The hubs and…read moreI were looking for a short and small getaway close to home (we'll be taking a longer honeymoon in August). I bought a deal for this place from Living Social. We had never gonna wine tasting before so this was our first time! This place had good reviews and the pictures of this place looked too cute. We drove all the way here from Davis. The trip was a little longer than what we expected. And all I can say is most GPS's don't know how to get you here and google maps isn't very smart. So follow the directions in the e-mail that they send you!! This place is owned by Marcia and Tony. I worked with Tony over the phone for my reservations. He wasn't the quickest with technology and taking down my information so you should have patience or make reservations online - FYI I made mine over the phone because of the Living Social deal. When we got there to check-in, we found Tony was away and Marcia was left to handle things on her own. She's a very sweet lady. She's also the one that makes all the food! Amazing cook!! The rooms are very cozy. The hubs was impressed the high-tech door lock that used a number pad. I liked that the room was like a mini 1 bedroom cottage. It had a very romantic feel to it, which was perfect. We made sure to take advantage of the fireplace and the whirlpool tub. But I think my favorite part was the bed! Very soft sheets and you just melt away into sleep. The only issue we had with the room were the bugs. Now don't let that scare you. It's just that my hubby extremely dislikes bugs. We found 2 baby spiders, 1 yellow jacket, 3 mosquitos. I think bugs are bound to get in and they weren't much of a problem for me to handle. Now the food! Yes it is also a B&B afterall. First day: we were served 4 muffins with pecans on top and honey and butter on the side. YUM!! Next was a slice of baked pineapple with toasted coconut shavings - never had this combo before and it was good. The main course was poached eggs with polenta. I was a bit skeptical, but it was good too! There was juice as well. Hubs and I opted for the pomegranate juice. Second day: margaritas with no alcohol, but still tasty! There was also homemade granola and I'm a fan of granola. The main course was BELGIAN WAFFLES! They were loaded with fruit and some bacon on the side. YUM YUM YUM! I'm a huge fan of the food here. Marcia is great! FYI, she also makes a cake every night that you can go into the main lodge and get some. The first night there was an apple cake that was just soooo good. She even gave me the recipe for it. Note: when you check-in, they ask about food allergies etc. Hubs is lactose intolerant so Marcia made sure to not put any cheese in the polenta or yogurt in the margarita.

There were candy in bowl on the dresser. Two luggage racks available for our use. There's a backdoor that leads to the patio. There's plenty of parking for guests. Good number of rooms. It wasn't overcrowded. There's also a wide selection of DVDs that guests could borrow. There were two wine glasses await on the dresser. If you want to read more, please read my previous review. I love going here in the summer. It was warm for sure. We rented bikes at Cloverdale Cyclery.

We chose to rent out The Meadow space near the river to have an outdoor ceremony and had an indoor reception. First off, MRCC is good for those on a budget. The hall has big glass doors that can open out onto the outdoor area, giving the room a more spacious feel. We had around 70 guests and we could have fit many more. We loved the tall ceiling and wooden beams. The kitchen area was also spacious and manageable. I very much appreciate how much flexibility the center provided us. It helped give us freedom for creativity. Many other spaces we researched allowed only beer and wine, and made you choose from a limited selection of caterers (many, if not all, were outside of our budget). We could choose any caterer we wanted, and provided our own alcohol. Jean was a treat to work with. She was funny, kind, communicative, reliable, and prompt. Whenever I had a question she responded within a few days. She met us numerous times at the center and answered all the questions I had (many times I asked the same one twice, thank you for your patience). She was very warm and made the planning process more enjoyable. As for the meth head from the previous review (from 2013) I did not run into him. I don't think he lives there anymore. I did not have any problems with non-guests. Thank you for helping us have the wedding we've always wanted!

We were very excited to each have our own rooms with attached bathrooms, and felt like QUEENS... I personally was in Room #6 upstairs with a cute little balcony. The bed was so luxurious and ridiculously comfortable that it made it really hard to get out of bed and face the day (side note: they are clearly brand-new beds and incorrectly spoken about on that negative review, so take that one with a grain of salt, SMH); Some had deep jetted tubs, some had ADA walk-in showers, something to accommodate everyone's needs! Each bathroom even had extra amenities you wouldn't expect like make-up remover and cotton balls - such a nice touch! One thing I was worried about was the traffic noise at night, but it was not an issue at all, which just shows that the insulation renovations that were completed really were impeccable and every last comfort was thought of for their guests. Access to the kitchen and laundry facilities was also a huge plus as well for last minute weather needs! I highly recommend this gem in Sonoma County when you book your next wine country adventure! =)

This place is, by far, the most uncomfortable stay at any place, ever. History be damned. We were in a room RIGHT next to a main road that provided road and car noise all night long. It was LOUD. For myself, I experienced the worst two nights of 'sleep' that I can remember because of the noise and a mattress that should have been discarded YEARS ago. The gas fireplace didn't work. Zero instructions on how to get it lit. YouTubed how to get it lit, still didn't work. The condiment on this shit sandwich of a stay was the veranda outside our room having a security camera pointed directly toward the outside furniture where you'd sit. Zero chance of having ANY privacy. Its creepy and total bullshit. We can tell the place is owned by people that could not care less about the comfort of the guests, you're just income for them. Who puts cameras in private areas? We couldn't have disliked the place any more than we did. The place is a joke. It sure made a rough stay in Santa Rosa.

The grounds are gorgeous, well kept, and somewhat whimsical. The owners (Karen and Jack) have a great eye for blending their beautiful gardens with the stunning Alexander Valley. Everyone was stunned by the beauty of the location. The property functions brilliantly as a wedding location. We had 125 guests for a ceremony, formal seated dinner, dancing, and a photobooth. There is a large area that is well hidden from the rest of the property that is perfect for catering and event prep work. Note that you have to get clever with catering, because the house kitchen is not to be used for cooking for large crowds. We used a paella caterer, which worked brilliantly. One of the secrets the property holds is the beautiful lighting that appears after dark. There is even a chandelier in a tree! We wouldn't have imagined the property could actually look even more beautiful after dark. The home itself is absolutely gorgeous, and it was such a treat to be able to have our entire immediate family together in one spot for three days. We echo the other reviews regarding the owners. Although a brilliant event space, the property is also Karen and Jack's home, and they expect you to respect it as such. So long as you understand this, everything should go smoothly. There were a couple of bumps between the owners and our wedding planner, but everything worked out in the end. Be sure to ask Karen her ideas if you take a tour. She had some creative insights on how to use the property.

I can't stress that last part enough -- Karen made me feel completely comfortable and welcome from the moment I first stepped foot in her home, to months later when I was constantly stopping by to check out the property and arrange details for my wedding. I often remarked to friends and family that it takes a special person to completely open their home and trust strangers to just take over! (Karen and her husband live at Little House and leave for the weekend to allow wedding parties to stay there.) The result of her warmth and openness was our dream wedding -- an intimate backyard event that felt as though we were getting married at home, without having to deal with the headaches of actually getting married at home. My entire family stayed at Karen's for the weekend of our wedding and I'm so glad they did because it was much more fun and intimate than staying in a hotel -- and made for a lot more fun the night of the wedding as we didn't all have to rush out the moment the reception was over. I've been at weddings where you're practically chased out with sticks when the event ends, but not here... we all lingered and chatted and cherished every moment of the evening! We had absolutely no problems with deposits -- quite the opposite, actually, as we had left some things behind and Karen took care of everything for us. And, having looked at some 50 wedding venues, I can say with complete confidence that Little House is very reasonably priced. I'm totally bummed to see these negative reviews because I absolutely loved Little House and Karen. We've received a ton of compliments on our wedding, and Little House as a venue in particular. I could really go on and on... But I'll finish by saying that I highly recommend Little House, and if you have any questions, please feel free to send me a note via Yelp and I'd be glad to serve as a reference! -- Amy Also... Little House is just beautiful!! But I'll post pictures since I'm out of words!

Inspired by our cottage theme, we played our favorite music during the days (without the fear of disturbing anyone) and enjoyed stargazing on our private porch at night. The room was well cleaned every day and supplied with ample towels for our days on the lake. The terrific hosts (R and F) kept the main house open for us to use the kitchen, access to free drinks and fruits, and access to Internet (I strongly urge you to stay off-line as long as possible). True to country hospitality, when we found a lack of venues for dinner, they invited us to a gracious family dinner. Many thanks for welcoming us into your family and home. Treat yourself to simple pleasures - spend the day swimming in the local watering holes, spend the evening enjoying wine at the vineyards, curl up with a John Steinbeck novel on the porch and welcome the starry night sky at the Rancho de la Fuente!

We were shown to our table and they offered us some time to walk the grounds, garden and view the lake. They said we could spend more time after lunch, viewing the rest of the property. The garden was beautiful. Lots of herbs and flowers, with labels. The restaurant itself was gorgeous. Wood. High ceilings. Nice decor. Our server seemed pretty new. He made a few errors throughout, but that did not significantly deter from our experience. It was really neat that the chef came out with every pairing and explained each course. We never felt rushed. There was plenty of wine. The food was exquisite. We ended up buying a few bottles of wine and even though I filled out the shipping information and told the server my preferred vendor was ups over FedEx because I have an account - he managed to bring our bottles of wine all bagged up, to our table. Yikes. We were curious about the pizza oven upon arrival. We saw it and hoped for pizza but they did not have that on the lunch pairing menu. So after we finished our scheduled lunch, it was pretty slow there, so we asked if we could stay and order more food. Our server brought the menu for us (after our third request) and we ordered a pizza and the fries which basically stated on the menu that they were the best fries you've ever had. Well, I can attest that they are not. Yes, they are shoestring fries for you lovers out there. But also, they're not a step too far from McDonald's. So that's all. Not the best of my life. Not life changing. Just like McDonald's. But the pizza was good. Unfortunately I had asked if it was red sauce and was given a yes answer. But you can see the pizza doesn't have any red sauce on it at all. I probably would've ordered a different one, if I was properly informed. Also, I asked for no balsamic glaze and of course it came with balsamic glaze. Yet another error. Whatever. I'm not sure what's up with people who swear by balsamic? Keep it off my bruschetta, it doesn't belong there. And don't put it on Brussels sprouts either. Yuck. Too much sugar and it's not necessary. On the pizza, it was fine, but not my preference. But it probably saved the pizza because there a was NO SAUCE. Anyhow- their little gift shop area is super cute and I perused the items. Also- they have a shelf of board games! How fun! It would be great to come by, get some light bites, a ton of wine, and play games and take a walk to enjoy the property. It's such a gorgeous place. I would recommend this place. The lunch and wine pairing was expensive, but the food was superior quality. The wine here is great. We did not become members but I can see why people do. Their Sauvignon blanc was one of my faves, so that was two of the bottles we purchased. Our order was eventually packaged and sent to us, via FedEx, not UPS, and was in good shape upon arrival.
