Okay. Ready for this? A doctor (physician assistant) Catherine Rose. Listened to me. And literally saved my life. I was struggling with an array of symptoms. She listened and cared and got me on the correct meds. She truly took her time and still does to understand what pain you are in and how we can elevate with natural remedies and treatments rather then just pills. The premise of medical is to actually care. RA is a horrific autoimmune disease and one would think that an RA group would want RA new patients to help them. Nope. What you get from Catalina to even be considered is a)a doctor referral - huh? b) Any past medical reports - mine were 161 pages, and my referral BTW had to come from my RA doctor in another state. And c) it will take up to two weeks for them to decide. Even after all that, they can still decline. This is like you being a serf begging for some bread because without it, you are going to continue to suffer, and the Lord of the manor keeps teasing you with it, but with strings attached. Oh, don't leave a message either - They won't call you back. I ended up at a wonderful RA doctor in Chandler. It took me less than 10 minutes to make an appt. No requirements needed, except you know, having RA. read more

Dr. Sudano is a caring and skilled rheumatologist. On our first visit, he diagnosed my spouse's problem, and found relief . We had been questing for 5 months. The office staff is friendly, professional and efficient. We also appreciate the attention given to patient comfort and health. So happy to recommend this practice! read more

Unlike others writing reviews, I have found all of the personnel at CP to be caring, attentive, polite and professional. Both Kate and Dr. Maricic are by far the best health care providers I have ever experienced. They have treated my illness for 3 years quite successfully. The Catalina Pointe infusion center is also a well run, highly competent organization. I am very grateful I found Dr. Maricic at Catalina Pointe. I highly recommend he and his organization. Was receiving good care until about a few months ago when my lupus got worse and the doctor treating me seemed very annoyed that my symptoms kept getting worse and kept popping up as I had to keep making appointments with her. She was extremely rude and in our last appointment hinted that if I kept having issues Aka my lupus got worse she would have to put me on medication that would make me infertile. I am a 23-year-old woman who wishes to have kids in the future so this was heartbreaking.. She was extremely Nonchalant about it and had no remorse for any stress or emotional discomfort she may have caused me. Healthcare worker here, so I definitely understand what the waiting process for specialists is like, and I understand how short staffed the world is..... that being said, catalina pointe has been the ONLY rheumatology practice recommended to me, by numerous people, including my PCP, as well as 2 other specialists. It has me wondering... are they the ONLY rheum providers in town? Because how can you treat potential patients the way that you do, and still have a thriving practice? The "new patient" option on your menu is the actual most patronizing thing I've ever heard from a provider... basically, "thanks for calling but don't bother wasting time leaving a message because we will call you back whenever we feel like it, or maybe we won't even call you back"..... you can sugarcoat it as much as you want, but that's literally what you're saying. That's gross. I'd literally have better luck just finding someone in Phoenix.... Maybe a practice that respects and values their patients/prospective patients. It's really crummy to just let people wait 4+ weeks, just to see if you'll even schedule an appointment, and how many weeks after that to see if you're one of the "chosen few"? Lol that's such a joke, and such a seriously disrespectful way to handle patient care. read more

I originally thought this was the place to go but trust me you are just another number on their patient board. We all know when we are in extreme pain and call we want to be acknowledge immediately. I called on a Wednesday then again on Friday just to hear from MY doctor, yes Im on her list to get back to. Not good..., Ok she could have reduced m pain 48 hrs before getting back to me because I am not a priority. So sad read more

I have been going to Catalina Pointe for 11 years, seeing Dr. Lori Bergstrom. She is wonderful, she is caring, professional, knowledgeable, and kind. When I started seeing her I was so miserable I wanted to die, could not walk without assistance, and I hurt all the time. She has managed my pain meds and my RA meds so that now I have almost all my hand function back, and I walk 1-2 miles daily and ride a bike half hour daily. Her staff is great, they call me with my lab results, they answer my messages within 24 hours, and often the same day. Judy LPN is awesome, as is Patience RN and Kiana MA and Cynthia, and George, and Veronica and I could name them all. So happy they have changed my life from miserable to joyfully functional. Calling your doctor on a Wednesday saying the meds are not working and I'm still in horrific pain and calling again on Friday to only here... " I got your message and you are on my list to get back to" isNOT acceptable. If I call because the meds are not working, I need a dr, like ALL my other doctors, to call me back the same day. Dr Tesfamichael is one of the best doctors I've met in a long time. Great attitude Listener Knowledgable Cordial "5" stars for her and her medical staff. Some of the office staff......well that's another issue. Very "thin skinned"!! a bit cocky when you "ruffle their feathers"! The hang up was my medical insurances. I was a bit "gruff" out of frustration after they pissed me off. (Guess they don't get many patients from "Philly") I've been in serious pain for months, and they attempted to turn me away because of my insurance confusion. They were much more concerned with my insurance status rather than the subsequent treatment. The forms they have you fill out are archaic and not at all thought out and confusing, another source of my agitation. If not for the Doctor, I would suffer rather than go back!!! With the money we all pay for health insurance, the customer should be treated with some compassion unless they are abusive to staff. I was very much not abusive. Wake up management and train your staff. There are plenty of doctors offices in our community that can serve the patient with respect and kindness. I really feel bad for older ones who may be a bit more confused than I might have been. I will continue to see Dr. Tesfamicael in spite of what I feel about some of the staff. Finally, a doctor that understands schedules! We were there 15 minutes prior as requested, and to our surprise we were called back on time. Dr Vaz was excellent! Came into the exam room right away, and was very courteous and professional. Had blood drawn on site for labs, HELLO.....why doesn't every office do this?? The staff was very helpful and friendly. Wow talk about lazy people. Noticed my mother in laws was on my mothers birthday. Tried to call to change it. Was put on hold by a machine. I hung up after 15 damn minutes. This IS NOT the first time this has happened. When in there the front office people are just checking in people or scheduling appointment or yacking with each other. Nothing but LAZY people at this office and UNORGANIZED. Patients are never taken where they need to be. It is IMPOSSIBLE to talk to the doctor, they always transfer you to their MA, which are not certified to diagnose or give recommendations yet they still do. They have people waiting over 30 minutes to be taken back but you can hear people in the back office just talking and laughing. So UNPROFESSIONAL!!! You spend over an hour here just waiting you only see the MA and Doctor for like 10 minutes. They also expect you to fill out very confusing forms and DO NOT offer any help. Would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

Dr Vaz is my rheumatologist. I have seen him regularly every 3 months for the past 10 years. His office staff is always polite and helpful. I never have to wait more than 5 minutes. Today they called me back before I even sat down. Dr Vaz never is rushed, he is thorough efficient. I cannot imagine anyone ever complaining about this office. If you are lucky enough to get in as a new patient, you will be very pleased with the care. read more

Making an appointment here is a nightmare. You have to play phone tag for months even as a return patient. The doctor is good but you are so stressed out from trying to get in it is totally not worth it. Staff is very rude. I spent 2 years going back and forth for a follow up appointment. Meanwhile my disease progressed. I finally asked my doctor for a referral to a different doctor. Guess what...I had an appointment in 3 days. read more
