My boyfriend and I visited the Honor Mansion on a Sunday, for a quick getaway to Healdsburg (we live in Sonoma County). While we aren't traditional "B&B" types with flowerly and overly feminine designs, we opened our minds up after reading all about the amazing experiences people have had at the Honor Mansion. Upon arrival at the Mansion we were greeted by Lupita, who is the manager of the property. She was extremely professional, extremely welcoming, and made our experience so special. The main Mansion is really lovely and had touches of traditional B&Bs (a parlor, a breakfast room, DVDs to borrow and a fireplace for chatting, rooms upstairs) with a modern, contemporary Victorian style. We stayed in Vineyard Suite #1, which is located in an annex near the main Mansion. The suite was exceptional. From the bedding (I think it was the most comfortable bed I have slept in and I travel for a living) to the bath tubs (TWO, count them TWO tubs - one a soaking tub inside and the other outside is a jacuzzi). A fireplace, big TV (we didn't even use!), wet bar (brandy anyone?), a beautiful huge shower that is big enough for a small family to live in, and a lovely, private back patio (again, jacuzzi tub). They anticipate every amenity and need you may have - and they do a great job at it. Wine was waiting for us in our room, but we instead enjoyed a glass of Dutcher Crossing offered at our welcome with Lupita. They also have appetizers in the evening in the Mansion. We walked downtown to Healdsburg for dinner at Valette, and took a cab back. Tea was delivered to our door in the morning with delicious homemade biscotti. After a relaxing wake up, we wandered to the Mansion for an exceptional breakfast. They have different specials each day - this day it was a Southwestern style omelette with cheddar biscuits (with a hint of jalapeno!). We also nibbled on fresh fruit and pastries. They can bring breakfast to your suite, but we loved the cozy breakfast nook and chatting with the friendly staff. Oh, and I forgot - MIMOSAS! They have the longest list I have ever seen of mimosas! We tried the mimosa of the month - pomegranate. It was high quality sparkling and the flavor was so great. You get two complimentary per guest, so enjoy. We walked the grounds and wished we had more time for bocce and warmer weather for the pool - pool side massage? Yes, please! We loved it so much we bought a gift certificate for my parents. Let's just say - if they don't use it, we will! An exceptional, romantic experience for fans of tradition and fans of the modern. read more

Probably the nicest place I've stayed at in wine country. We really enjoyed our stay at the Honor Mansion. We loved the relaxed feel of this cute and homey B&B. Each room is a little different, we had the garden suite. It had it's own private driveway, many different outdoor seating areas and an outdoor jacuzzi. The room itself was very cozy. Breakfast is served every morning and there was wine and cheese each evening. Every staff member was very helpful and went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. DVDs for your room, passes to the local gym or wineries, they had it all. The grounds are gorgeous and we took time to walk around in the grass and play bocce and try our luck on the putting green. So much fun. We had a wonderful stay here and it will be part of the plans when we return to the area, highly recommended. read more

Fantastic place to stay here in Healdsburg. Stayed here for a short work stint and enjoyed the professional friendly staff members. The rotating cookies in the downstairs area along with the koi pond were my favorite. They have a great property with many relaxing activities. The group and I played bocci ball & there after attempted my first match of croquet which was fun. The property is within walking distance (15min/possibly more if you're tipsy) of Flying Goat Coffee, Bravas Bar de Tapas, and Healdsburg SHED. There are some small art studios to find down in town along with some relax little areas for tastings. Great little get away for those of you looking to relax. read more

Hubby surprised me with a weekend stay at the Stayed at the Vineyard Inn Suite 3 for my birthday. I've stayed in other places in the wine country in this price range and I must say comparatively, it was PERFECT. I love the feeling of waking up for breakfast and dining with other people in a sunny, homey dining room with gourmet breakfast... the downside of this is usually a B&B that has thin walls where you have to stuff your face into the pillow and be a little less wild..I know, tmi. These Suites provide such privacy in a romantic setting- it's a great time to relax and just be. Loved: 1. The fact that my husband and I could play tennis and basketball (and I won!) in our swimsuits and get a tan! There's only 13 rooms yet a pristine croquet, put put, bocce ball, tennis, and basketball area for couples to goof around in. 2. The private jacuzzi tub on our patio with candles.. need I say more? 3. The girl that worked the phone who was very understanding (we made a res. for massage, cancelled it, remade it, cancelled it, remade it last minute). and was just as great in person during breakfast. Sorry I forgot your name! 4. Breakfast for the most part is great. The french toast was a little over cooked and tough, but the egg dish and the ham were great. 5. Super close to Cyrus. Could walk there in 10 min. (we however did not, since it's a bit harder with 4in high heels) 6. Massages were right on. Not the 'floofy' massages you get at some resorts. Nice and hard =) read more

Awesome experience. Attention to detail is amazing and service is fabulous. They think of everything including freshly baked cookies all day, coffee brought to your room or in the hallway early in the morning and fish food to feed their beautiful koi fish. The room was beautiful and comfortable and the grounds are gorgeous. They even gave us a thank-you gift we departed. My husband and I found this place last minute on our honeymoon after we had problems with another hotel and needed to find a new place to stay for 2 nights. Wow- am I glad we found this place! We stayed in the tower suite which was a cozy 2 story room with our own private hot tub on the patio. When we arrived, we found a congratulations card, a cake, and a bottle of wine that they had placed in our room. The entire stay continued to be one of the most enjoyable ones we have ever experienced. Steve and Cathy as well as the rest of the staff are extremely warm and hospitable. The breakfast was wonderful and included a mimosa menu ( bonus points in my book!). They deliver coffee to your door in the mornings. There was an evening happy hour and winemaker tasting every night we were there. I am vegan, and they prepared special snacks just for me. They also helped us arrange a couples massage in the cabanas outside by the pool which ended up being one of the best massages we have ever had. Everything about Honor Mansion was amazing and helped make our honeymoon even more enjoyable. We will definitely be returning! read more

We booked one evening in the Dogwood Room for our anniversary at $377/night. The staff was very kind and welcoming. The room was clean and we were greeted with a complimentary cake and bottle of wine to celebrate our anniversary. The main house is small and we were on the 2nd floor so we could hear all of the other guests downstairs and everyone walking up and down the stairs. Regardless, we slept well. What put a damper on our experience was receiving a call 2 days later while I was at work, asking if we took the TV remote from the room. Why would we do that? And if we had taken it by accident, at ~$400/night would we really be asked to mail it back? This felt very invasive and definitely did not make the experience feel luxurious. read more

When looking for a 4-5 day getaway to celebrate our 10th anniversary we decided to go to wine country, but not the big touristy areas of Sonoma and Napa - Healdsburg came up in a lot of recommendations and my wife mentioned that before we'd met she'd stayed at this B&B. So I looked it up and they'd significantly expanded and all the reviews were great, so we booked it. It exceeded any expectations I had. Our villa room was private, quiet, large and well appointed. Breakfast was always delicious and plenty was available. Also nice are the wine tastings they do early evenings and the snacks they provide at various points during the day. They were helpful when we needed them to be (how do we ship all this wine) but otherwise stayed out of our way. The pool is really nice as is the lounging area around it, and the bocce, tennis, basketball and croquet areas are a great way to pass time if you're tired of boozing it up, er, wine tasting. It's still got the charm of a B&B but it's large enough to almost feel like a quaint version of a boutique hotel. This place deserves all the 5 star reviews it gets and more. Couldn't complain about anything except maybe the fact that I can't live here full-time. And I wish I'd stayed longer so we could have actually used everything in the room itself and at the inn! read more

Honor Mansion is by no means a Mansion. It is smaller than it appears on it's website and it's grounds are not as vast as one would believe from their material. Having said that, the experience once you get past your perception of what the place should have been, is memorable. Their staff is super friendly. They have a welcome bottle of wine in the room, and their breakfast is delicious. Breakfast is a multiple course event and is quite delicious. The decor of the rooms is something I can't be fair about. You get a choice of rooms, and the one we picked had a patio and a private, couple's jacuzzi on the patio. It worked wel for us, but honestly te decor of the room - curtains, carpet, upholstery, furniture - were rather dark. So I felt the room didn't have a lot of light. This may be different for each room. The Honor Mansion is also quite expensive. At $400 per night, it is no luxury resort and it defies the standard pricing of a B&B. I think you will enjoy the place as long as you don't plan to spend the day indoors and don't have this perception of a grand mansion. Oh and having deep pockets doesn't hurt either. read more

They really deserve 11 stars, but Yelp just doesn't go that high. Truly a first rate, first class place that will set the bar high for future B&B stays. From the second we walked in (at 1am, due to flight delays), we immediately felt poshly at home with thick white robes, slippers laid out, a bottle of local Cabernet, and chocolate birthday cake awaiting our arrival. Not to mention, The Dogwood and Angel Rooms of our party were truly beautiful works of art. The next morning we were served a three course breakfast by Steve, the gracious owner. He quickly outlined his fave wineries, and as we found out later, mention The Honor Mansion at many, and the tasting fees are waved! The place just got sweeter and sweeter. Later, we arrived back to the mansion to find gourmet appetizers, homemade cookies, and 2 more local bottles of wine to sip while we played Bocce Ball and fed the Koi. Let me begin by saying that I have stayed all over the world for my job, and have had the opportunity to experience some extremely highly rated hotels (Ritz, Four Seasons, etc). For those of you who have also experienced these luxury hotel chains, you know that the expectation has been set for top notch service, food, and amenities. Well let me tell you about a hidden gem in Healdsburg called the Honor Mansion... The Honor Mansion is a beautiful, completely refurbished Victorian style bed and breakfast that is run by Steve and Cathi Fowler. Steve and Cathi are not only the consumate professionals, but are also two of the friendliest people you could ever meet. Steve's knowledge of the local area, including the numerous restaurants and wineries is unparalleled, and Cathi's breakfasts are nothing short of amazing! My wife has Celiac disease (allergy to Gluten), so often times she is not able to eat the majority of food that is offered in restaurants and hotels/B&B's). That however, was not the case during our excuisite stay at the Honor Mansion. As it turns out, Steve also has Ciliac Disease, and Cathi has mastered the art of Gluten Free cooking and baking, making some of the best GF pasteries I've ever tasted. After breakfast, Steve, map in hand, would come over to our table and go over his favorite wineries and restaurants in the Sonoma (Healdsburg) area, and we were never disappointed. The graciousness of our hosts, combined with the spectacular accomodations, make this trip to Sonoma and the Honor Mansion a vacation that we'll remember for the rest of our lives! read more

Where's the option on this thing to add stars, because this place deserves much more than just 5 stars! I came here for my birthday and was only able to stay one night. We arrived just in time for appetizers and wine before heading up to our room. In our room, the Dogwood room, music was playing, and a little chocolate birthday cake for two sat under a glass dome! Because we were staying in one of the less expensive rooms, I thought I should just give the bullet points in order to concisely capture some of the many things I loved about this place. *coffee, tea, hot chocolate and sherry available at all hours *a variety of delious cookies available in common areas *bottled water and sodas *one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in *cute little koi pond in the garden *yummy smelling bath products *thick, white bath towels *ffreshly cooked breakfast buffet including drinks (blood orange mimosa, mmm!) and so more than your average hotel buffet fare. *lap pool *bocce ball, tennis courts *wireless internet *friendly, helpful staff I can't tell you how sad I was that we were only able to stay one night. Is this a very upscale B&B or a high end boutique hotel? A case could be made either way. Unlike other B&Bs the cloying cute factor is kept to a minimum. Honor Mansion is decorated very tastefully in a neo-Victorian way. The grounds are beautiful and the entire place is quite user friendly. I can't say enough about the friendly and helpful the staff. From the initial tour of the property to accommodating any requests they were always ready with a smile. The breakfasts were very good and of a much higher quality than what I have experienced at other B&Bs. Honor Mansion has a high end buffet for breakfast as well as complimentary mimosas every morning. How can you go wrong when you start your day with a mimosa? Steve, the owner, is readily available with great suggestions of things to do and wineries to visit. Why not 5 stars? There were two small items that required the attention of the staff that, in my opinion, should not have required a guest to alert them to especially at a 4 diamond property like this. That said, once the staff was aware of my concerns they were promptly fixed. So four stars from me right now, but they could easily have been five. And most importantly, I would not only go back, but recommend Honor Mansion to anyone. read more

There is not a lot to say that is not already said by Trip Advisor. This is NOT Napa - very quiet and very peaceful with good food, attentive staff and lots of privacy. A few things: 1. They don't like you to bring guests to the place - they like everyone to have privacy and I get it after staying there - very quiet. 2. Bring your key everywhere - this is more B&B than hotel so you really are leaving your "house" when you leave the room. 3. Just far enough out of town to enjoy the peace and quiet. 4. I recently stayed at the Honor Mansion. 1. Service is excellent. The little details were very nice (upstairs coffee service, notes in the room, refrigerator up stairs, etc). 2. The decor downstairs is dated and the rooms feel a little small for the breakfast buffet, evening reception. It felt cluttered to me. 3. I didn't love the buffet, but my husband liked it. 4. My room was small and the bed very hard (angel oak room). The bathroom and the deck were very nice. 5. The grounds are gorgeous. I think a summer visit would be great. read more

My wife and I stayed at this magnificent property in May 2017. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - hence the five *'s. But there were a few items that I found slightly annoying, considering that this is a first class hotel. -Soon after I made the reservation over the phone, I received a confirmation email that had three paragraphs in red font. The message states "Please be sure that you reply to this e-mail that you have read and agreed to these policies as your reservation will not be confirmed until we receive your response". -The email states that check-in is 4 - 7 pm, but the concierge who took my reservation said check-in is 4 - 6 pm; so I'm not sure why the inconsistency. -On check-in day, we arrived shortly after 4:30 pm (i.e. during check-in hours) after driving from SF, but the door was locked. There is a sign on the door which instructs you to ring the bell. -We requested both milk and half-and-half with our morning coffee; those were duly delivered, but in glass bottles with running ink on the outside, rendering the hand-written labels illegible. -Our room (Vineyard Suite III) had two out of three sinks with a slow drain. -One morning at breakfast, we requested creamer with our coffee, but our server forgot to bring it. We were the only table she was serving at that time. read more

Most of what needs to be said about Honor Mansion has been said in other reviews. But, there are a couple of negative reviews that focus on Honor Mansion's policies about guests having guests. Bottom line, they're very clear: if you're not a registered guest, they don't want you on the property. Guests can't have guests, period. No kids, and no packing 14 people in a room, either. Obviously, if you want to have folks visit you during your stay, or want to minimize expenses, the policy is problematic. But the flip side of the policy is that if you ARE a registered guest, then you don't have to worry about Aunt Matilda and her wacky nephews tearing up the place while you're trying to enjoy the pool. They're not allowed, and are not welcomed when they try to crash the place. One of the highlights of my vacation was lying on an outdoor couch between the putting green and the tennis court. It was peaceful, quiet: not a soul disturbed me as I took time for myself. More than the hosted happy hour, it gave me reason to return. Sure, Aunt Matilda hates being told she has to follow the rules. Maybe next time she'll keep on driving down the road looking for places that are more her style. Places with bright orange and red signage, for example. Nephews welcome. read more

Truly and absolutely a Five Star Place. The other reviews are all accurate, but I'd like to add three things: 1. The Staff was incredibly helpful. They helped us pick out wineries and arranged for a driver to take us around the Dry Creek Valley; they helped us pick out restaurants and arranged for reservations; and they were very responsive, always offering us informed responses within hours of our (many) inquiries. 2. This was the most unobtrusive luxury place I've ever experienced. If you want their help, they're there instantly; if not, then everything is self-serve, from the gourmet food and wine, to the gorgeous sporting grounds in back. 3. The food was not merely good; it was otherworldly. The Eggs Benedict were literally the best I've ever had, and the chicken sausage we ate the last day was so good, I emailed when I got home to ask where it came from. Beautiful grounds, delicious food and wine, and a nice, knowledgeable, and unobtrusive staff. Given the reasonable price and the fact that you can walk into town, why stay anywhere else? read more

LOVED THIS PLACE. we had one of the smaller rooms, but it was still very nice. it's cute to have a shower that is in a closet. same with the potty. they have nice puffy robes. the rundown: we checked in and they had a bottle of sauv blanc from one of the local wineries there to welcome us and they baked us a CAKE! an anniversary CAKE! a lemon poppyseed cake that was delicious and delightful. free booze appears downstairs at 5. it's local wines, and they were nice ones to boot. (we got to try passalacqua and mauritsons, both we wound up visiting) snacks are out at 6. they make a mean in-house artichoke dip. they gave us tons of suggestions on where to eat, etc. useful and helpful information. they also have a small selection of dvd's you can borrow. they make reservations for you. their attention to detail was outstanding. there are snacks everywhere. candy, house baked cookies, free coffee, tea, hot chocolate and all the free waters and sodas you could want. there were decanters of brandy lying about too, in case you wanted a late-night snifter. the grounds are deceptive, but this place boasts a pool, in-room massages, 2 bocce ball courts, a tennis court (they have racquets), a half basketball court, and a putting green and a walking circle. they grow their own food! mornings are a delight. for a b&b, it is so nice to not have awkward breakfast conversations. you just grab your own breakfast tray and get what you want, which is HOT BREAKFAST AND MIMOSAS! God, the breakfast burritos were delightful. and coffee dispensers right outside my room. and the moment breakfast is over, whatever magic elf is in the kitchen starts making fresh cookies. i could seriously work there. extra perks we discovered: we rented bikes in downtown, but instead of having to haul'em back, they said we could leave them at honor mansion and they'd come pick'em up. at mauritson's, bc we told they we were staying at honor mansion, we didn't have to pay for any of the tastings!! it's not cheap, but i felt like i got what we paid for. it was a great getaway from our kids, and just as well, since under-16 is not allowed. read more

Best staycation I've ever had! We live in Santa Rosa and decided to have a mini-getaway before baby number two arrives. The property itself is beyond beautiful and the pictures online just don't do it justice. We stayed in a vineyard suite and the room was lovely and the jacuzzi right off the room was a big bonus. We played croquet, laid by the pool, enjoyed happy hour, and easily walked to town for dinner. Breakfast was phenomenal and the wine served in the room and at "wine hour" was great. All of the staff we encountered were kind and accommodating- Carmen especially was lovely and made our stay extremely special. Thanks Honor Mansion for giving us the relax stay we needed! read more

Details, details, details. This place provides everything you could hope for, and some things you didn't think you'd want or need. My wife and I checked into the Garden Suite. We actually found this place from our Fodors California guide. Upon the first call the staff was kind and courteous. Once we arrived, we appreciated that the mansion was part of an actual neighborhood, not downtown. That meant complete quiet. Our room was in front, on the side, but we were never bothered by road noise. The check-in process was perfect. Amanda took us and showed us the room, and then gave us a tour of the property. Once we got back to our room we noticed a personalized welcome card, along with a bottle of wine, and another bottle filled with Sherry. Room - Great size with king bed, mini-dining area with bar and table for two. Very clean, and included bottle of wine, bottles of water. Bathroom had two shower heads, one on each side of the bath. Well lit, and included many amenities not included in most hotels. Plenty of windows and natural light. 3 patios! Yes, 3 patios, one near the front door, one small, private patio by the side, and one in the back. This suite comes with an outdoor patio area that is pretty large. Includes table, 2 chairs, and mini-chair (like a small love seat). Also includes outdoor jacuzzi. Also outside was a fridge, with bottles of water, and a microwave on top. (just in case I guess). Back area opens right out to the main mansion pool. Grounds - Grounds are beautiful and vast. Grounds include fairly large lap pool, plenty of patio chairs and tables. Two bocce ball courts, large croquet field, a tennis court, and a half basketball court. All gear is included so you dont have to bring anything! Reception/Dinning area - Beautiful front area of the mansion where there is a constant supply of Sherry, coffee and amazing cookies. Free wi-fi throughout, pamphlets for all area attractions, and if you mention honor mansion, you usually get a discount at some places. This place is very well known in the area. Food - Breakfast is provided, and it is amazing. You get two free mimosas with each meal. You can eat in side, or near the koi fish pond, outside. Another beautiful area of the house. I can go on, but needless to say, I could not find one single thing wrong with this place. We've been all over the world, and this is easily one of the best experiences we've ever had. My boyfriend Ken treated me to a stay at Honor's Mansion in Healdsburg to celebrate my birthday this past weekend and we absolutely loved it!!! This is not your typical B&B, it's more of an upscale resort Inn with a pool, outdoor massage cabanas, bocci ball court, putting green and running track. Definitely a destination resort. The entire place was decorated to perfection and our room was just perfect and very romantic. The only complaint was that the bathroom was very small and the shower was separated from the rest of the bathroom. Other than that, just beautiful. Steve, the owner, and his staff were absolutely wonderful, highly attentive and the service throughout was incredible. They handled all the details in regard to restaurant and wine-tasting reservations. The gourmet breakfast and happy hour was totally delightful. When Ken asked about local wineries, Steve spend an hour going over all the "not to be missed" wineries and what wines they specialized in, and he was spot on when we visited them later that day. We just finished our 10th stay in 11 years at Steve and Cathi's fantastic Honor Mansion in Healdsburg, CA. And for the 10th time our opinion that there is no better B&B anywhere in the World than theirs was confirmed! Reply back to Owner's comments I actually didn't want to divulge into the details of the what happened between your employee as I didn't think it necessary to write an essay on yelp and bore the reviewers. Obviously from your comments, you were not there and did not witness the unprofessional manner in which Hanna had represented your business. I totally understand your policy doesn't mean I would recommend your place to anyone traveling in the area. It doesnt matter if it was $600 or discounted $475, you should treat your guests the same whatever the amount. $475 is still a lot of money. And from trip advisor review it seemed that you charged the guest their room for last minute cancellation but made money by giving us a "discounted room" since someone canceled last minute. Looks like someone made out with quite a bit of $ from that room that night. I'm pretty disappointed and disgusted by your lack of courtesy in this reply. And it will be obvious to other reviewers to see. Also I am very confused about my "compliments" on the phone with you. I talked to you on the phone before I went into the room. My review of the our Vineyard suite was after I spoke with you, so if I made any positive comments about your establishment it was before checked in the room. To set the record straight, it was POURING rain when I arrived and my sister who was running errands in the area did me the favor of dropping me off. Your employee Hanna was completely rude and loudly announced to us that food was not offered to outside guest when my sister did not even take a piece of your cheap food. YES it was embarrassing to be treated like someone stealing food. Guests were in ear shot since your rooms are so small. They even commented on how rude she was after she left. For sake of argument even if my sister tried a piece of the costco bought cheese, your pettiness in this whole situation showcases how your business is run: cheap and not worthy of people's hard earned $. I had never been to wine country before traveling there with my boyfriend for a romantic getaway. He found the Honor Mansion through googling and cross-referenced it with trip advisor. He only chooses places that have zero bad references on trip advisor, so this place fit the bill for that criteria. We stayed in the Dogwood room, which, when you enter for the first time, takes your breath away! Every detail you can imagine has been tended to. A welcome letter with your name awaits you as well as a bottle of wine, softly playing music on the in-room CD player, and even rubber duckies ready to join you for a bubble bath. The proprietors on this inn are Steve and Kathy, two extraordinarily lovely people who make sure to address your every need. Steve gave us advice and detailed directions to lots of fun places. Kathy cooked us gourmet meals every morning for breakfast. Like, REALLY gourmet meals. My favorite was the mexican souffle served with fresh quacamole. Coming in a close second was the french toast made out of a coissant and served on a bed of freshly made peach ice cream. The grounds are beautiful. I spent one whole day just resting on a lounge chair, under an umbrella, sipping the free sodas they keep close at hand, and reading a book. I was all alone too. Sometimes I took a break from the book and just watched some little birds playing in the fountain next to the garden. It was so peaceful... There are also tennis courts surrounded by rose bushes, a putting green, 2 croquet courts, and a half basket ball court. Kathy and Steve provide raquets, balls, putters, and everything else you can think of. Last but not least, let's not forget the koi pool that lies next to the breakfast patio. You can feed the koi fish and if you stick your hand into their pond, they come up and "kiss" your hand. I had a blast after I summoned the courage to stick my hand in there. Anyway, go. Just go. It would be an understatement to say that the Honor Mansion is one of the finest B&B's in the Healdsburg/Sonoma area; it may be one of the best in the region! The photos don't do justice to the property grounds, let alone the remarkable service and attention to detail put into every room. My girlfriend and I spent a couple days here as part of a quick romantic getaway for our anniversary, and our little bungalow (the Vineyard Suite 2) was simply perfect. We loved the fireplace, hot tub, oversized bed, and of course the grounds; indeed, we could have spent a whole day just playing tennis, bocce, golf, or swimming--all in the mansion's backyard (or the neighboring fitness center)! As an added bonus, we got an on-site wine tasting from Arista, one of the finest wineries in the Healdsburg/Russian River area. For anyone looking for that intimate, romantic getaway only a B&B can provide, look no further. The Honor Mansion will not disappoint. read more

I agree. This Inn would require a 6th star if possible. They have earned it in every way. I took my brand new wife there on our honeymoon and it was AWESOME! The service was absalutely unparalleled not to mention the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD! The rooms are comfortable and not over done, but elegant and worth every penny. I've stayed in some pretty nice places in my day, but this one takes the cake so far. Definitely recommended. They have a tough cancellation policy like everyone else, but it would take an act of God to keep me from filling my reservation. read more

Please be careful when booking at this property. They have a policy of not refunding or crediting the payment for the entire stay even if it was caused by a hospital stay. The Honor Mansion provides a delightful retreat and diversion from the stresses and pace of normal life and a perfect location for exploring the Russian River wine country. The vintage buildings and manicured grounds are a proverbial stone's throw away from Healdsburg's main square, yet are set apart on a mildly trafficked but accessible side street. The rooms are quiet and well appointed in a traditional classic style and offer luxury features that will make your stay extremely comfortable and memorable. Thoughtful touches abound and the staff never fails to be polite, attentive, and responsive to your every need. They are also ready to provide information on local attractions, events, businesses, and restaurants when asked. A large part of the special experience is the Honor Mansion's breakfast menu and the afternoon "wine and tea". Without fail, Cathy's recipes are a delight for the palate, whether you are a staunch vegetarian or an avowed carnivore. A breakfast favorite is her unique and mouthwatering interpretation of Eggs Benedict served with a delectable Hollandaise sauce as well as juicy, flavorful, thick-cut American or Canadian bacon, the latter all available on the side to suit your preference. Also impressive is the myriad of treats that are available in the "drawing room" and "dining room", with special mention demanded by her chocolate-dipped coconut macaroons that are so moist and tasty and which will satisfy even the most demanding sweet tooth. And when you have had your fill of exploring Healdsburg's charming central square and roadway tributaries and the surrounding vineyards, or simply just want to get away, sitting by the Koi pond in the north garden and losing yourself in a good book or simply shutting your eyes and drinking in the sweet-scents of the surrounding blossoms while letting your imagination slip away to the soothing sounds of the waterfall are all wonderful re-energizers. On the other hand, you can also take advantage of the ample diversions at your leisure such as the pool, the putting greens, the tennis court, and the running track. And if those aren't enough to satisfy your need for strenuous exercise, passes to the local gym are also available upon request. Indulgent, romantic B&B: Honor Mansion was an amazing experience from start to finish. We surprisingly scored a reservation at the last minute for the Tower Suite, but were immediately upgraded to the Garden Suite upon arrival. A bottle of champagne to toast our anniversary was also promptly delivered to our room... one of the many perks of staying at this fabulous location. The suite itself was a wonder for a B&B. Luxury personified. Three private entrances, fireplace, stereo, VCR and a small video collection (no DVD players yet, but really, who's coming here to watch TV?), a shower with dual shower heads, a private hot tub on the back porch where they fully encourage the use of bubble bath... amazing. The beds were covered in fluffy pillows, and every detail - from a mini-fridge stocked with complimentary bottled water, sodas, brandy, etc. to the bottomless chocolate-dipped macaroon cookies in the main dining room to a full turndown with mints and the addition of slippers to each side of the bed - was accounted for. They have an amazing wine/apps hour - on Saturday evening, it was two kinds of wine with a selection of salmon mousse, crab dip, petite tortellini and - of course - the macaroons, as well as some fresh fruit. We took a few items and sat outside by the koi pond, which is some of the most beautiful scenery around - particularly for a small, private hotel with only 26 rooms. The pool and surrounding property is gorgeous - a stroll at night, sitting out by the stars, a number of wineries off in the distance make for a killer view. They also offer spa services, a number of which can be delivered poolside if so desired. The breakfast at Honor Mansion is not to be missed. For Sunday breakfast, we were served fresh cranberry-orange scones, grilled pineapple with mango sorbet, and Grand Marnier french toast with chicken-apple sausage. This, of course, was following the basket of coffee and fresh-baked biscotti that was left on our doorstep that morning. While Honor Mansion may be a bit pricy for some, depending on the room or suite, it's definitely an experience worth having. We just got back yesterday and we're already planning our next trip! Highly recommended for anyone looking for what Honor Mansion bills as an "adult-oriented" experience. We didn't see one child on the property the entire weekend... which made the entire stay even more peaceful and relaxing. read more

We stayed at the Honor Mansion for a recent wine country getaway weekend. The other reviewers are spot on: this place is all about the amazing service. Some of my favorite details, in no particular order: * Complimentary upgrade - we booked one of their more "conventional" mansion rooms. We got a complimentary upgrade to one of their nicest suites (it was a quiet weekend). Of course, I'd never expect this, and who knows how often they do this, but it was an amazing surprise and really helped make our weekend. * Wine and snacks waiting in the room - we had a late check-in and they weren't there to greet us, but in our room they left us a carafe of red wine and plates with crackers, cheese, and fruits, all from their daily afternoon wine and cheese tasting hour. Awesome. * Outdoor activities - they've got a tennis court, basketball court, crocket course, and bocce ball. We played bocce ball for the first time and loved it - it's like curling without all the cold! * Fantastic breakfasts that feel more like a restaurant than a B&B - the buffet breakfasts they served every morning were excellent. We tend to prefer buffet style so we can pick and choose exactly what we want, as opposed to many B&Bs that serve the same plate to everyone. (Of course, each morning had a particular unique option at the buffet.) And then the staff comes around to each table to take your mimosa order (tasty!), offer anything else you need, etc. * Complimentary bottle of white wine - there was a bottle waiting for us in our room. And not a $5 bargain bin bottle either - some pretty good stuff. * Great room - well-maintained, clean, great design, with high quality furnishings Only rant (and this is super minor, and doesn't significantly detract from our overall enjoyment of the place) - why do so many high end rooms insist on having a bathroom that's partially visible to people outside of the bathroom? (In this case, via a fireplace with two windows that looks in on both the bathroom and the outside room.) We stayed in the vineyard suite and loved it! They are quite simply the nicest and friendliest place that we have experienced in the Sonoma area. We go up to the wine country from SF last minute quite often and have tried many lodgings but this one is our favorite to date! The grounds are simple but nice. And the gourmet breakfast is delicious! As mentioned by others, it is not inexpensive. However, anything else that is equivalent in the area will cost you about the same, such as the Kenwood Inn. The Kenwood Inn, however, does not come with breakfast, bocce ball court, croquet court and putting greens. read more

We stayed here this past weekend for my husband's birthday and got lucky with 70+ degree weather in February. Everything about the Honor Mansion is spectacular. The grounds, the rooms, the wine and app hour, the breakfast all were exceptional. But... the customer service and attention to detail by the staff were what made us true believers. Every single detail was taken care of, they were practically reading our minds by the second day. Sure, the price tag seems a bit on the high side but trust me... worth EVERY penny! read more
