We had a fantastic evening with exceptional service (thanks Barry) - capped off with a birthday dessert (balloons even) with an amazing NY style cheesecake! The corn chowder was superb, along with an evening special of scallops with lobster risotto. According to the younger crowd, fries accompanying the fish and chips and children's hot dog were "amazing and one of the best fries I've ever had". The flank steak was perfectly cooked and the mushroom risotto was a perfect side choice. Ambiance is simply unique and clearly the owner is passionate about creating a genuine experience! The ambiance in this restaurant is amazing! It's fun and even has a little train that goes around occasionally. Their food is very good I would highly recommend the lobster Mac n cheese! It's to die for. We came here twice on vacation, they are very good about masks and sanitation. The only reason it got 4 stars was both times I came the wait staff left a bit to be desired. Not In the were busy you have to wait a second but the not paying attention to what their doing and i had to wait 15 minutes before placing an order because the waiter was wondering around, you can see everything here so not many places to hide so to speak. Casey's is back! This has always been my favorite bar in Killington, and it was a bummer when the bar closed. Everyone's favorite bartender is back behind the bar. They've got a great tap list and the food is good too. Come on in and toss a quarter at Goofy to make the train go. I'll be coming back again and again. read more

I hate writing negative reviews so I will start with a positive bit and hope that just hearing about our experience will help them make some changes in the future. The positive: Casey's Caboose has a very cute atmosphere and the staff was very cheerful and polite. The negative: pretty much everything else about our dinner there. We arrived early, so early that there was only one other table of diners at the time and they already had their drinks and appetizers, so we figured we would be in and out in no time at all. We ordered and while we were waiting for our food the restaurant filled up and got busy. We kept waiting. We watched every table around us - all of whom sat down after we had placed our order - get their food, eat their food, pay for their food, and leave. And we still had nothing. Nothing. Just drinks and no dinner and two hungry kids. When our server finally came back to our table he didn't offer any reason or excuse, just said, "Your food is taking a while. Please save room for dessert on us." We didn't want dessert but we aren't complainers so we just took that as an offering and tried to psych ourselves up for it. When our order finally came (it took over an hour for one kids meal, a burger, and the chicken parmesan mac and cheese) it was all...fine. Didn't knock our socks off. Then our server told us, "Your dessert will be a brownie sundae." Again, we didn't want dessert to begin with and certainly wouldn't have chosen a brownie sundae if we'd been allowed to choose for ourselves. But that's what we were offered so we took it because we are too polite for our own good. No surprise, the brownie sundae took forever to arrive and must have been sitting on the counter for a while because all the whipped cream on top was melted by the time it got to us. My seven year old took one bite and said, "This brownie tastes burned." Because of course it was. I'm pretty sure the server said, "Sorry for the delay," and having worked in restaurants in touristy areas before I totally get that things happen. But it should never have happened on such a grand scale and been left so poorly resolved and with no explanation at all. We paid full price for our meal, no discount was even offered, and left feeling deeply disappointed. read more

Enjoyed a delicious dinner there of Mac n Cheese and Lobster Roll last night. We really like the unique building structure built around two original rail cars, with charming seat alcoves high up. The best gin selection in a 100 mile radius, and five-star martini and G&T preparations of them for dive bar prices. Hanging out in a train car is more fun than you'd think it'd be. I am so happy that Casey's is opened again! Went tonight for the first time and it did not disappoint!! We will absolutely be back!!! Our waitress was so friendly and the service was amazing. Was so glad to see this place re-opened back in May of 2017. Use to visit here regular back about 10 years ago. The "new" place is 10 times BETTER!!! John one of the two Owners was great, he was around to all the tables very personable and down to earth. Barry our Waiter was Awesome gave top notch service and great recommendations on selections. But trust me there aren't enough GREAT things to say about Michael the Head Chef!!! The food was beyond FABULOUS !!! My wife had the Pan Seared Scallops they were done to PERFECTION with a spinach risotto and tomato and lobster. Her statement was "One of the top 5 meals she has ever eaten. I had the Chicken Parm over Mac and Cheese sounds like a plain dish NO WAY was elevated to perfection, multiple cheeses , fresh chicken, fresh mozzarella on top made it FANTASTIC. And a huge portion to boot. Let's not forget the desert a Homemade Neapolitan Alaskan was big enough that four people could have shared. Was fresh Blueberry, vanilla raspberry ice creams wrapped in a cake shell topped with toasted meringue and homemade whipped cream on the side with a chocolate fudge base. TOTALLY AWESOME!!!! You guys, listen to this post. Casey's has been under new management. Since this, serious changes have happened to the building. But the food and drinks are still EPIC. Family, no family, it doesn't matter. There is something here for everyone. And you Gin drinkers (like me) this is your Mecca. Ask for Ann. She is fantastic! Please come and ignore those old posts. This is a unique place, the train theme is strong! Service was very good. Wings were excellent, we had the buffalo style for an appetizer. I had the veggie burger for dinner. The taste was good, but it didn't hold together. Fries were standard. My companion had the chicken parm Mac and cheese. It was a huge portion- creamy Mac and cheese, nice sauce on the parm. The service was very slow even though the restaurant was not very full. We waited over five minutes just for the waitress to come to the table. We had actually thought about leaving. The food was very over priced for what we saw. (12.00 for a hot dog). We ended up ordering drinks and the Vermont cheese platter. This was very good. It pleased us and our children. The popovers were also very good. When we asked for the bill, because we had not been asked if we wanted/needed anything else, the waitress cleaned two tables and brought food out for other customers as we waited. 12/26/17 - studied reviews for a casual place online for me and my two teens. Unfortunately a big miss. Onion ring app was about 1/3 size i expected. 12-15 rings in a very small bucket. Entrees arrived 40 mins after the app. My daughter's adult mac and cheese entree was terrible. I tasted it and it was off putting. I had a chicken breast sandwich which was not good. Chicken itself didnt taste good and the focaccia bread it was on was dry and falling apart so I quit after two bites. Bummer. My sons chicken fingers and fries were ok. They took the meals off the bill. Table next to us waited longer than us and sent the fish tacos back after one bite. Too bad. Spending a fortune to take my kids skiing during the holiday week and it stunk to have our stay start off this way. read more

Was in Killington recently with a hungry group of 9. Went to another establishment down the street and was rudely told by the waitress we would be waiting at least 20 minutes to be seated in a restaurant that was maybe 1/8 full. Decided this was not going to get better as the rudeness was at a 10 so we decided to try the caboose which was very close by. What a great move, greeted by 2 separate people with ear to ear smiles. We were promptly seated. Great selection of food, I went for the burger, juicy, delicious and cooked perfectly. The rest of the party was equally pleased with their selections which ranged from salads, pasta and chicken. Everyone loved their meals and the service was absolutely spot on. I highly recommend Caseys and would not hesitate to go back. read more
