Happy Easter Day to everyone who celebrates Christian Faith…read more My Sister and I had reservations for dinner at one of the best restaurants in West Haven, in most people's opinions. Duffy's is an Irish American Pub/Restaurants owned by Christopher Walsh. Being a holiday, Duffy's is offering both their traditional and brunch menu options. The dining room and bar is decorated with strong oak furniture, tables and chairs. The historic backdrop is filled on the walls throughout the restaurant of baseball, football, political heroes and of course, a touch of Irish heritage and American pride. The staff immediately make you feel welcome and right at home with their warm demeanor and bright smiles. My Sister had the Brunch Wrap with a side of Home Fries (Sorry no picture) I had to Slow Cooker Pot Roast with Mashed Potatoes and Broccoli and Carrots. Washed it down with 2 Smith Wick's Irish Red Ales. Our waitress today was Kenzie.... She was attentive and polite, did a very good job, especially with it being very busy. Highly recommend visiting Duffy's for any occasion, holiday or any other reason?

I visited Duffy's with three friends on a weekday night and, man, what a great little place…read more Located in the middle of a neighborhood, there's limited parking in the back but street parking is also available. Once we walked inside, I was smitten. Duffy's is that neighborhood pub you find across the pond, beautifully decorated and with a great vibe. The place was clean and our waitress was the sweetest. After getting some recommendations from the waitress, I ordered the fish and chips. These were different than what I'm used to. Instead of a big piece of fish, I two small pieces of fish. It was interesting and there was nothing special about them. The coleslaw was okay, as were the French fries. One of my friends ordered a steak (medium rare) and it was tough and overcooked. Overall, the food wasn't great, but the ambiance made up for it. Would I return to have a pint at the bar? Absolutely! Would I come hungry next time? Probably not.

This restaurant came highly recommended but honestly I wasn't that impressed. We didn't have a…read morereservation and were told they could seat our party of 5 as long as we were done in 90 minutes which was fine. The server was attentive and easily accessible. A few of us were interested in the chicken sandwich special served Rueben style on Texas toast. I asked if I could order it but put it on a brioche bun instead I was told NO. All of the other sandwiches came on a brioche bun so I figured it wasn't a big deal but I really got a hard NO from the server. Another special was fish tacos. It was disappointing in taste, quality, and presentation. It was flat breaded fish filets on mini tortillas with some iceberg lettuce and a bit of pico. We asked for a sauce or hot sauce and were handed a bottle of of Tabasco. The other fish sandwiches were mediocre and definitely not homemade. Even the fries were frozen and not crispy. I guess I expected better for the steep prices.

They do not have a phone number, but we made a reservation and they ended up reaching out to us following up on our concern about vegetarian options. They are actually quite accommodating, mentioning that several options can be made vegetarian and describing the dishes in further detail. Our server was amazing, very friendly and inquisitive. She mentioned that she's not local, but just comes up time to time because she's close with the owner. When she learned that we were new to the area, she shared a drink with us on the house! The food was surprisingly good! We ordered the broccoli nuggets and they were fantastic, with plenty of chew and a dipping sauce that really balanced everything out. I did not expect to like them as much as I did. Our drinks came out quickly and were very well-balanced. For entrees, I had the meatball sandwich (a special) that was delicious but also lighter than I expected, in a good way. My wife ordered pasta that was bright and fresh. We didn't have room for dessert, but the owner makes unique and fun ice cream sandwiches that we'll try next time. The flavor changes each week!

Still great in 2025!…read more Had the jamming burger specials with the yummy jammified onions and they satisfied the burger craving without fault. The pretzel bites were also salty and bready nuggets of deliciousness. Service was great and friendly! It doesn't have a particularly great look outside or inside (mostly a bar with some tall tables and several large screen tvs) but they are consistently good with their flavorful offerings, which is what matters most.

The restaurant wasn't busy so we sat at the bar to watch football. We ordered wings and the special tacos of the day which were eye of the round tomatillo tacos with pico. We get the buffalo sauce and cajun dry rub on our wings which were 5 stars. The tacos not so much. For $15 the three tacos were tiny, 3 pieces of eye of the round on two tacos, 4 on third. The pico was tomatoes with a tiny piece of jalapeno and onion in water, weird. The tomatillo sauce was ok, but not the best. We LOVE this place but these tacos missed the mark. Service was good. At the end, Lauren took over. She was friendly and introduced herself to us and others at the bar. She mostly cashed us out, but we liked her friendliness. Go with confidence, it's a great local bar/restaurant with good, friendly service.
