I asked the employee what the ring was made of and she explained to me it is brass and relatively cheap so I bought it because it was really cute. I realized after wearing it it was brass plated and the employee did not mention that at all and told me it would last and not tarnish if I kept it in good condition. It started to peel off after 2 or 3 months and now I have a ring that is peeling off and doesn't look too sightly. After one wash the "brass" changed color and so I placed translucent polish on it but it still peeled off. I'm guessing this brass plate is very low quality and not worth it. I give an extra stars for the other pretty pieces in the store but this particular one was not up to par for me. read more

I really didn't feel comfortable shopping here. They had beautiful jewelry, but the staff followed behind me, counting everything I touched, or even looked at. I didn't realize it before I paid, but I picked up an anklet and walked away to checkout, and the staff immediately alerted each other that something was "missing". They accused me of stealing while I was making my purchase. My husband told me what happened after I left the store. I tried to give the staff the benefit of the doubt, so I walked back inside and observed a woman looking at the same exact jewelry in the same exact place I had been standing. No one came behind her to recount. I was extremely disappointed and embarrassed that I spent my money in a place that so obviously has discriminatory practices. I returned the anklet not even 10 minutes after I initially bought it and was told by the same employee that accused me of stealing that I would only receive store credit. I wish I had called them out and fought to get my money back, but that's pretty outside of my nature. I left a review on Google after I left. I noticed an influx of new 5 star reviews that were posted right after mine, I think I recognized some of photos as people who work in the store. Dear Boys, This (Norbu) is where you should stop to buy jewelry if you are looking for a beautiful way to say "Happy Holidays" to any of the ladies in your life. Yes, your wife, fiance, girlfriend, lover, booty call, sister (ew, shouldn't be those that close together, sorry), mom, stepmom, aunt, grandmother...whomever, this is a store where you're going to bat a thousand. Hard to go wrong. They've got fine and delicate (the super thin gold bands are on my wish list, $80), they've got baubles, they've got dramatic flair, signature pieces, strands, earrings, any kind of jewelry you might imagine, finely curated down to only the best pieces. There's a wide range at a very doable price point. Many different local designers, all displayed in a quaint little shop on the main stretch. Love the jewelry in this place. If you are looking for dainty, delicate jewelry, then come here. Although most of the stuff is gold plated but it's not to expensive so you can always get a couple of pairs in case you lose one. The staff are really nice and friendly. The shop has lots of various styles for earrings, rings, necklaces that are classic and on trend. I purchased a small gold hoop here because I lost one and it was gold plated, $10. I wish I could give 10 stars. Let me explain... I was visiting New York a while back and made a day shopping and eating in Brooklyn. I stopped in Norbu because I love jewelry and always love to buy it when I'm on vacay (never wears out, always fits and will forever remind me of that trip). I picked out a delicate necklace and a pair of silver hoops. They have an amazing selection for every taste! I was in heaven!! My salesperson was patient and kind, not too pushy and extremely helpful. Now, I had been looking all over for a pair of simple hoops that WOULDN'T FALL OUT. I found the perfect pair. Long enough posts so I figured they wouldn't work their way out of my ears. Fast forward three days to my return to the Bay Area. Stoked to wear my new earrings to work. Upon showing my first customer my great new earrings, I discovered one was gone. I LITERALLY walked from my house to my car and from my car to my workplace! Grrrr! I emailed Norbu the situation. They emailed me back right away! After a few email exchanges, she (Sang sang) asked me to send her my lone earring so she could find the match. You guys, she could have dropped the ball here. She could have said, "sorry, no luck", a myriad of excuses. Today I received an email saying they were on their way! And I hesitate to say, but no charge! Now, don't go expecting her to do this for all of y'all's missing jewelry. I am most definitely a special case. I mean that in the kindest way. I HIGHLY recommend Norbu! The 3 female employees working there on a weekday night ignored customers. They didn't welcome me nor the other unrelated customers into the shop upon entering. While browsing cases throughout the store, an employee moved out of my way. She didn't ask if I needed any help or suggestions, she simply stepped to the side like I was in her way. I found this place a while back while jogging, I needed to get a gift for my friend and wasn't sure what to get her. I ran into this place and figured maybe a necklace or bracelet will be perfect. I believe i spent over an hour in the store, everything is so beautiful, the pieces are so intricate. They have everything from small chains, to long chains, to layered chains, bracelets, pins, earrings clips, etc. I got my friend the wish bracelet and every since then I get all my friends a wish bracelet and they love it. I couldn't resist going in, and so glad I did! They have a huge selection of (mostly delicate) jewelry; each display case is carefully packed full of some really beautiful pieces. I think they're loosely grouped based on certain stone/metal combinations and by designer. If you like jewelry, you could easily spend an hour or two browsing here. The girl who helped me was lovely and extremely patient as I tried on about 10 rings. I ended up purchasing one in the right size, but the stone was a different shape than I originally wanted. Horrible customer service. I walked into their empty store right before the holidays and was totally ignored by the two women at the register who were talking to each other. They continued to ignore me even after I asked them a question and received a terse reply. I had to practically beg them to help me. And the attitude, even then, was completely snooty--as if I were bothering them.
