I have driven past For Pizza a million times but we finally tried it after my boyfriend found it highly recommended on the gluten free app. My first experience was amazing! Outside of Detroit and Chicago, it was the best gluten free crust I've had (especially in Boston). The crust is much thicker than other gluten free crusts I've had and it has great taste and consistency. The dairy free cheese is also really really good. It also melts really well. It reminds me so much of real cheese, I always have to compare it with my boyfriend's pizza to make sure it is dairy free before i eat it. I only give it a 4 and not a 5 because of the kitchen inconsistency. The first pizza had me ready to come back the next week. I think i actually tried to order the following week, but the gluten free crust machine was broken. The second pizza below was from my follow up visit and it left me wanting so much more for the toppings. I also paid for extra cheese and it didn't taste like extra cheese was added or barely enough cheese for a standard order. The salads are also great, but again my first visit was much better than my second. My first visit was on the weekend and my second was a Monday, so if I try it again, I'll go on Saturday hoping I get the same cook who gave me toppings and a such a great pizza that they would get 5 stars from me every time. The pizza is good, but the wait times are ridiculous. There's been times where I'm literally the only customer in the restaurant with like 5 people working and I'm still waiting 30+ minutes for a single pizza. I also deliver for Uber Eats and i just decline orders coming through this restaurant now because i know they're going to have me waiting at least 20 minutes for them to finish the customer's order before i can deliver it. I don't know why they can't seem to figure out how to be more efficient but it's really a problem. read more

South shore style pizza in Medford Square that's pretty decent and has a good cause to donate to the community, but had some minor issues on expectations. Review is from 3/5/24, forgot to publish my draft. Came in around lunch because they said they served slices, but they had no slices available when I walked in. I was hungry so I got a whole pizza and they only had one size, and it was a bit pricier than I expected. Space was very clean, and service was friendly but selective. I ordered a half pepperoni half cheese, and based on the photos I saw online, I thought I was getting cuppy pepperoni. Turns out they ran out, which I learned when someone called in and the manager explained they were out of their normal pepperoni, but had a substitute, which is what I ended up with- not sure why this wasn't explained to me. The pizza itself was pretty good, I liked the sauce but found the dough a bit cardboardy and it was pretty greasy. Glad I tried it but probably won't return. read more

I went here with my family for the first time on Sunday. We were excited to try the plant based and vegan options. We ordered and waited and waited with 2 hungry kids. After 30m (I actually timed it) I started to inquire about an ETA. Around the 45m mark we got 3 of the 4 we ordered. I continued to wait and then after 1 hour of waiting (yes, I timed it) I wanted to know what was going on. They looked for the pizza and found that it was sitting on a table in behind the counter. I tried a bite and it was cold. I asked for it be well done to add insult to injury. I asked them if they can warm it up and stick it in the oven. They took it... and then after about 10 to 15m I asked if it was ready. They gave it back to me still cold. I think they forgot to warm it up. I took the pizza home and warmed it up myself. It was busy. But that's not an excuse for this poor service. And not even any acknowledgement of the multiple screw ups. On top of that me and my 2 sons had stomach issues starting that evening. I can't say for certain it was due to the pizza. However, the only other thing I had that day was the same protein smoothie I have daily... so I suspect it was. The pizza was pretty good but doesn't make up for the horrible service and likelihood we got sick from the pizza. read more

Really happy I discovered this spot. My favorite local places are Leones in Somerville, Prep Neighborhood Kitchen in Arlington and this place did exactly what I wanted in takeout. We like to be there for when the pizza gets right out of the oven as we have a little drive home but want it as warm as possible. We ordered the Detroit x For Pizza. The sauce was so yummy I almost want a side of it with the pizza. The ingredients were high end you could tell. From the pepperoni to the confetti of basil it was a nice touch. Thin but not floppy and crispy cheese on the ends. Yum! Their menu had many different options all that looked good so now I want to try others on the menu. I love they also have 3 salads on the menu too. We gotta have some veggies with our pizza. Happy to add this restaurant to my takeout rotation and this pizza spot did not disappoint. I live in the south shore and Bar style pizza is the go to style so when I saw For Pizza had it in Medford I had to try. Everything about my experience was awesome. Ordered online, pickup was seamless, and the owner was very personable. For the pie it was very good. I gave the hot honey pepperoni an 8.4 and the cheese and 8.0. Both pizzas I would drive out of my way for. They were thin, nice and light but had a great bar style crispy crust around the edges. They are priced a little higher than the average bar pie, maybe that's because of the proximity to the city but definitely worth it. I would 100% recommend! read more

My partner and I decided on a whim to check out For Pizza yesterday (7/4/24.) She is a big fan of bar pizza, and we were excited to see if For Pizza lived up to the South Shore reputation while being north of Boston. CliffNotes version: Yup! We walked in and Aaron immediately welcomed us warmly, relaxedly. (Speaking of warm, it was another super muggy, hot day in greater Boston. It was very warm in the store, and it's a testament to the staff that they all seemed to be in good moods.) The menu of specialty pizzas is pretty impressive, and of course, there's a build-your-own option, including for plant-based diets. Because leftover pizza can be a good thing, we decided to do two pies. Beth chose the "Honey Roni" (pepperoni with hot honey). I asked Aaron to choose for me between the "Bocca Calda" (Italian sausage, fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers, jalapenos, garlic) and the "Mustang" (pepperoni, hamburger, and a house hot chili oil). He declared it worthy of doing a half & half. (They do this regularly, but it was fun to pretend we birthed something new. lol.) And because I'm a sucker, I also decided to order their Garlic Cheesy Breadsticks. The pies would take about 20 minutes, so we took a wander around Medford Square. Coming back, we observed the same welcoming behavior towards everyone who came in - delivery person, family, or whomever. Again, impressive in the heat. We took our pies home and jumped in. Everything was cooked perfectly. The pies have that crispy cheese lace at the edges as one should expect from a bar pizza. thee crust was delicious as were the toppings. My only small complaint was that there could have been more dipping sauce for the breadsticks, but then again, I didn't expect to be getting essentially a 3rd pizza for an appetizer! We will definitely go back. There aren't a lot of bar pizza joints in the Somerville/Medford area. Not with the variety of options are For Pizza. When the weather cools down, I'd be happy to eat inside the restaurant because the vibe was right. As a pizza fan, For Pizza is a win. read more
