Had a late birthday dinner here and it was lovely from the get go! The receptionists were very pleasant, we got to move our reservation quickly and everyone was very accommodating. Our waiter was lovely and easy to talk to. Firecracker shrimp - bit too salty for me and "expected" flavor wise, I'd want to try their calamari next time Duck daily special with green beans - green beans soaked up such amazing flavor idk how they do it. Duck was crispy and fatty, sauce was great and the rice grew on me Dry aged salmon with miso noodles - salmon was cooked to perfection and entree was delicious but the noodles in sauce were a bit too salty/sweet, I'd prefer it a tad more subtle Bread and dip - dip was like a pesto garlicky dip which was good. Bread was a bit too soft for my liking. I like a crisp on the outside Overall fantastic place to dine at, the crew (both kitchen and staff) run a tight ship and the space felt warm, clean, and inviting!

Catch is unassuming from the outside, tucked into a tiny strip mall along bustling Market Street in Wilmington. Once you step inside, everything changes. The decor is welcoming and soothing, with colorful photographs showcasing the area. The Cape Fear Memorial Bridge has never looked so good. The menu is seafood forward, and highlights the abundance of fresh seafood available in the Cape Fear region. Be sure to take note of the daily specials menu, where the chef's creativity really shines. Service is top notch, attentive, friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Atmosphere is great, low lighting with sexy R&B playing on the speakers, loud enough to mask sounds from other tables but soft enough to hear your dining companions easily. My only nit is the dining chairs are quite hard and sitting for an extended time can get uncomfortable. One of the highlights were local oysters served with made-in-house sauces, including mignonette and cocktail, with a small bottle of Chef's own hot sauce. On the day I dined at Catch, the oysters were exceptionally briny, due to the lack of rain in the area, and the sauces seemed to have a little extra sweetness to balance their saltiness. It's little touches like that that make Catch a dining destination, perfect for celebrating a special occasion or just treating yourself. Other standout dishes were the pan roasted diver scallops and the seared ahi tuna, both daily menu specials. Catch also has a lovely cocktail list, and they make their drinks to order. It's well worth the wait for a properly mixed libation. Bottom line - Catch is a catch. I'll be back.

Review: Catch Restaurant 6623 Market Street. Chef Keith Rhodes So...I said "Self...let's start your, long-time-coming, experience at Catch on Market Street where our popular Executive Chef Keith Rhodes and his dedicated staff work their food magic, on Wednesday night when he has his Wagyu Beef cheeseburgers with fresh piping hot handocut fries on special for $15.00." Now...a typical night at this fabulous place is a 50.00 tab per person keeping it reasonable. And based on the menu on which I may have drizzled a bit of slobber while reading...it's well worth it. But my budget is a little less friendly as a rule... with room to splurge ever so often if I plan for it. But since you can't eat anywhere in Wilmington for less than 20.00 anymore... including fast food...I considered this deal a monster deal and have just been waiting to have a free Wednesday night to go try it out. Long appreciated and loved by locals and tourists alike. Catch is a destination for out-of-towners and boasts every reason for it. Receiving numerous awards and accolades over the years ...I'm a bit embarrassed as a foodie and former chef myself... that this was my first experience at Catch... not that the desire to catch up to it hasn't been on my mind for the same number of years. I didn't go alone. Accompanying me was a dear friend, also a foodie that was a guaranteed bite sharer ;) The atmosphere was clean, vibrant, cozy, romantic, welcoming and absolutely roomie enough to not feel like you are sitting at a group table sharing your private conversations as well a listening to every one else talk. It was just perfect. I had to stay focused as tempted a I was to try something else instead of a burger...but you know what? A chef can screw up a meat patty... and I needed to see it what he could do with such a delectable source of protein. Wagyu Beef that until now... I've never eaten. Don't get me wrong...My faith was so strong.. and I just wanted to know how he was going to take it over the top because I just knew he was going to. My companion ordered a simple fried shrimp plate with some uniquely presented sides ...sautéed collards and a sweet potato dish. The shrimp were enormous jumbos and bigger than I've ever witnessed on a fried shrimp plate. And there were at least a dozen I think. I didn't count but the serving size was more than I'd have been able to eat in one setting and it was the same for her. They tasted scrumptious! Nice light battering and a perfectly timed fry .... what can I say. You can screw up shrimp too.... and Catch just simply did not. Now...I expected an over the top burger at Catch... and size wize...it was comparable to any good burger place... nice and thick with a toasted bun I believed to be brioche... not sure... covered in a torched melted cheese with the baby awesome lettuce... not iceberg and a signature sauce that I couldn't identify... but the flavor was INCREDIBLE. A flavor beating out any I've ever eaten in a restaurant, this burger...I mean the meat just melted in my mouth..I can't describe it. I literally had to focus on it not sliding down my throat before I could taste it. I wanted to chew forever... but if I had this review might be a bit different. Juicy, hot, flavorful and tender... all the great componants of a burger. But a burger I will now crave. The fries were handcut, hot and came with a side of Truffle ketchup that was entirely consumed. And I'm not one to do anything but nibble on a few fries with a burger. Incredible union that Truffle and ketchup. I also ordered what was called a small Ceasars side salad ($5.00 with a meal).. that was anything but small... it came on a rectangular plate and let me tell you...I smelled the anchovies. Yum! No doubt a clearly traditional and authentic Ceasars salad. I could not eat it all.. but enjoyed every bite. My companion took advantage of the $5.00 Craft beer special as well and ordered a dark beer presented very nicely in a tall chilled glass. It was just top notch presentation all the way. The service was on point and very friendly and knowledgeable. She didn't stutter a bit when rambling off the nights specials and had an answer for every question without having to go check. Very helpful outside of her job as well, as she didn't hesitate to take our picture when asked. An enjoyable, well fed night in completion. I will be back with a bigger budget :) The only thing I regret is not getting a selfie with Chef Keith Rhodes. The place runs strong in his absence tho. He's proud and should be. Only reason is not a 5 star review is I have more eating to do ;)

My husband seemed to like the food, said it was very tasty. I thought it was just ok. For the money I would have rather gone elsewhere as it's very expensive. I think what turned me off the most is the decor. It a place that is supposed to be serving high end food and looks like a cheap diner. The service was great. I am only giving it 3 stars because of the ambiance which it lacked. So please go you may enjoy it, I just didn't. Honestly, I am not very picky, but I was just very unimpressed with the whole experience.

Made reservations here for my birthday dinner and they seated us immediately. I ordered the crispy skin salmon filet with a petite Caesar salad. My husband got shrimp & grits with a petite Caesar as well. This was the best Caesar salad I've ever had. I usually don't eat the skin on the salmon, but I couldn't get enough of it from my dish. The noodles also tasted so fresh. Our server told us that the chef changes the menu frequently and adds seasonal dishes so take advantage of something when you see it. Service was top tier from everyone. This is definitely a blink and you'll miss it restaurant, but do not skip! Perfect place for special occasions and really good seafood dishes.

Made dinner reservations 3 and 1/2 weeks in advance on opentable. Make sure to not cancel in less one day from the reservation, otherwise, there will be a charge. I liked the hand sanitizer pump stand and the individually wrapped sanitizer packets at the front door. It was nice our table was set up for us with the menus already on the table. We all ordered the brussel sprouts appetizer, tempura lobster tail, shrimp and grits, and bbq back ribs. Everyone enjoyed their meal. My friend enjoyed the sweet potato brulee that came with the bbq back ribs. It looked just like a creme brulee with a caramelized sugar crust. The brussel sprouts were great. We also got complimentary warm bread with pesto oil dip. Some things to improve could be the bread could have been a higher quality crusty bread and the shrimp in the shrimp and grits dish could have been tailless. It is easier to eat the shrimp and grits dish without the tail, but that could just be preference. My dish was the tempura lobster tail. The tempura was crispy and the lobster cream sauce was served on the tempura lobster itself. I really loved the mac and cheese (They used penne pasta)-It was just full of flavor and hit the spot. The steamed broccoli balanced out the richness of the lobster and mac and cheese. I forgot that I wrote in the comments of the reservation that we were celebrating birthdays. At the end of our meal they brought out complimentary honey bun cake slices with toasted chopped pecans, lit candles, and cute happy birthday signs. It was such a nice sweet surprise. The cake was good, but too sweet for my taste. I appreciated that they let us enjoy our time at the restaurant. We sat at our table for about 2 and 1/2 hours. Although, it was a pretty quiet Wednesday night. Our waitress was great, personable. Overall, we had a great experience!

The hubster knocked it completely out of the park with this reservation tonight! We drove up from Augusta and stopped on our way to Topsail North Carolina. Dinner was absolutely delicious. The staff was amazing and we had the entire restaurant to ourselves, since the weather wasn't the best tonight. Since we are out of towners, everyone gave us their recommendations on where to eat and what to do while in town. The lights are dimmed perfectly and the music is at a great volume to enjoy and still have a nice conversation. Their chef has been Mimi acted for 2023 Chef of Wilmington.

We arrived right after opening on a Friday night. Quant and romantic Also casual but nice. Friendly and accommodating service. Knowledgeable staff on all aspects. We had the swordfish off regular menu and the red grouper off nightly specials as well as the fire cracker shrimp which was all exquisitely prepared. I didn't eat my dessert yet but I'm sure the coconut layered dessert will be amazing.

    Grouper

Had been so looking forward to trying this restaurant and was incredibly pleased with everything from our greeting from the hostess, our wait staff to the delicious food and surroundings. We began with the heirloom tomato and burrata starter with pistachios, which was mouthwatering. We had the salmon and grouper as entrees and left nothing on our plates. Finished off with the coconut cake to take home and enjoy later. Would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely plan on revisiting often.

I loved everything I had here. I wish I would have come with some friends to try more of the items on the menu. Starting with the fried whole snapper-it was the most flavorful and moist fried red snapper I've tried anywhere. Usually fried seafood loses a lot of flavor but not here. It was perfectly paired with delicious fried sweet plantains and a coconut curry rice and beans side. The pickled vegetables on the side balanced everything out wonderfully! I also had the baked dirty south scallops-thanksgiving in a bite! I loved this southern take on the oyster Rockefeller-green beans, greens, bacon, cheese and a delicious spice mix. The drinks were also well crafted- I always appreciate the places where there's a large block of ice in the old fashioned. I was stuffed in the best kind of way but had to try dessert and I wasn't disappointed. The coconut cake was amazing! The restaurant is beautiful and the service stands out for their attentiveness. Reservations are highly recommended. I walked in on a Wednesday night at about 6:30 and they were booked for the night. They were kind enough to add a bar seat for me. Visiting downtown Wilmington just for the day and very glad I stopped here.

It's sort of Italian and sort of steak and sort of a little bit of everything. Really clean, strait forward , reasonable menu, nice ambience. It feels kind of high end but the pricing is definitely mid range. I selected the tomato basil soup as my appetizer. It came with a nice toasted crustini. It was a really good soup. It tasted fresh. It had a lot of body to it like, maybe they did the tomatoes here in the house from fresh. It was definitely tomato. The basil was kind in the background, but it was a true red sauce. It was almost tomato paste or tomato sauce flavor. I would've not complained if they given it to me over a bit of penne.. It had a really nice flavor on it not too sweet not too acidic really a very good soup. It came out in a footed coffee cup so you're getting about one cup of soup. The main course was the broiled seafood platter. It was anchored by a large piece of mahi-mahi, that was amazingly well prepared, firm and tasty. To the side of that was a wonderful crabcake, one of the best I've had anywhere and definitely the best in the Carolinas. It did not have too much breading and it had a wonderful texture with lots of good crab flavor. Drizzled across all of this were scallops and shrimp. The shrimp were a little overcooked if you asked me. The scallops were sweet and perfect and everything you would want them to be. The side that comes with this is their crab fries which essentially our beer battered french fries dusted with old bay seasoning. If you've ever had the crab fries at the Philadelphia, ballpark, this is the way they do it. For dessert, I ordered the lemon cello mascarpone cake. It comes drizzled with raspberry sauce. I had visions of lemon curd, and what I got was really good and really lemonade and good cake. But it's not a very big slice. I know about the weight staff. I don't know if they're all good, but mine was exceptional and lovely to talk with. The place was very busy. It had a nice vibe to it, it could've been in South Beach or Miami or Los Angeles, not that it was over over the top just that it was very clean and nice and well done. This is a professional restaurant not some amateur attempt. I recommend it.
