Came here thanks to Birthday Pak! There are a few things that could use improvement. There is no foyer area so when we tried to walk in, we ended up having to hold the door for a few minutes to let people out. Also, the front door is quite unwelcoming & dark. When we finally did walk in we literally walked smack into the two hostess who promptly seated us in the first booth. The booths backs are so high that I couldn't take in the rest of the restaurant. My only view were the very loud "regulars" at the bar. While I love the "local bar vibe", I wasn't impressed with the food or service overall. Or waitress forgot so many things, and trying to spot her to flag her down over those tall booths was impossible. The cheesesteak egg rolls were delicious! My husband (who never complains about food) said the best part of his burger was the bbq sauce he requested on the side. My chick parm sandwich was extremely dry (literally, both the chicken and the sandwich. I couldn't find any sauce!). I did however like the beer selection. If I were to come back, it would be to sit at the bar or outside and just get a few drinks & appetizers. This was my local watering hole during my early "legal" years. Walking through the door 35 years later was like walking into my past life. Not a thing has changed except maybe the shape of the beef sandwich. It is still piled with juicy roasted beef and the deeply rich au jus. Just pour it on to get the right culinary effect (and some more pepper, please). I substituted onion rings for the fries and they were some of the best I have had. The beer list is impressive. I had dinner here last night and this place is a very nice busy small tavern located on the mainline. My reasons for 5 stars is because first of all the service was excellent and our food was prepared nicely. I had the "Philly" roast pork sandwich with sharp provolone served with au jus and a roasted green chili and my partner had the chicken pot pie. Both served piping hot and the pot pie was homemade with plenty of chicken and fresh vegetables. My fries were well done as requested, but most of all they had a "GREAT" beer selection and were "ice" cold served in a frosted pint glass. Prices were reasonable and there were at least 6 big screen TVs with varying sports broadcasting. Our waiter was very attentive and "very" polite as well. I would visit on a regular basis if we lived in the area. We are here on business and were looking for a nice small place to eat! Thumbs up!! read more

Casey's is a neighborhood bar, and the food reflects that. I liked that it serves regional oysters on the half shell, and the ones I had were fresh and good. I also liked my South Philly style pork sandwich served with a "long hot" grilled pepper. Otherwise, the food is ok, but this is not a destination spot where you go for the food. My fried calamari had too much breading and not enough calamari and did not seem like it was prepared on-site, rather purchased pre-breaded and fried on site. I would come back here for a casual meal sometime, picking my menu items wisely, if it weren't for the excess of televisions they have installed on every wall in multiple spots. My family loves this place. I have always had great service and the meals are way above average for "bar" food. The french onion soup is the best here and I have tried it pretty much everywhere in this town. My kids look forward to going to Casey's for the Spaghetti and Meatballs and to see the train that goes around the room on the wall. I used to come here all the time as a kid for "Family dinner" The renovation could not have been a better choice and of course the smoking ban makes it more comfortable for everyone! This was my second visit and my last. I ordered the snapper soup wish was good but the portion was very small. My main reason for going was treat my self to a Guinness. Big disappointment. I have been here multiple times for lunch, the food has all times been average. The service is great but food was lacking. My coworker was upset with his Thai shrimp and told me he was never going back again. I thought he was being harsh. I decided to go the following day and order myself and at the end of the meal I was saying the same thing. I ordered coconut shrimp and buffalo chicken wrap. My first problem was the price. its on the website listed at $9 and when I went to pay, it came to $12 for 5 shrimp. They were pretty good though I must say and the sauce set it off perfect, but I was not expecting the price change. The overall order cost $22. The part that made me really upset that I ordered was the buffalo chicken wrap was the absolute worst one I have ever had. The chicken did not seem cooked well enough and the buffalo sauce seemed a lot more runny then normal, almost as if it was old. It did not taste good at all. Had to throw it away after the 2nd bite. We enjoyed our dinner very much--- french fries and the salads and barbecued chicken is outstanding. The only downside of the meal was that we left an irreplaceable photograph recently reproduced in a folder on the table. Have been there a number of times and it was very good until our last two visits. About a month ago my boyfriend and I went for the normally delicious beef sandwiches. Both sandwiches contained large slivers of garlic. It was difficult eating the beef due to the amount of garlic present. Spoke to the waitress and she said she would inform the cook. End of story. Fast forward to today's visit. Both he and I ordered chicken pot pie also previously delicious. His chicken pot pie had one piece of chicken which we found disturbing since the price for one was $13.50. Again our waitress said she would tell the cook. The other part of today's visit included ordering a glass of house wine and a beer and since she put the order through six minutes before the start of Happy Hour we were charged full price. When I questioned the charge I was told she entered the order at 4:24pm, the computer doesn't lie, and Happy Hour prices begin at 4:30pm. I think she could have held off on the order since it did not arrive at our table as quickly as the glasses of free water did. She appeared to not really be concerned about our displeasure. This will be our last visit to Casey's which is too bad because if was a favorite of ours. read more
