(I always hesitate to throw this into the mix but after reading some of the reviews below I may not be too off the mark with this)) . Came in ready to spend a pretty penny, spent at least 10 minutes slowly looking at all the displays and not once was greeted or asked if I needed any help, I may as well have been a ghost. PROS: 1) Their employees seem to be having a good time! I just love their designs. I have received nothing but the best customer service. I bought a wedding band from here during the pandemic, they custom made my size, a size that they didn't have in stock and rush shipped it to me so that it would get to me in time for the ceremony (this was back when everything related to shipping was delayed). When I had to get a small repair on the band a year later they resized and repaired it free of charge. I am definitely a loyal customer now. So I'm seeing all these reviews about the staff being "racist" and profiling their customers. I came directly here after admiring their jewelry from afar on Instagram. I here on a hot rainy day, in business attire as I showed up after work, and still the woman of color I am. They were moderately busy. I was immediately greeted as soon as someone made eye contact with me and was treated very pleasantly. Also the staff was super knowledgeable of their pieces; she knew exactly what pieces I was talking about with minimal description. I was allowed to try on everything and anything I asked to try on and no one "followed" me around the store. My first visit i ended up buying their sweet nothing bracelet for my mom and two Mother of pearl love tokens so my mom and i could match. She loved it! After such a positive experience, i decided to order the sweet nothing chain with two small personalized charms for in-store pickup. I went to pick up on a Saturday and expected to have to wait. I received an email informing me that I will have to wait another 2 weeks. This means that they are 1 week behind schedule. I wait another 2 weeks and no answer. I then wait another 5 days before messaging and calling. So now, I have been delayed twice for the repair!!! I just want my refund and be done with all of this. I live abroad and I have been trying to call. All I get is an answering machine. I tried using the chat function and all I get is an automated message. I just want to this nightmare to be over!!! Please just give me my refund! After 1.5 hours of continuously calling and being forwarded to voicemail, I finally got through. I was then told that I could only get a 15% refund... Only after strongly expressing my discontent and again, bringing up all of the records of the delays was I given a full refund. Catbird, you have really dropped the ball! My old review was for the Bedford Ave shop - idk how it ended up here, but it doesn't belong here since I'm here to echo all the other reviewers on how the old location/staff was much better than the quality now. After a decades long relationship, I'm breaking up with Catbird. They seem to have gone corporate in their staffing and policies. I recently bought the Evening Star bracelet - it's like a $600 bracelet - and I have a small wrist and ordered the 5"-6" but didn't like how there's an inch of bracelet that's wasted by the extender, making it look kinda...cheap. Since they sell extenders separately, it'd make more sense to have more bracelet and less extender but that's a separate matter. The real issue was that I went in to exchange it for a 6"-7" bracelet bc I'd rather have a jeweler reduce the size of the extender/chain to fit my wrist - to which the salesgirl responded that Catbird has a list of jewelers who do their repairs and could prob help, however if someone else did adjust it, Catbird can't do anything if something happens to it, which is COMPLETELY reasonable. I agreed 100% and then went home, which is when I got a better look at the bracelet. This new one I have is kinda dull and not as shiny as the other ones I've seen so I went in a couple days later to see if I could exchange it for another one and the manager who was working that day made me feel terrible. They didn't have another one in stock and she said something about not ordering another one bc if I wasn't happy with this one there was no guarantee I'd like the one they would order. She offered to clean it for me bc that might make a difference but I knew it wouldn't make a difference bc the diamonds are cloudy themselves. So I asked what other options there were and I even had to suggest myself that maybe I could stop in when to see if they had any others, but then she mentioned cleaning AGAIN. So that's pretty much where we left it off, me feeling bad about asking to even exchange it for a new one, her repeating not ordering a new one, me telling her I felt bad about even asking, her telling me again that it might make a difference if we cleaned it, and then me leaving with a $600 bracelet that I am less than thrilled about. So I think this is it Catbird. It was nice knowing you back then, but now you're just another notch in the jewelry belt. The expensive (for me) ($500+} earrings arrived just days after the order - which was great. The earrings, however, are EXTREMELY tiny and are in a "gift box" that one would get with a much cheaper purchase. Also in the package, randomly, were two halves of a plastic ball point pen (with no ink or insides), a one-page crossword puzzle and a card with some "sayings." I am not sure what to make of it all and will likely try to return the earrings. My partner gave me a 4$ heart ring from Kmart when he proposed which was SO amazing because it gave ME the choice in the ring I was going to wear for the rest of my life. I will give it one star since the sales representatives have always been helpful. however, today I stopped by to purchase earrings and upon being rung up I asked the rep if a $20 off code could be applied (which was given to me by Catbird after taking a survey for my "Zapped" experience). Well the "manager" Patricia denied it and gave no explanation. The email never detail how it could or couldn't be used. When I asked to speak to her to get clarification (mind u she's right behind the counter) she doesn't even look my way and only continues to speak to the sales rep. I called her unprofessional and asked for her name. To add insult to injury she tells me "it's gonna be okay." I said, "no it's not Patricia." This woman's whole demeanor was so unpleasant. I love rings and because I'm not rolling in dough, I'm usually looking for great jewelry on a budget. A while back I got sick of wearing fake rings that would tarnish or turn my skin green and I decided I'm too old for that, so Catbird has been a great shy intro to real gold rings. They're famous for their dainty rings that you can stack, wear on each finger, or wear as midis. I love my thumb and pinky rings and every time I go in I'm tempted to add another to my collection. For sure you can find these cheaper elsewhere, but it's not easy, and I know the quality is great here so it's worth a few bucks extra for a ring I wear literally every day from morning til night (and through the night and in the shower and while washing dishes). Plus, the ladies who work there are always so nice and helpful, and they allow you to bring the ring back within a few days if the fit isn't right and exchange for the right size, which is clutch because sometimes it's hard to know until you wear it for a while and do stuff with your hands! I have been a loyal catbird customer for years but I will never purchase anything from then again after my recent experience. I damaged my engagement ring accidentally, which I admit was my fault. I sent it in to their repairs department following the instructions laid out on their website. A diamond had fallen out of my ring when it was damaged. I was very careful when packing my repair to be shipped. The ring and diamond were secure in a small, ziploc sealed jewelry bag. I placed the bag inside of a ring box. I added packing paper for cushioning. I made sure to tape every edge of the box closed. I am certain that if they received an in tact box, nothing should have been missing. They claimed the diamond was not in the package. They claimed they could not repair the ring, but recommended a different jeweler that could. What professional jeweler is unable to repair their own jewelry? They did nothing to replace the diamond that they clearly lost in their own unpacking process, other than say "sorry we could not find it." That is UNACCEPTABLE. Catbird is a hugely popular company that could have easily made it right by replacing the missing stone and offering to make the repair even if it was at a cost. Now I have to seek out a new jeweler to make the repair and will have to replace the diamond at my own cost. Catbird has lost a customer and referral source with this experience. read more

Catbird doesn't include shipping info to track orders, their customer service number just says they aren't available and hangs up on you, their email service takes days to get a response, and the chat assistant responded with cryptic messages like "You must do whatever you think is best." This ring is supposedly 14k gold, however, after wearing it for a month it has turned my finger grayish/green. I have never had this problem with any of my other gold rings from other retailers. In addition to the discoloration of my skin, the ring was entirely too small for my finger. After discussing these issues with the catbird customer service team, they told me these issues were not possible and refused to let me return the ring. I am displeased with the ring, and the customer service- especially considering the price of the ring is $1,280 before tax and shipping. (The ring is also much smaller in person, and not worth $1,280.) Catbird has a nice aesthetic, and delicate designs. My boyfriend waits in line and I ask him to walk over to me to check out the jewelry. He goes back in line because he is so used to being treated this way that it does not even bother him anymore. THAT IS NOT RIGHT. The clerk asks me again after she finished ringing the customer up. She asks me "how can I help you" but this time her face is screwed up... just because I was looking around. And then more people walk in. But these people seem to get a pass from her because they're white or Asian. I tell her that I am there to pick up a locket and I'm already fuming at this point and I can't be bothered to send a smile her way. It's these micro aggressions that I have to face every single day. And today it was too much for me. I tried to keep the conversation short, I pay and I try to calm down and take a look at their inventory but I can't even pay attention to what's in front of me because I'm about to cry. I hope that someone from Catbird reads this. At this point I don't even know what to say. I don't feel coherent at this moment, I just feel immensely depressed and sad. Please just wait a little. Please look pass my skin color. Take a moment to let me browse as you have allowed other customers before chasing after me. Or maybe wait for your customers before they've walked into the store before you pounce on them, especially if you only do this to people of color. Okay, after reading reviews I was SUPER nervous to experience Catbird after being a longtime insta-stalker, I mean, follower. I *did* visit 5 years ago, but I really dont remember the experience as it was super crowded and I quickly bought a midi ring and left. ANYWAY this past experience I will not soon forget. I visited their store on black friday...BLACK. FRIDAY, yall! I have never been treated so kindly and so patiently. The very first woman that greeted me as I came in helped me try on rings and wasnt the slightest bit annoyed when I chose none of them. She then helped me pick out a locket and was nothing but SO kind and helpful throughout my indecisive process. Even as I flitted about the store picking up little treasures here and there she waited patiently as I stacked my pile on the counter. I was so happy to experience the beautiful, delicate and welcoming Catbird that I've grown to love on the 'gram. I was in a state of euphoria and blackout-inducing excitement to be there, so I'm totally blanking on the sales person's name, but she had short brown hair with a bit of curl, cute little barrettes in it, an angelic face and very sweet disposition. I stopped by Catbird's popup in LA at Reformation and the salespeople were extremely rude. I know it was insanely busy but they were barking orders at customers to ask us to move since we were "in the way" of the checkout. She literally said "you need to move so we can check people out here." No excuse me or please or anything. Their setup is a logistical nightmare as it had the checkout, welding station and their jewelry display on one table so it was impossible for more than 2 people to look at the jewelry display at a time. I'd take my business elsewhere. read more
