Ok let me start by saying Im reviewing this based on delivery and during a snow storm... (the reason for the 3 stars) I envision eating IN HOUSE would improve my score CONSIDERABLY... We were tired of being stuck in the house and tired of crappy delivery & wanted "real" food - not pizza shop food and decided despite how shytty all the delivery places have been with their practices of allowing the drivers to make multiple stops (great for the drivers - but lessens quality of food when they are making so many stops and yours is cold when you receive), I digress... we wanted real food we decided to take a chance. Mom asked for Clams Casino and who the hell even has them yet will deliver them - and sure enough we found this place - Had never heard of it before this night. Now I cant go anywhere without ordering a little bit of everything for reference, then I take 2 bites am full and then leave in the fridge for a week & then throw away, I know - not a great practice, Its just how I get down... In addition to the Clams they actually had an artichoke on the menu, you dont find them in too many places so we stocked up on all the things. OMG to start all the food was still hot, not even just warm, but hot... Portions are the Biggest, but I mean we had more than enough food. The Clams were good, Great actually, the artichoke - can you see the size of it - INSANE!!! The stuffed mushrooms were tasty but like tiny, so I could take them or leave them. next time... But tasty! THe Pizza wasnt the hottest actually and I think if it was like a tad bit warmer it would have been a 9.4 (Go Prez), but even less than hot it was GOOOOOD!!!! The pasta was good, the chicken was so flavorful and Broccoli Rabe is like my jam, and the fact that I could swap out the pasta type & broccoli type literally had me quite excited... My favorite local spot for Italian! Total classic medford hang. Homemade pasta, staff is flexible about customizing, old school space (sit by the rat pack figurines), tempting dessert case... Word to the wise: maybe don't stray from beer and wine; the "negroni" my boyfriend ordered once was a glass of whisky. The new owners with same recipes and great quality food have brought new energy to the place. Went a couple times this winter and it did not disappoint. As a matter of fact I liked it a lot. The place is an older restaurant but it was spotless. Very clean and comfortable. The veal cutlet I had were great. Enjoyed the fusilli and the red gravy/sauce. Pizza was a ten. I enjoyed my visit here with some friends to enjoy some great Italian food after a visit to Tufts! We were pleased with the beautiful restaurant with great natural lighting. I will say that the bathroom had no soap or paper towels. Overall I didn't get a very organized vibe from the restaurant -- when asked, the waitress did not know a lot of details about the menu. The menu was also really disorganized and extremely long which made it hard to decide what to get. I did enjoy the chicken marsala that I ordered and we shared some excellent calamari and pizza together. The calamari was huge and crispy and fresh!! The pizza was excellent as well and very crispy. My friend ordered some asparagus but they accidentally gave us a prosciutto wrapped asparagus. Redoing the order took forever. Overall I was not too upset about this but it definitely seemed like the restaurant was less than organized. Not sure if we caught it on an off day or if they are usually like this. read more

We had a great meal at Bocelli's on a busy Saturday night. We had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated, which is understandable on a Saturday night at such a busy place. When seated, we had great service and the food was like I remember, fantastic! We started out with drinks and some bread! The bread is always fresh and plentiful. From there, we ordered our main dishes. I had the pizza and my wife ordered pasta fagioli soup. The timing between ordering and the food arriving was great. Again, we noticed it was a busy night so we were pleasantly surprised at how well things went. My pizza was great! My wife was thrilled with the soup. Great temperature and plenty of soup! Our server had our table and the 3 around us. She was available and right on top of whatever we wanted. Bocelli's remains a "throwback" type of place to me. I remember coming here in college and with my friends over the span of many summers. I am a fan, for sure! Price was fair Service was great Parking was easy. I have been a loyal patron of Bocelli for many years, going back to when Nick was the owner. Under his management, the restaurant was organized, welcoming, and well-staffed. The food was consistently delicious and full of flavor, and the ambiance felt like stepping into Nonna's house--warm, rustic, and authentic. Service was always delivered with a smile, and my favorite dish, the Mussels and Calamari Fra Diavolo, used to be $25--a fair price for such quality. Since the new owners took over, however, the restaurant has lost its direction. The staff are often rude, the food has declined significantly, and the once-charming ambiance now feels forgettable. Shockingly, my usual dish now costs $35.95--a price that simply does not reflect the quality or experience. Bocelli has become a "hole in the wall" with inflated prices. For comparison, Turner's Seafood in Melrose offers nearly the same menu, including the Mussels and Calamari Fra Diavolo, for just $25--and theirs is far superior. At this price point, the meal is not worth it. I cannot recommend Bocelli in its current state and will not return unless prices are reduced and quality restored. The restaurant has clearly lost many loyal customers, and it's easy to see why business is struggling. read more

Went to Boccelli's recently on the way to a Celtics game. I haven't been here for years and I mean years, but I used to love it. It was lunchtime so we decided to get lighter fare than dinners. Our waitress brought over waters and we ordered our beverages. Two of us got two different Sangrias. Both were Ok but lacked flavor. They just tasted like wine. Only fruit in them was bar cherries. She also brought a basket of really delicious bread, butter, oil and olives. The bread was crusty on the outside with sesame seeds and moist and soft on the inside. We ordered right away as we pressed for time. Two ordered soups, Chicken Noodle and Escarole, and one ordered the Caesar salad. The waitress said the Escarole would take 5 minutes that they had to make it. I think they have all ingredients separate and then thrown together when ordered. The soup was good but tasted like they just threw it together. All I tasted was the salty broth. The one eating the salad said it might have been a little over dressed with salad dressing. Two decided to split a large pizza, and the other two got two different calzones. One cheese and one had meat in it. The pizza is the thin style and was very good. Just the way I like it. They also have thick pizza. The calzones were very good also. I didn't get a chance to take pics of the calzones because they ate then so fast. My grandson did take a picture of his plain pasta though! All in all, it was a great lunch! read more

Looking at Italian restaurants in the area after recently moving and chose to give it a try. Seated very quickly and loved the attitude the staff gave to the rude Doordashers. IMMEDIATELY felt comfortable. The bread was fantastic. Salads (Caesar) were amazing and well dressed. Started with Meatballs and ricotta and was so impressed. The drinks were amazing (Red Sangria and Lemon Drop martini). I had the chicken and veal parm special. Boyfriend had the pappardelle with scallops and shrimp fra diavolo. Fantastic portions. This is a local place through and through and that is what makes it so special. The first time u walking here kids were running around as our server came up trying bribe them with dessert. I love the feeling of places like that. Service is kind but gruff in again the best kind of local way. Menu is extensive in their offerings. You will definitely be able to find something for everyone. It's small at the top but has a big room downstairs. The pasta I had was alright but dessert was to die for! went here for Valentine's Day last night , we had a 7:30 reservation had to wait outside in the cold for a girl to find us with an iPad to check in no host stand . we finally got seated at 8:00 ordered a drink after waiting about 15 minutes for our waitress to come over , ordered an appetizer with our drinks drinks came after about 15 minutes . our appetizer took an hour to get to the table we ordered our dinner and after asking how much longer it would be for our entree to arrive she says the kitchen is behind and excuses just kept coming. so needless to say we ended up asking for our check after waiting almost 3 hours from the time we sat down to not getting our food at all so we left starving and had to go find some place else to eat the last minute on Valentine's Day! The owners and managers of this place should be ashamed of themselves for being greedy and over booking on the busiest night of the year , knowing that their kitchen was not able to handle the volume of the restaurant!! ruining couples nights!! our waitress even said they over booked the restaurant last year as well ! we won't be back! read more

Just had a dinner there tonight. The food tasted great but it was not kids friendly. My daughter saw the killing scenes on the TV. Someone used a knife to slash another person and there was blood all over. My daughter got really scared and upset. We asked the waitress to change the channel. They changed it. It was okay for a while, then there was a scene where people were having sex. Luckily this time my daughter was playing my smart phone so she didn't see it. Although the food tasted great, my daughter came home crying and said she's really scared from the violence scenes. It was just very upsetting for a kid. The service was super slow when the restaurant was not full. We had to sit there and waited for an hour to get our main course. It really delayed the kids' sleep time. Bocelli's food is excellent! We started going a few months ago and keep going back because everything is so delicious, made from scratch with quality ingredients and is reasonably priced. Our food allergies and preferences are honored without problem. Also, the staff is very friendly and attentive. Some of the phenomenal dishes we have eaten include the escarole soup with mini meatballs, chicken soup with noodles, fettuccini alfredo with chicken added, chicken marsala, chicken saltimboca, veal saltimboca, shrimp parmesan, tortelline and shrimp with pesto sauce (we have also had it with chicken). We always get a side of meatballs and sausage to go with the scrumptious bread they put on the table. I'm really looking forward to trying more dishes on their menu! read more

I've been here four times since the new owner bought it, and each time i've heard her screaming and berating her employees from the kitchen , I confronted my server and was told that it's a regular thing. I would like to be able to enjoy my meal without hearing constant screaming and arguing. I used to really like this place, but the new owner ruined it. Everyone who works here seems miserable , the food is mediocre and the bad vibes makes it taste even worse . The owner clearly does not know how to run a business or treat her employees. Since our memorable dinner's back in 2018, we have been dying to eat here again and so husband and I finally made our way there last night. We got a table right away as we got there just before 6 and being a weekday, it was not too busy. The tables are socially distanced and we felt comfortable when we first sat, although after spending 1.5 hours that seemed to never end, I can say that I am not sure if and when I will return. First off, the service was slow, I mean SUPER SLOW. The server was way too busy chatting with some patrons (that could have been friends/regular patrons), forgot to put in one of the main dishes (btw we only ordered 2 main dishes, no appetizers, so it was a very simple order). And so imagine sitting at the table and waiting for over 45 minutes between the only 2 dishes we ordered was quite a patience tester. The Eggplant Parm is one of their best dishes and I highly recommend it. The tiramisu is to die for and is so light that it just melts in your mouth. Chocolate Torte on the other hand was one of the most unpleasant dessert I have had in a very long time. It felt like the cake was sitting in the fridge for over a week, it was gummy, dry and both of us could not eat it beyond 1 bite. But what made us really uncomfortable was that she would not wear her mask most of the time. She was talking to other patrons without her mask and removed her mask anytime she was behind the bar counter. Not only her, another older gentleman who could have been the owner, did not wear the mask for even 1 second in the entire 1.5 hours we were there. He did have the mask hanging from one ear, but not sure how that would have been of any help? Now I know in these challenging pandemic times, we all need to come together as a community and support the restaurants and other local business. But I believe that it is also the restaurant's responsibility to be mindful of the rules and regulations that have been set in place to keep not only the diners but also the employees safe. In my opinion and based on my experiences in the past year of dining/takeout at various restaurants, Bocelli's has failed to not only give a good service, but to also have been absolutely irresponsible in the way they have been conducting their business amidst an ongoing pandemic. read more

Felt like I was in a true Italians home - the interior is a bit outdated but has a dessert case when you first walk in, a bar, booth tables and then a side room with more seating. They have functions in the basement. Our waitress was very busy, but so nice to us and I felt like our service was exceptional timing. Old fashion wasn't too strong/a small portion, Marinara sauce delicious and a really good pizza. The parking situation is a bit hard around here, no parking lot. Some spots across the street but on a Friday night was full. Tried driving down side streets and a lot was permit parking. So that makes it a bit challenging. read more

Terrible meal and experience at Bocellis Friday evening April 4,2025. My husband and I frequently ate here and the new ownership and chefs aren't making the marks at all. I ordered a chicken cutlet with risotto and pesto sauce. I received a refried chicken parm cutlet with red sauce fried onto the cutlet along with a small amount pesto drizzled onto.One bite and ai had to return the dish, terrible! Thirty minutes our young male waiter returned with the correct dish and ai ate alone as my husband finished his meal. My husband normally says nothing more but he was very upset such a simple meal was improperly prepared and told the waiter "why couldn't this be done the first time!". The waiter offered a complimentary desert we already planned on having a Spumoni Bomb of course they were out. I get busy nights but no water refills, long wait for dinner, order incorrect, lousy food. We had a huge family party back in December and food and staff were amazing . They were all the old owners staff, was considering another large function this Summer for a 90th birthday unfortunately this is no longer the welcoming delicious family dinner restaurant we once loved. First, let me tell you about the pizza. It is the very best pizza in the area, and that's saying a lot, because there are a boatload of pizza places in Medford. It's a nice thin crust with just the right amount of toppings. I usually get the cheese pizza. But when I'm feeling adventurous, I'll get the spinach, garlic, and anchovy pizza. Don't be afraid of the anchovies. I don't know what they do with it, but they cook it in such a way that there is a perfect hint of anchovy flavor. This evening, along with the pizza, I had the chicken and some fish. Both were excellent. The chicken was nice and moist, and the fish was cooked perfectly. If I could give it 0 I absolutely would. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry my entire life this place was an absolute disaster on what could have been its busiest night. it starts with my husband and i coming in for our 7:45 reservation, parking was tough tried calling 3x around 7:40 and the phone was off, okay no big deal it's a busy night totally understandable. we walk in and there are people waiting outside that have yet to check in, the inside? packed like sardines. not a host or host stand in sight to even check in reservations. embarrassing! It's valentine's day?? then on top of that there's a older host walking up and down stairs taking random people to tables! when i finally found the manager in her bright pink shirt to ask her about checking in and what the deal was with why no one was even able to check in for their reservations, i was met with an attitude! i understand you're busy however dont give me sass because you can't run a restaurant and clearly need help. By 8:15 and after watching many people leave after sitting and not being served, we decided enough was enough and ended up at El Tacuba which is never bad. This was beyond disappointing and i hope everyone else was able to come up with ulterior plans. read more
