The behavior I encountered is indicative of an insecure individual who clearly pre judges. I believed you the first time when you reflect who you are.... I encourage others to bypass this business. The south shore market across the street from TJ Maxx (1170 Auahi St) has local stores with great selections. Also has a large free parking structure.

They had a limited selection of Aloha bags in the most recent patterns. Vintage style Hawaiian prints, locally crafted jewelry and a limited amount of home decor are among the shop's offering. The clerks were friendly without being overbearing. Prices were are a premium, but worth it to get genuine Hawaiian products. The shop is located in Chinatown. There is highly coveted metered street parking or a parking garage near by.

I've personally enjoyed the quality build & unique designs such as the Year of the Rabbit & University of Hawai'i Aloha shirts. Upon entering you're greeted by an associate while the store is decked out in wooden floors & borders. Since this year's the Year of the Dragon, I contacted the store & they gladly added me on the list once the shirts was available to puchase & pick up. They called me notifying the shirts were ready (they usually hold your reserved items for you for a couple of days). Yes, the shirts are a bit north of $100 but because the shirt is comfortable & very high quality I'd say it's worth it. Love the shirt & design so much I bought both colorways! The staff was very helpful, from showing me the dressing room to showing me other offerings such as their shorts & other styles currently on sale. & the way they fold the items into the bag shows they give great care to their products. Born and raised in Honolulu and now living in the bay, I want to create diaper cakes using Hawaiian print materials to give them an aloha vibe. I created a list of fabric stores to visit, but ended up just checking this place out since it was in Kalihi, not far from where my mom lives, and I didn't feel like being in the crazy Oahu traffic to get to the other shops. Located in a warehouse off N. King Street in Kalihi, it wasn't very hard to find, and parking can be limited in front of the warehouse or street parking. When my mom and I walked in, we were amazed at the vast amount of material this place carries. A lot of Hawaiian print, Palaka, Japanese, Tahitian, and those cute Kawaii patterns (see my pics) to name a few. We received great customer service considering how busy they were. Daniel was pleasant and very helpful. Prices were reasonable, the prints I got were from $5/yd. They mainly carry rolls of material, some ribbon, and a few sewing accessories at the checkout counter. Daniel recommended I check out their Instagram for any new print drops, and they ship! Off 1 star for organization. There are some beautiful prints hiding under several rolls of fabric.

The locally made clothing uses a synthetic moisture wicking fabric and I was after 100% cotton so focused on the t-shirts. They have lots of interesting prints and carry sizes from small to XXL. The cotton t-shirts are imported or from Hanes, but the prints are done in store so you are supporting local artisans even when you do not buy the custom clothing. They also have a variety of gifts such as jewelry and decor items.

I think they are card only. Ofc the most difficult thing about kealopiko is how exclusive it is. They make their clothes in small batches and hand print the material. It's good quality items and honestly less expensive than some other locally owned stores, so I like shopping here. It's just sometimes hard to get your hands on things. I'll definitely be back. I happened to park right across the street from Calico Cat... in a metered street parking stall. Carol is the cheerful owner. She saw that I was confused because Every Day Better by Green Meadows is next door to Calico Cat. Carol explained the sign above that shows the name of the shop closest to each shop - depending on which way you face the sign. Ahhh... Calico Cat was described by their neighbor (Every Day Better by Green Meadows) as having fabric "eye candy". LOL! Yes - if you sew, you know that these bolts of material are very beautiful, whimsical, and unique! They are very inspirational and made me want to sew! Of course, I purchased a lot of material... thinking that Christmas is coming... I need to get a head start! Remember to get a Loyalty Card.
