Excellent little gift shop in Greenpoint! Surprisingly broad but well curated selection of giftable items (also ideal for treating yourself). Plenty under $25 if you just need a little something to bring a smile to a friend or relatives face. Great options for all ages!

Today was their Grand Opening. A lot of people showed up. And bought stuff. So that was some successful advertising. They had a platter set up with veggies, cheese, etc and wine for everyone to try, and everyone who bought stuff got a really cool goodie bag. My goodie bag had a cool coffee cup keychain, a key shaped bottle opener, two pencils, two little fancy hand creams, a notepad, tags, etc. I bought a Queens hot sauce (from jalapenos grown in Queens), and two cute spreaders (see my photos). This is Lockwood's third location. And the first in Brooklyn. The other two are in Queens (Astoria and Jackson Heights). This new location is in Greenpoint. Conveniently located right on Greenpoint Avenue, steps from the Greenpoint Ave G train stop.

I had a wonderful experience taking an iced matcha class at Kettl on Monday! I signed up for the…read moreclass before I got to NY and was able to work it into my busy schedule of being a cool aunt. My brother and I walked around the Greenpoint area and then he had to go pick up his kiddo from camp, so I explored the area then put Kettl into google maps thinking I was coming early for class to avoid the rain. I accidentally went to the wrong location and then it started pouring. The staff told me the other location was 10 minutes away by foot, so I hauled myself to it in pouring rain. Luckily I wore workout clothes and tennis shoes that day, but my raincoat was water resistant, not waterproof, so I got pretty soaked. I still arrived a few minutes early, and the staff let me take some napkins to dry myself off. The class was at the bar in the back of this flagship location. It was set up for two, but I was the only person who showed. Jayanna led me through a very detailed class, provided handouts and a soba tea cookie along with water, and answered a ton of questions I had. As a daily matcha maker, I knew I had a lot to learn. She showed me how to care for the different tools used to make matcha. We made three preparations: sparkling matcha, shaken matcha, and matcha latte. We went through each with various steps and measurements. She demonstrated what to do and then I would make the drinks for both of us. It was a very fun experience and I learned a lot. I also got to shop after the class with a 15% discount, so I got myself a custom single cultivar matcha called okuju made exclusively for Kettl and especially for lattes, and then some individually wrapped fancy tea bags of matcha genmai and hojicha for Eric when he travels. The class had an hour and a half of instruction and I spent a half hour asking about products and shopping. It is a very nice space and I would love to try some of the unique drinks on the menu plus take more classes. If you love matcha and learning, I recommend taking a class here or at the LA location if you are on the west coast!

It is a very cozy-sized cafe but truly grateful for the quality matcha available here. I was able…read moreto enjoy all of our ordered matcha straight up given the high quality. You can also pick up a wide range of matchas from different regions and beautiful teaware as well. My only disappointment was the baked good - we got a slice of bread/cake and it was atrociously dry!! There were long lines while we were there but the staff managed the queues efficiently and the line moved fast. Worth it!

Prices were comparable to other shops but had a good variety of items (shirts, magnets, pins,etc.). The man working also gave us two stickers with our purchase and was kind. Definitely would recommend!

This souvenir shop was highly rated so I came here based on Yelp and Google reviews and honestly, I…read morewas kinda disappointed in the selection of clothing. It was the same stuff everyone else was selling, but like less variety. However, I can say their prices were a lot lower than other shops. For example, I bought a pair of pink I Love NY pajama pants for $19.99 in size small. It was the last one. I needed a medium but they didn't have one. I ended up getting it for myself and figured I'd find a size medium in another souvenir shop. Well, I did but the same pair of PJ pants was $29.99! So I can confirm the prices at this store is cheaper (at least for PJ pants). I also ended up getting a lighter for my brother in law last minute and all the lighters by the register were just meh. I bought a lame one anyways. And then just as we left the store, they had all these other cooler lighters in the window on display. Too bad none of those were actually out on the shelves.
