Went for the first time with my family for Mother's Day and my dad's birthday. Cocktails were really good. Salads were okay. Pizza was not great. First time in my life I ordered mushrooms with my steak and got canned mushrooms??? They were warm and only tasted like butter. So gross. read more

This is a great steak place, farm to table with this place. Can not get a steak any fresher. The appetizer are good and the soup and sides are strong. It you come here to get a steak and $5 cheaper than any one else. It's a chill atmosphere so do not dress up like we did. read more

Very disappointed, I had heard so many people talk about this place. Perhaps we came on an off day, because our experience was not what we expected. The house salads were sad, the lettuce was wilted and had brown spots, my cole slaw must have been left in the fridge far too long. The meat was tasty, but not evenly cooked. I wanted medium rare, throughout. The baked potatoes were rather small for the price we paid. Perhaps, we need to give it another try, but it may not be for a while. read more

"Come eat at the butcher's house". This says it all! If you want a great steak, casual atmosphere and excellent service with a good price, this is THE place. Steaks are always spot on and I love the cole slaw so much that I order double serving every time I'm there. Wow I thought I reviewed Castaways but I will try again. The service was great! Quick to come to table and take your order. The Ambiance was to my liking but I like "old school" tablecloths on each table. Food, I know restaurants are trying to overcome loss time at lockdown & was looking for some tastier food. My mouth was all set for a great sirloin steak but it was tasteless. I paid a lot of money for that meal and I am willing to wait for a freshly cooked steak. This is a sit down meal and I am not there to be rushed out the door. I maybe critical but I want what I pay for and not fast food taste. I will give you a 2nd chance. Set up your reservation to enjoy their prime rib dinner the Tuesday before. They will only have enough for those who do. This is not your normal steakhouse prime rib either. Their meats cone from a local butcher shop and are cooked to perfection. The serving size is sure to satisfy any hungry appetite. I picked a salad as one of my sides after seeing they make their own dressings. Amazing. Service was prompt and they were quick to check back with us often. In a bit of a weird location. I actually thought my GPS took me the wrong way. But I was so pleasantly surprised when I sat down to eat! Super clean, friendly staff and incredibly fast service. We told them about how we had a terrible experience with a different restaurant down the road and they gave us some free appetizers to make our night better! I had heard so many good things about this place that I finally decided to give it a try. What I did like: decent location (pretty view of trees but right next to a substation), not super crowded on a Saturday night, food is decent. What I didn't like: the service was slowwww. There were three servers and 6 tables but it still took forever to get drink refills and get our order in. They were out of the steaks my husband and I ordered, but did give us a free sirloin. The food seemed almost entirely canned/frozen. They order their meat locally but it wasn't cooked well. My steak was well when I asked for medium rare and the flavor was not that great. The shrimp was very obviously frozen. Overall it all felt like something I could've made in my kitchen (and saved $90). It's not terrible and seems to have a little cult following, but I won't eat here again unless invited. I could've gone to Texas Roadhouse for that money and had a better meal. read more

The pizza was very good and fresh dough in house shredded cheese blend, just very good... not the best I've had but certainly at the top. The sirloin steak dinner for two was very good and worth the 20 minute drive. Certainly as good or better than TX Rd house or tumbleweeds sirloin. The portions were very large for 2 people and house made salad dressing very good as well. This is not a fancy place by no means, very down home friendly place. It's certainly a great place and I would consider it a once a quarter trip for us to hit and keep on our radar. read more

I had gotten a coupon from restaurant.com for here, so my friend and I went the other night. I swear I had been to this place before, but when it was down on Main St. Am I thinking of the same place? Anyway, it's a little out of the way but I liked that it's quiet and secluded. I'm fairly certain it's family-owned, and the inside looked like your hometown diner. We both had steaks; he had the most sour applesauce either of us have ever tasted and grilled mushrooms, which were very good. With my steak I had a shrimp skewer that was very good but I didn't dunk it in the butter because it tasted just like the butter I used to serve guests when I worked in a movie theatre. Gross. I also had a salad and a baked potato that were very good. We both loved our steaks; I think that was the best part about the experience. When it came to paying, they didn't seem to like the fact that we had a $25 coupon. Just because someone has a coupon doesn't mean they're not considering coming back another time to pay full price. That's a reason why I get coupons; to try out new places to see if it's worth coming back. I gladly enjoy paying full-price at a restaurant that I love and respect. I give it 3 stars because the service was just not there. I get it's a "hometown feel" kind of place, but the waitress was in sweatpants, sneakers, and a sweatshirt, and wasn't friendly enough to make me completely comfortable. read more

My husband and I tried this place out for the first time and were not impressed. The down-home no frills atmosphere definitely is a foreshadowing of what is to come. The place was not unusually busy, but the waitress greeted us in a sort of huffyness that translated to being put out that another party arrived that she had to serve. The demeanor of the wait staff all had the same appearance- schlepping up to the table in street clothes and pitching the food down without making eye contact or smiling. There didn't seem to be any pride in the appearance of the employees. It was as if they all just crawled out of bed in whatever they slept in. It seemed that there was low morale within the staff that took the enjoyment out of the experience. However; this is a favorite for locals, so as long as you have created a relationship with the staff you will be welcomed and treated as family. The food was average and the pizza was nothing to get excited about. They have a good following so they must be doing something right, but we will not be back. read more

I called to complain but they didn't care and refused to make it right said it was the same as always. No, no it's not. Rude and no customer service whatsoever. Food was great, service was fantastic. It's kind of a hole in the wall type place. Nothing fancy at all. You seat yourself. But the steaks were fantastic. The owner of the butcher shop in town, Bays, owns the restaurant. Full bar, some IPA beers and wine. My one and only complaint was that the mushrooms were from a can and not fresh. Food was good but if the owner is a meat cutter/butcher he either lacks knowledge of the cuts or is serving cutter-canner beef as the fillet mignon I ordered was the chewiest Tenderloin that I ever had the unfortune to be served. I don't usualy write reviews but couldn't help myself when I was looking for the phone number of the establishment that my family and I have frequented for about 20 years. I saw these other reviews and people are allowed their own opinions but I'm not sure the last person was talking about the same restaurant because in the 20 years I have been there they have never opened befor 4:00 pm.
