I'm not one whose loyalties stray, but since moving from the Northshore area to Malden (is Malden still Northshore?) I got the feeling I would be hardpressed to find as good a pizza place as Plum Tomatoes or tastier wings than what Clucky's had before it closed down. Fast, Hot, and Fairly Priced! Catalina's is doing something right! I don't know how long this place has been around, but I sure wish I discovered them sooner (or maybe I don't since I hear they are now under new mgmt?)! We used to order religiously from Big A, but lately they've just been going down hill: an hour to get our cold food when we live a half mile away?! C'mon! Seemingly from the heavens, a Catalina's flyer was found on our front door one day. The hubby is reluctant to try new places, but I told him that I wasn't cooking that night so if he wanted to eat, he was getting Catalina's. I ordered a large cheese pizza and he got a steak & cheese. When the doorbell rang a mere 22 MINUTES later, we were sure it was our neighbors - the food couldn't possibly be here that quickly! I have been ordering salads from Catalina's Pizza for many years. Recently I decided to try a new salad and asked for it to be without lettuce and added a number of other vegetables. Someone called to confirm that I didn't want lettuce and offered alternatives. The next time I went in, I used a different app to order and wasn't able to add the other vegetables. Catalina's steps up your run of the mill pizza/sub order... incredibly fresh with unexpected little touches make the price well worth it. Chicken Caesar wrap with a slice of parmesan... Italian calzone with the most delightful dough... great sub rolls... oh, and they have shakes. Best part... quick and friendly delivery. Multiple orders to work and home have had consistently quick (30-35 minutes) with pleasant and courteous delivery drivers and hot food. Great value! No, really! $7 for a large 16" cheese pizza and $8.50 large one topping. Excellent prices and the taste is great, better than Pisa Pizza. We had a little gathering at the house and we ordered 5 cheese and 5 one topping ( pepperoni, mushrooms and other things), total with the taxes included: $82. $82 for 10 pizzas, half with toppings, plus taxes is unbeatable. We order from here at least 4x a month, or really whenever we need really fast delivery. They're usually here within 30 minutes of ordering, and their online ordering system couldn't be any easier to use! The food is your standard pizza place food, but is always hot and tastes really good. Their salads are pretty big. I love their thin pizza, any sub, all of their appetizers are good (especially zucchini stix) too. I'm a fan. The only thing we didn't like was their sweet potato fries that arrived soggy (but hot), but we easily crisped them up in the oven. My partner I have ordered here once, but it won't be our last time! First, I have to agree with the previous reviews, delivery was fast! At least 10 minutes before they were scheduled to arrive, probably more. I ordered the eggplant parm dinner, which came with lots of extra cheese as requested. It was too hot to eat when it got here - no complaints! My man had the grilled chicken plate, and he was a little disappointed that the chicken came cut up instead of one whole piece. He said the chicken was dry and not very hot, but still nicely flavored, the meals came with pasta, which was good. We also ordered Jalapeno poppers, and I suppose I expected that they would be the frozen kind, and they were... I wish just once something like that would be homemade. The biggest highlight of the evening was dessert! Getting dessert delivered to your door has to be one of the greatest joys of life! Good Pizza; Bad delivery: You know that DiGiorno commercial where the pizza delivery guy throws the pizza in the back of his car, and it goes flying all around? I always thought that was a bit overkill, until I ordered Pizza from Catalina's. Granted, the pizza is good, so I've ordered from them three times. Unfortunately, two out of the three times, my pizza looked like it had been on the DiGiorno commercial... with all of the cheese/sauce/toppings completely off to the side. I have had several enjoyable meals from Catalina's, but the atrocity I just received was ridiculous. I paid nearly $15 for seafood lasagna and what i received was ice cold lasagna noodles with a bland sauce and some of that frozen mixed seafood in the bag that tastes ridiculously fishy. The "marinara cream sauce" was nonexistent and I felt like I was on an episode of Candid Camera. There was no cheese, which I would have forgiven if the invisible cream sauce was actually on it. I ordered from Catalina's twice. The first time I ordered, I was pretty impressed. The pizza came quickly. It was pretty cheap. They had an online ordering system which tracked the order and told you when it was coming. The food was pretty good, but not great. (The pizza didn't have much sauce on it, and the boneless buffalo wings had no sauce on it.) Oh, and if you order sauces online it charges you for them, but the sauces do not appear on the final online order (and you don't get them). Since they charge $.60 for each extra sauce, that's pretty crappy. That said, the salad was awesome, the cheesy garlic bread was super cheap and delicious. Overall, it was cheap/fast/good enough for me to say "Yes, I will order from them again." So, why the two stars? I ordered from them a second time around. I used the online ordering system, paid with a credit card, and then I waited. I got a time estimate (30-40 minutes), and according to the online tracker, they were making my order. After an hour of waiting, I called the store. Over and over again. There was nobody there. It was during their normal business hours, and according to their website they were open. They had no voicemail, the phone just rang. Apparently, they were closed for the holiday. This morning, I checked my bank statement and I had a pending charge from Catalina's for the pizza order I placed last night. So, I called them. The person I spoke to handed the phone to someone else. I explained what happened and that I wanted to check about the charge. He said "I already took care of it." Okay, no, "I'm sorry that you waited for an hour." No, "I'm sorry that my pizza tracker misleads customers by saying that the order is being made when, hey, there's nobody at the restaurant." I let him know that I had just checked my bank statement and it was still there, so I had wanted to check. He was just like "Yeah, I called the company. It's taken care of." I'm all "You know your website said you were open last night. The tracker for your website said that the order was being made. You didn't even have voicemail on your business phone to let people know you were closed." He's all: "Well, it's not my fault. It's the company that does the website's fault. I called them and let them know we were closed, and they left us up as open. It's not my fault, but I'm sorry." Which, not going to lie, that "apology" really did nothing for me. I waited an hour for a pizza that never came. My credit card was charged. I got to call them this morning to take care of it. At the very least, THEY should have called me. They should have called ALL the people who ordered from them online last night and let them know: 1) that they were sorry for the inconvenience -- because ordering from a restaurant that says it is open and then waiting for the delivery that never comes is INCONVENIENT; 2) that they have made sure that any charges to their credit cards were refunded; and 3) that they have spoken to the company that runs their website and it will not happen again. Instead, they brushed me off and basically said "Yeah, I took care of that already, why are you calling?" I get that it's inconvenient to have to deal with a mistake like this, BUT even IF it's an outside company that takes care of the website, there's this saying "the buck stops here." It's YOUR restaurant and ultimately it is YOUR customer who is dissatisfied, YOU are the one who should deal with it. read more

I pretty much order here every day for lunch. The pizza is awesome (try the chicken broccoli alfredo) and they have a huge selection of interesting and delicious salads, wraps and sandwiches. They are polite and accomodating to special requests, and the food always arrives hot and within a reasonable time frame. Try the nuts & berry salad (add goat cheese), BLT club, avocado eggplant wrap, chicken fajita wrap, or chicken parm wrap (which was grilled and super delicious. And I'm Italian). There are tons of toppings for salads too, with lots of dressing choices. The food is seriously incredible and fresh. I've never had a bad meal. This is not the typical pizza joint and I highly recommend. read more

For the first time in a long time I can honestly say that I enjoyed the food that I had delivered to me! There wasn't anything that turned me off! It was all fresh and tasty! The Sweet potato fries were very limp from being in the styrofoam, but I put them in my small oven and they crisped right up, and were the best I ever had! The hummus was exactly like I have always made it and was so tasty! Two weeks ago I ordered it else-where, and it had nothing but the cece beans, and wad tasteless, so I threw it out! The only thing that I would change is that I would never order a wrap again because their too messy. Their delivery drivers keep a book of people that tip less than $3. Why would they keep that book? I think we all know why - to mess with your food, mess with your order and take their sweet ass time delivering it so your food comes cold. Tipping is *gratuity* not a requirement. Personally, I tip at least $3 every time (usually $1 per item) if the food gets there within a reasonable time, isn't cold and my order is complete. But recently we had an experience where I could only tip $2 because I didn't have any extra cash on me and I actually apologized to the driver and said I'd get him next time. Well he flips out on me and goes on a tirade which included telling me that the drivers keep this book of 'shitty tippers' and I was going into it. I called the owner who shrugged it off and said, "All I can do is talk to him" with absolutely no concern or urgency. Malden has over a dozen sub shops which are all really good (a lot better than Catalina's to be honest). From now on, I'll give my money to the ones that appreciate the business - both the drivers and the owners. 1 star because I can't give it 0. read more

Really much better recently than it was in the past, I believe new ownership. I got the chicken quesadilla and added onions/peppers it was delicious! My mom got the roasted veggie salad with shrimp and loved it! My husband and father tried the fried chicken dinner and felt that it was a bit over cooked. Oh my goodness! Why didn't I know about this place sooner??? I don't eat pizza that often, but when I did, I used to order it from Pisa Pizza in Malden. Forget Pisa now! From now on, I'm sticking with Catalina's! I only wish I knew about this place sooner! :D PIZZA: I'm a big fan of thin crust pizza, and all the vegetarian pizzas are just awesome - fresh, super tasty, and crusty! THE BEST thin crust pizzas I've tried in a long time! I don't know about their regular dough pizza since I never tried it. Thin crust pizza is awesome but try to not have left-over of this because they do dry up fairly quickly and once they do, they are not as good as when they're hot and toasty (of course!) SALAD: I've tried their roasted veggie salad which was incredibly tasty (seems like prepped fresh, seriously...). And it doesn't come with just itty bitty toppings of roasted veggies. Chunky portions of artichoke heart, mushroom, sun-dried tomato and asparagus! Definitely filling! I like this one so much that I have not tried any other salads yet. Perhaps soon in near future. :) Their salads come with pita bread. Their pita bread is freshly prepared. Normally I'm not a fan of pita bread, but theirs is just too yummy for me to pass on. Freshly baked, warm, and fluffy. APPETIZER: So far I only tried the cheese garlic bread (yum!!!), onion rings, and jalapeno poppers. Onion rings and jalapeno poppers are most definitely freshly prepared when you order them. I had them delivered, but oh they were sooo crunchy! Cheese garlic bread comes with marinara sauce, and it is by far my most favorite appetizer. I can make a meal out of this one! :) DELIVERY & COST: Super fast no fee delivery, and very economical! Their online ordering system is like the coolest and most convenient ever! You can customize your orders, and check the status your orders as well. being new to the area, I gave this place a try. ordered something online for a delivery. their website has a tracker which is pretty accurate so I'll give em that. but here comes the problem(s).. ordered a chicken broccoli alfredo pasta, fries, and a caesar wrap. the pasta tasted funny; the 'alfredo' sauce was chunky rather than smooth and creamy. the caesar wrap didn't have fresh lettuce. and the fries never came. I called them back and said I didn't receive my full order. the guy who picked up said he would send someone out right away but I never heard from them ever again... after reading these yelp reviews, I guess I'm not the only one who has had an incomplete delivery order. such a shame.. on to the next place, I guess. read more

I tried this place for delivery just because the menu was extensive. I have now had the pizza, calzones, subs, salads, and shakes. This is by far my favorite delivery place now. So many choices in every category, and the food always seems fresh and tastes great. Way more than I expected, given the track record of the other pizza places in Malden, and in five delivery orders, they've taken between 17 and 28 minutes to get here. Are you kidding me? I will absolutely never order from this place again. My boyfriend and I went here for lunch because he lives in the area. We took a little while to order because this place does have a great selection. We decided to order a steak and cheese on a wheat wrap with buffalo wings, sweet potato and regular fries (the boyfriend does not like sweet potatoe). When ordering the steak and cheese, the man asked what kind of cheese, and I told him the kind of cheese that comes on a steak and cheese which I'm assuming is American. He asked us what we wanted on it repeatedly and we said just mayo lettuce and half with ketchup. We decided to eat inside the place and not take it to go. He told us it would be 10 minutes (which it wasn't). And when they brought us the food the wings tasted like they were old. Finally they brought us the steak and cheese which was intact not a steak and cheese but rather a steak tip wrap which had like 4 pieces of steak, cold cheese and Chunky lettuce. We still decided to eat it because we were in a rush however the steak tasted over marinated with an adobo like seasoning. The fries were also okay. I asked the man if he carried shaved steak and cheese sandwiches and he said yes and I told him that's what we wanted. He said he must of gotten confused which I can see why because I know he had a thick accent however we were in a rush. I feel like he could've offered something else like a free pizza slice or drink or even my money back. As we were leaving the restaurant ( which is clean on the inside and well put together) my boyfriend overheard a phone conversation over another disappointed customer who complain that their delivery order was incorrect. Here are 2 main reason that Catalina's Pizza is better than every other pizza in Everett. (1) it tastes great (2) it shows up HOT !!
