We were a bit weary due to the low reviews but this is pretty nice restaurant. While you might not get an enthusiastic welcome in with huge smiles- you get a greeting in a pretty atmosphere (music was not blasting so you could have a conversation!), extremely clean and nicely set up (every single water glass I saw was crystal clean- something I rarely see now days). The people working are calm and professional. On to the food-- we had the ground chicken skewers (our fav and will order again), the lamb shank (lacking in excitement but nice cut of meat nicely cooked), hummus (pretty good), shabzi salad, and yogurt/spinach dish (zingy and good). We are never fans of the thin dry lavash at these restaurants but that is not a negative since it is traditional. It does make eating the hummus and other appetizers less appealing and we long for something less paper-like. Our water glasses were always filled, plates cleared at perfect times, and dishes came out at decent times. Negatives: sour cherry rice was the worst we've had - giant sweet cherries with a splash of rose water was not good- overly sweet and unpleasant. Dessert- Zoolbia (fried dough with syrup) Our kids ate it because it was sweet but as soon as we walked out of the restaurant they both said it was actually not good and made their tummy hurt- it looked quite old.. maybe left over from weekend. They should just say they are out if it's old. Pros: very clean, professional, good ground chicken kabobs. Overall- we will be back and know what to avoid. I come from Los Angeles which is the Mecca of Persian food, so take this review however you like but the food here was below average... and the ambiance was dead on a Sunday. We ordered the Tahdig with Ghormeh sabzi stew and it was very bad. The Tahdig was just some barely crispy white rice with no flavor and it seemed like it was leftover from day before. They were very skimpy with the stew on top and even that wasn't any good. My non-Iranian friend made a better ghormeh sabzi on her first try ever. We also got the shallot yoghurt and chicken cornish with rice. The yogurt was 2/5 and the chicken wasn't cooked properly and the tomatoes had no flavor and the onion they served with meal was old. Food tastes great. What was unexpected was when the credit card machine shows $61 and then I got charged $63.50 or so on my bill. Clearly they are charging junk fees if you use a credit card instead of cash and it wasn't made clear in the charging process. Will not go back. Takeout review: Ordering online was easy and the food was ready at the chosen pickup time. They keep the doors locked and meet up at the entrance to take payment and hand off the food. The Caspian Special was trio of kabobs: barg ( sirloin), koobideh (ground beef) and chicken breast. The barg was a bit dry unfortunately, but the other two were on point. The order also came with bread, salad and vinaigrette dressing, rice and grilled tomatoes. I wish there was some sort of sauce to accompany the meats, because that would've been next level. Overall the portions were good to split among two of us. Note: It seems they do dine in by reservation only and I get the sense it's not easily available to obtain, otherwise takeout is the way they've chosen to operate. read more

Caspian has the best Mediterranean food in Seattle! We like Mediterranean foods and by far it is the best for our family! Our group had the caspian special, koobideh, the spicy beef , chicken. Their special rice is indeed, special! The service was excellent, with the servers promptly removing used plates and refilling drinks quickly! The place was very clean and comfortable for our family get together! They allowed us to bring in a special home made birthday cake with a nominal fee, as well as corkage for a personal preferred wine for the celebrant! I haven't had to contemplate this much about the rating of a restaurant in awhile. On one hand, Caspian indisputably serves the best kabob and rice in the region, IMO better than Mediterranean Kitchen, and even some higher end restaurants like Lola and Mamnoon. On the other hand, the service was so shockingly poor that it almost seemed like a joke. At 12:15, even though the doors had a business open sign, it was locked. We tugged the door a little harder thinking it was just stuck, because we can see the staffs standing inside. Then finally the infamous lady (per other yelpers) opened the door slightly, pointed to the lunch and dinner menu to warn us that in order to dine in, we must order from the dinner menu (pricier) and we must order one entree per person (no sharing). We agreed and only then she unwillingly let us in to an almost empty restaurant. The remaining service (if I can call it that) was rushed and cold. When we tried to leave, the door was still locked with a small key left on the inside of the door. She didn't bothered to open the door for us even though she was right by it and saw us struggling to open it. I'm familiar with unfriendly service as it's common in low cost Asian restaurants...but the key difference is that those are low margin business whose limited staffs are overwhelmingly busy serving too many customers and juggling multiple roles at once. This is not the case at Caspian since customers are paying dinner menu price + 18% required tips and the front end staff does not appear busy. We are likely going to be back because the kabob was that good...we will just have to do some zen meditation to mentally prepare ourselves for the possible rude service again. read more

I've been a customer for many years, since they had the Seattle restaurant. Meals used to be consistently good. Not sure what has changed but last three times have been very disappointing. I thought the first poor experience might have been a one off so gave it a second and then a third chance. I won't be ordering again. The last was the worst. This is a review based on a visit during a time period of social distancing so keep in mind that your experience could be different. I knew of Caspian due to two reasons. 1) the place where I go to get my hair done is located right across the street from the restaurant. And 2) after one such occasion of getting my hair done, I noticed a colleague of mine entering the restaurant. We chatted for a bit and he mentioned he loved Caspian. As he is Persian himself, he believed the food was great in showcasing food from that background. With that recommendation, I knew I had to visit in the future. One thing to keep in mind is the area surrounding the restaurant is terrible in terms of getting to place to place. This is NOT the fault of the restaurant rather all the construction going on in the area. At the time of my visit, the middle of the road was divided by barriers and if you happened to be on the wrong side of the road, you have to drive at least a block away in order try to find a path to lead you to Caspian's parking lot. Walking isn't much better. Overall, if you are heading to the location, put extra time to reach. When I visited, the dining rooms were not opened at the time. But they had preorder and takeout options. The menu was listed outside on the store window. When I was ready they brought out the card reader so I could do it outside and wait for my food. If you have a car, this would be an ideal place to wait. Overall, I enjoyed my food and can't wait to come back properly when the dining doors open. read more

The dinners are a bit expensive for the offering so I prefer the lunch menu items. The food is good. I wouldn't say amazing but a solid 3 stars. They are a bit pricey but the quality is great. We ordered Prime Sirloin ( barg) and Chicken Breast with Saffron ( jooje). The portions were generous and again, very tasty and high quality. The rice had a very generous amount of saffron and the grilled tomato was juicy and big. It also included salad, herbs (sabzi), raw onion, sumac, and lavash bread. My first Persian food experience - recommended by my half Iranian friend! Of note, on a Sunday, the kitchen closes at 8, so you gotta get there earlier and place your order. We were running late, so one person in our party had to order first before the kitchen closed. For a party of 4, we feasted (this word is not an exaggeration) on the remaining 2 ground beef kebab, 1 chicken kebab, Fesenjan (chicken with pomegranate sauce), Ghimeh Bademjan (eggplant and beef stew), and rice (regular? and cherry rice). We are very happy with the quality and consistency in quality of Caspian restaurant for the past few years. They keep their recipes and ingredients the same so I know what's expected every time we eat their food. The beef kabab and chicken tenders kabab are my favorite. The food always comes with sides of Salad, basil and onions, and also butter and lavash bread in a generous size, Super clean and fresh ingredients. The restaurant has a formal atmosphere, it's not like a cozy restaurant, cafe or bar, perhaps not everyone's style from other reviews, but this is one of best places I trust in east side. read more
