This was an INSANE experience. A love letter to Oaxaca. First of all, RAVEN! was the best! She was an awesome server, attentive, but not annoying, cool, laid back, helpful, gave great recommendations and descriptions of dishes and drinks on the menu. Please give her all the flowers. And the other staff were great too, even though I wasn't their table, they stopped by to make sure I was having a good experience. As I mentioned, this restaurant is focused on Oaxacan cuisine. They make their corn tortillas in house (you can watch them at the window that peeks into the kitchen). I had the lobster tacos (a special) and they were cheesy and chewy (in a good way). I had the tacos al pastor with pineapple (my favorite). I learned pastor is about how they are marinated, not the fact they are pork (you can have pastor without pork). That's another thing about my time here--Raven educated me about all the food and drink and traditions of Oaxaca! I also had the mushroom tacos, which were flavorful and a great vegan option. Topped off with pickled red onion. I had several drinks, all complex and made with various versions of mezcal (though there are drinks available without). The most fun was the mezcal flight at the end, topped with oranges and chili-spiced grasshoppers. It was a dramatic presentation and so much fun! I got lucky--they are usually busy, but I came in on a lazy Wednesday. I was made to feel like a VIP. It was a three hour long affair. Raven was AMAZING. I would go back again and again. Casi Cielo has one of the best atmospheres I've experienced in Atlanta, and the food and service lived up to it. We didn't have a reservation, so we sat at the bar. Our bartender was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly, making it a great experience. We started with the croquetas de plátano and portobello tacos. Both were excellent and full of flavor. The plantains were sweet and delicious, and the mole complemented them really well. The pato con mole negro was so tender and flavorful. The vibes at Casi Cielo's Beltline spot? Immaculate. This is a place that makes a big group dinner feel effortless, with huge booths and an open wall near the bar that makes a hot day feel like the best seat in the house. The bartenders know their mezcal, and I trusted one with a mezcal cocktail that came out clear as water and tasted like a small miracle. Started with the salmon crudo tostada, which was so good I nearly ordered a second round before the mains landed. The arrachera was hearty and exactly what I wanted. The lobster birria didn't quite land for me flavor-wise, but everything else was so strong I'm not holding it against them. Five stars, no notes. read more

Had a wonderful time at Casi Cielo! Came here for my boyfriend's birthday, and they did a wonderful job making him feel special. I love the interior - it feels modern and spacious, and I love the tall ceilings! The way some of the booths are designed reminds me of a pueblo. When the front door is closed, it kinda blends in with the wall paneling, it feels a little hidden at first. Everything that we ordered was fantastic - both in taste and presentation. I particularly loved my Mixteco Poblano - flavorful, creamy sauce with tender meats and cheese stuffed into a mild pepper. So good! I borrowed my boyfriend's blue corn tortilla to pair with a few bites of my dish and it was amazing. My boyfriend really loved his Pato con Mole Negro dish, but it wasn't to my liking. I feel that the mole negro is more of an acquired taste and may not be for everyone. We both enjoyed the croquetas! Can't go wrong with those, and the mole in that app is a lot milder than the mole negro. For dessert we had the De Verano, which was very interesting! We couldn't quite pick up on the soursop taste, it honestly mostly tasted like vanilla to us, but the meringue bits in the dessert were yummy. It was a light dessert and a nice way to top off a great meal. My only complaint was that we were seated near the door where waiters were constantly going in and out to access the patio seating. And as a result of the doors being open repeatedly, we had to shoo away a fly every now and then. For this area, I prefer to free street park off of Ralph McGill Blvd NE. I know there's garage parking in the area but I'm not sure if it's free/paid, or if businesses in the area validate. Super aesthetic area to walk around too. read more

So excited to finally have a location on the Beltline we can walk to! I've had the Sandy Springs location before and loved it, so this was a no-brainer. Of course the patio looking out on the belt line is such a vibe. Definitely order the cauliflower as an appetizer for the table, always a hit. Only downside: service could be a bit better. I would have given 5 stars but being asked if we would like bread and then being charged for it was not cool. Most restaurants don't charge for bread when asked so that was my biggest issue with my overall experience. Please mention the price to avoid future complaints from customers. So we wanted to try this place and wandered toward it on a lovely fall afternoon- but the incredibly loud 1am club music was so off putting that we left and walked across the beltline- where we encountered multiple (meaning more than 10) different groups of people discussing how the loud music was so off putting and out of place for a Saturday afternoon that they didn't even want to dine at the restaurants in the immediate area. Not a good neighbor to affect other nearby businesses and totally missed the mark- so much so we will never actually dine here. Be a better neighbor! read more
