They don't carry sofas and offer headboards only, but for dining, storage, tables, and statement pieces, this place is unmatched. Locally owned, sustainably made, and genuinely special.

Please see below After months of LIES, DECEIT & broken promises of delivery for furniture that I PAID for I finally received a resolution thanks to Cree from the Royal Oak location of the House of Detroit. I placed my original order at The house of Detroit Dearborn location which Sylvia runs. I was supposed to receive my delivery on 2/5 but no one called to schedule a delivery time. I called on 2/6 but no one answered, I finally was able to reach someone in the store who informed me that due to the weather there was a delay with the pick up from their warehouse & someone would call me the next day to schedule the delivery the time. Well no one called, no one answered the phone or was at the location. For weeks I reached out by phone, messenger, email and visited the location but didn't get anywhere, the store had a hand written note on the door to reach out to them by email but those emails were never answered. The neighboring business told me that other other customers had stopped in to see if anyone had been to the store because they also paid for furniture & was being ghosted by the owner.. Finally after not getting a single response I was connected with Cree who contacted Sylvia directly regarding my order. I was informed by Sylvia that my order would be delivered the following week. Of course it never happened she never answered her phone again but did relay messages through Cree stating 2 more delivery dates but that was just another lie.. I'm extremely grateful to Cree for ALWAYS being patient & professional with me even though my transaction was not with her or her location. Her hands were tied she was just the middle man! Cree answered every call & text in an attempt to get the original transaction resolved. It was because of her that I finally got this resolved and was able to purchase my items from her location. My items arrived earlier than expected with not one issue at all. I feel bad that she's had to deal with clients from the other location who's orders were not fulfilled or could not reach the owner but am grateful for her for going above & beyond, her good customer service, compassion & professionalism in getting this resolved for me.. After 20 minutes in the store, I started looking for my friend and asked sales staff if they had seen her. It was a cold windy day when nose rings girl told my friend to walk down the block. Orangey haired sales person and Rachel then double teamed me. One of them said, "This is why we don't let people use the bathroom. They always leave a puddle on the floor. It's mot my job to clean up their messes. CLEAN UP HER MESS!" I tried to explain that she wasn't my relative. They knew nothing about me and my relationship to my friend. I tried to explain but they kept ORDERING ME to clean up her mess. They said they were picking out used slacks for her so I went out to the pants rack to pick out a pair and told them so. There waa one if them picking out a pair so long my friend who is tiny woukd have tripped and falken them. I said, "These pants are too long, let me pick a pair" but she bizarrely replied, "We don't hem pants " I replied, "Hemming? This is a used clothing store and so I wouldn't assume you do tailoring!" She wouldn't let me pick out pants so I said, "I will pay for them." She still wouldn't let me pick them out and would not acquiesce to my request. So we both arrive in the bathroom area where the other one was loudly saying to my friend, who didn't need pants, "Your friend isn't happy with me" repeatedly, bad mouthing me to her. I interjected, "How dare you speak for me!" but this didn't stop her monologue about me. Nor was I going to clean up their bathroom. Unbelievable. If this was their "protocol" how many other people had they bullied and treated in a nasty, dehumanizing way? I had enough and said to my friend; "Let's go! I have been a customer for over 30 years and I'm never coming back." Punchline: my friend had been wearing Depends and didn't mess up their bathroom. Also my friend and I are Jewish and it felt like employees committed an antisemitic hate crime against me.
