    Home bar merchandize
    Paul E.

Nice specialty shop located in downtown Royal Oak. Seems to have several main area's of focus for mens, women and children to include scented candles, incense and oils, large selection of personal hygiene items, home bar merchandize (my favorite area), tea's, small unique kids toy area, plants, puzzles, cards and the list goes on and on. It is a relatively small footprint shop that has a surprisingly large assortment of merchandize to include unique stuff you will not find anywhere else local. I probably spent 20 minutes walking around this small shop adding future Xmas/Bday gift idea's to my list for those guy's/gals in my family that are hard to shop for.

This is the perfect place when you want to find a gift that's unique! The staff is friendly and attentive. The store has so many wonderful items to check out. They also offered to wrap some presents.

You could wander around this little store for an hour and not see everything.. I circled three times and then decided I had spent enough money but promised myself I would come back soon. There is a gift in here for the impossible-to-buy-for person, or persons, in your life... I happened to be looking for Easter basket gifts that are NOT candy since she has grown out of that... An adventure book, a kitschy/retro keyring, a local candle gift.. there were so many options in here but this is where I landed (see pic)

Super cute shop for gift items. Reminds me of the miscellaneous homeware, books, gifts, and novelty items you might find at Urban Outfitters or Francesca's. I was shopping some of the stores on Washington Street after brunch at Lily's and stopped in Rail & Anchor. Lots of funny/cute books, candles with Lady GaGa and the Golden Girls on them, coffee mugs, barware, essential oils, shaving accessories, tea, unique artist made jewelry and succulents. The staff was warm and friendly and offered samples of hot tea when I came in. Everything was adorable but a little over priced.

I walked in and they had me at Hello! The only way I can describe this place is whimsical! I has been a while since a store has made me want to explore every inch. It is full of wonderful odds and ends. A perfect place to go when you need a gift, but have no idea what you actually looking for. There is something there to satisfy all of your senses. Like candles? incense? aromatherapy? They have it? Need assistance to add to an adult beverage? Yup, that too. Are you a plant person? Need a cool card? Cheeky gifts? Ok, you get it. They have a lot of cool stuff and you should go. The staff was very helpful. Parking wasn't bad, considering the area. It's accessible. What more do you want in a quaint little shop?!

Fun shop to browse or find that eclectic and unique gift for friends and family. I could easily spend an hour browsing at every item here. It's across the board. There's books for every interests. Incense, shaving, recipes, soaps, home decor, greeting cards, candles, jewelry and anything else you could imagine or want.

This store is an adorable addition to walking & shopping in downtown Royal Oak. This is a great place to shop for small gifts, but some can be expensive. Lots of locally produced items. Check out all their candles, beard grooming products, perfumes and other unique personal care items. The store is easy to walk through- we were offered a free small cup of cold tea as we perused :) Super friendly and attentive staff who have the perfect balance of wanting to help but also letting you pick anything up and checking it out yourself.

    I love their curated jewelry!

Whoever started this store is a genius! Wooden ornaments of Tupac, curated jewelry from artisans in Michigan, and an array of unique trinkets that are cute, brash, and blunt?! Count me in! This gem is a must visit if you're in the area. It has the sensibility of an anthropology with its array of home goods and Jewelry just subtract the clothes and add a bit more edge. So it's like Anthros hotter younger sister who's your born and raised Michigander girl next door who drinks whiskey and reads tarot cards all while listening to Notorious B.I.G. The interiors are eclectic and fun while the merchandise is thoughtfully staged. I can spend hours getting lost in this store because there's always something to discover, and I can NEVER leave without buying something! A definite one stop shop if you're looking to purchase a unique gift. And if you get lost in the shuffle, don't worry everyone who works there is the sweetest and are knowledgeable about their inventory! They also offer free wrapping on anything you purchase that's a gift which takes the hassle out of doing it yourself! Such a time saver especially during the holidays! Stop in if you know that's good for you!

This is such a great store and it's right downtown. I've been coming to Royal Oak for more than 10 years and recently moved here - Rail & Anchor has filled a gap that the downtown area had in terms of a one-stop trinkety gift store. They have books, art, oddities and cool greeting cards. Truly something for any budget! I come here when I want to get someone a special gift, and I'm never disappointed. Oh, they also always serve you free little cups of unique teas as you shop around!

This is a gift store which had fancy candles and fun little things to tempt you to buy, little notebooks and books and knickknacks.

I had shopped at a restaurant supply in Texas but had yet to find one in the area. Gold Star is open to the public and filled with a very diverse collection of items to purchase. If you've never checked out one of these shops, let me give you an idea of what they have. There are a lot of industrial grade items you probably would never buy for your home kitchen. But they have quality food prep supplies, baking supplies (including pastry/frosting bags/tips), storage containers, servingware, cookware, utensils, barware, bulk glassware in the back (a good brand, too!)... Odds are if it's related to cooking, they have it. If you're not sure... Just call. Some of it will be exactly like you've seen eating out, like little syrup dispensers. But some of it you've never seen before... Or you've seen something similar but higher end at your usual kitchen stores. It might not be as fancy, but these items will get the job done at a reasonable price. I used to help run a couple retail kitchen shops (like a Sur la Table but local) in my home town. Let me give you some items that I saw that I would suggest you purchase here. -A large cutting board. They have some thick boards. I have the same brand they carry and it has lasted me 15 years -Cutlery! Not every knife you own needs to be from Wustof. They carried some Victornox which are excellent knives. Again, mine have lasted 15 years. They had another brand for the larger knives... If they're what chefs want and use, I'm sure they're quality -A good, cheap 12" nonstick fry pan. This is actually a Chef Loren tip that I agree with. Fry pans by their nature are somewhat disposable. Just buy a cheap one. The pans they had were totally fine for home use -Storage containers in many sizes. These are a hard plastic with good lids. The hard plastic makes it so they don't absorb color or odors. Great for marinading/brining meat -Giant metal mixing bowls! Easy to use and clean, stores on top of your fridge -Odds and ends utensils. I bought some demitasse spoons (read: baby spoons) for desserts and to serve with coffee and tea It's worth going once just to see what you might need. Give them a shot before heading to your big box kitchen store. The people at the counter were nice! They're local and probably have something you need.

It had the original cabinets from the 1970s. The shelves weren't even, and there was barely any counter space to work with. We called another competitor first, and they quoted us that the bare minimum of what we were asking for would be over $45,000, which was more than twice our budget. When we met Bill, he wasn't pushy or salesy. We told him our budget and what we were looking for, and he was able to meet every expectation. It took about 8 weeks for our cabinets to come in/be made. Immediately after that, Joe and the crew came and completed our kitchen renovation within 2 weeks. My partner and I work from home, and the renovation did not disturb our workflow at all.
