healdsburg proper, it's the perfect mix of "close" and "away." Onto our meal. Cocktails/mocktails: we ordered a variety, and all were sublime. You really can't go wrong. I can't even recommend one over another. We started with warm rolls--subbing butter for the chicken schmaltz--and the almost crispy tops of the rolls contrasted with the soft, piping hot middles. A smattering of flakey salt made each bite perfect. The tempura is almost a tempura pancake--the individual vegetable are coated and fried and then sort of melded into a crispy disc. How can each piece be distinctly flavorful but also complementary?! My rock cod looked a bit watery. Then I tasted the broth, and it would have stood on its own as a brothy soup. Is that a hint of coconut? The dish was completed with both peas and pea sprouts, and they provided a crisp counterpoint to the tender fish. Truly a delight. We were too full dessert...or were we? Sharing a seared peaches-and-cream dessert was just the thing. Im a sucker for a warm-and/cold dessert, and this one was delicious. A few bites and then we really were done. Exiting the building, there was a popping sound, and we watched the fireworks from Healdsburg from the porch for a bit. Could not have been a nice evening. PS shoutout to the outstanding staff, everyone was friendly and professional. Plates and silverware were changed between course in a quiet way. Skylar was extraordinarily nice and was so informative when we had questions about food. The host was warm and made us feel like we were repeat and welcome customers (and we are sure to become repeat customers). Thank you, all!

The friendly employee told us a bit about the hotel as we were checked in and we got our keys. Our room was facing the interior courtyard as most of the rooms here are. We had a gas fireplace in the room which would come in handy during the cooler times of the year. We also had a little balcony which was great. I thought it might be a little noisy during the day or at night with people in the courtyard down below but it really wasn't an issue. The room had a nice clean bathroom with a fairly large shower. Double sinks as well which is always nice. The bed was comfortable, however when we checked in there was a large tear in one of the bed sheets. I called down to get it replaced, unfortunately housekeeping had already gone home. The front desk person offered to change the sheets for us, but we did that ourselves. The hotel has some wine tasting nights, though I'm not really sure how consistent they are. We didn't partake, but it may be available. They do have self service laundry available at the sister hotel which is right across the parking lot. The detergent is sold in a vending machine near the laundry room. There is lots of parking (you need a tag displayed in your car) and you can access the rooms either by stairs or elevator. Just a little ways down from the hotel you'll find a great trail that goes into town along a little stream which I really enjoyed. I enjoyed our stay at The Lodge and would recommend it. It's in a great location with lots to do around town.

But he definitely doesn't bring the brand any good recognition on service or professionalism. My stay: I am a minority but don't look at myself that way but obviously Elliot did. He seemed to be a West County Boy (west Sonoma County) lacquered in something other than kindness. He intentionally denied my checkin as a Diamond Member and never acknowledged me as such. I know the line in Hilton: " Thank You For being a Diamond Member....". Fast forward to 5 pm. Elliot still not letting me check in. I'm waiting in the lobby being super quiet and obviously aware of his tactics. Another person, female, comes by and ask me if the could help. I say yes I'm trying to check in. She says "Yes there are other rooms available would you like to check in". Of course I quickly take her offer and check in. I ask the housekeeping, where do you get ice? She says the front desk. I go back and guess who is there? Yup Elliot He says "OH yeah I will get you ice " . He goes around the front desk so I cannot see him. I hear him grunt out a big loogie as he cleared his throat rummaging with the ice scooper. Well at that point, I drive to the store to buy my own ice. True story The other thing which was also very odd about this Tapestry Hilton were the holes in the towels. As ai waiting in the pool area, several other guests called to complain about holes in all the towels at the pool. Later once I entered my room, I noticed the same thing. All of the bath large towels had holes. Odd... And the phish is walking way far away from West County Elliot.....

All that said, there were a few service touchpoints that felt out of step with a Michelin three-star and #1 La Liste experience. My husband and I were hosting local friends to celebrate a major milestone of theirs. I had pre-ordered and pre-authorized Champagne to be ready on the terrace upon arrival. Instead, we were led to our seats, handed beverage menus, and asked for our order -- I shouldn't have had to remind the restaurant of an arrangement I'd made in advance. Worse, after we'd already taken our first sips, a server tried to top off my glass from another table's bottle of Champagne. These things happen, but it reads as sloppy and unprepared for an establishment of this level. Once we moved into the dining room, things were looking up -- until the wine glasses arrived. Two of the four had to be sent back for a soapy smell. That's simply not acceptable at a three-star establishment. It's a shame these lapses colored the experience this way because at this price point and with these accolades, I expected more. Instead I'm left thinking back to the Charlie Trotter's two stars and wondering what kind of curve Michelin might be using.
