This is exactly what I needed! My beautiful cat suddenly passed in January and it has been a difficult time. I was so excited to find a place like this that houses cats that are ready for adoption. The cats have been fully vaccinated, microchipped and have been spayed/neutered. They have reservations available to come pet and play with the cats. You can pay for a 15 minute session or a one hour session. It's such a win-win since the cats get socialized by the people going there and you get the opportunity to live on the cats. Well, I came for an hour and basically cried the whole time as I got to pet and play with the cats. Of course there was one, in particular, that looked similar to mine that I just lost. They crawled up on my lap and just let me pet them and cry. Very therapeutic! Please come support Cat Therapy as they help facilitate finding safe homes for these loving cats. Or better yet, come adopt one of your own. The facility is beautifully designed with toys, boxes, bowls to sleep in, scratch pads and indiscreet litter boxes. The cats freely roam so the doors stay locked to be sure they don't accidentally get out. Just ring the bell when you arrive. They also sell merchandise. This was well worth it! This is like a cat cafe without the cafe. You pay a certain amount based on how much time you want to spend with the felines. There were over 20 cats in this very smallish, intimate, cozy space during our visit so you won't be searching for cats to pet or play with. They have younger cats, and older cats, and sleepy cats, and crazy energetic ones. There will most certainly be at least one cat available to suit your preference. I am a big believe in the healing power of cats so cat "therapy" aligns with my philosophy. To be clear, cats help heal humans and we help heal cats. You don't really need to reserve here! Yelp checkin gives 20% off admission which is pretty huge. One hour for two people was $48 (60-12) using the yelp checkin. Was it worth it? Well if you like cats it could be. The admission fee is pretty high but it goes to a good cause, to help shelter these cats and get them adopted. Some cats are very playful and others are very scared/ sleepy. We came from 4-5 pm and cats started sleeping at around 4:45 so I don't recommend coming any later than 4 if you actually want to play with the cats. I felt one hour was pretty long, I was pretty tapped out after 30. Definitely a cool experience especially if you're a cat person. read more

However, the business should be more mindful of the cats energy and not sell walk-in tickets when none of the cats are awake...Would only recommend going in the first 2-3 hours of opening. Right away when we came in, the lady helping us had no idea what to do. We mentioned we're a walk in and asked how it works and she said you can come for 15 mins or 1 hour, when their website literally says 30 mins ($20)/1 hour slots($25)? We compared it to the website but she just said $15 for 15 minutes is all she can do. We saw her manually type in the price which made it even more fishy. After driving all the way to SB, we decided to give it a try given all the good reviews. Sadly, the cats were all asleep by 4pm! While letting me into the pen, she literally said haha looks like all the cats are asleep have fun. The website promises around 15-20 cats but there were only 10 cats inside with only 1 cat awake. A good variety of cats if I could have seen any of them to begin with! I completely understand that working with pets is like this, but don't accept money for an experience you won't deliver on. It would be nice if it was more mindful of customers' time and the cats' health (aka don't close at 7pm). read more

We booked a private one hour therapy session with the cats. Booking the reservation was easily done online and well priced given the feline therapist to person ratio. We arrived at opening and their friendly staff got us right in to meet with the purrfessionals (just came up with that). The cats were cool, mellow, and doing their thing, and I was stoked just to be hanging out with them. I arrived about 40 mins before closing, and the lady was kind enough to let me spend half an hour with the fur babies, and there were many great cats. This was definitely worth the money, as she gave me a little cat treat to feed the kitties, and there were tons of cat toys for playing with kittens. We decided to do the last call session based on the recommendation of an employee. She said it's a little slower then and the cats are more active. This session is only 30 minutes instead of an hour. We thought an hour might be too long. Boy were we wrong! The 30 minutes flew by! We were the only ones there so we had the kitties all to ourselves. We asked a lot of questions that were answered by the staff and almost considered taking one of them home. We had a great time playing and getting to know each of the cats. Some were ready to run around and play, while others were winding down for the evening. This is such a great idea and a great way to spend some downtime after all that walking around. I have visited twice in my years going down to Santa Barbara to see family . Last time I went during the Old Spanish Days festival, it was pretty busy. Which is a good thing! We absolutely loved our visit here! My girlfriend has always wanted to go to a cat cafe, so I found this spot to take her to. We called ahead of time and made a reservation to visit after we finished having some coffee down the street. We had an hour to sit and play with the cats. A lot of them were taking naps, but we still got the chance to interact with plenty of cats, all ages and sizes! I have a cat allergy and thankfully it didn't act up. This place is freaking adorable. My friends and I just finished our massage at float and were just walking around the area and came across this place. We went on a Saturday afternoon 4 pm and paid for a 15 minute session which was 17 dollars I believe? For an hour session it is 22 dollars and if you are checking in on Yelp you will get w discount. I'm SO glad my friend and I wandered in here a few weeks back! We were exploring downtown and I had such a great experience overall. Typically, you're supposed to book an appointment slot (for the sake of COVID and avoiding overwhelming the cats) but when we went, there was nobody there for the coming hour or so. The staff was just one girl working, but she was so sweet and helped us out with payment and showing us around! You're supposed to sanitize and then take shoes off before going in to the play area with the cats, which I appreciated a lot. I recently adopted a cat myself and now I understand that cats really do spend most of their time sleeping. A lot of the cats were dozing off, but there were a few playful ones who were active and interacting with us. There are a TON of toys available for us to use with the cats there and it was such a fun and unique experience on State Street! I can't remember the exact pricing, but it wasn't too expensive - it was definitely worth spending the hour with these adorable cats :) read more

This place is awesome! It's owned by a husband and wife who greet you as soon as you walk in and give you the run down. They have about 15 cats who are all available for adoption. They have had 22 adoptions since opening 2 months ago. A good number of the cats were sleeping but there were enough to go around. It's one of those places you have experience to get. Basically people are just hanging out and petting cats. Their collars are different colors which let you know their gender, if they are shy, and if they have been adopted. The cats are super friendly since they are used to being around people. The environment is very clean, relaxed, and chill. It's only $12 on the weekends for 75 min, I think they definitely could charge more. We didn't get any food or drinks but you can order something when you check in and the staff will pick it up for you from the cafe next door. We didn't make a reservation ahead of time but I would recommend that you do. I'll definitely check it out again next time we are in town. read more

As a cat lover, I was STOKED to learn about a cat cafe coming to Santa Barbara since I'd always heard of them but never been. I followed on Instagram and always had severe FOMO when scrolling through my feed of adorable kittens. My boyfriend (who has a severe cat allergy) popped some Zyrtec took me here for my birthday. He's not a cat person but even he had fun. The space is really modern and cozy and you can order drinks which the staff will deliver to you from a nearby cafe. They offer tons of special events like cat yoga, studying with cats, cat wine nights, kitten shower parties, and more. We met the owner, Catalina, who was photographing some kitties for IG and she was super sweet and shared her amazing story of how Cat Therapy came to be. Her creative vision has been executed so well and really come to life. We got to play with the kitties for 75 minutes which was plenty of time to feed them and take pictures and just hang out. A lot of cats were sleeping which is to be expected since they are nocturnal animals, but there were still many eager to play. A few months later, I ended up winning free cat yoga passes for two from an IG contest and got to return for yoga with cats! This was so relaxing and fun and we got some kitty play time after. I love supporting this business because of the mission and work they do for cats. If you're a cat person, visit. If you're not a cat person, visit. You just might fall in love. read more
