The bright blue 1950's truck painted on the front windows and the vintage exterior lights and brick facade give you ample warning that you are onto something special even before you step in the door. It's easy to see why this cute, well-stocked shop was voted best new business of 2021. Inside, there's stuff for kids, for grandma, grandpa, mom and dad, gardeners, wanna-be gardeners, folks who love the lake, who love things that smell good and who love red white and blue. All the wares are creatively displayed. So much fun to browse. Great place to shop and get inspiration.

In all fairness, their posts on another site warned we might have to take an alternate route, but my friend and I still managed to drive in circles a bit before finally finding the huge sign out front! But, that's ok-Trenton is a cute little town so we enjoyed the unintentional exploring. We expected the store footprint to be a little larger, but there were still plenty of things to look at and choose from. Metalwork dominates. There was a flock of hot pink metal flamingos, huge multi-colored roosters and bright red cardinals on wire hangers and metal stakes. There were enormous sunflowers, wind chimes and rock sculptures. And lots more. The back room had some vintage items including a couple of ladders that would be great for hanging quilts. According to the very nice gentleman behind the counter, they are usually open spring - Christmas and the stock changes as they sell out and replace with new merchandise. Around the holidays it becomes a big gift shop. If you are in the area, it is worth a stop. My advice would be to pair it with lunch and a visit to some of the shops along W. Jefferson downtown and make a day of it. You won't get dirty at The Dirty Hoe, but neither will you have to work hard to have a good time. Overalls not required.

I bought the starter kit because although I am very wealthy (tongue firmly in cheek), I am that way because I start small and go big when needed (insert smiley face here). Thank you, Patti.

Poor quality, poor customer service. I bought a flower whirligig for 20 bucks that ripped after less than 4 weeks, employee offered me 4 dollars credit towards another purchase, manager hasn't returned call. If you're a man bun wearing hipster who plays the ball-string-cup game, feel free to block the sidewalk outside and mad-mug anyone trying to walk through with kids. They don't have to buy anything and so you better kiss their behinds. Even if they don't want anything they might feel bad for you because you were so nice. 2) The prices need to be low enough to justify buying something useless. 3) You have to gave good stuff that people want, though they don't need. Also, it helps to have things that one has never seen before and thus must purchase it because they may never see it again. Well, Scout is a nice enough store. The store sells kitch, curios and art. The inside is nice and bright. There are some interesting items, but nothing that I can't live without. Also, I've seen a lot of the same items around the area. The prices were probably comparable but were still pricey. I don't think there was anything for less than $10 or I didn't find it. I give Scout 3 stars because the lady behind the counter was not very friendly or helpful. When I walked into the store she didn't acknowledge me right away or ask if I needed anything. Instead she just talked to a friend for almost the whole 15 minutes we were in there. I was the first to say hello as I entered. Eventually, she engaged us in conversation a little, but it wasn't the friendliest of conversations. Scout had some unique gift ideas and art pieces. Over all the quality stuff was very expensive. The rest could probably be purchased at other stores of a similar nature. I don't really have a reason to go back here.

I don't want to feel like i'm bothering you to shop in your store. No thank you. In chain stores, people lose their jobs for this type of behaviour. So while my first visit's rating was a 5 star (for the available products and their quality), I have to drop down to 1 star for customer service.

Between all the soothing scents, beautiful items to look at, and all the wood and exposed brick. It's hits all of my favorite things. When you're into shops like this like I am you'll sometimes see some of the stock repeated from store to store. But at Stone and Spoon I rarely see things I've seen anywhere else. They have really great eye and amazing suppliers that keep things fresh. I appreciate that. Last time I was here I got a few houseplants, a wax sealer for mail, a few cookbooks, and some Gus & Grey passion fruit cocktail syrup.
