This place is your one stop shop for any & all adorable and cute trinkets & inspirational gift ideas you could have for basically anyone in your life, and now whenever I have a loved one's birthday or the general gifting holidays come up, you can't stop me from going here to search for goodies - big and small - for all the people in my life. There are tons of options for stocking stuffers, but also tons of options for thoughtful, larger scale gifts. And do you know what the best part of Catching Fireflies is? That they have 3 different locations in SE Michigan, and trust that I've been to all 3! They are all similar in the sense that they all offer an overabundance of cute & thoughtful tchotchkes & gift ideas, but also different in the sense that no two are alike. The floor plans and the products offered are different amongst all 3, which makes it all the more fun (or challenging, however you look at it) to hunt for the perfect treasures to gift your loved ones. Do yourself a favor and check out the nearest Catching Fireflies to you - there's one in Ann Arbor, Berkley (check out their sister store Yellow Door Art Market two doors down from this location), and Rochester. It'll make your life more colorful & adorable and your gift hunting much easier & more fun!

Fun and eclectic shop in downtown Berkley. Lots of fun and cool Michigan items. What fantastic and great Saturday shop. There are so many Michigan inspired items. They have socks, candles, wall or table art, bags, scarfs, jewelry, cards, UofM, MSU, stationary, kitchen accessories and so much more.

Catching Fireflies is one of those gift stores that have been popping up all over lately (i.e. Leon & Lulu, Shine, etc.) These stores are great and have lots of cool stuff. It's not anything that you need, but there is so much that you want. Catching Fireflies is no exception and it is a great place to find that unique gift you've been looking for. It's located on 12 Mile in Berkley in a really nice corner space. First off, I love love love the name. I think it's perfect. Second, I think the location is great in Downtown Berkley. Third, I think that the store is great on the corner with lots of little rooms to explore. The store has all kinds of gifts and items. There are a lot of things for kids with a whole room dedicated to them. This place has so many cool things you could spend all day. The women who were in the store were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend going here to look for that item for the hard-to-buy-for person this Christmas or anytime.

Very disappointed they would not sell me two Mr. Right mugs, as a gift for my gay friends that just got married. Will not be back.

This is a fabulous gift shop and we totally stumbled on it after visiting it's sister store Yellow Door which is about 3 doors West on 12 Mile.

Everything is handmade by artisans, solid wood, and full of character, not mass-produced furniture pretending to be special. The new owner spent nearly two hours helping me sort through options, explaining woods, finishes, and layout decisions. He has a degree in interior design, and it absolutely shows. That experience is why I ended up buying everything for my condo from him except the sofa and bed. They don't carry sofas and offer headboards only, but for dining, storage, tables, and statement pieces, this place is unmatched. Locally owned, sustainably made, and genuinely special.

He also reeked of cigarette smoke. Not at all what I'd expect from a store on the outskirts of Birmingham. They had actually had a lot of really cool stuff in there, but I would never give my money to a place that employs such a jerk! Good luck!

If you're looking for something unique, funny, fun, or more of a traditional purchase then this place is for you. We were able to purchase some very cool gifts for friends and family that were tailored to their personality. The shop's staff was very friendly and helpful when we needed them and they were also pretty available when we needed someone even though they were a bit busy. As for the prices I would put them on par for a place that sells the selection that this place has. You can find some items that are cheaper (not cheaply made), and other items that are pretty high (saw a pillow for around $300 ). I will definitely be putting this place on my list of shops to go for the next time I need to shop for friends and family!

They don't have to buy anything and so you better kiss their behinds. Even if they don't want anything they might feel bad for you because you were so nice. 2) The prices need to be low enough to justify buying something useless. 3) You have to gave good stuff that people want, though they don't need. Also, it helps to have things that one has never seen before and thus must purchase it because they may never see it again. Well, Scout is a nice enough store. The store sells kitch, curios and art. The inside is nice and bright. There are some interesting items, but nothing that I can't live without. Also, I've seen a lot of the same items around the area. The prices were probably comparable but were still pricey. I don't think there was anything for less than $10 or I didn't find it. I give Scout 3 stars because the lady behind the counter was not very friendly or helpful. When I walked into the store she didn't acknowledge me right away or ask if I needed anything. Instead she just talked to a friend for almost the whole 15 minutes we were in there. I was the first to say hello as I entered. Eventually, she engaged us in conversation a little, but it wasn't the friendliest of conversations. Scout had some unique gift ideas and art pieces. Over all the quality stuff was very expensive. The rest could probably be purchased at other stores of a similar nature. I don't really have a reason to go back here.

I grew up loving stationery stores and want to support the few remaining ones like Paper Source. Unfortunately, the prices at Paper Source are very high, from greeting cards to gift wrap and gift bags. Also, you can't always get the service that you want right away. Earlier this month, I arrived to Paper Source soon after it opened at 10:00 and requested gift wrapping service. I bought a gift for a birthday party and wanted it nicely wrapped. There were two sales associates there and neither was able to offer gift wrapping services. I was told to return at around 3:30 and a sales associate on duty may be able to gift wrap for me. Also, they usually need 24 hours advance notice for gift wrapping. When I returned in the afternoon a little before 3:30, I was told that the person might be in at 4:00. I looked at the prices of the boxes and gift bags and decided that none of the waiting was worth it to have to likely spend $30+ dollars on a box, gift wrapping, and a gift bag. I went to Dollar Tree on Maple Road in Troy where there is a large assortment of gift bags. I bought a clear cellophane bag for $1.25 to put the gift in before placing it in a sparkly Happy Birthday gift bag for another $1.25. Total price was $2.50 and I didn't have to wait hours to have to spend ten times more at Paper Source. It's unfortunate because Paper Source can't afford to lose more customers to places like Dollar Tree or Party City, but it will continue to happen because of the high prices and lack of quick services. The quality difference of boxes and gift bags between a high end store like Paper Source and Dollar Tree is negligible. I also prefer Hallmark to Paper Source because I get a lot of coupons from Hallmark, including a monthly free greeting card signing up for Crown Rewards.
