It's been a while since I've been here and I want to let you know what I think: I went there on a Sunday, partially for their bloody mary bar and also because it is a good casual halfway place from my SIL. It's not a bad looking place. They have done some work on the bathrooms and on the patio, looks good with new patio chairs and a bocce pit. The flower baskets are a nice touch. The bloody mary bar is a good deal: from 10a-2p $10 for as many as you can put in your bloody mary hole. We got there late so I only had two. There were some who had quite a few more. There was a fight - a girl fight. It got pretty intense, not sure that is the kind of image they want to represent, but there it was. My unsolicited advice is that they should cut out the $10 all you can drink deal. Some people will take advantage of it and have ten bloody Mary's and this is a liability. The food: it was okay. The reuben seemed like the bread was stale and the meat was flavorless. The southwest eggrolls were really good, as were the fries. The service: not bad. We sat at the bar when we were inside and the bartender was friendly enough. He gave us some good suggestions and seemed to have a good attitude. I think he was embarrassed by the girl fight. I'll be back and I'll try other things. They have a really good lunch special and I know their steaks are bomb. So, I'll go back and give another review at a later date. read more

We sat it the bar, waiting for the bartender to acknowledge us. finally after 5 min, a new bartender came out just as rude. swearing , with people at the bar. we decided to order the sirloin, worst toughest steak we have ever had. could barely cut through it wIth a steak knife - potatoes cold, service horrible. Bartender never asked how it was, if we wanted another drink, nothing. place was horribly dirty as well. should have been our first sign not to eat there. Casper's Cherokee is very good. Great drinks, (Especially the Long Island) and very good food. I like how the bar is truly separate from the restaurant. It's almost like you can decide what your in the mood as you walk in... To the left: sports bar To the right: classy restaurant The same menu is offered on both sides of the restaurant. So there's no issues there. The food is incredible. We've enjoyed everything on the menu. Isn't that why we go out to eat in the first place!?!? Try the ribs, burgers, walleye fingers and taco bar. You won't be disappointed. If I'd say one negative thing... I'd like to see them brighten up the decor a bit. And dust out the window sills. I don't want to see spider webs when I eat. Made reservations in advance for the patio here and they were messed up somehow/ overbooked. We were placed in the dining room to start, then moved to the bar area then eventually made it outside to the patio. We were thankful and appreciated the service we received trying to accommodate us in that area. Food took a very long time to come out, and it didn't taste like anything special. The Juicy Lucy was disappointing! The cheese in the quesadillas and on the nachos was interesting. Im sorry to say, but I think it shows why they're averaged at 3 stars here. Visited Casper's for the first time this past Sunday, 09/18/2022 and my family and I were very disappointed. Our waitress at first was not friendly at all, and food was terrible. Our waitress towards the end got more friendly but our food was awful. I had ordered a ham and egg omelette that was overloaded with cheese and the ham had a very strange taste turning me off from finishing it. My mom and I both got omelettes that come with hash browns and they were not cooked at all. White as can be like they came right out of the package. Definitely wouldn't recommend. My Mom and I visited Casper's on 10/19 for the first time in 20 years. We stopped going there after a Mother's Day brunch where we were packed in like sardines and definitely going against the fire code. But, we decided to give you guys another chance. Clearly, this was a mistake. Upon walking in, the restaurant was too warm and stuffy. It was clear that you haven't redecorated since the last time were there. The carpet was dingy and full of scraps like it hadn't been vacuumed in weeks. The table was unbelievably sticky, to the point where we had trouble lifting glasses and plates off of it. I rested my arms on it and got stickiness on my shirt. But probably the worst part was our drinks. We ordered brandy old fashioneds and they were incredibly weak and watered down. Our server brought the drinks back to the bar to get another shot in each of them, but it was clear that no more alcohol was added. So, we drank our crappy drinks. When the bill came, we couldn't believe that those horrible drinks were $10 each! The food was wonderful, but needless to say, we will not be returning. read more

I waited patiently for five months for this establishment to lift its racist ban against me, after I went to the police to inquire about how to handle an incident I was involved in at Casper's. I was given the green light to pursue my inquiry with the police by management in the form of Anthony Schille, but learned a few days later when the police showed up to retrieve security footage that I was then 86d; for literally going to the police and the police actually doing their job and going to see if the incident I reported happened the way I said it did. (Here's the shocker, I was 100% honest and right and the security footage vindicated my presumed guilt based on my melanin. I kid you not) But, back to Casper's of Eagan. I used to frequent this bar/restaurant on a weekly, sometimes daily basis. I became close with a number of the staff, and was even defended by multiple employees who witnessed the incident that inevitably got me banned for life. Well, I had been in contact with the manager who had originally banned me and was informed that by my posting my disgust, embarrassment and frustration with Casper's on my Facebook page, owner Rick Casper and Tracy Casper (?) don't feel I should be allowed back in their establishment. ‍ So, Rick Casper and Tracy, no, this minority female will not be licking your boots to show my sincerity. The fact that I felt the need to go to the police was only because I did not feel confident in Casper's to do the right thing. And clearly someone was holding their beer! read more

Oh how the mighty have fallen. When i moved to eagan 16 years ago, this spot was fantastic. Sadly after tonight's Valentines dinner, though, i'm really reluctant to give the Cherokee Sirloin Room another chance. First off, the decor is reminiscent of a late 70's small town supper club, and it has been that way for as long as ive been going there. They have had a cool bar area since the fire but theres a live lobster crane game right as you walk in, and its incredibly tacky. Second, the server tonight wasnt really rude, but never once did she smile, and she was very short like it was a burden for her to answer our questions. It was a very unwelcoming service experience. Third, the food. Good lord, the food was really unacceptable tonight. The presentation, the taste, all of it was awful with few exceptions. We started with two appetizers, the mac and cheese bites and the blackened tender tips. The mac and cheese bites were the better of the two appetizers. Although they claim to be smoked gouda mac and cheese bites, that was not smoked gouda. It was clearly sharp cheddar and lots of cream cheese, and there was nary a "mac" component to be found. Im sure they were in there if i were to take the time to dissect each one, but the flavor was decent, they was just clearly from a bag. The blackened tender tips were intriguing as they were supposed to be in a "Sweet and Sour" sauce with mushrooms, peppers, and onions. Well, they were, but the sauce has either been stewing with those tips for several hours and had started to burn, or it was just an uber bitter sauce because they wer just not good. To make matters worse, the two dipping sauces that they gave us were ranch (with sweet and sour, really?) and a beurre blanc, which is fantastic when executed properly. However, this lacked the mild acidity or the consistency of a beurre blanc. It didnt really taste like anything, and it was a dark yellow color. It reminded me of underseasoned and over-thickened chicken gravy. Unappetizing to say the least. The entrees were not any better. I got the pan fried walleye hoagie. I got this assuming it would be breaded and pan fried to a crispy golden brown. Sadly the piece of fish that i got was indeed breaded but not even close to crispy, or brown, heck, it wasnt even yellow. The breading had the consistency of a beer battered fish that traveled miles home in a to go container. Soggy and loathesome, and of course, again. Zero seasoning. The fries on the other hand, had so much salt on them that they were barely edible. I considered sticking some of the fries into the hoagie to give it some flavor and some crunch. Sadly i was too busy picking bones out of my sandwich to think about that. My wife got the steak of the millenium with a giant onion ring on top, au gratin potatos, and broccoli. Wife gave me the onion ring as its not her thing and she knows that i love them. Surprise surprise, the breading was not seasoned at all. It was the first bad onion ring i have ever had in my entire life. Her steak WAS cooked perfectly, medium rare, but yet again, there was zero seasoning. It was so bland and flavorless. The au gratin potatos came out and the top was burned. Not browned, not bubbly golden as it should be. A thick burned skin on top. It looked ghastly. The lone bright spot of her meal was the broccoli. It was cooked perfectly. My daughter got the $7.99 burger with fries. And her fries, like mine, were waaaay overseasoned, and the burger waaaay underseasoned. Thats about it for a dismal valentines day meal. Its a pity that this once great place has fallen so far. There are just way too many other great restaurants in eagan to roll the dice on this place anymore. read more

Beginning with the reservation, I'm not impressed. I made a reservation on their website and the confirmation email was blank save for the subject line. I called the morning of our meal to confirm and was told that they often forget to check the online reservations and making them online was kind of iffy. Mine had not, indeed, been recorded. I suggested they take that option off their website and she commented (very young woman), "Mmmm...well...sometimes it happens". I had the patty melt which was nothing special. It came with au gratins which had not yet been put in the broiler to melt the cheese on top and the potatoes were, at best, luke warm. The staff was moving dirty trash cans through the restaurant while people were eating (not good) and the waitress began clearing our table well before we were finished eating. We had been there for lunch when we first moved to the area and it was good. Perhaps a slow day. Dinner just wasn't up to part. With so much competition in the general area, I won't be going back anytime soon. read more

When we come we usually sit in the bar area and take advantage of the happy hour menu. The prices are good and they run happy hour deals like free taco bar and such. We ate at Casper's last night, and the service was less than satisfactory. As we were ordering, the waitress was distracted by another party being seated. She left us in the middle of ordering to talk to the hostess and possibly someone else (she went around the corner). She walked to the party being seated and then finally came back over to our table. She took the rest of the menus before the rest of us had a chance to order. Before ordering, I asked about the pico de gallo and salsa in the quesadilla, and she said "You don't like cilantro?" like I was the only person in the world not to like/eat it. When I ordered the Caesar Salad and asked for no cheese, she acted like it was strange to order it without cheese. I also asked for a different dressing, and she acted like that was not normal either. Our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. However, as I was eating, I realized my salad came with sliced hard boiled eggs. I told our waitress, and someone else came out with a plate of it shortly after. I don't know if the eggs were her fault or not. I then realized my salad also came with "fresh bread."When the waitress came back, I brought this up, and she told me matter-of-factly that it is the same bread given to the table to share. I told her it says on the menu that my meal comes with fresh bread. After both of us repeating ourselves a couple times, she asked if I wanted more bread. I said yes. This was by far the most upsetting incident that took place during our time here. The menu clearly says under the salads section that a salad comes with bread. I don't care if it's the same bread as what is served before the meal. If I'm paying for a meal, I want everything that is included. The waitress either hasn't read the menu or she hasn't had a customer bring this up before. The waitress was good about filling our small water cups regularly except for the second half of eating. We wanted refills, but she was nowhere to be seen. Once, we asked a different waitress who was passing by with a water pitcher for refills, and she got it done. We needed more refills toward the end of the meal again, but when she offered we were already paying and getting out of there. Right before asking for the bill, she wanted to make sure we were happy and our cups were filled. It seemed like she was trying to make things better, but it came across as wanting a bigger tip. We had already eaten and were ready to go. Overall, the unsettling experience revolved around the interactions I had with the waitress and my meal. I think everyone else with me had an all right experience. One person didn't appreciate the bones in their fish, the table and carpet were sticky, and we all needed refills too often. I think Casper's should get bigger glasses or use less ice so customers don't need to flag someone down for a refill every five minutes. I really wanted to have a good time, but it kind of seemed like I was hitting a wall when it came to the waitress. I wish we had someone else serving us. If it were just me eating, I would have given one star, but since I was with others and they didn't have as much trouble as I had, I gave the experience two stars. - read more

We have driven by this place for many years. Decided to finally go last night. We had made reservations but ended up finishing our errands early so we headed on over. We were blown away by the parking derby so my husband dropped me off. The hostess told me the wait would be about half an hour. We're patient and decided to wait. Well that half hour turned into an hour an ten minutes which was ten minutes beyond our original reservation. Should we have left....probably. We were finally seated at a darkly light table in a high traffic area. We watched as our neighbor table received excellent and attentive service. Well luck of the draw we must have had the slowest server. We finally placed our order. We both had steak, baked potato and salad. The bread was good. It's the same as the Smith Av location. The salads were average. The steaks were cooked to perfection...compliments to the chef! It's unfortunate that the "front of the house" is not efficient. We will not return despite the well practiced apologies of the server and one of the hostesses. read more

(Never sat in the dining room, so this reviews the bar(n) post-fire) I've been going to Casper's for their bar since 2006-2007, pre-fire, and still today. One could say my wife and I are regulars, we at least visit once a week. I have seen a lot of quality and friendly waitstaff and barstaff come and go over the years (Dawn, Chris, Ana, Wendy, to name a few), but there are still a lot of familiar faces there to serve (Tony, Cory, Tracey, Alina, Pam) and a lot of the newer staff is great too (Jon, Patrick, Cassie, etc.) and Rick, the owner, is always fun to run in to. We have been going to happy hour recently, usually on Thursdays, and I have never seen the bar busier than over the past few months. Honestly, it can be a struggle to get seating but that's kindof the atmosphere we like so we just wait patiently with a drink from the bar until a couple seats open up. The free taco/nacho bar is decent and the drinks are cheap during HH (not bad regularly too). There are a lot of regulars there during that time so it's always fun to rub shoulders with like-minded, fun-loving people. The patio at Casper's is great during the nicer months and is usually one of the earliest to open in the spring, so that's always nice. Bag-toss boards are set up, there are TVs in the outside bar, and always good tunes cranked up. They also regularly have radio stations and live music come out and mix it up. Always enjoyable visiting the patio for happy hour, on the weekends, or for some breakfast before heading out on the Harley. I can honestly say that I've never really had inattentive or "bad" service like some of these reviews claim, I don't really know what's up with those. Even during the super busy times, I've never been irritated by waiting on service, a drink or food order, or getting the check. That might be saying something given the frequency with which I "could" encounter sub-par service. The bar features the full dining room menu and there are a few items that I really like (open face turkey sandwich, french dip, firehouse #5 burger). The burgers are really good, the app selection is nice, and there are often specials that come around seasonally (ribs, seafood and fish during Lent, burger night, etc.). The prices can be a little on the high side, but not outrageous. One thing I will say, though, is that the weekend evenings are now really geared towards a heavy party crowd (dance floor, DJ, emcees, laser lighting). Not that that's a bad thing, but my wife and I have more-or-less outgrown that scene. What we really used to enjoy (and bring all our friends with to) was karaoke on the weekends at the barn. That was fun and pretty chill. Unfortunately for us, that came to and end a couple years ago and replaced by a club-type scene. It would be nice if one of the weekend days, if nothing more than a testing phase with it, would be reverted back to karaoke. But, if that's the one complaint I have about this neighborhood bar, I'd say that's pretty lucky. All in all, this place is my Cheers, and we always look forward to a visit. I used to come to Casper's in the 90's. I returned there this evening (New Year's Day) Though it's been highly remodeled in my absence, the atmosphere in the dining area is rich and comfortable. You are offered a variety of seating options including booths, tables, and small comfy chairs with little tables for more intimate dining. The food is as good as I remember. My wife had BBQ pork ribs with baked potato, and I ordered a "Millennium steak" with rice. Mine came with a very ample garden salad, hers with soup. I would like to quickly mention their tomato basil bisque is amazing! Ok we've covered the Nice atmosphere and delicious food, so we've come to the downfall of my visit. The service. After an immediate visit from the young waitress, we were given a minute, (seemed like an hour) to order. Accompaniments came and were devoured long before our food was brought out. My wife's ribs looked as magnificent as the ones brought for me. Problem being I ordered steak. My perfect (seriously you should try one) steak came out after my wife had finished dinner. Meanwhile I waited, parched, as the nice bus girl reloaded everyone's water glasses. When she came to our table ( empty watergasses moved to the edge as a signal and for her convenience) she didn't even glance. I actually had to call out to be rehydrated. At the end of our meal I snagged her again to ask to see a dessert tray. Was told our waitress would be out with it soon. Insert " please define soon." When she arrived she had the tab with no desserts. She apparently had not been told. Though she did describe their 3 desserts, the description was lackluster and not appealing. Finally, and of note; a bar back stood ten feet from some patrons children and profanely complained to a co-employee about his hours. I was further away and could hear him clearly. Hard boiled eggs; delicious treasures trapped in a hard walled calcium shell. Youtube tricks, household hints, "As Seen on TV" products, all exist abound. The struggle is real. Well no longer! The ingenious kitchen staff at Casper's has solved the problem as old as the question of which came first. If you too wish to unlock this secret all you have to do is order brunch. Turns out it's remarkably similar to poaching an egg, except you leave it in there long enough for the second coming and presto, you have a hard-boiled egg sans shell. The real problem Casper's has is that there is no hard-boiled egg on the menu. How then, are they to get the word out? Well this inventive staff has come up with a solution to that too! They just wait until somebody orders eggs benedict and then presents their discovery on a bed of English muffin and Canadian bacon. Sure there's the expectation of poached eggs, but who wouldn't be so excited at this discovery that they could overlook this small fact? There were four of us, a summary: They managed to mess up poached eggs so badly that it was straight up hard boiled. Anybody who has ever SEEN a poached egg knows that you can tell the difference between a poached and a hard yoke. They knew when they sent it out, they just didn't care. Turns out Grandpa's Favorite Biscuits and Gravy has nothing to do with its taste (you can probably blame a 40 year 2 pack a day habit for that one) and everything to do with the fact that the congealed mess doesn't require teeth to eat The spinach tomato scramble did indeed have spinach and tomato and scrambled eggs. What it lacked was any kind of seasoning. Just like the hash browns lacked a complete cooking time, and was just as unpleasant as you'd think eating raw potatoes would be Tl;dr version: overcooked, overcooked, under seasoned, under-cooked So why two stars? Well the first was that the service actually wasn't bad - especially based on past reviews. He did stop and ask how the food was, but given that every single dish was almost comically bad we basically told him it was good (the 'as they could manage' was said under our breath) Second they had $10 bottomless bloodys. They give you a glass and all the fixings (including the vodka) were at a station. I would have liked if they also provided ice to refill your glass but the mix was good and the price was great. Prior to meeting here, I checked it out online and even changed clothing because from the website information and menu, it appeared to be more upscale than it actually was. Well.... I changed out of my yoga pants and Nikes for NO reason! Immediately I could tell this was not my kind of place; It looked like a barn from the outside and everyone on the patio was smoking....I wanted to turn around and go home. I walked in and felt like I had gone back in time to the early 90's and it smelled like it too. The carpeting was dirty, the bar area was stinky, and when I finally made it out to the patio, it was smoky, and full of obnoxious drunk early 20's crowd. I had a few glasses of Riesling, served in cheap small wine glasses. It tasted fine, but probably not worth $7 per glass. Server was OK, not terribly friendly nor attentive and a little slow. Dirty ashtrays all over the place, a drunk man who kept coming to our table, and shaking our hands, eventually asking us if we had any "weed"...WHAT? Are you frickin kidding me?? Do I look like I sell weed?? The dining area was empty and I would not chance it. I will not be returning. read more

It appears Thursday night is birthday night, always. If you are on the email you'll get a notice the week of your birthday for a free sirloin dinner that can only be used the Thurs of said bday, and at this location, even though I signed up in St. Paul. No problem, comes with soup or salad, and it's a generous green salad. I was disappointed when it came out medium, although very tender. I just wasn't in the mood to wait for another one. On the other hand Basil's 1# monstrosity comes out a perfect medium rare. Same delicious signature au gratin potatoes. You get a free dessert, too. I took a bite out of a strawberry shortcake. I had a couple of Sweets cupcakes waiting for me at home. Good, but I would not order it on its own. Very crowded for obvious reasons, which I was so glad to see. Lots of hype, nothin' to back it up. A family member, when it was his turn to pick the place, always brought us together here. The best thing I can say about Cherokee Sirloin Room is that they served a nice basket of bread: warm, with soft butter. Otherwise, nothing impressive. Poor-quality, rubbery steaks. And Cherokee's "Signature Item" cheesy potatoes were half-cooked, crunchy cubes covered with a sheet of unchewable cheese-flavored latex one could use to patch a hole in a roof. Other dishes I sampled were not memorable, due to their blandness. BBQ ribs drowned in a ketchupy sauce come to mind. Salads populated with brown-edged iceberg lettuce, dehydrated carrot slivers. I really want to like this place. All you can drink Bloody Mary bar 10-2 for $10 makes a great Sunday fun day. They hand you a glass with ice and you pour your own. All the fixings including hand stuffed blue cheese olives. Giant tvs perfect for watching the game. Awesome bar area with a loft. In the summer, the patio is incredible, redone in the last year or so. However... The service is terrible. I mean really bad. Sit upstairs and prepare to make trips to the bar if you want anything. Actually, sit anywhere besides the bar and you will struggle to get anyone's attention. In fact , it seems the servers go out of their way to avoid customers. If you ask they will politely say "oh, didn't see you there" every time. I wish this was a one time occurrence, because I DO really like the location and the atmosphere, but unfortunately the terrible service has been consistent in every visit. The owner seems very nice when we've encountered him and has been the first person to greet us when the bartenders and servers have ignored our presence on numerous occasions. Caspers is a great place to go for drink specials; other than that, avoid it. The food is mediocre, at best, and overpriced for what you get. We went for breakfast and the eggs were cold, biscuits raw and coffee bitter ($2.50 a cup, I might add). The worst part is the service. The hostess was rude and frowned the whole time. They don't make you feel welcome and do only the bare minimum. If you want to drink, go there. If you want to eat, go somewhere else. read more

If you like spending your meal trying to figure out what that "chlorineny" smell is, then Casper's is for you. I only mention this because aside from the less than warm hash browns, we were warmly greeted and looked after very attentively by rookie server, Stacey. The traditional breakfasts of eggs, bacon (which was kinda tasty) and pancakes were satisfying and well portioned. Stacey is going to do fine as a server.
